Retrieving more recent notes

Recently I created a note on my mac book, then copy paste it to my mail tab so I could further edit it on my iPhone afk, today I plugged my iPhone up and it began to sync and normally it asks me to choose which version of the note I want to save but I was playing a game when I plugged it up so I did not pay attention. When I was done playing I noticed that I had a computer update and that my mac needed to restart to apply it and so I did it. When I came back I guess my mac chose a note for me, but it did not pick the most recent one. Is there anyway to retrieve the newer note? I have not emptied my recycle bin and I would really like to get that back

Not a Mac user sorry, but I thought I would mention that
there are two flavours of the player - Normal and Debug player. To

Hi guys, so we have 2 iPhones in my house, both on the same Apple ID so that my mum and I can share everything. I have just got an iPad mini, and would like to use iMessage on it with my phone number, but the iPad only picks up other more recently added number (not mine, my mums) when I go to message settings. Is there a way to make the iPad default to other number?

  • I would like to retrieve and save more recent calls?

My recent call list keeps going away after one day.  Can I retrieve older "recent calls"

I've never seen that; I have 100 calls, going back 6 weeks. Do you sync with a corporate Exchange server? If so your company may have set a security policy to delete calls after 1 day (although I did not think this was a policy that could be set).

If you bought the music with another itunes account, then you will have to authorize the computer for that account.

Go to iTunes > about iTunes.  What version are you running?  If necessary, hold down the option key while starting iTunes and create a new, test library so it will start.

    Hi,
This error generally arises when your system datetime is not in sync with the Domain Controller datetime. Try following steps:
    1. Check if the Windows Time Service is running on your machine or not. Try restarting this service and then restart host instances. Then run your script.
    2. If this does not works, have a look at this
    link
    Hope this will help.

  • Will more recent MacBook Pro 15' Display Assemblies be compatible with my mid 2009 MBP?

My question will be geared towards folks who have experience doing self repairs on their MacBook Pros but I do welcome all helpful input. It breaks my heart to say that my MacBook Pro was dropped and now has a broken LCD/LED screen with a dented Display Housing(Lid) but the Front glass Display is fine. It is currently acting as a desktop with an external monitor. I am looking to do some self repairs as the price they charge at the genius bar isn't worth it for the older model and I am comfortable enough to do the repairs myself. I've been doing some research and it is possible to get the pieces individually(Not through apple directly) but now it becomes a compatibility game. In short, I have a mid 2009 15' 2.53GHz macbook pro but I will post a link to my tech specs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP544
My two options for self repair are either to
    A) Buy an entire Display Assembly which I can swap out with my broken one      OR
    B) Buy a new LCD/LED screen and Display housing
I am leaning towards option B because the cost to replace the LED display is much cheaper but I am having no luck finding a relatively cheap, non damaged 2009 15' Display Housing. Some online stores that do sell it go for ridiculously high which in the end would make option A cheaper. I don't actually need to replace the Display Housing for the computer to work but I can't stand to look at the dent so I'll be doing the replacement.
So back to my original question. When searching for parts or an entire Display Assembly, would more recent models such as 2010, 2011, 2012 or 2013 parts be compatible with mine? Or were all models created differently and must be replaced with same year/model parts?

Yes.  Any 2.5" 9.5 mm thick SATA HDD, SSHD or SSD will fit and be compatible with your MBP.
    Ciao.

I need your help with a decision to use iPhoto.  I have been a PC user since the mid 1980’s and more recently have used ACDSee to manage my photo images and Photoshop to edit them.  I have used ProShow Gold to create slideshows.  I am comfortable with my own folder and file naming conventions. I currently have over 23,000 images of which around 60% are scans going back 75 years.  Since I keep a copy of the originals, the storage requirements for over 46,000 images is huge.  180GB plus.
I now have a Macbook Pro and will add an iMac when the new models arrive.  For my photos, I want to stay with Photoshop which also gives me the Bridge.  The only obvious reason to use iPhoto is to take advantage of Faces and the link to iMovie to make slideshows.  What am I missing and is using iPhoto worth the effort?
If I choose to use iPhoto, I am not certain whether I need to load the originals and the edited versions. I suspect that just the latter is sufficient.  If I set PhotoShop as my external editor, I presume that iPhoto will keep track of all changes moving forward.  However, over 23,000 images in iPhoto makes me twitchy and they are appear hidden within iPhoto.  In the past, I have experienced syncing problems with, and database errors in, large databases.  If I break up the images into a number of projects, I loose the value of Faces reaching back over time.
Some guidance and insight would be appreciated.  I have a number of Faces questions which I will save for later.

Bridge and Photoshop is a common file-based management system. (Not sure why you'd have used ACDSEE as well as Bridge.) In any event, it's on the way out. You won't be using it in 5 years time.
Up to this the lack of processing power on your computer left no choice but to organise this way. But file based organisation is as sensible as organising a Shoe Warehouse based on the colour of the boxes. It's also ultimately data-destructive.
Modern systems are Database driven. Files are managed, Images imported, virtual versions, lossless processing and unlimited editing are the way forward.
For a Photographer Photoshop is overkill. It's an enormously powerful app, a staple of the Graphic Designers' trade. A Photographer uses maybe 15% to 20% of its capability.
Apps like iPhoto, Lightroom, Aperture are the way forward - for photographers. There's the 20% of Photoshop that shooters actually use, coupled with management and lossless processing. Pop over to the Aperture or Lightroom forums (on the Adobe site) and one comment shows up over and over again... "Since I started using Aperture/ Lightroom I hardly ever use Photoshop any more..." and if there is a job that these apps can do, then the (much) cheaper Elements will do it.
The change is not easy though, especially if you have a long-standing and well thought out filing system of your own. The first thing I would strongly advise is that you experiment before making any decisions. So I would create a Library, import 300 or 400 shots and play. You might as well do this in iPhoto to begin with - though if you’re a serious hobbyist or a Pro then you'll find yourself looking further afield pretty soon. iPhoto is good for the family snapper, taking shots at birthdays and sharing them with friends and family.
Next: If you're going to successfully use these apps you need to make a leap: Your files are not your Photos.
The illustration I use is as follows: In my iTunes Library I have a file called 'Let_it_Be_The_Beatles.mp3'. So what is that, exactly? It's not the song. The Beatles never wrote an mp3. They wrote a tune and lyrics. They recorded it and a copy of that recording is stored in the mp3 file. So the file is just a container for the recording. That container is designed in a specific way attuned to the characteristics and requirements of the data. Hence, mp3.
Similarly, that Jpeg is not your photo, it's a container designed to hold that kind of data. iPhoto is all about the data and not about the container. So, regardless of where you choose to store the file, iPhoto will manage the photo, edit the photo, add metadata to the Photo but never touch the file. If you choose to export - unless you specifically choose to export the original - iPhoto will export the Photo into a new container - a new file containing the photo.
When you process an image in iPhoto the file is never touched, instead your decisions are recorded in the database. When you view the image then the Master is presented with these decisions applied to it. That's why it's lossless. You can also have multiple versions and waste no disk space because they are all just listings in the database.
These apps replace the Finder (File Browser) for managing your Photos. They become the Go-To app for anything to do with your photos. They replace Bridge too as they become a front-end for Photoshop.
So, want to use a photo for something - Export it. Choose the format, size and quality you want and there it is. If you're emailing, uploading to websites then these apps have a "good enough for most things" version called the Preview - this will be missing some metadata.
So it's a big change from a file-based to Photo-based management, from editing files to processing Photos and it's worth thinking it through before you decide.

  • I can't uninstall Firefox version 11 from my MAC, nor can I upgrade to a more recent version of Firefox.

I believe that I have a corrupted version of Firefox. I have followed the procedures both for removal and for upgrade that are posted in the support forums, and neither are effective for me.
I do not have a conventional Firefox icon on my screen, rather I have a grey question mark. When I attempt to deposit that question mark icon in my wastebasket, it just bounces back out.
When I have tried to upgrade to a more recent version of Firefox (and I've been trying to upgrade with each new iteration of Firefox from version 12 to the current version 32), I receive an error message that I can run only one version of Firefox, and the upgraded version is rejected in favor of version 11.
Additionally, Firefox version 11 blocks me from adding any other programs onto my Mac. I want to get rid of version 11. How can I do it?

Dear ideato--Thank you for your suggestion. While I was able to drag a shadow of the Firefox icon from the applications folder to the dock and drop it into the wastebasket, the icon remains in the applications folder and Firefox version 11 is still on my computer blocking every attempt to add a program or to upgrade to the current version of Firefox. The question mark is still on the dock, too. Regards--DavidK126

    Questions:
1- I know i'm short on RAM, but will my machine gonne be slower than it is if i upgrade?
I want to install os 10.3.9 so i can upgrade some software like quicktime and ffmpeg that need a more recent OS. I'm already used to getting the rainbow cursor when i open many apps at once, but that's not a big problem for me since i'm 75% of the time under masOS 9.
2- How much disk space is used for 10.3.9 or 10.4?
With os 9.2.2, os 10.2.8 and many software, i'm under 2 gigs of drive space, witch leave me a 7.5 gigs for my documents witch is more than enough for me.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Both Panther and Tiger require at least 128MB of RAM. My recommendation is get as much as you can afford! Your iMac can take up to 1 GB RAM (2 x 512 MB chips).
    2. Leaving out additional languages and printer drivers, a Mac OS X install can be trimmed to about 2 GB in size.
If you use the "Archive and Install" option, Mac OS X will only update its System and Apple applications. Your user settings, documents and third party applications will remain untouched.

Which is a more recent version of FlexUnit: flexunit-4.1.0-8 or flexunit-4.1.0_RC2 ??

  • My iPhone 4S with Maveriks iOS 10.9 died. I'd like to retrieve a recent backup using Maveriks iOS 10.9. Help! .

My iPad 1 doesn't recognize the most recent Maveriks backup. I am guessing because it doesn't recognize Maveriks (t does earlier backups). Help! Photos of grandbaby. If I borrow a more recent iPad or a friends newer iPhone or ....? Is there a way to recover the 12/18/13 backup that shows in my iTunes? I can recover a 9/15/11 earlier version but lose all the baby photos.

The iPhone 4S was running 10.9 Mavriks OS and was backed up in iTunes. It is decease and I bought an new smartphone that is not Apple. The backup, which contains baby pics, shows on iTunes.
The iPad 1 is running 5.1 or .2 OS which is the most up to date OS for an old iPad 1.
When i back up the iPad on iTunes and then try to restore the iPhone back up onto the iPad is only shows an old 2011 iPhone back up.
I am guessing it is because the iPhone OS is too new and incompatible with the old iPad OS.
I wonder if I borrow a friends new iPad or iPhone if I can recover the pictures and then back them up on iCloud (I used iCloud but didn't realize it only kept the last 30 days (24 of 1,000 pics).

  • When situation causes Firefox cache file to have Windows modified date more recent than the access date?

I'm reviewing a report from a forensic examination of a hard drive from a Windows machine. In that report are Firefox 3.x cache files where the Windows modified date is more recent than both the Windows created date and the Windows accessed date, with the latter two dates the same. For instance, the modified date might be March 23, 2011 at 10:30 am, and the created and accessed dates might be March 17 at 9:50 pm. What actions, by Firefox, a user, or some other program (other than a date-modification tool) would cause this state of affairs? I'm generally familiar with these dates and under what conditions they change, but have found no doc explaining this particular situation...

    In your example,
*the site was originally visited on March 17 at 9:50 pm and the cache entry was created; at that time all three dates should be the same
*the user visited the site again and the information in that cache file was modified on that second visit, March 23, 2011 at 10:30 am
*my experience makes me agree with the first answer in the first link below that accessed timestamp on Windows system is not always accurate; '''''AND''''' accessed timestamp differs for files and folders as defined in the third link below

  • I want to upgrade my OSX from OS X 7.5 to something more recent. What about Yosemite ? Or 10.8 ?

I want to upgrade my Mac OS 10.7.5. But I see Yosemite has a very bad record from the forums I read? so what should I choose : Mas OS X 8.0 or a more recent version, and which version ?
    Thanks for your help.  Jehan

Who do you suppose posts on forums about Yosemite? The majority that have no issues at all — or those that started with underconfigured, or failing hardware; that had deleted part of the operating system, or installed anti-virus/anti-malware/so-called cleaner applications, or upgraded the machine, but not their multiple obsolete third-party kernel drivers, or Power-PC applications? That's the short list.
I upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite, and have had absolutely no issues.
Providing your hardware meets the requirements, you can only upgrade from 10.7.5 to Mountain Lion (10.8.5), or Yosemite. Mavericks is no longer available. The system requirements are the same for Mountain Lion and Yosemite, per your Mac mini. Mountain Lion is availabe from the U.S. Apple Store, and Yosemite from the OS X App Store. Upgrade the mini to 8GB of memory. That is what I have in mine.
