Retrieving of exchange rate - Excel Add-in/Planning

<p>We have entered exchange rates in Hyperion Planning desktop andrefreshed it to Essbase.  We would like to be able to retrievethese rates in Essbase Addin and have not been able to do itdespite retrieving all the possible combinations ofdimensional members.  We are sure that something ismissing but is unable to detect it.  Can someone please adviseon this?  Le'ts just assume that we only have Accounts andEntities in Custom dimensions.  The others being the defaultScenarios, Versions, Time Periods and Years.  Appreciate anyfeedback.  Thanks</p>

You will be able to use Essbase Excel Add-in to view the exchange rates. They are stored under the HSP_Rates dimension. Just make sure that you use the dimension name itself during member selection for Entities, Versions, and Currencies dimensions.<BR><BR> Select the members for each dimension as follows:<BR><BR> Scenarios: (scenario associated with the exchange rate table)<BR> Years: (year(s) to which the rates apply)<BR> Time Periods: (level zero time period(s) to which the rates apply)<BR> Versions: "Versions"<BR> Currencies: "Currencies"<BR> Entities: "Entities"<BR> Accounts: "HSP_Average", "HSP_Ending" or "HSP_Historical"<BR> HSP_Rates: "HSP_Rate_currencycode" eg. "HSP_Rate_USD"<BR><BR><BR>-Shoba

  • PDF Form to retrieve historic exchange rates?

I've been wondering how practical it would be to create a PDF form similar to the webpage www.xe.com/tec/. We would like to create a form with the ability to retrieve the exchange rates for each dated line like the form. Is this possible?

In principle, it can be done with some scripting, but the amount of data
you'll have to embed in the file might be astronomical, depending on what
the scope and accuracy of the historic rates are...

  • Retrieving sample basic using  Excel add in

Hi I am having problems accessing the sample basic database using excel, I see the sample basic in Application/Database and I get an error which states that "Unable to load database[Basic]". I get this error for all the the sample databases. The system administrator said the databases were installed with the essbase, but I still can't retrieve them. Anyone has any suggestions as to why this may be occurring. Thanks,

It's not a problem with the Add-In.The database was not Installed correctly. You need to rebuild the Sample Basic application. Can you check to see if all the DB files were installed.Look in the C:\essbase\app\Sample\Basic directory you should see these files, or atleast the outline.Basic.otlBasic.indBasic.esmBasic.tctEss000001.INDEss000001.PAGDo you know how to do this? If you want e-mail me and I'll walk you through it.Regards,Corey BidmeadClarity [email protected]

  • How to upload exchange rate to planning in EPMA?

    Dear expert,
Our instance of Hyperion Planning is built upon EPMA. We know that in classic mode, we can upload exchange rate with outline load utility. We would like to know in EPMA, how can we upload the rate with excel, to the exchange rate table defined in planning?
    Please kindly advise.
    We're using version 11.1.1.3
    Thanks & best regards,
    Annie

    Hello everybody,
I tried to use the OutlineLoad to load exchange rates on a EPMA Planning applications.
    I get the following error:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Planning Adapter loads may cause issues on BMPA enabled applications if metadata is modified.
    at com.hyperion.planning.HyperionPlanningBean.beginLoad(Unknown Source)
    at com.hyperion.planning.utils.HspOutlineLoad.parseAndLoadInputFile(Unknown Source)
    at com.hyperion.planning.utils.HspOutlineLoad.halAdapterInfoAndLoad(Unknown Source)
    at com.hyperion.planning.utils.HspOutlineLoad.loadAndPrintStatus(Unknown Source)
    at com.hyperion.planning.utils.HspOutlineLoad.main(Unknown Source)
It seems the exchange rates load is recognized as a metadata load, and this cause Planning to stop the process.
Anyone found a workaround to load the exchange rates to a EPMA Planning app?
    Thank you,
    Nicola

  • Exchange Rate Type not working during plan assessment in T Code KSUB

    Hello Experts
We had different exchange rate types created for different plan versions. We had Exchange Rate Type Z1 for Plan Version 01.
We had maintained the same in Planning settings for the fiscal year 2011.
We had created a new plan assessment cycle with version 1.
Now when we execute assessment cycle it is not using the exchange rate from 01/01/2011. Instead it is selecting the rate from 01/01/2010.
Is there something wrong when we copied fiscal year 2011 from 2010 for version 01.
Request your inputs and help on this.
    Thanks
    Satya Alapati

    Hi Ajay
    Thanks for the information.
We had not maintained the value date for any of our versions since we keep changing the rates for every period and wish to have the system pick the latest rate for the period.
It has been the case in earlier years also.
    Thanks

  • Exchange rate, plan exchange rate Programs & Function modules in SAP ....

    Hi Friends,
Could anybody please tell me  what are the  " Exchange rate " & Plan exchange rate "  standard programs, function modules  avaialble in SAP  .
    Thanks in advance,
    Ramesh.

Check via transaction OB07 (or SPRO - General Settings - Currencies - Check exchange rate types) usually you will find a "M" average exchange rate (which is used operationally everywhere in Logistics) and a "P" planned exchange rate (used for cost planning)
Exchange rates are maintained via transaction OB08 (or SPRO, same tree - last node - Enter exchange rates)
When programming, use tables TCUR* or FM of function groups like SCUR "Translation of Currency Amounts etc." (CONVERT_TO_FOREIGN_CURRENCY, CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY and READ_EXCHANGE_RATE among others)

  • Validity of exchange rates are not considered in APO DP planning books

    Dear SAP Gurus
There are couple of posts on this topic without any conclusive reply and so I am posting this again.
We plan and manage data in multiple currencies and wish to maintain the same in APO DP. We have defined an exchange rate type in the planning area  which is used for planning purposes. Please note that we have defined only one planning area  for all global products hence data is stored in one currency only.Exchange rates between different currencies for this exchange rate type are maintained in ECC and then transferred to APO via RSA1 using standard functionality. While exchange rates are maintained with validity (valid from date) in this table, APO DP planning books only consider latest exchange rates. This behaviour changes the data in the planning book every time there is a change in the exchange rates and is a complete nonsense.
I believe there is a macro function CURR_CONV_FACTOR() which can be used to bring exchange rates as key figures in the planning book based on validity but given that this macro works only between 2 exchange rates and we use 10 different currencies, its not feasible to use this macro function for all combinations.
Is there any other way to have exchange rates based on validity ? Does SAP has any guidelines / best practice on how to handle multiple currency scenarios in DP.
    We are on APO V5.1.
    Thanks
    Zorba

    Dear Nitish
    Thanks for the message.
Unfortunately your observation is not correct. If you change an exchange rate with future validity,
currency data in the entire horizon (past and future) adopts to that exchange rate.
It doesn't matter whether KF is ready for input or not as data is stored in any one currency only in PA and conversion happen only when you change the currency in the planning book (column 0)
Do some more testing and you will notice the above behaviour.
btw, which version of SCM are you on ?
    Cheers

  • How to view exchange rate table in essbase?

    Hi,
I have created exchange rate table in Hyperion-Planning application.
Now I have to view that exchange rate table in essbase.
By using HSP_rate...? is it the write answer to view the exchange rate table?
If I am wrong then Could you please tell me how to view the exchange rate in essbase?

    Hi,
Exchange rates are stored in the Planning Relational store and refreshed to Essbase. Below is a guide to help you find exchange rates that Planning should have refreshed to Essbase in, for example, Essbase Excel addin.
You can set up the Essbase Excel addin to look at the following intersections, for example:
    Rows
    Accounts
    HSP_RateType
    HSP_Historical
    HSP_Average
    HSP_Ending
    HSP_Rates Dimension
    HSP_Rates
    HSP_Rate_USD
    HSP_Rate_AUD
    HSP_Rate_CAD
    HSP_Rate_JPY
    HSP_Rate_GBP
    HSP_Rate_EUR
    Columns
Months of the Fiscal year's rates you want to see.
    Other Selections
Select the specific Scenario (i.e. Forecast, Actuals)
Select the specific year the rates were entered to (i.e. FY02, FY03)
Specify the TOP LEVEL of Versions, Entities, or Currencies.
If the retrieval informs you that you must select a value for any required custom dimensions, make sure to select the top level member for that dimension on your spreadsheet.
    Hope it helps...

  • Exchange rate type for version - error message GP541 during confirmation

    Hi FICO Experts,
I bumped into a problem during confirmation in CO15. (I would like to get the SFG by mvt 101 and consume the raw material by 261).
The error messase I get is:
Maintain the exchange rate type for version 000 in 2009
    Message no. GP541
    Diagnosis
You want to use plan version 000 with controlling area 1000 in fiscal year 2009.
You have not specified an exchange rate type for this plan version for fiscal year 2009. Since the update of all currencies in 2009 is active in the control indicators of the controlling area, currency conversions are possible and sometimes also needed.
It is therefore necessary to specify an exchange rate type for plan version 000 in year 2009.
    System Response
The system will not accept your entry.
    Procedure
    1. Please maintain plan version 000 first using the function 'Change Plan Version', or
    2. correct your typing error.
I'd like to ask you to please help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Csaba

go to Maintain Version at SPRO-Controlling-General Controlling-Organization->Maintan Version and do what ever it says. Provide Exchange rate type P or M would resolve your issue

  • Exchange rate diff. influencing the available cost of WBS-element

    Hi all,
here is a intricate problem I need help to solve. I am not so very experienced withon CO/PS, my main competence is within PM. This issue involves PM/MM/PS and CO so I am not sure if this is the correct group to post to, but I give it a try..
In PM (Plant Maintenance) workorders the u201DPlanned Costu201D is calculated.  Exchange rate type for the u201DPlanned costu201D is picked from the CO Cost Version u201D0u201D that uses exchange rate type u201DPu201D. This is a exchange rate type that have one yearly fixed exchange rate. The actual costs are posted with exchange rate type M, which is daily updated.
The Planned cost in the workorder is a part of the u201DAssigned Costu201D that are influencing the available budget on the WBS-element. u201DRemaining/Residual order planu201D.
In cases where the PRQ/PO are created in other currency than the Company code currency we have a problem:
The difference in exchange rate are causing the u201DAvailable budgetu201D to be too low u2013 and the only workaround I have found is to decrease the planned cost in the WO to release the available cost for the Budget. (make the available cost higher )
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?
    - I have thought of setting the exchange rate type for the planned cost to be the same as for the actual costs u2013 but it is not recommended to change the exchange rate type in CO for cost version u201D0u201D and not a good ide to change the exchange rate type for actual cost eather. This will also not solve the problem of exchange rate difference caused by PRQ/PO beeing created for a whole year for varying exchange rates.
    - Is there a way to exclude the u201D Remaining/Residual order planu201D from the u201DAssigned Costu201D? And what consequences will this have? Only cost from PRQ/PO will appear? (Since internal material (reservations) and internal hours not triggers a PRQ/PO)? I see there is a transaction CJE5 where you can exclude the u201D Remaining/Residual order planu201D from the u201DAssigned costu201D u2013 but I think this will only exclude it from beeing shown in the report S_ALR_87013558?- not from the calculation of available cost at the WBS-element?  which is what I need. (see Note 668240)
-Is there any u201DExchange rate differenceu201D setting in the customizing u2013 how exchange rate difference are treated for PM orders? And will this help my problem?
    Best regards
    Ellen

    Hi ,
    try this way...
Go to T-code>CJE0>Enter CO Area-->and execute the report 12KST1A  ->in the selection screen -->
go to menu -->system -->status check the program name and ...copy
next go to se38 and copy yhe above program name and execute and use submit report with selections,,,,

  • PO - Exchange rate - Fixed

    Hi
I have a set of PO's which does not have any receipt. In that set of PO's, for some PO's I can able to change the
Exchange Rate fixed from tick to UN tick. But for some PO's it's not possible.
Please give me some hit about the Exchange Rate - Fixed configuration.
    Thanks
    ARAS

    Hi
The control parameters are paased from the Project systems.
In Project system, Exchange rate are defined for planning costs and revenue.
You can find the Exchnage rates in the following manu :
SPRO--> PS --> Costs --> Planned costs --> Define exchange rates. (Here you can observe fixed exchange rate check box against each exchange rate). These exchange rate types will be mapped to Project profile.

  • TDM-Excel-Add-In controlled by vba

    Hello
We've got an application that generates many TDMS-Files. Now I have to import these files to Excel.
I use the TDM-AddIn and this works fine when I do the import manually.
But I'd like to automate the import using VBA.
I tried the trick with "SendKey" (see http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=60&message.id=5441&query.id=12678#M5441)
but this works (on my systems) only with Excel 2003. Unfortunatelly it has to work with Excel 2007 as well.
Has anyone an idea in this direction?
    Many thanks
    Raffael

    Hi Raffael,
your question is very interesting. I used my contacts and asked at R&D for DIAdem in Aachen for any informations on this. They told me that there is a new version of the Excel-Add-In planned for release in nearly 2 weeks. This means you should wait a little bit and then you can use a new API with several features like VBA-Programming and also something like controlling the Excel-Add-In from DIAdem-Script.
I gave the link you posted in this forum, to the developers and they will reply there as soon the release is finished.

  • Are two Exchange Rate types possible in Controlling ?

    Hi SAP Experts,
My Client wants Exchange rate type "P" for Planning/Budgeting only and Exchange rate type "M" for all other documents in controlling.
In versions for fiscal year 2011, Exchange rate type "P" was configured and all documents in Controlling have been posted with exchange ate type "P" till now. Now Client wants two different exchange rate types only for documents that get posted in controlling.
Is there any way to restrict exchange rate type "P" only for Planning/Budgeting and Exchange rate type "M" in other Controlling documents ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    K.S.K

Thank You very much Ajay Maheshwari. I have tested the scenario in our testing system and it worked fine. The system picked exchange rate type "M" in CO actual postings and exchange rate type "P" for CO planning, since "P" was maintained in versions for year 2011.
    Thanks again for quick turnaround.

  • Updating exchange rate

    Hi Friends,
Im trying to find a way to update the currency exchange rate when there are some variations. We are initially defining a exchange rate in OB08 ,and planning the data accordingly, but when there is some variation in the exchange rate do we need to update it manually? or can we have any process to update itself.
For example: We create an exchange rate for the date 30-10-09 and plan the data ,and if there is any variation in the exchange rate and if we execute the report  after 30-10-09,the report should display the values according to new exchange rate.
Please provide me your valuable answers and help me out in finding a way..
    Thank you
    Harika

    Hi Santosh,
Im also having same problem in updating the exchange rates ,but in my case we are not using daily exchange rates but MTD.
when i tried using this programe it asked for From and To Exchange rates and Changes Since,I gave the values and executed and its showing a short dump..
can u help me with this.

  • Excel Add-in Error.

    Hi Guys,
I have got the below error when I retrieve the data in Excel add-in:
    ESSBASE ERROR:
Essbase has encountered an internal excel error. Your sheet will not be over written and none of your data will be lost. However, you are strongly urged to exit excel and restart in order to clear up the problem.
    Many Thanks,

    Hi Hari,
We worked with oracle on this , and here are the steps provided by them
If you do not use the Visual Explorer functionality from within Essbase Excel Add-in, you can eliminate the error by renaming two files.
    1. Navigate to the \Hyperion\products\Essbase\EssbaseClient\bin directory
    2. Rename the file so the extension is not an executable, i.e. hve.exe to hve.exe.ORIG
    3. Rename the DLL file so it is not a valid data link library file, i.e. hve.dll to hve.dll.ORIG
and also bug has been raised with number 8214299.
