Retrieving some pics From Vaults

Hello,
How can i retrieve some pictures (a whole project) from a vault? I have never used this so want to be careful the vault does not replace my current pictures not yet in the Vault. Can I selectively pic the projects to restore or is there a good way to retrieve pictures form the vaults that will avoid me doing other damage in the process?
Grateful for nay help with this.

When you restore from the vault Aperture first makes a copy of your current library (as 'Library Name'_Old) and then reads in the vault library. The resulting library contains ONLY the images from the vault any images in the library that was active when you restored from the vault are not in this library, there's no merging or combing of libraries. But remember Aperture made a copy of the current library called 'Library Name_Old' so you didn't loose anything the original library is still there under the modified name.
My suggestion if you only wish to restore some pictures or a project or two would be to:
Create a new empty library.
Restore the vault into this library
Export the project(s) you want to add in
Switch to the library you want to put the project(s) into
Import the project(s)
Remember also only managed files are saved to the vault. If you had referenced files in the original library only the metadata and any adjustments you made to the files will be in the vault. You made need to reconnect the referenced files especially if they have moved.

Syncing photos with iTunes is explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You'll have to choose the photos you want to sync in the photo pane in iTunes with your phone connected, then apply sync.

  • I just updated to iphone 5. how do i retrieve my pics from icloud to my iphone5?

the pics are listed on the iphone 5 manage storage tab as 8.3 gb on my phone but they mean my old iphone4 while only 39 MB are on my new i[phone 5.  it says the iphone needs to be locked and plugged in to down load and backup.  how do i retrieve my pics from my old iphone 4 icloud to my new iphone5 icloud.  they are no longer on my iphone 4 either - only represented by the 8 GB in icloud.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Photos are not listed separately when you examine your iCloud backup, is the 8.3 GB file that you are referring to your backup file in iCloud.

    You don't.
    Turn on PhotoStream in iCloud.
    Settings>iCloud>PhotoStream
PhotoStream will store 1000 of your most recent photos and synch with iPhoto on your Mac.

For info, most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to Apple or iTunes Support here. It also would have been better if you had posted a reply on your original thread rather than starting a new one so that people know what you are referring to : https://discussions.apple.com/message/22781267#22781267
How did the photos get onto the iPad e.g. were they synced from a computer, taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera conenction kit ? And were the albums created directly on the iPad - if they were and you then 'copied' photos into them, then if you then deleted the original photos from your iPad then you would also be deleting all pointers to them (so they will no longer show in the created albums).

  • Is it possible to recover some pics from a project if the album with the pictures has been deleted ?

Hello! I've accidently delete an album of pics from Iphoto and from my computer. I tried to recover them with several program but it's not working.
The strange think is that i still can see the pictures i'd like to recover in a project, as vignette. But if i look at the project, it is said that there's no picture in it... Any idea how i can do to recover my pics ?
Bonjour!
    GRAND MERCI!

The thing is, i don't understand why i still can see the "vignette" of the photos if the photos have really disappeared from my whole computer !
Events may keep a thumbnail of he last photo they contained, even if the photos have all been deleted.
Can you explain me how to restore my iphoto library ? ...the thing is, i haven't done any backup before haha...
    We can't do magic, sorry.
Have you tried recovery software on the card, or only on your Mac?

  • Retrieving my pics from iPhoto '11

My iPhoto '11 on Lion won't open. How can i retrieve my pictures that were in iPhoto without opening it? I assume there is some hidden folder in Finder that has all my photos, but I don't know what it's called or where to find it.
    Thank you.

What do you mean by won't open?  Does it just sit there in the Dock and bounce up and down without a window opening? What?
Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and try to create a new, test library. If you can  import some photos and then close and open iPhoto to check if the same problem persists. If you can't create and use a new library then try the following: make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
If you can create and use a new library then the culprit is your current library.  If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I'm trying to upload some pics from a disc that was made on a newer imac...

My sister has a newer imac than me and so has a newer version of iphoto on her computer. She made a disc with pictures on it for me and I'm trying to put those pictures in my iphoto and it says:
You can't open your current photo library using this version of iphoto.
You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto.
How do I get my pictures on my computer short of buying the newest ilife?

Go back to your sister and get her to burn the disk not using the Share -> Burn command.
Instead she should simply select the pics in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pics to a folder on the desktop. Then she can burn that folder of images to CD and you'll have no problems importing.
Alternatively, look at that disk in the Finder. On it you will see the iPhoto Library icon. Right-click (or Control-Click) on it and from the resulting menu select 'Show Package Contents'.
A Finder window will open with the Library exposed. You'll see a Folder called Originals. The best thing to do is import from that Originals folder. But these pics will not be edited.

I recently backed up my iphone5 to icloud because I was gonna get a new iphone5. Once I reverted back to my backup, I can only view roughly 30 of my photos. It shows the correct amount of total pictures and videos, but i can only view approximately 10% of them.

Are you able to import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, and if so, can you then view the imported photos on your computer?

  • Who can help me use Time Machine to find some photos from a year ago?

I need to know how to retrieve some photos from a year ago that should be stored on my ext. drive.  I have Time Machine....Mac OSX 10.9.1.  I have tried to do it and Time Machine tells me there is not enough room to download my old Picture Library.  I don't want to download the whole liibrary.  I just want to locate one event or album that contains the pictures I am seeking.  Isn't there a way to open the Picture library from a year ago and select just the pictures that I want to bring back to my current IPhoto Library?  I need some hlep with this.  I have never tried it before.
    Dick

The best solution to your problem is to restore the old library to a volume on an external drive, then open it in iPhoto and export the images you want.
Enter Time Machine and select the item you want to retrieve in a snapshot. From the action menu (gear icon) in the toolbar select Restore ... to... and choose the destination you want. Then click the Restore button in the lower right corner of the display.
