Retrieving previously purchased songs after crash

My computer crashed so hard it left a hole in my floor.I had backed up 80% of my music. the 20% I didn't back up I recently purchased. can I get those songs or do I have to buy them again?

Unfortunately Apple have a strict download once policy so you have to repurchase the music.
However it is worth contacting Apple customer service to see you can persuade them you are a special case.

Trying to retrieve previosuly purchased music from itunes into my library that mysteriously disappeard. However, ' temporarily unvailable' message is given and has done so for the past week. How to resolve?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
There seems to be rather more of this type of issue being reported currently, than there normally is, there may well be a problem with the servers. I would be inclined to wait a while, then try again later.

  • My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes

My computer's hard drive crashed and now that its fixed (my computer) I want to download previously purchased songs from Itunes.  When I'm signed into Itunes and attempt to download from the cloud a text box pops up saying "I need to authorize the computer before I can download previous purchases".  I'm using the same computer that I purchased all previous songs.  So how do I authorize my computer?

    On your Computer...
    Open iTunes...
If you're using iTunes 11 click on the box icon in the top-left corner to see the " Show Menu Bar "
and from the Menu Bar select Store...
From the Store menu, choose Authorize This Computer.
(In earlier versions of iTunes, access this option from the Advanced menu).
When prompted, enter your Apple ID and password, then click Authorize.

  • After itunes upgrade to 7.6, why can't I play previously purchased songs?

Some of my previously purchased songs from the itunes store will not play since I upgraded to 7.6. They played on this computer before, but it now says,"This computer isn't authorized to play this song." I checked permissions, ran disk utility, and don't have the locked checked. I don't want to waste any of my 5 authorizations. I recall this happening to me on a previous upgrade, but I don't remember the solution. All help would be appreciated.

In iTunes, click Store > Deauthorize Computer until it says you're not authorized. Then, choose Store > Authorize Computer.
You can also take a look at the steps in this document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?viewlocale=en_US
Even if you do end up with 2 authorizations on one computer, once you reach 5 iTunes gives you the option to Deauthorize All computers, once per year. So, it's not like you'll never recapture that authorization.
    Hope this is helpful

  • I just purchased a new Mac and I am trying to download my previously purchased songs.   I am only getting a portion of each song though.  What is happening and how do I fix it?

I just purchased a Mac and downloaded my previously purchased songs from iTunes, however it only downloaded a portion of the song (about 1:15) and this appears to be the same on all of the songs.   What is happening and how can I fix it?

    Hello Pork Chop 2,
Congratulations on your new Mac!  It sounds like your purchased songs are not playing completely after you downloaded them.  I recommend to following steps for an issue like this:
    Symptoms
Occasionally, if a song purchased from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC was not downloaded completely, the song may not play back fully. The song may abruptly stop during playback, and iTunes may start playing the next song in your library or playlist.
    Resolution
If iTunes in the Cloud is available in your country, try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Delete the purchased song that is exhibiting the problem from your iTunes library.
Click on the Purchased link in the iTunes Store to view your previously purchased music.
Download your previously purchased song from this list.

Use the Transfer Purchases function in iTunes, or click here and follow the instructions.

On a Mac OS X version 10.4.11 and itunes 9.1.1.  Can't update to itunes 10.6, Mac too old. Trying to get a previously purchased song.  Can't use the purchased option under quick link - nothing shows up and won't let me purchase an already purchased song.  What can I do?

If possible you need to upgrade OS X. However, what you can upgrade to is dependent on what your Mac hardware and configuration is which you have not provided in your profile.

  • HT201272 My computer is authorized, my database was corrupted, I went to download previous purchased songs. I can find them, under the purchased link, it will not let me download,  To the right it says downloaded in grey and does not give me a choice. Wha

Can't DL previous purchased songs on authorized computer

If you still have the entries for the songs in your iTunes library (even if the actual music files no longer exist), then iTunes assumes that you already have them and that there is no need to re-download them - try deleting the entry for one of them from iTunes and then try re-downloading it, and if it works then do the same for the others

  • How to recover previously purchased songs

I had previously had an iPod. I used to buy song directly off the iPod. The iPod had never been plugged into a computer. Since then that iPod has been wiped clean. My QUESTION is: is there a way to get those previously purchased songs on my new iPod. When I go onto the iTunes Store it says those old. Songs have been purchased?

You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • HT201272 Is there a limit on downloading previously purchased songs?

Is there a limit on downloading previously purchased songs?

I think what the message is saying is that if you download past purchases for that account then you will be tying the Mac to that account for 90 days - I was thinking that it was saying that it's already associated with an account, not that you are about to associate it. If you don't want that to happen (which if it's your only account then it shouldn't be an issue), then you should be able to copy the content from your other Mac to it via, for example, home sharing : copying content between computers.

  • HT201272 I'm having trouble downloading a previously purchase song to my iCloud so I can access it from another device.  The iCloud download button is not there.  Help?

I'm having trouble downloading a previously purchase song to my iCloud so I can access it from another device.  The iCloud download button is not there.  Help?

I agree. I don't rely on iCloud as a backup, that is what I have my portable hard drive for. Its 500 GB so I can hold my entire iTunes library several times over on it. I have all my movies on my hard drive, but somehow "The Mist" got deleted off of my hard drive, so I figured "Well, the option to redownload an already purchased movie is available through iCloud, I'll just do that!"
And permissions and download availability have nothing to do with it, the movie's still there, it still allows me to redownload it. The only problem is when I click download, I get that message.
And nobody else uses my computer, but I do have multiple accounts authorized on it. Even still though, I am attepmpting to download it through the account I purchased it under. :/
