Retrieving songs from Creative Zen Visio

Hello,
I am trying to copy a folder featuring most of music from out of my Creative Zen M back onto my desktop. Whenever I hit paste, I get a message saying that my device is calculating how long it will take to transfer the files. This message usually lasts about 30 seconds, then the folder appears on my desktop--without any of the files inside of it. Is anyone else having this problem? Any tips/hints are appreciated.

Tried a drag-and-drop? I know this sounds a little obvious, but I don't think copy-paste works properly - it's all to do with the restrictions MTP formatting has (i.e. copy-protection).

  • Transfering songs from Creative Zen MicroPhoto to new IPOD Nano 2nd gen

I hope someone can help me! Have spoken to Apple in the UK and they couldn't help me out, but I hope someone here can! I have two computers. One new macbook and an old PC desktop(been upgraded to windows xp service pack2). My question is I want to transfer all the songs off my Creative Zen to save on my mac hard drive (most are in mp3 format, only a few are wma), so I can then transfer a few to my 2nd gen IPOD Nano. How can I do this? I have tried plugging my creative zen into the usb port of the MAC via a usb lead, but it doesn't seem to register its there, so there's no chance of me downloading the songs directly onto the hard drive of the mac. Someone suggested connecting an ethernet lead from my PC (with the Creative in the usb port) to my mac, however my old pc doesn't have an ethernet port. It only has two usb ports.
There must be a straightforward way of transfering the music - otherwise I'll have lost all of my music that I paid for which doesn't seem right.

you could plug it into your windows machine and copy and paste all of the mp3's and wma's to a CD/DVD depending on what your mac has. Then simply drag and drop the files from the dis to the macs music directory.
    does this help
(i ain't very good with macs so i called the music directory the place where music is stored, known as My Music in Windows)
hope that this helps you sort your problem.

  • How do I turn off image/picture from Creative Zen display?

:How do I turn off image/picture/cover art from Creative Zen display?
I wouldn't mind it, but it's almost ALWAYS wrong! Why is that? It seems to pick a random - and I mean random - album cover every time I upload songs. WHAT makes it decide this? I have dance collection cover pics turning up for rock songs!
If someone an help me solve this problem, I don't mind having the images show up.
    Thanks!

    >Hi,
The album art is usually associated with an album artwork and is supplied together with the music tracks. The player will not display it if there isn't one. You might want to make sure that the album art is linked correctly to the music track.

  • Hiss from creative zen 4GB using westone

    hi people,
I have an audible hiss with the new creative zen using my WEstone UM2. The hiss starts the moment I play a track and is also present when I pause the track. The hiss is independent of the volume contol. The UM2 are notoriously easy to dri've. Can this problem be fix using a firmware? Do any of you hear this or I have a defecti've Creative Zen, ie I should bring it down for servicing.
My UM2 detects a LOT of his from my nokia N95. A little hiss from Creative zen, ZERO hiss from my sony u8g.Message Edited by wind30 on 0-02-200705:06 AM

Hmm, i dont see why, usually the higher the impedience, the less his you get, and get get a fabulous SNR from the Zen at 97dB 97dB SNR,. It may just not like the Zen. and you said its regardless of the volume level even if its not playing music? very odd, it may be some sort of bug? i get very little Hiss from my ZVM using 6ohm earphones (has the same SNR).
other than that, how does the Zen sound? is the Custom Eq effecti've? did Creative finally fix the bass boost distortion? thanks

  • Help organizing files through computer:Creative Zen Visio

I had a Creative nomad jukebox Zen Xtra previously. With that MP3 player, I could load a CD then explore the MP3 player through my computer. On that MP3 player I was able to sort by artist, cd, song, size etc easily. With the Creative Zen Vision M I am having a hard time. At first I was loading them in a way that I could sort by song etc but it was having issues when I would load the same song name off a different cd. Example: it would bark if I loaded Ben Folds Fi've: Brick, then Ben Folds Li've: Brick, It thought that the file was a duplicate and wouldn't allow it. I now rip my cds from the creative media source which is what I did with my previous MP3 player. It loads the cd's onto my MP3 player as folders but now I am not able to easily search by song etc. Makes it a real pain to search by artist.Anybody have any tips?

The Playsforsure firmware creates folders for music by artist name. Some people prefer this method but there is the disadvantage you mentioned of not being to search easily by artist/genre/album/track, and also tracks cannot be moved between folders when they are on your player. If the first problem bothers you and you want to work around it, rip CDs to your PC music library only, then transfer the tracks manually to the 'music library' section of your player via MediaSource. This should allow all the tracks to appear all together under 'music library', not in individual folders. The advantage of the new system is that you don't have to wade through a huge list to find the song you want.Message Edited by joshua32 on 05-22-2007:48 PM

Arkaic, here is what you should do:
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    - Download and install the latest Creative MediaSource Player/Organizer 3.30.2 from your product download site.
    - Download and install the latest Creative Zen and NOMAD Jukebox plugin 2.00.9 for Creative MediaSource from your product download site.
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    <FONT face=Helv size=2>
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.<FONT face=Helv size=2><FONT face=Helv size=2><FONT face=Helv size=2>

  • ITunes Unable to Retrieve Songs from iPod Shuffle on newly reformatted lapt

I just reformatted my computer - reinstalling the OS on my HP Laptop (uses XP)....and now, after trying to retrieve music files, which apparently I did not save correctly, iTunes will not allow me to import the songs from my iPod shuffle. I get a message that my computer is not authorized. I followed the instructions and "authorized" my computer, but to no avail - it will not recognize my shuffle - and I cannot even get the music I put onto my shuffle from my personal CD collection - which had been placed onto my music lists prior to my reinstalling the OS. HELP........!! Please.......anyone.....if you are an Apple employee and reading this - why is it so doggone hard to get help in understanding how to use this technology???? Can I get a little help here ????????
thank you anyone -- Robert Bond

Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in iTunes enable it for disk use, this is required for most if not all the utilities listed below so they can access the files: Using your iPod as a storage drive
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and was written long before iTunes 7 so it requires a little adaptation: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and you need to check out that they work with the shuffle as well as the larger iPods. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions

Once you have copied all the songs back to iTunes it will be safe to "Erase & Sync" the iPod on connection to link the shuffle to this new library

  • How to transfer files from Creative Zen Touch to Creative Vision:

Is there a way to transfer my music files from my Creative Zen Touch to my Vision:M?If so, can someone tell me how to do this. ?I know this has probably been asked before but I am new on this message board and am in need of assistance. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you have both the player and you're using MediaSource, just connect both the player to the computer, select one of the player as source and the other as destination and just transfer over it. Note, protected content will not be transfer over though.

  • Moving from Creative Zen Vision M to Litttle Creative Zen

Had 2 Vision M's and replaced the screen twice on one of them !!! Screens gone again and with damaged ones going for silly money on ebay was wondering how people get on with the new(ish) ZEN. The things I love about the vision are the screen and ease of dragging and dropping videos and music. Would the SD card (non) integration frustrate me? and what is the need for converting videos? Would love some feedback !! Thinking of getting a 2gig player with a huge sd card.
ps dont suppose anyone has transferred the screen from a ZEN to a VISION M.
    Thanks in advance

You may want to look at this video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCRBj...e=channel_page The screen seems to be the same size. You could buy a broken one take it apart & see. I may just do that myself since I have one that needs a screen. Also what do you consider to be "silly money" for a screen? I have purchased screens for ZVM on Ebay for under$25USD. I have a Zen 2Gb with a 4GB SD card that I use at work since it's small & I walk on my breaks.. I always have my ZenVM since I can't fit all my music on the other. I do prefer the ZVM. I got the Zen to try it . It's ok it does play the video from the SD card very well. I convert my videos to be used on both players so I don't have duplicate files & both look good on either player.(I don't use Creatives Video Converter http://forums.creative.com/creativel....id=2983#M2983? I use Badak it has a Zen preset.) I guess if I were to buy another one it would be at least an 8GB.

  • Retrieving Songs from I Pod

Help!! I lost all my files on my computer along with it all the music I have on my I pod. I had to format the HD to get my Dell back up running. I have re loaded I Tunes on the computer. My question is how do I retrieve my Music off my I pod back to the computer? The support only shows how to do this if you still have the original I Tunes file on your computer and never lost all your files. All music on my I pod came from CD's not purchsed from I tunes store.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Transfer from Creative Zen to harddr

I am going to erase my harddri've and start from scratch cause I have alot of trash on it, if I do this, can I still transfer all my media in my Creative Zen back to my harddrve and the creative mediasource software. I will install same software and all, I just don't want to have to go back and put all those CD's in.....thanks in advance.... Brad

Of course you can. [size="2" face="Helv">- Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.

However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • Uploading music tracks from Creative Zen Micro to

<FONT face=Century>Is it possible to upload all my tracks from my Creative Zen Micro to my new PC? I had them all saved on my old one and can't seem to find on any support anywhere how to do this. I don't fancy ripping all my CDS all over again!

    Hi,
You could transfer the music content of your Zen Micro to your Zen V Plus without transferring it to the PC first. Do the following steps:
. Connect one player at a time in your PC (XP O/S) and make sure that both of the player is detected.
    2. If Windows have detected it, click on the option Open to View Files.
    3. Open up the Music folder of both players.
    4. From there, copy and paste whatever music tracks you would like to transfer from Zen Micro to Zen V Plus.
It's a good idea to have a back up of all your data and you could use a USB Flash dri've to store it all.
    Hope this hel
