Retrieving notes from dead iPod

Hi everyone, I have a first generation ipod that is dead, will not turn on, not sure if it is the battery or something else. Is there someway that I could get the notes (350) off of it? If I take the hard drive out and swap it into a working ipod, will that do the trick? I'm thinking of going this route rather than trying to get the dead ipod repaired because the home key is also not working, and for some reason you have to be right by the router for it to pick up the wi-fi. I had not synced the ipod with my laptop in a long time, so there is no backup of the notes.

I had written many notes right before the ipod died and had not synced the ipod with my laptop in such a long time that if there is a backup of the notes, there would only be like 20 of the 350 notes. If I swap the logic board with the built in solid state memory chip into a working ipod touch and all goes well, then all my notes, Safari bookmarks, contacts & apps would be there?

I Backed up my iPod Touch 5th Generation iOS7 onti my MacBook using iTunes
    Later, I lost the iPod.
I want to retrieve as much of the data, especially photos, as possible ftom the backup.
I do not have another iPod to use the restore function.
Is there any other way to retrieve the photos or any other data from the backup?

Is there a way to retrieve notes from notepad if the phone powered off lost charge) before I hit the done button?

If the phone doesn't power on and isn't seen by the computer then you wouldn't be able to pull data off it with the USB connection to your computer.
You could pursue data recovery if the notes are very valuable, but the cost can be similar to having data recovered from a failed computer drive(possibly prohibitively expensive).

I am running Windows 8. Although my contacts and notes from my Ipod touch  show up on icloud my calendar entries do not show up even though they do show up in my Google calendar and my windows phone calendar. Any suggestions not already covered in trouble shooting articles?

As I mentioned earlier, you have to decide which calendar you want to use.  You can either use Google or iCloud, but not both.
If you want to use your iCloud calendar, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Calendar section) and set this to your iCloud calendar.  After doing so, all new events you add to your calendar will be added by default to your iCloud calendar, and as a result, will appear on icloud.com and your computer (if it is syncing calendars with your iCloud account).
If, on the other hand, you want to use your Google calendar (as it sounds like you are doing with your iPod), simply add the same Google calendar to your phone and your computer.

  • Does anyone know to how to copy notes from an ipod to an ipad

Does anyone know to how to copy notes from an ipod to an ipad

See iPod: Storing and reading notes to extract the existing notes on the iPod.
If you only need to view them on the device Dropbox would be one way to go.

  • I have a new iPhone. I want to transfer Notes from an iPod Touch 3 to my iPhone using iCloud but I can't get anywhere. Help.

I have a new iPhone and I want to transfer my Notes from an iPod Touch 3. I've tried using iCloud but can't get anywhere. Help.

Since you have purchased a new Mac (which, BTW, is not typed in all capitals) why not buy a Time Capsule <http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/> which is designed specifically to work with OS X and Time Machine?
You don't say what part of your Sony "crashed." If it was not the HDD it is possible to take the computer apart, put the HDD in an external case, then recover the data off of it (including the music) simply drag-n-drop. If it was the HDD that "crashed" that makes it more difficult.
If you are able to recover the music from the Sony you can then add it to the iTunes library on the Mac and iTunes Match will then scan, match and upload the tracks to be mirrored in the cloud.

There is no trash can.  When you delete, they are gone.
You may be able to restore from backup.

  • LOST NOTES FROM THE IPOD APP

Had to re-install the OS on my iPod because of a hardware problem. Set it up (and synced it) under a different name from my original in an attempt to overcome (unsuccessfully) the difficulties which I was having. Now I do not have my personal notes from the original syncings. Is there a way I can go into my computer (iTunes) and retrieve my Notes from the original syncs and import them into my current syncing arrangements?  Thanks.

    Hi,
As far as I am aware, no, since you re-installed the iOS software under a different name.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do I retrieve pictures from my iPod to my computer

So I've had my iPod (1gb) for years now and I just started using it again.  I noticed that I have pictures from my children when they were younger in it and I need to take them out.  How do I do this?

There's no way to do this using iTunes, unless you used a very specific setting to sync the pictures to the iPod.  To see this setting, select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, on the Photos tab, there is a checkbox that says Include full resolution photos.  If that setting was previously checked when you synced those photos to the iPod, then you CAN retrieve them.  On the Summary tab, check the checkbox for Enable disk use (if it's not already checked).  Apply the change (if you changed that setting).
Using Windows or Finder on a Mac, open the iPod as a "disk."  There is a folder named Photos, and inside that folder should be the full resolution image files of those photos.
If that Include full resolution photos checkbox was NOT checked, there will be nothing there you can use directly.  There is only an image database with low-res images ("thumbnails") that fit the iPod's very small screen (and save iPod storage space).  There may be third-party utilities that can extract the low resolution images from the iPod, but they would look very bad blown up to computer screen size.

  • Retrieving tunes from an ipod

i am running i tunes on xp. is it possible to retrieve all the
tunes i have previously uploaded back onto my pc from the ipod
    and if so how
i cannot drag tunes from the ipod to the pc

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

The iCloud backup does not include non-Tunes purchased music and photos that were synced to the iPod. The iCloud backup does not also included a few other things included in the iPod backup that iTunes makes.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes does also not included non-iTunes purchases and photos synced to the iPod.
free programs like iFunBox with copy non-iTunes purchased music and some other things from iPod to computer.  A paid program like TouchCopy is needed to copy photos synced to the iPod to a computer.

  • Can i transfer voice notes from my iPod touch to my mac book pro

    Yes

Sharing voice memos with your computer
You can sync voice memos with the primary iTunes library on your computer, then listen to
memos on your computer or sync them with another iPod touch or iPhone.
When you delete a synced memo from iTunes, it stays on the device where it was recorded, but
is deleted from any other iPod touch or iPhone you synced. If you delete a synced memo on
iPod touch, it's copied back to iPod touch the next time you sync with iTunes, but you can’t sync
that copy back to iTunes a second time.
Sync voice memos with iTunes: Connect iPod touch to your computer and select it in iTunes.
Select Music at the top of the screen, select Sync Music, select “Include voice memos,” and
    click Apply.
Voice memos synced from iPod touch to your computer appear in the Music list and in the Voice
Memos playlist in iTunes. Memos synced from your computer appear in the Voice Memos app on
iPod touch, but not in the Music app.

  • Pixelated video mirroring from Macbook Air (X10.8.5), but not from my iPod i0S7

I don't understand it. when I mirror anything from the macbook, the output on the Apple TV is pixelated, as if very low resolution. E.g., streaming Amazon. I streamed the same content from my iPod and the output on the Apple TV was perfect.
This is a new problem--just in the last couple of weeks I think. I don't often mirror from either to Apple TV, but I know I had excellent resolution from both in the past. Gone through all settings and am mystified. Any ideas?

    Hello ekeby,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Try the steps in this article and see if the image quality improves.
About AirPlay Mirroring in OS X

    Optimizing image quality
    Resolution matching modes
You can choose between two desktop resolution matching modes that let you select which display will have the best image. When AirPlay Mirroring is turned on, select an option under "Match Desktop Size To:" in the AirPlay Mirroring menu extra.
Match Desktop Size To: Apple TV
AirPlay Mirroring changes the desktop resolution to best match your Apple TV, resulting in a 16:9 image that fills the HDTV screen. This setting often produces the sharpest image on the HDTV. The aspect ratio and/or resolution of the built-in Mac display may change to accommodate the Apple TV.
Match Desktop Size To: This Mac
AirPlay Mirroring scales the contents of the desktop to fit on the Apple TV, leaving the resolution of your Mac's display unchanged. Use this setting for the sharpest image on your Mac's display. Depending on your Mac model, the resulting image may not fill the HDTV screen.
    Have a nice day,

  • Can i delet music from my itunes but not from my ipod 120gb ipod

is there any way to delet music from my itunes library without the next time i attach my ipod 120gb it deleting it from my ipod because i have just run out of space on my hard drive and need to clear some space to put more music on my ipod. can any one help me?

Yes, however it's not necessarily a good idea to have the iPod holding the only copy of your media. It can become corrupt in which case it should be restored which involves deleting & replacing the contents. It may also easily be damaged, lost or stolen.
With this in mind, if you only delete media for which you have suitable backups, there are two possible apporaches. First you can switch to manually managing your music. Once you have transfered a file to the iPod you can delete the original from iTunes & your hard drive. There are certain benefits from automatic sysncing however which can be maintained with a different approach. You can delete original material from your hard-drive, leaving the entry in iTunes alone. When you come to sync iTunes will issue an error message to the effect that it cannot sync the missing files, *but it will not remove the exisitng copy on the iPod*. You can also suppress this error message.
In the long run however I would recommend that if space is becoming an issue you purchase an external drive and move your libray out to it. These are very affordable and would provide space to backup other important documents.
