Retrive Japanese data and store into a file
Hi,
I have a table which contains japanese data. My database charset is AL32UTF8. I am able to insert japanse data into oracle table also I am able to view inserted data into oracle table using sql*plus.
I wrote a java program to write a file with table stored data. To fetch that data I am using sql query. When I use ojdbc14.jar of version 9.0.2.0.0. Then I am able to write japanse data file but when I use ojdbc14.jar of version 10.2.0.3.0. Then I found junked data into data file.
Please help me out to solve this problem.

How to collect data and store data through printer port usind Dev'6i

When we make a phone call through a PABX machine, the PABX machine print the call's detail if it is connect to printer. Let us assume, the PABX machine is connected via the printer cable with a PC at it's printer port. Now, the data sending by the PABX machine is reaching to PC's printer port, I would like to collect those data and store in a file(of any format) using Developer 6i. Is that possible? If yes, then how? Do I need to use any ActiveX control? Or is there any other way?

I also need a solution to this problem. But it may require sequance / format of information being sent by weigh bridge to the COM port. Normally the W/b company has their own format of information. We might have to change the COMP port speed also .e.g 9600 BPS, 2400 BPS etc.

For this you need to create directory
Directory Creation syntax:

grant read, write on directory ext_dir to <User>;
please paste the excel file in the particular directory .

The file which contains statistical data at OS level from which the standard job:
SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFMONITOR
takes the data and puts into moni table.
What is the name of the file and where it is stored ?

How to get last modified date and time of a file which is in apache server.
Hi ,
I need to get last modified date and time of a file in remote machine.
This file is in remote machine which has apache server installed.
I am trying to get this information by connecting to apache server from client by giving absolute URI of the file to file object.
URI is got from apache server URL by using toURI method.
when I use lastModified method , its throwing exception , because scheme of URI is not file.
I can't give scheme as file because ftp server is not installed on that server
Is there any other way to get this information .No, unless you can use an FTP client.

How to read from one file and write into another file?

I am trying to read a File and write into another file.This is the code that i am using.But what happens is last line is only getting written..How to resolve this.the code is as follows,

Inserting Date and Time into a date field
Okay I am a bit of a Oracle newbie. I am trying to insert the following date and time into a date field and I don't know how to format the second part of the to_Date() function.
Date/Time: 5/29/2003 7:58:45 PM

I'm trying to write a formula to combine 2 fields (date and time) into one. I would like it to look like this.
2/12/2007 + 12:00pm = 2/12/2007 12:00pm

Thanks that worked but my problem is currently the date field I'm using has a date and time (12/12/2007 12:00am) and the time field has it as well (12/12/2007 1:45am). I've been going into crystal and clicked on format field and just showing the date and in the time field, just showing time. Then I would extract the report to excel then run another formula to get it to work. I'm looking to automate it a little. Any ideas?? -
Convert flat file to XML document and store into Oracle database
First:
I have a flatfile and created external table to read that file in Oracle
Now I want to create an XML document for each row and insert into Oracle database, I think that XMLtype.
Could you please provide me some information/steps.
Second:
Is there performance issues, because everyday I need to check that XML document stored in the database against the in coming file.

Flat file is | (pipe delimited), so I did create an EXTERNAL Table
row1 a|1|2|3|4
row2 b|2|3|4|5
row3 c|6|7|8|9
I want to store each record as XML document. So it will be easy to compare with next day's load and make insert or update.
The reason is:
First day the file comes with 5 columns
after some days, the file may carry on some additional columns more than 5
In this case I do not want to alter table to capture those values, if I use XML than I can capture any number of columns, CORRECT!. Please make me correct If I am wrong.
This is the only reason to try to use the XMLType (XML Document)
On Everyday load we will be matching these XML documents and update it if there is any column's value changes
daily average load will be 10 millions and initial setup will be 60-80 millions
Do I have anyother option to capture the new values without altering the table.
