Return an image to its original size?

Hi everyone,
When trying to sort layouts in indesign I'm very often scaling pictures until they fit in the page correctly. But is there a way to reset the original size of the image without having to re-import when I want to try a different size?
Thanks,
Chris

The reason for not using that is it scales text wrap amounts and does strange things to the listed weights for strokes and font sizes when objects have been scaled.
If you select the image itself (direct select tool, or double-click in CS5), you should see the current scale percentage in the horizontal and verical scale fields on the control panel. Reset to 100%, then fit frame to content.

  • How can I get a tab to open in an oversize jpg image in its original size with scroll bars when I click on a link?

I have a small program for storing my genealogy names and jpg images of the census pages where each name is found. The images have a thumbnail link that opens in a new tab to view the actual oversized census page. In the new tab the census page is small and not readable. How do I get the jpg image to appear in its original size with schroll bars so I can read the census in the firefox browser without using the zoom feature. It takes several clicks on the zoom to get the image to a readable size and that is time consuming, especially when I have several images opened.

    That works, thank you!
Could I suggest that this feature (the ability to turn off or turn on the auto-resize of images) be part of the Options tab on Firefox? I think it's a setting that some users might want to change fairly often--even toggle back and forth on. It's a little annoying to have to go into about:config every time to do this.

yes/no.  Depends on whether you have checked "preserve original file name in XMP" in batch rename.

Well, when you open the program, the splash screen, the window you see while the program is opening, should make that clear enough. For example:

  • Linked graphic reverses to its original size in alternate layout

Hi, I'm using “Create Alternate Layout” function to export different orientations as well as sizes for my book. However, I’ve encountered problem keeping the graphic (size) inserted in the text frames as it is: the linked graphic in my second layout was resized to better fit the new layout, and I’ve checked every item in “preserve local edits while updating object links”; the graphic is, however, inserted in the threaded text frames (meaning it’s not a single object) in order to keep the text flow. My question is, every time I have updated the contents, the linked graphic in my second layout reverses to its original size. How can I fix this?

I have exactly the same problem. The main photo in my (14) alternate layouts resizes whenever I adjust the size of the photo on the original layout, despite my having checked off all and/or a combination of 'preserve local edits' options in the link options dialogue.
I could just place the photo (unlinked from the original layout) into all of my alternate layouts, but life would be easier if Indesign honored the 'preserve local edits' rules I established initially.
    What's up with that?

  • Accidentally I enlarge a window. Best way to return to its original size?

Sometimes I accidentally enlarge a window. What is the best way to return to its original sign?

Usually there is a place in the window where three colors of dots are, and the Green dot can make the screen larger and then the same one can make it smaller again.
    Not sure if this helps...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • How do i save a file in its original size?

Photoshop automatically scales my large files to 8-12% giving me lower print quality.

Thank you so much for all of your time and info!
I changed the Image Options-Quality to 12 (the maximum, it was automatically set at 10) and chose baseline standard instead of baseline optimized. This results in a 17 MB file (still less than the 18MB file, but I'll take it). I have tried all sorts of combinations and still haven't gotten the original size.
You mentioned color profile and now I'm having all sorts of problems with that. When I uncheck "embed color profile: ProPhoto RGB" The color in the new file is totally different. The original says the color format is sRGB. When I change the profile in PS to sRGB, it looks much different than the original, it looks the same as if I uncheck ProPhoto RGB. I want to make copies of the pictures onto a disc and then give them to different family members to print. Most of them will send it to Costco or somewhere like that to print, but I'm worried that if I save it in TIFF or ProPhoto RGB that not everybody will be able to open the files on their computers.
What is the best way to ensure that the photo prints as closely as possible to what I see on my screen?
I have included snapshots of the same image saved multiple different ways. The first image on the left is the original. You can see in the little thumb nail to difference in colors between the different color profiles. When I uncheck embed color profile ProPhotoRGB, it shows now color profile on the file info. When I change the color profile to sRGB in Photoshop it looks totally different from the original which says is also sRGB.
On a side note, I use Light Room for all that I can and I don't have any of these problems. I just import and export on its automatic presets and everything stays the same.

  • Why do my resized images print out original size?

i understand how to resize images (somewhat). however, when i print them, they are printing as original size. what do i have to do to correct this? i have searched the web in vain, am just not finding info. everything is about resizing only. i am using picture manager. have also tried with paint and photo gallery or something. no one in this house is very computer saavy, PLEASE HELP!!!

Thankyou for your response! Still in need of help!
I am making a craft project. I have resized my image exactly how i want it to be to fit my project base. (No standard sizes work). I made the image smaller, to fit exactly on my base (a heart). I saw there were even templates with a heart, but have not figured that out yet. I used the percentage button to resize my image, with the ratio set to keep the dimensions correct. I saved the resized image. Then I opened it and printed it. It was smaller, but still not right, not how I have it on the screen and not the right size. It is too big for my heart and wouldn't work. I know it must be something simple, some little step I am missing. I need to know how to tell the printer the new size. I am using picture manager. I have a HP Photosmart Plus B210 series printer. I have picture manager, paint, hp photo viewer, windows photo viewer, media center, photo gallery. I don't understand why resizing, saving, then opening that file, still did not work. It still printed out (smaller than original but) not the size I needed. I also edited the image and saved it with a new size, and my editing changes.
This is truly driving me insane! I have spent hours and hours trying to figure it out for myself, as well as searching the web, and asking for help from different forums. (Not to mention wasting lots of ink!??!!!!)
I Truly would appreciate any help,

  • Hero Images Revert to Original Size After Being Resized

    Hi,
I have read many forum questions about resizing hero images in slideshows, but I'm having a slightly different problem:
In order to have larger images in my slideshow I have been resizing the hero images to 500px height one by one (as I can't seem to find a way to edit all hero images together).
But now I am finding that images I have already made larger have reverted back to their original size. This is without exiting the program or even changing windows.
This is already a time consuming process as I'm working on an artist's site and there are multiple slideshows with dozens of images each.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
    Thanks!

  • Unshrink or revert image back to original size after adding headers.

I add headers to PDF files and it shrinks the document so that the header doesnt overwrite them.
When I remove the headers, is it possible to unshrink or revert the image back to the original size?

Do you know what size it was when placed?
The only way I can find to be able to reset a frame to the size it was when it was created is to set the preference for "When Scaling:" to "Adjust Scaling Percentage" and then resetting to 100% will take you back to the correct size, but not necessarily the original position as this is just another transformation, not a reversion to anything. The BIG downside to this setting, in my opinion, is that if you scale a text frame, the listed font size won't change, nor will stroke weights be listed correctly on scaled objects, which can lead to a lot of head scratching.

  • Automatically open any website in its original size?

    hi there
webpages are designed in an original size - most of them different from others.
is there a way to set safari (or any other browser) to automatically fit the window of any new website to the ORIGINAL size of this website? or is there any plug in that would do?
thanks in advance for your help.

  • Linked picture gets smaller than its original size when it's copy-pasted.

This confuses me because some does and some doesn't. A picture always gets smaller when I copy-paste from Mspaint. And some pictures does this too when I just copy-paste itself. So, I need to adjust size manually and it really bothers me, is there any solution for this?

Some application disply images pixel by pixel, that is: one pixel in the image is one pixel on the monitor. Illustrator uses the image's resolution to display it.

  • I have a numbers sheet which suddenly turned up as a thumbnails.jpeg which I can see is a spreadsheet but too tiny to view. How can I open it in its original size and how did this migrate to a firefox doc app?

I have a MAC OSX10.6.8. I use Apple's numbers program to do spreadsheets.
I have a spreadsheet which I have worked on intermittently for 3 years. The last time I closed it in Sept 2011. it was ok. When I reopened it again in Nov it had become a "Thumbnail.jpeg (240x310 pixels.) " I can see that it is the spreadsheet, but I can not enlarge it so that it is useful. It is just a blurred image. I have no idea how this happened. When I click on it, firefox opens so I believe that it is a Firefox app.
    Info from Firefox:
    Render mode: Quirks mode
    Encoding: ISO-8859-1

  • Why can I no longer use my own image in its original dimensions as my wallpaper?

Taking a screenshot and using that does NOT work - I'm still forced to crop the image by 30% or more.  Even editing the image down to a smaller resolution does nothing - not that I should have to do this manually in 2013!!! This is one of the stupidest issues I have ever seen.  Every computer/device in the past 20 years has allowed you to set a wallpaper the way you want using the image you wanted - now Apple has created a stupid and pointless parallax function that some 12 year old thought up at the expense of one of the most basic and essential functions that everyone wants. Just unbelievable. How could they roll out four updates to this horrendous iOS7 and STILL not have fixed this issue!?
I have the iPad 4 by the way, not surprisingly Apple only gives "iPad" and "iPad 2" as device options!!! Sell your Apple stock folks, it's over. I've never seen a more clear harbinger of decline than iOS7.

You already seem to know what the issue is, it is the parallax feature that was added to iOS 7.  From your rant, it appears that your attempt to work around this was not successful.  According to the Apple documents I've seen, they recommend that you enlarge your image (not reduce it).  Make your image have excess space on all sides, which is not displayed on the screen.  This way, when you tilt your device one direction or another, it can shift the image to give the appearance of 3D.
As a photographer, I like to use the full frame of my images, but I also know that I need to leave room around the image as well.  I have some photos I have taken that I can't use because I have them cropped too tightly too, but I have others that work just fine.  Just remember that part of the image file is "off screen" so that if iOS has to shift the image up it has some image that can scroll onto the screen.  It needs this space on all sdes, so just make youre images larger, and keep in mind that a portion on each side will be outside the normally visible screen...  If you don't like this feature, you can always go into the settigns and turn it off.

  • HT2513 How do you get iCal to its original size after having asked it to fill the screen.

The iCal now fills the whole screen and I do not see how you reduce the size.

Mouse up to the top of the screen and then click the blue icon in the menu bar when it appears.
Or you can press the escape key.
