Retrieving backed up imessages

can i retrieve backed up imessages without doing a complete restore of phone?

If you mean will it only restore messages that haven't been deleted, the answer is no.  It restores the data in the backup, overwriting the data now on your phone.  You will lose any newer data (including messages) when restoring to the backup.  There is really no way to "merge" your older messages from the backup with your current ones.

  • I've been texting my friend with iMessage with wifi on and all of a sudden it changed to text message and won't let me send messages. My wifi is still on and working but it won't switch back to iMessage. Please help

I've been texting my friend with iMessage with wifi on and all of a sudden it changed to text message and won't let me send messages. My wifi is still on and working but it won't switch back to iMessage. Please help

What I recommend you try doing first is to turn iMessage off then back on.  If that doesn't work, make sure that your Apple ID and password are correct.  If everything seems correct and you still can't send out messages using iMessage instead of text message, I think you should either try calling AppleCare at 1-800-MY-IPHONE (1-800-694-7466) and/or scheduling an appointment at the Genius Bar at an Apple Store (that is, if there's one close to you).
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I FTP files from a security camera to iCloud so they can be retrieved back to my MacBook Pro whenever I connect when travelling?

How do I FTP files from a security camera to iCloud so they can be retrieved back to my MacBook Pro whenever I connect when travelling?
    Russ

Do you want to watch the live feed of your secutiry cameras or recorded footage?
In either case, I don't think iCloud is your solution.
For the first one, check with your security camera software, they usually have this option of broadcasting, so you'll know how to access it.
For the later, you should use something like Dropbox (www.dropbox.com), since iCloud file sharing is, up to this date, app restricted.
    Hope it helps.

  • How can I switch one contact from SMS back to iMessage?

My mom has an iPhone.  I recently tried to send her an iMessage, but it wouldn't go through and asked if I wanted to send as SMS.  I clicked yes.  Now, weeks later, I can't change it back to iMessage.  I've deleted the history and tried to start over.  I deleted her iPhone number from the contact and re-added it as an iPhone and it still sends as Text.   Everyone else that I text with an iPhone goes through as iMessage, so she is the only iMessage issue.  Any help would be appreciated!!  Thank you!

Okay, I hope she is able to take care of her problem. You can point her to this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4268

  • How to retrieve a deleted iMessage that was not backed up

hhow do I find a number I didn't save but sent a iMessage to?

If it is just the number you are looking for - not the message itself - and you can recall at least the first digit or two, you may be able to locate it accessing the recent contacts in the Messages app. Start a new message; type in the first characters of the number (at least as many as you can recall), and look for recommended entries that have an icon. Those should be recent contacts that are not in your contacts app.

  • Is there any way to retrieve old deleted iMessages?

So I deleted some iMessages off my iPhone 5 back in Marchish... and now I would like to know if there's any way to retrieve them. I mean it goes through iCloud right so just because I deleted it off my device should mean there's some way of getting them back. The last time I had backed up my files onto iTunes was in December so unfortunately the backup files aren't in iTunes to retrieve them that way. I am okay with using a third-party application if I have to. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

    I'd say no
but you could try talking with your carrier if they keep some
backup of your texts in the whole monitoring people name they maybe able to help you
but there are no recycle bin or undelete feature of ios devices

  • Retrieve backed up bookmarks on Ipad

    Hi!
So recently I backed up my ipad on the PC. Then restored original settings and the back up as well. I don't set my ipad to sync because I prefer to manually manage most of the stuff -- and use the back up function instead.
However, while I can retrieve most of the apps and podcasts, my ipad bookmarks are missing! Have done a lot of research on the net and most of them say that the ipad safari bookmarks should be automatically backed up when I back up the ipad in itunes. Has not happened for me though.
Am not worried about the contacts and calendars coz I just set those to sync with gmail. But can't do that with the ipad safari bookmarks.
Help, anyone know how I can get my bookmarks back?

That is the wrong profile folder and only stores the cache files.
You need the profile folder part in AppData\Roaming to get the main profile folder files.

  • Cannot make contact go back to iMessage, sticks with SMS

A few days ago, I tried to send an iMessage to my wife who also has an iPhone. The iMessage service was down (got the 'Delivery Error' icon). I then chose the option to send as text message.
Now whenever I try to message her, the message is always sent as SMS (her name is in green as is the text). For the life of me I cannot figure out how to get it back to sending her iMessages. Tried turning iMessage on and off. Turned SMS on and off. Nothing.
Anyone else run into this and know how to fix?

Maybe the issue is with your wife's phone.  If you type in her name and it's green it could mean that she has imessage turned off.
    double check her message settings.
Are you having any issues imessage other iphone users?

  • HT1766 need help retrieving backed up iphone info on itunes

Went to the Apple store yesterday with iphone (blue tooth and wifi not working) and power cord (mac book) issues.
Since the iphone 4s had already been replaced  once (due to blue tooth and wifi issues) I backed up the phone using itunes on my computer.  The tech at the genius bar said there was a problem with the iphone 4s, a bad sensor or something like that, bottom line it wasn't fixable.  Somehow, while trying to get my phone to work, (making sure it was sync'd and back'd up etc) the tech upgraded the version of itunes in my computer.  Whoops, now my phone won't retrieve all info I had backed up in itunes because he also upgraded my iphone to OS 7.1.  He offered to upgrade my computer to leopard 6 for free since he hadn't checked the version of my itunes before he upgraded.  BUT it would take over an hour and there was a possibility that I may loose every thing on my computer, had I backed it up????  The answer was no because all I thought I was going to do was get a new power adapter!  I did not want to risk loosing all my pictures etc so passed on the free upgrade.  Backed up the computer as soon as it was charged enough once I got home.
So my question is two fold, is there any way i can revert the itunes back to the earlier version I had (and no I'm not sure what the version was), retrieve all my phone info, then go forward?  Or since my computer is now backed up, how difficult is it to upgrade from OSX 10.5.8 to the next level 6.1 ?  I live 1+ hrs from the Apple store and would rather not go through the appt etc again if possible, was hoping for help here.

It's been a while! It's only pulling info up from 2010

I accidentally deleted an iMessage which contains step by step directions for something I'm trying to do.  Is there any way to get it back.  It's from 12/26/13.

You can recover it if it is in an iCloud or iTunes backup otherwise it is gone.

  • Cannot Change Text Sending Back to iMessage

I had been having a problem sending iMessages.  I am hoping that I have fixed it now, but I hadn't done anything about it for weeks.  Both of my parents have iPhones, and I have not been able to receive their iMessages (we have been using a different messenger service because of this).  Everything is sending to them as texts.  Now that (I'm hoping) I have iMessages working again, I am given no option to send as an iMessage to them--only text as I have been.  How to I make it so that I can send them iMessages again?  Or does that mean that I haven't actually fixed the problem?  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hi amberkf,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to send iMessages to your parents iPhones, try these steps first:
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your iPhone as new.

    All the best,

  • How to Retrieve back the deleted repository

    Hi all,
In Console, If we have choosed delete repository by mistake and now iam not able to view the repository.
Is there any way to retrieve those deleted repository?
All your help is much appreciated, Please!!
    Thanks,
    Pradeep.

    Hi Pradeep,
If you are taking back-up of repositories regularly, you can unarchive the .a2a file with the same repository name which got deleted by you accidently. It will contain all the information. So please check the repsotory archive file .a2a file with the basis team, you should unarchive it with the same name which would act as back up of your deleted repository.
Note: Upto date archive would be better as older the archive .a2a file, it may miss some records.

    Mandeep Saini
