Retrieving lost data

Hi,
i recently upgraded to the iphone 5s, i plugged it in to my mac for the first time today. Only for it to restore to my old iphones back-up, deleting the photos etc i had already taken on the 5s to date. I do not have my photo stream on, or icloud set up yet. Just wondering if there is anyway to retrieve the photos?? Thanks

I am afraid that the only solution is to find a company that can retrieve lost data from the Blackberry.
Do you perhaps know one ?
No. Remember, BlackBerry data is locked down and irretrievable.
If you have pictures/media on the media card they should retrievable easily. Data on the device, no.

  • Is there a way to retrieve lost data

I tried spotlight and it seems some of my iMovie files are gone. I don't have a backup. This was a result of a computer crash. Is there any third party software that I could use?

    1. To recover lost data try using File Salvage
    2. Are you sure the Spotlight index wasn't damaged in the crash? Try re-indexing: In the Spotlight PreferencePane, drag the HD to the Privacy Pane, leave it there for a few moments, then drag it out again. Allow it time to re-index.

  • How to retrieve "Lost" data; zire31... help

I have a Palm Zire 31 which no longer charges.  The reset button does not even bring up a screen. Once when I hit reset I got a home screen showing 2004.   I have backed up some of the data which is on a Excel spreadsheet on my computer.  However, unfortunately, I had not backed up the device recently and so there is data there that I do not have.  The Palm desktop does not contain any data either... I did not back that up properly.
    I have three questions:
    (1) Can I verify that the charger is working correctly?
    (2) Is there some way to restart this old device so that I can retrieve the data there and then back it up?
    (3) Is there a way to reload the data that exists on the spreadsheet onto a new Palm Zire 31, or newer, which I would purchase?  If so, what model do you recommend... and how would I load the data from the spreadsheet onto the new device?
    Post relates to: Zire 31
    Post relates to: Zire 31

If your Zire is totally without a charge for more than a few days, then all of the data that was on the handheld is gone.
    1.  You'll need another compatible device to plug into, to see if your charger is working.
    2.  We cannot diagnose such an apparent hardware failure over these forums.  I suggest plugging it in and trying a Hard Reset.  This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:

    3.  Without knowing what kind of data you have saved to a spreadsheet (i.e. what program(s) the data came from), we cannot possibly know how or whether it can be restored to a replacement Palm device.  As for what kind of replacement device, go onto eBay and search for the Tungsten E2 or the TX.  They were the two most recent models, either of which would be a huge upgrade from the Zire 31.  But they will all be used and/or refurbished.

  • Flashing Question Mark in Folder at Startup - Retrieving Lost Data on HD

I've had my macbook for 9 months and Thursday it started making a clicking noise. I remember accidentally opening iMovie, then all my applications slowed down. The rainbow wheel wouldn't go away and everything froze (clicking noise continued). So I shut it down manually using the power button and instead of starting up, the flashing question mark in a folder popped up. I took my computer to an Apple Store and they told me I can either get the hard drive replaced, meaning all my data would be lost, or I could contact a hard drive recovery company to try to retrieve as much of it as possible. They said it would be fairly expensive ($500-$1000)..
Does anyone have any experience with any of these companies? Do they try to fix your old hard drive (I've noticed that a number of other people have had problems with 9-month old macbooks) or do they retrieve as much data as they can and save it to a new hard drive? And how long could this process take? I am a college student and I need access to a computer as well as the information on my own laptop.

Funny I has a very similar problem with my 8 mo old MacBook on the 15th and got the same reply from the Genius at the Apple Store today.
I spoke with someone at one of those companies located in the Boston area. They could look at my computer with in the hour if it was an emergency, turn around time could be pretty quick or take up to a week. They charge $95 to look at it and then will give you a list of files they can retrieve. You can then make a decision as to whether they should go ahead and recover. The fee for them to actually recover your files is $500 at a minimum and it could be higher. They do not fix your hard drive. They said my warranty would still be valid when they were done. hope that helps...I can't decide what to do for myself, it was just pictures that I had not backed up yet. Good luck.

  • HT4623 How do you retrieve lost data?

  • Can't retrieve lost data

I lost my phone and now when I rebooted it I can't find my notes or text messages is there anything I can do?

This was really helpful for me as I was looking for the application iTunes, too, and couldn't find the music, and now I can, so thanks.
But where are my pictures? There doesn't seem to be a corresponding iPhotos pictures file. I went to Pictures, but then there is only a mish mash of some random stuff, and I don't see either my iPhoto album folders or my event folders or folders by labeled by date. Any ideas on where they could be?
I want to delete all the movies and pics currently on my iPhoto on my laptop and be able to use the time machine storage when I need to retrieve something, but since all I am seeing on Time Machine is my iPhotos application (not folders w/ pics), I'm hesitant to delete anything. Help!

  • How to retrieve lost data from trash recently deleted with in 10 days.

My computer was recently hacked and they forwarded my mail for 2 days till I caught it. Also they had mail deleted after forwarding. Trash is empty. I want to see correspondence to protect my self. Thanks

    Basics of File Recovery
    Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location.  OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone.  Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
    General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro.  Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive.  Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk.  Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.

  • TS4036 If Iphone is unplugged during restore can you retrieve lost data?

While I was updating my iphone with the cloud my daughter unplugged my phone to try to use it. Now I was not able to restore any of my pictures or work apps that I had. Is there any way to retrieve these things???..... Especially the pictures?

Only possibility that could work, and it's probably too late for you now.
Immediately turn off Wi-Fi & Cellular Data on the Phone.  Activate Airplane Mode.
Remove SIM card if it has one.
Now, do a backup of the device to iTunes.  Once that has been secured, then put back in your SIM card, and turn Airplane Mode off, turn Cellular Data & Wi-FI back on.
If you did it in time, then the device will still wipe clean, but you've got a backup saved to iTunes for you to restore back from.

  • Way to retrieve lost data?

    Hi,
My computer shut down due to a power failure while using iWeb. I was working on something very important and is there a way to retrieve what I did...
    Thank you...

When any computer suddenly loses all power, any unsaved work that was open in any application is irretrievably gone. There's no recovering it. Any version of it that had previously been saved will be on the hard disk wherever you saved it, and will open right up normally. Subsequently changes that were unsaved are gone.
If your MacBook Pro's battery was charged (even partially charged), then as soon as the power went out the machine should have switched instantly over from AC to battery power, without any effect on your work. This would be true of any Apple notebook computer; the batteries in such computers serve as uninterruptible power supplies in the event of a power outage. Are you not using a notebook Mac? If you are using one, is its battery totally dead or not present at all?

  • Retrieve Lost Data from Installation

I made the most stupid mistake! I erased a few programs from my computer (ichat, garageband) and recently I decided to reinstall them. I tried to doing it so by selecting these items from the installation cd. However, it did not work. So, I decided to reinstall the whole leopard system without thinking it would clean up all my files (pretty much giving me a new computer).
Fortunately, I backed up all my files in September. However, I am trying to see if it is possible to recover a huge project I worked on in the last month. Is there any program or way to access files on the system before I reinstalled Leopard?
    I'd appreciate any advice!

You didn't sync it to your computer with other purchases?  Audiobooks can only be downloaded from the iTunes Store once per fee paid.

  • HT201250 Retrieving lost data

I don't have Time Machine. I'd synced my gmail account to my Mac mail account. I then deleted some really important mails on gmail thinking that they were backed up on the Mac Mail. However, they've been deleted from there as well. Can I retrieve these?

Not if you deleted them from your GMail account and did not have a backup.
