Retrieve playlists

I had to re-install itunes on an external hard drive because my music wouldn't fit on my home computer, however I lost all my playlists, some are still on my phone till I sync it, is there a way to retrieve my old playlists? or can I retrieve the playlists off my phone at least?

How can I retrieve playlists from another Spotify account that the email is no longer active and I forgot the password to that account.

Hey there , welcome to the community!
Since you have two accounts, it would be best to just have Spotify close that account and have them transfer all your music to your new account. How does that sound? If you contact the accounts team through the online contact form and provide the account username with the e-mail address, date of birth, and zip code on the account then they should be able to do it for you! If you receive an automated e-mail directing you back to the community, just reply to it and you should receive a reply from a representative within 24-48 hours.

  • How do you retrieve playlist that has disappeared

How do I retrieve my playlist which has disappeared along with my library after changing credit card details???

When you overwrite an existing file the overwritten file is lost forever. You cannot recover it.

  • Retrieving Playlists

I wondered if anyone can help me...
My PC developed a fault and in a nutshell had to be wiped. I was assured at the time that the people fixing it would sort out Itunes as I have had problems before reinstalling my Itunes library and playlist.
Anyway last night i managed to get my library reinstalled but all the playlists were gone. I seem to remember when we did it last time we had to export the playlists separately but I couldn't see any files.
I rang the repair place this morning and they say they are there and that it all gets backed up at the same time as my music library. I said that the playlists hadn't appeared and could they advise where they might be in the files but they said I had to go and ask Apple as they said they should be there.
Can anyone suggest what else can I do or shall I just admit defeat and accept they've gone? To add insult to injury my Ipod gave up the other day so I can't even use that to restore them.
    Thanks

Is there a Previous iTunes Libraries folder amongst the things that have been restored? If so the techniques in Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash may help.

  • Cannot retrieve playlist

I had to system restore and lost EVERYTHING. I plugged my iPod in to transfer the music onto the computer and pushed the wrong button, wiping my iPod OUT! I cannot figure out how to restore my purchased music back onto iTunes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pressing "Erase and Sync" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in this iTunes does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased your original iPod song list. There are some data recovery programs on the market. I've no personal experience of them so I can't say how effective they are, here's an example: iPod Data Recovery Buegie - Recovering Songs
None of the recovery programs are particularly cheap so you have to decide if in your particular circumstances it's worth it to get your songs back. It may be if you have a lot of purchased tracks which you will have to pay to download again. If they came primarily from your CDs then it's most likely not as you can re-rip them.

  • Help Restoring Playlists

Our computer crashed and once we were able to get it up and running again I was able to restore the music library; however I had a lot of playlists and I'm not sure how to restore them. I have most of the playlists on my iPod but have not sync'd it to my computer. Please help!

Do you have a backup copy of the itunes database ITL file before the crash?
Just put that on your PC , start iTUnes and immediately press & hold the shift key. Choose that restored ITL file when prompted.
There are some 3rd-party ipod managers that can retrieve playlists from iPods, if you don't have a copy of the ITL file..

  • TS1474 i have lost playlists on my iTunes while syncing my daughters phone, any ideas in how to get them back?

Can anyone provide some feedback on how to retrieve Playlists, I lost a few while syncing my daughter's iphone, after i had synced an iphone and ipod

Any music purchased through the iTunes store can be downloaded again for free as long as you are signed in with the Apple ID you used for the original purchase.  Any other music you had in iTunes should be easily accessible in your system back up or from the CDs you ripped from originally.

  • Is there any way to transfer non-itunes store music to your iTunes?

I kind of killed my macbook, and it had to go to mac support and in order to make it happy and shiny again they had to wipe all of its memory.
Now, I've restored the song purchased on itunes to my itunes, but
    1. The iTunes/MacBook doesn't seem to be living harmoniously with my iPod, any way to make them realise they are long-time friends?
    2. Is there anyway to switch my non-iTunes-purchased stuff to my MacBook from my iPod.
    3. Finally if no. 2 can't be done, since I've already transfered the purchased stuff from my iPod onto my itunes library again, should I just choose the "Erase and Sync" option since when I connect them it gives me a ramble then the options " Cancel", "Transfer Purchases" which I've already hit/done, or "Erase and Sync" because I know the last will mean that I will have to put all my CDs back on, but alas, that may be what I have to do, but will that at least make them live harmoniously again with my purchased stuff safe?
Sorry about the length of the question, and thanks to whomever reads it.

    2. Is there anyway to switch my non-iTunes-purchased stuff to my MacBook from my iPod.
    Try Senuti.
It's a program that transfers music from iPod to iTunes on a Mac.
    As is Music Rescue.
There's also a similar program called Yamipod which has a Mac version.
I've used all of these on a Mac with great success.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.

  • Is there a way to get help even if I have to pay?  Haven't gotten help here

I haven't gotten help here on the question I posted...see below. Is there another source of help, even if I have to pay for it? thanks
I copied my iTunes folder to an external drive as a backup. (I suppose I should have "exported" it.) Then that computer's motherboard crashed. I have a new computer and have copied the iTunes files to the C drive. iTunes seems to find the music (3000 songs, etc) but my ratings, and playlists are missing. How can I restore them? ( I do have my IPOD with all the stuff on it.)
    Pleas help....thanks

There are applications that purport to retrieve playlist information from your iPod. I'd look for posts by Zevoneer.
For future reference, you need to copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the one with the music in it)when you back up. The ratings and playlists information are stored in the iTunes Libary file.
I believe the support contact information is all on the main support page. There is also a link, "Contact Us" at the bottom of this page.
    Best of luck.

  • Itunes got erased, can i transfer from Ipod back into itunes?

    Greetings,
I did an update to my Apple and all of my itunes and iphoto got erased. The songs are still listed but there are exclamations next to each song and they wont play. I didnt have it backed up in time machine because i didnt realize i had to (im a new mac owner and currently in the process of hooking up my time machine). However, I still have every song and picture still on my IPOD Classic. Is there anyway to transfer them from the ipod back into my computer, or are they erased from my computer for good? Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'Command + Option' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Try iPodDisk. This is a program designed to transfer music from iPod to computer.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
If you copied photos to your iPod using the full resolution option, enable disk use, open your iPod in "my computer" in Windows or Finder on a Mac, open the photos folder then open the "full resolution" folder and drag the photos out of that folder to your desktop. For enabling disk use look here.
    Disk Use.
If you only copied the photos as thumbnails, you can't do this so you'll need a program such as this one.
    iPod Photo Copy. (Windows only)
iPod Photo Liberator. (both Mac and Windows versions available)
Photos as thumbnails won't be of the original quality when copied back to your computer.

  • No tunes on iTunes

I just returned from vacation and all my iTunes are missing. Even the purchased ones don't show up much less all of them I had on from my hard drive. The sorted songs are still on my ipod. Is there a way to retrieve playlists?

The transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

    iDump Windows Only
    iRepo Mac and Windows
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod

  • Switching an iPod from a PC to a Mac

I just bought a new MacBook and my iPod was previously configured with a PC. I don't want the PC anymore, so I would like to configure my iPod for the Mac. Is there a way to do that without losing all of my music?

When you say "configure", do you mean reformat the iPod software from Windows to Mac? That isn't really necessary because you can use a Windows formatted iPod on a Mac whilst it is still Windows formatted, and indeed, many people do. The only downside is that you wouldn't be able to update the iPod software in the future unless you did it via a Windows PC.
Or maybe you mean transfer all your music files to the Mac? You can do this from PC to Mac and here's a guide (it covers all files not just music).
    Switch 101.
If you no longer have access to the PC and the music is on your iPod, you can transfer it from there to your new Mac and subsequently iTunes.
Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library. There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to iTunes/preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".

Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
Any of these should work with a Windows formatted iPod because Macs can read and write to FAT32 formatted drives.
iPodRip also works with Windows formatted iPods.
Once the music is in your new Mac iTunes installation (and not before), you can connect your iPod and when you see the message about a different library/syncing your iPod to the new library, you can click "yes".
Then, if you no lnger will be using the iPod on a Windows PC, you can restore the iPod which will reformat it for Macs.
Anything you don't understand or I've not made clear, please post back.

  • Can I transfer music from ipod into itunes?

I know I'm probably clutching at straws here but thought I'd give it a try and throw the question out there! Stupidly I let my system be rebooted with the original operating system discs without backing up my itunes!! Is there any chance of transferring my music back using my ipod?? Thanks in advance

  • Not All Music, Video, & Movie Files Copying To iPod, Following Restore???

I just restored my iPod to factory settings.
I have converted all of my videos and movies the same way.
I just tried copying all of the episodes from a TV Show (from only 1 season) and the first 6 episodes copy over, then the rest don't copy over to the iPod and the uploading to the iPod ceases...?
I am currently uploading MP3s and the uploading of the songs ceased after 97 songs...?
What the **** is going on???

I have so much music that has so many different kinds of value to me (monetary, nostalgic, etc.)
And you have no back up of this valuable music? The iPod is simply not reliable enough to keep the only copy of your music etc stored on it.
Try iPodDisk. This is a program designed to transfer music from iPod to computer.
Similar programs are Expod, Yamipod, Senuti and Music Rescue.
If you want to retrieve playlists, iPodRip has the feature enabling you to reconstruct them.
All of these methods require the iPod to have a valid library file and for the programs to be able to read it. I don't know how successful you will be in salvaging the music is the file/iPod is corrupted (as appears to be the case).

  • Library problem -- lost data

I have (or had) about 9+ gig of data in my itunes library, and had various Playlists set up. While opening itunes recently, I noticed that a Norton automatic virus scan was running. I then closed itunes while it was still trying to open.
When I later opened itunes, only about 2.9 gig of data was in the library, and it was noted as "damaged". Also, there were no Playlists or Purchased Music or any of the other normal itunes folders (e.g. Radio).
I'm now trying to figure out if I can retrieve everything back into the library, and retrieve Playlists. Using Windows Explorer, the albums/songs I have imported all appear to be on the hard drive. Under "iTunes" in "My Music", I have 2 "iTunes Libraries" -- one is noted as damaged with 2.9 gig, the other only has 147 KB. However, when I select either of these, iTunes opens with only 500 MB. There is also a folder called "iTunes Music" -- this has folders for each artist and appears to have all the songs that I have imported. Note that this is a series of folders, NOT a library. Finally, there is an XML Document called "iTunes Music Library" -- can't tell what that is.
I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks -- Ken
      Windows XP

What are the iTunes library files?
I back up the .itl and .xml files about once a week, more often if I've added lots of music and/or ratings.
If it's damaged, you may have lost the info.
