Retrieving data disk of faithful PB 12"

A close friend of mine has been the proud owner of a PowerBook 12" for several years. She recently dropped it... cut a long story short; A Genius at an Apple store diagnosed the logic board as faulty.
She has her data on the hard drive of the PB, which we believe is still fully functional. Despite using Time Machine the backup was corrupt! I've checked the spec document (http://download.info.apple.com/AppleSupport_Area/Manuals/specs/powerbook/L29912AEN.pdf) and this confirms the machine has an Ultra ATA disk.
My question - what size disk is in this PB, 2.5" or 3.5"? Would the follow unable us to extract this disk from the PB and connect it to her new MacBook (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48965)?

The faulty PB goes into a kernel panic whenever it's booted. Therefore, if I recall, we'll not be able to get the PB into target disk mode?
Not necessarily true, and it costs nothing to try it. You don't even have to have another Mac or a FireWire cable to run the following simple test.
Just start the Powerbook up while holding down the T key, and keep holding it down until the Firewire icon appears on the built-in display. If that doesn't happen, and instead the machine KPs, freezes or otherwise misbehaves, then you're right: Target Disk Mode won't work for you. If the FW icon appears and starts moving slowly around the built-in display, Target Disk Mode should help you out quite a lot.

I am trying to join information from two related web services within CR XI. I have successfully set up the web services as data sources have been able to get to the point where I get good data back. However, when I try to pull in certain fields, I get an error that says "Failed to retrieve data from the database/invalid argument provided". Here's the scenario:
The web services are structured as follows:Web Service 1 (Artist) has attributes of Artist Name and Date of Birth.Web Service 2 (CD) has attributes of CD Title and Release Date. Underneath each CD are songs, each of which have a Song Title and Artist Name.
I have defined both web services and defined a link between Artist.Artist Name and CD/Song.Artist Name. I am able to run a report with Song Title and Date of Birth that crosses web services. I am able to run another report with Song Title and CD Title that crosses the different levels in the second web service. However, if I add CD Title to the first report or Date of Birth to the second (both of which effectively force CR to employ the link between the two web services AND the CD/Song hierarchical structure in the second web service, I get the aforementioned error.
Any assistance understanding how multiple web services can be linked in this manner would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about your exact situation, but having similar problem with another application and have tracked down to security. Added user to group Domain Admin and it works fine. It appears to be accessing a subdirectory which it does not have permission to use and then times out and returns the "invalid....". Seems that once the query just over a certain size (and I'm not sure what triggers this) it needs to make use of temparory file disk, intead of ram.
I'm still trying to track down which temporary it's trying to uses - so if you have any ques.

Take a look @ PowerShell cmdlets for dedupe here:

Of your interest are Remove-DedupeSchedule and New-DedupSchedule ones. Try removing set schedule
you have now, making sure the status is "no jobs" and then create new schedule to see would it make the difference.

There are so many passwords.. which one do you mean?
TC password or disk password in the TC.. no problem.. soft reset.
Or recover the password.. via the Tesserax method.

If you encrypted the backup in TM and have forgotten that password you are doomed.. there is no way to recover it I know of.. there is a warning.. very clear.. do not forget the password.

"Failed to retrieve data from OVM Manager"

I'm trying to setup Cloud Control 12c Private Cloud environment. My machines in OVM pool have local disks so there is a repository per physical machine, plus one shared repository on NFS (OVM lists all those repositories in its UI)
When I try to navigate to VM Manager->Administration->Storage Repository page here is an error dialog I get:
"Failed to retrieve data from OVM Manager. Please check log file for details"
I've tried performing VM Manager->Synchronize, but that didn't help.
Let me note that I can go to other pages like Administration->Network without any problem.
What is a log file to look into? I tried looking under /u01/app/oracle/Middleware/oms/sysman/log but found nothing useful.

What is your crystal reports version ? CRXI or higher?
And does your filter bject consists of apostrophie s fields?
If this is the case then this is a known issue try installing the latest service packs or fix packs to see if it resolves the issue?

Retrieve Data from Failing Hard Drive of iBook G4

I have a iBook G4 which crashed. The message on Disk Utility says *"S.M.A.R.T. Status - Failing"*.
My question is, how can I retrieve data that I hadn't gotten a chance to back up?

I think the drive should be fine. Here is a list of Seagate HDDs for your computer. If you see the drive you are looking at there, go for it, although I suggest you consider a larger HDD. The price difference is not that much.
If you plan to install this HDD yourself, you should know that it is a bit of a challenge, although very doable. The iBook is the most difficult Apple laptop in which to swap out a drive. You will find step by step directions at ifixit. Sorry, I don't know whether yours is the 12" or 14", so you can navigate to the correct directions for your computer.
Here are few tips you may find helpful:
• Print out the ifixit directions as well as the screw guide ahead of time.
• Be sure you have the right tools. You don't want to damage the screw heads or you may never get them out. And the Torx 8 screw driver is critical.
• I use small medicine cups one for the screws in each step. I nest them so that the last ones out and the first to go back in are on top. You can use an ice cube tray, egg carton, dixie cups etc. (Some users report cutting up the screw guide and placing the applicable section in each container.)
• Be very careful pulling out leads. Hold the lead as close to the plug as possible and wiggle (the plug ) to loosen its grip. Don’t hold the wires and pull as that can damage the cable, or worse, in some instances pull the wires out of the plug. Indeed, some users have pulled the socket off the logic board! Use needle nose pliers or tweezers if you can access the plug, or nudge the plug with a small instrument to help loosen its grip.
• Use force gently in removing parts. Separating upper and lower case takes some doing. Use a plastic tool (spudge) so as not to leave marks.
• Refer to the screw guide when reassembling computer. Putting longer screws in the wrong place can perforate the circuit board.

Can not retrieve data in Crystal Report

I have a problem to load data from Crystal Report in an SBO form with the ActiveX DI object : the Crystal Report Viewer message display : 'Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details [Database Vendor Code:208]'
It seems do not change the name of database in SQL Crystal Report query : My SQL query in Crystal Report file is a generic query : it must run with all custom database with the same datatable ; so the database name in FROM clause must be change with the SetLogonInfo : but it do not run !
Have you an idea ?

Can we retrieve Data of Single Dimension in multiplecolumns in Excel Add-in

Hi All,
I have strange requirement of having single dimension in two columns while retrieving data from essbase using Excel Add-In.
Logically I feel it is not possible however we are looking if there is any possibilty of work arround for this requirement.
Whenevr i am trying to retrieve data using a macro on a single column we are able to successfully do it. But in case of multiple columns we are unable to do it.Do let us know if there is any work arround or alternative method to handle this requirement.

Not completely sure what you mean by "single dimension in two columns". Normally this request comes down to wanting to show multiple levels from a dimension, e.g...

"100" "100-20" 34567...which is definitely not possible.
If you just mean data like this (with multiple columns from the same dimension)...
________"100-10" "100-20"
"Sales" 12345 34567...then that should work fine.
If you could post a sample of what you'd like to see, it would be easier to answer.

Above message says that your registry is not consistent and some of the parameters are missing from registry.Or
Account installing SQL server does not have permission to access this. I think case can be here that account with which you logged into your system to install SQL Server might not have certain privileges. Can you take help
of domain admin account add it as a local administrator in this machine always right click on setup file and select run as administrator. Before this make sure you remove all SQL Server components from add remove program

The following error is coming while trying to retrieve data from BW BEx query (on ODS) when the Characters are more than 50.
In BEx report there is a limitation but is it also a limitation in Webi report.
Is there any other solution for this scenario where it is possible to retrieve more than 50 Characters?

That warning / error message will be coming from the MDX interface on the BW server. It does not originate from BOBJ.
This question would be better asked to support component BW-BEX-OT-MDX

Any way to use OBDC in SAP to access MySQL DB and retrieve data

I'd like to logon to an external MySQL DB (can de done easily enough with PHP) but I'd like to do it with ABAP if possible.
Connecting via OBDC I should be able to retreive the data from the DB and then use it in my SAP application.
Some databases will allow connection via

If you can make this type of stuff work for a MySQL DB i'd appreciate the answer.
Using PHP has a drawback as you need to have it installed on the front end PC and run in Foreground.
The EXEC SQL commands run in batch which is what you need if you are talking about 100,000's of records from an external DB.

Currently it doesn't seem to support MySQL.
Now that SAP has taken over again the development of MAXDB I can't see it providing direct MySQL to SAP functionality.
MAXDB is available but that would mean changing the entire architecture and we don't want to do that.
I think probably the best route to go would be to create a BAPI which is capable of performing a logon to the remote MySQL DB server, get the data and either send it back as IDOCS, an external flat file, or as an internal table depending on the volume of data to be retrieved.
The good thing about MySQL is that the command line interface makes logging on and retrieving data quite simple.
This data is actually wanted in a BI / BW system to provide for a number of business proces analyses.
I did think abut using "Web Services" but the data retrieval will essentially be done offline.
There is no requirement currently for transferring data FROM SAP back to the MySQL database ( although if you've ever dealt with top level management you know how quickly developments can change).
PHP for all it's drawbacks is the really easy way - but we'll have a problem doing this in background from the SAP servers. For foreground tasks it's a real doddle if you have php on your front end.

A table say T1 contains column like Emp_id,Code.
and there are several Code like C1,C2,C3.
Another table say T2 contains column like
Emp_id,C1,C2,C3.Here the value of the code field of the
T1 table is now column of the T2 table.And the amount of
each code of T1 table is equal to column value of T2
table.
Now I want to retrieve data from T2 table like

I cannot retrieve data like this using all_tab_columns.
I can only getting the column_name but cannot its value.

We have a number of reports that we created. yesterday they were all working fine. today we try to open them and most are generating an error.
The error is:
Error while executing query and retrieving data.; nested exception is:

ReportWriter exit abnormally
Does anyone have any insight into what is going on?
My version information is:
Hyperion System 9 BI+ Analytic Administration Services 9.3.0.1.1 Build 2
Web Analysis 9.3.0.0.0.286

And also click on check option by opening the query in Query designer,as Mr . Arun suggested.
And if you get any error in checking, see the long message(detail).

Crystal Report error trying to retrieve data from a user table

Hi,
I'm making crystal report application with VS 2005 and I need to retrieve data form a user table. I'm using Pull method, I configure the connection and parameters by code.
I think that the problem could be the @ that is used to identify these tables. Please, if some body had this problem before and have a solution, please let me know asap.

I had the same problem today. I upgraded from Crystal Version 8 to 11 and the problem was solved. Maybe it is too late for you, but I wanted to post the solution if anybody else has the same problem.
