Return Address on Printing Envelopes

Hi, thought I'd try the built-in envelope printing feature in Address Book and found another anomaly. The return address will combine your address and the spouse entry - OK. But, I've found that it also adds in the father entry. Interestingly, it doesn't add in the brother or mother entry.
This generates the same anomaly if you select your own name to print an envelope, adding not only your spouse's entry, but your father's name as well.
I guess it's back to struggling with Word to print envelopes, but it would be nice if Apple would clean-up/debug printing envelopes within the Address Book. It's so unlike Apple to mess up something so simple.

Thanks for the reply.
I went into Address Book (no option to create a new Address Book record in Mail that I could find) and created a new record with just my name and home address. I marked this as My Card (I guessed this is what you meant by make this my home address). I selected Print from File menu in another Address Book record. I clicked on Label tab in Envelopes option, selected my home address. I could see no option to select a different return address, although I did see the other font and color options.
By creating a simpler, duplicate record for myself, I can certainly fake out Address Book and print an envelope. But that's not my point. I could as simply use another application (Word or a dedicated envelopes application, for example) and work through its quirks as well. My point is if Apple is going to allow multiple addresses and names of family members in an Address Book record, I should be able to use them. I've already learned how to waste 20 minutes configuring Word to print an envelope. In an Apple database designed specifically for Addresses, with a selection to print envelopes, it should be no more difficult than selecting specific addresses, envelope dimensions, and print orientation to get it right the first time with no fuss. Being able to modify font sizes, color, drag a graphic on the envelope for customization would be nice, but the fundamentals need to work first.
I posted this question here to find out if anyone else has experienced my issue, confirming this bug in the Address Book, or more hopefully pointing out that I completely missed some not-so-obvious selection that was causing my printing layout problem. Since no one has, I guess the bug stands.
I'm disappointed because when I saw this functionality pointed out today in an online article, I thought I now had a way to stop having to refigure out how to print envelopes in Word three or four times a year when I need to send out a birthday card. It was when I went to try this Address Book feature out that I found it appending my father's name to my return address.
I guess I feel let down. It's a minor issue, and I can certainly create a temporary address to work around it, but it's disappointing that I have to.

  • Re: Printing return address in Pages

When printing #10 envelopes in Pages, half of return address prints.  I must move the return address to .75" margin to print entire return address.  How can I get the return address to print completely without resetting the left margins?

    Mike,
It's difficult to say from here. Which half prints, and where. Is it possible that your envelope isn't actually a No. 10 envelope?   4.12 by 9.5 inches?
Are you sure that you loaded your envelopes into the printer correctly? Does your printer really support printing on envelopes? Has this worked before, with other templates?
With about half of your return address missing and with 0.75" margin shift as a fix, it sounds to me like you have somehow reverted to 8.5" X 11" paper setting and loaded the envelopes broad side first, printing in Portrait mode. That would put your return address one inch too far to the left.

  • Printing Envelopes Issue with HP Officejet Pro 8600

I have recently purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I am upgrading from the Photosmart series.  I use Windows 7 64bit operating system.  I have no error messages
When I print a #10 envelope, the return address in the top left is partially cut off.  I can't seem to adjust the margins to allow for the return address to print.
Additionally I would like to "save" some custom envelope sizes to accommodate my personal greeting card envelopes.  My other printer allowed for more paper sizes than this one does.
Can anyone offer any suggestions with either of these issues?
    Darrell

    Hi there dlfant,
Check out the post here from Travis_C. He has some steps for installing other printer drivers that should give the functionality you are looking for and hopefully address the envelope issue you are experiencing. Give his steps a shot and let us know if it works out for you.

  • Printing envelopes on officejet 8600 from Endicia, OSX

I've used endicia for years, and my previous three HP printers worked fine. My new OJ 8600, however, refuses to line up correctly on the envelopes. The print is waaaay off to the right, and if I change the printer setup in endicia (as their tech support suggests), I can move the document print partly to the left, but the return address on the envelope becomes cut off long before the "to" address has moved enough to me acceptable.
I tried changing the feed setup inside endicia to all the way to the left, instead of centered, hoping that this would fool the HP, but the printer refused to print, telling me that the paper isn't lined up properly for that alignment.
I'm stumped. Endicia is stumped. Any help?
    Thanks!

I have the exact same problem
endicia wants you to use letter size instead of envelope
but hp 8600 will then reject paper type and not print

  • J4580 problem printing envelopes

My J4580 printed #10 envelopes with no problems until recently.  It now will start printing before it has the envelope in place (before printing I push the envelope as far as it allows) resulting in only printing half of the return address or the envelope gets stuck causing a paper jam.  I've cleaned the rollers but have the same problem.  I have no trouble printing on paper.

The envelope now prints in portait mode ... as I would have expected, but different than the original experience I had.
The problem is that the envelope does not fit into the printer in that mode, and it prints as if the media were 8.5inx11in which places the text on the bottom of the page.
Since the envelope is only 8.75inx5.5in, the text misses the envelope entirely
This likely sounds very confusing. Please ask more questions if I'm not clear.

  • How do I change the font and return address when mass printing envelops from contacts?

I am trying to print envelopes for holiday cards from my contacts book. I want to change the return address name ( from Jane Doe to the Doe Family) in a nice font that is appropriate for the holiday season rather than the board room. It is certainly not in the print details menu.

  • Envelopes do not feed correctly on my HP5610 All in One printer and return addresses get chopped off

I'm running a Windows 8 64 bit laptop and the feeder seems to grab the paper properly but it cuts off part of the return address all the time. I can push it in maybe and inch or so when the feeder starts to grab the paper and this will correct it, but it will cause a jam if it's pushed in too far. It did this on my previous Windows 7 machine as well.

Hello @gttechnic , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I can see from your post that you are running into envelope feed issues.  I'd like to help!
I would recommend performing a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I'd also recommend the document below:

Even though you aren't receiving this error, the steps should help.

  • Return address on envelopes not printing correctly on HP C4580

I'm printing envelopes from a MAC 10.6.8 using Pages.  The software is pretty reliable.  The envelope size is 4 x 9.5.  I set the return address with my logo in it, set the margins, looks good on screen, but once printing begins I never know where the return address is going to be printed.  It does not print like it looks on the screen.  Sometimes it starts printing in the middle of the return address, other times it prints fine, sometimes just feeds the envelope and I can hear printing but nothing is printed on the envelope.  I've had this printer for several years and am very meticulous about loading and aligning the physical envelopes correctly.  It always prints the sending address correctly aligned.  It is frustrating.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Hello @Sc00ter ,  and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you're having issues printing envelopes.  I would like to help!
Do you have the same issue printing envelopes from a different program?
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.

  • Printing my return address on envelopes

    1. at one time clicking on "print my address" button was available as an option when printing envelopes from the address book. don't know what happened but now it is a dulled out gray and thus not available as an option. don't necessarily care wha' happened. just want to know how to correct it. well maybe i do care in order to avoid it in the future. 2. is it possible to put another return address on it besides my own? 3. What are the default mesurements for the numerical boxes for: the envelope size, for: recipient boxes, for sender boxes

Got me. I would post in the Tiger mail and Address Book forum area here:

  • Printing #10 Envelope - Return Address "off the page" & Address Very High

    I'm having trouble printing a #10 envelope.
I have an Okidata B410d printer that Pages seems to subtitle a "Generic PCL Laser Printer."
I went -- File / Open From Template Chooser / Word Processing / Envelopes / Classic Envelope
I fill in the fields and the page attributes shows my printer, #10 Envelope and a landscape orientation.
But when I feed through the bypass tray -- following the little icons telling me face down, flap left, ... -- the result prints the address two lines from the top of the paper and no sign of the return address field (if it existed it would be an inch off the paper to the top if you follow.
So I figure there might be some way to change the setup / margins / headers / ...
I managed to get something sorta acceptable by changing the default header from 0.95 cm to 4.2 cm -- it wouldn't let me go any more. The result had the return field hugging the top of the paper and the main address starting maybe 1 1/2" from the top. the envelope looks funny by I had to get something in the mail today.
Now I'd like to make this right.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

Who knows what I've done but after much trial and error (and more than a few of those pages cut to match a #10 envelope I seem to have something I can work with.
I guess, as you said, there is some funny business between my printer and Pages.
I'll detail the steps as much so I can retrieve if necessary. What I did:
    * Found a template that used a floating text box for the return rather than a header.
    * Changed the page size from the #10 default of 24.13 cm wide x 10.48 cm high to 24.13 cm wide x 24.0 cm high to "fool" it to working.
    * Left side margins unchanged
    * Set top margin to 11.5 cm and bottom to 0.0 cm
    * Dragged the return address floating text box so it is centred top to bottom on the envelope (a look I like)
    * Finished output has return address flush left, centred top to bottom and the address filed aligned with top line of address and return address fileds the same.
    * Saved as a template in my templates.
    * Tested that I could retrieve the template, type in info and print okay.
Like I said ... it ain't elegant but now I can print out a proper looking #10 through the bypass feed of my Oki printer.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Problems printing envelope from pdf file with logo & return address.

I have the 6310 All-In-One Printer. I am experiencing major problems printing envelopes (standard size, #10) from a pdf file that is setup with a business logo, name , and address. First of all, the User Guide on page 63 directs you to load the envelope with the flaps up and on the left. This prints out return address in the lower right corner of the envelope front. I have insert the envelope opposite to the User Guide to get the information printed in the correct location, the upper left corner.
Bigger problem - The logo, which is placed to the left of the business name and address will NOT print out. My preview printer window shows the logo, but it will not print. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
    Suggestions???

  • Printing return address labels

how do i print return address labels of the same address from address book? i can get it to print one, but i need a whole page of labels to use as return address stickers. Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Use a word processor that has templates for Avery labels. Setup one page of labels with your address copied onto each label segment in the document. Save and print using your Avery blank label sheets.
Note that Address Book is not the tool for this. AB is designed to allow you to print a return address on envelopes as you address them to selected entries from your AB or AB can print the addresses of your entries onto an Avery labels' sheet.
A good word processor for the task is Word, but there are probably a number of other choices such as the word processor found in Open Office or NeoOffice (both freeware.)
