Retrieving any mobile sms messages using a pc

I already know it's possible to send text messages to mobile phones using your pc and all, however, is it possible to retrieve the text messages you get on your cell phone via your home computer. I mean, say i left my cell phone at home when on vacation and i wanted to get any text messages i may of recieved, but being i didnt have my phone w/ me, could i use my pc to retrieve them? Is there a program that would make this possible?
Sorry for the lengthy post.....any insight on this type of sms forwarding would be appreciated,

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Contacts should already be at iCloud.com if you have already set up iCloud sync services. Photos in Photostream can be viewed on a computer using the same iCloud account, but not at iCloud.com.
If you haven't already set up iCloud on your phone you won't be able to do so now you have lost it.

I can't see any new SMS messages without changing one of my options?

I got the BB Curve 8520 around a month ago. Ever since getting it, whenever I have a new SMS there will be a message indicator showing at the top. But when I go to the Message LIst, there are no messages. I found out soon after that to see any of my unread messages, I have to change an option.
So I have been doing that for the past month. I regularly receive messages, and automatically I click 'Options' and change ' Display Time' to either a yes or no. When I go back to the message list, all my unread messages are there.
I have not set up an email account. Thank you!

Try this > Open your Messages folder > press the Menu Key > Options > General Options > Email and SMS Inbox and set that to SEPARATE.
Or what is the current setting there?

SMS messages using IOS5

Hi, am reciving text messages with no content. I have reset my phone, turned it off and on but still not working. Help!

If you mean iMessage.... it uses data, so the only charges are for data usage.
If you are roaming and using iMessage, then you will be charged the appropriate rate for roaming data usage.
If on Wi-Fi, there are no charges from the carrier.
Regardless, there are never charges from Apple... you might get clearer answers about charges from the carrier.

Cannot send sms message using version 7.0.3

I have checked all of the settings against the User Manual and tried all of the topics in the trouble shooting section of the Apple website. I have compared the phone settings against another i phone which can send to the specific address. There are no problems sending an i message.

My wife and I were having same issue after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3. I called apple support and they said it was because we were using the same Apple ID for iMessage/FaceTime on both iPhones. I created a new Apple ID (just for iMessage/FaceTime) on my phone and it seems to have fixed my issues. Using original Apple ID on my wife's phone and mms hasn't started functioning for pics yet on that device. iMessage is working fine however. We always turned the email part of iMessage/FaceTime off, so I'm not sure why it started being an issue now. FYI, I was told that iMessage and FaceTime should use same Apple IDs.

I was dealing with this last week. On a mobile phone, you use an email center number. This is not the same as an SMS message center number. Your carrier may not call it this. Cingular calls it a routing number. Anyway, its a three digit number. For Cingular its 121, on VoiceStream, its 500.
So, you must set up your phone's SMS client to know that its email center number is xxx. Different on each phone, I suppose. Once done, you start your sms message with an email address, then a space, then your message. Essentially, the carrier will get the message and send it to the email recipient for you.
Its just the inverse of what you have done. You send email to an address [email protected] and the carrier passes the email to the phone as SMS, right?
So for your computer to get the SMS message, it just listens to the email box the phone user places in the first part of their sms message (use Java Mail)

Skype sends SMS message to a wrong contact

This is a weird one. When I select one of my relatives which is save as my Skype mobile phone contact and I send her an SMS, the message is not being delivered to her but rather to a different cell phone No which belongs to her husband who is also one of my Skype phone contacts. I checked their numbers as saved under their profiles and they are both correct. They are both on the same cell phone network, but have very different numbers and they are even not together on the same family plan or similar. So I'm having real problem comprehending why this is happening. When I send her an SMS message using my phone, it goes normally to her phone. But when I do it via Skype it goes to a wrong recipient but he sees my correct phone number displayed one his phone after receiving the message. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Nevermind...I actually dug deeper and found the same thread. I tried to delete this one but couldn't find a way to do it.

They should be stored locally on the phone in the Sent folder (Mail, scroll down past inboxes, select Account, see Sent folder). But that's all.
IMAP is really a better setup than POP if you are accessing from multiple places, but if IMAP isn't possible, the usual approach is to tell the phone to BCC you on all your sent mail (Settings, Mail, scroll down past the Accounts, tap ON for "always BCC myself").

If I turn off iMessages on my iphone 5 and only use SMS, I am hoping this will this stop ALL my messages going to partners ipad? I only want 2 use SMS and not have any of my messages go to partners ipad so dont want to alter ipad settings.

My situtation is this, my soon to be ex previously set up an ipad with both our numbers and we share a linked itunes/icloud account so if my phone is off he gets all my messages via his ipad that I DO NOT have access to his ipad at ALL. I can't set up my own itunes account (not yet until I leave him) otherwise he will know I am leaving him and it will cause major problems. So I was hoping that if I turn off iMessages on my iphone 5 and just talk to my family via SMS and NOT touch his precious ipad mini, that he wont be able to get my messages anymore and if I turn off iCloud storage and back up as well on my iphone only. Is this correct? Its just a temporary solution I am hoping. I have searched for days and hours and I just cant find this answer anywhere....
Do I HAVE to turn off my phone number off or delete it on his ipad? I am really hoping I can just do this at my own end and not touch his ipad in anyway or have to change my itunes id YET. Once I leave him shortly, I will create a whole new ID etc. I just wanna know if I can do this myself on my iphone only. Please any experienced help would be greatly appreciated. SMS messages will not go to the iPad Mini. It's not capable of receving them. If you have access and can do it without it causing a problem, remove your iPhone from the Apple ID Support profile:
Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
Click on "Edit Products"
Click on the "X" to the right of the product.
Click "Unregister"
If anyone in your family uses iMessage, they will go to both you and your boyfriend unless you do that.
To be completely safe, you may want to simply use an alternate message app such as Skype, Viber, Whatsapp (assuming everyone has a smartphone) until the issue is resolved. Google Voice will also allow you to send and receive texts to another number on your phone.

Hi,
The first run of Messages will ask you to enter an Apple ID to "register' with iMessages.
If you do not do this but open the App and look in Preferences > Accounts then you will see the iMessages account and the Bonjour Account which will not be activated.
Neither of these two account can be deleted. (even if not being used)
If you then press the + icon to add you will get the choices you posted.
To iMessage you need to "register" and Apple ID with the iMessages service.
As Diane then points out you can link this to your iPhone number.
This "syncs" (Displays on all devices) the various iMessages sent to either iPhone or Apple ID
You can then chose on both iPhone or Mac version how or which ID/Number is going to be used to "Start the conversations from"
I have my Mac version set to start from my Apple ID and the iPhone from it's number.
At this moment the Mac version cannot send SMS text messages to an iPhone.
This is apparently coming with iOS 8 and OS 10.10 (Yosemite)
An AIM account can send SMS Messages but only to a limited number of USA based phone users on these carriers.
(Basically you add a phone number with country code +1 as a Buddy to your List)
Mocked up number (It not really an auto responder although you do get sent back and Error message about it not being valid)

Hey @piyali, I wanted to inform you that your phone doesn't have a software to transfer that information. But for you to know when you transfer the messages to the computer it will just appear a regular notepad document, so basically, you could just copy the information from the text message into a notepad in your computer and you can keep those important memories for yourself.
