Return M45 -S355 to original factory configuration

I have a M45-S355 that I want to give to my daughter but would like to return it to it's original factory configuration before I do. I know that it can be done with the XP system information already installed somewhere on the hard drive but I cannot remember exactly how to do it. Can anyone help me? I know it just a simple combination of two keys, but which ones?? Thanks in advance.

In those days, the recovery discs that accompanied the computer were all you had. If they've been misplaced, you'll need to order them.

  • How to return original factory installed software

    I just purchased Curves and did the device switch via Desktop Manager without backing up the Curves from old BB to new BB. I really meant to do the synchronizing. Is there a way to remove everything I did and put back the original software, so I can synchronize from old BB to new BB?
    TIA,

     This will restore all the original factory default after I run this?
    Yes, sort of. It is not a "factory default" specifically but close enough. It will do just what I stated, and all of your personal data will be removed.
    Then you will want to do a backup of the old device, and THEN on the new device > Restore > Advanced and select only those databases you want to restore to the new.
    I can understand doing the backup of the old device, but I do not understand what am I restoring in new device? Is it the data from old device?
    Yes, IF you want the data from the OLD device on the NEW device, that is what it will do.
    After running these, then I can synchronize the data from old device to new device, am I correct?
    You're confusing terminology. You won't be "syncing" data from the old device to the new device, you will be restoring data FROM the old device TO the new device if you follow my advice.
    Maybe I don't know what specifically it is you are attempting to do. Why don't you restate it here so that it is clear?

  • GX720 - Return to Factory Configuration

    Hi Guys
    I did a few searches but could not find an answer to my issue. Hoping someone where may know the answer.
    I have a brand new (only out of the box for 2 days) GX720. It is for my son for christmas, I got it out of the box to charge the battery and make sure everything was present. I then stupidly decided to install XP on it for him  . I should have left it alone (I know enough to be dangerous but not enough to fix this) because the XP install failed and it will not boot into Vista anymore. It runs through the bios checks and then reboots itself.
    I do not want to give my son a 'broken' Christmas present, is there a way I can restore the laptop to the factory configuration so that he gets in 'as new'? I have tried the F3 recovery option and the same thing happens, the laptop just loops in the bios check and then reboots.
    My ASUS G70 comes with a restore disk that wipes the hard drive and installs the factory image back on it, but I could not find such a disk in the box. There is a driver CD but I cannot boot from it and there are two blank disks that say on them 'reserved for recovery' which I assume are for burning a revocery image of the laptop once you have your own applications installed.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated ... I do not want my son to think I wrecked his Christmas present.
    Thanks
    Mutley

    Hi:
    if someone set password;
    the shorting way is clear CMOS, you should disassemble bottom door, to find CMOS battery;
    or find DOS booting from USB disk, use debug command;
    -O 70 16
    -O 71 16
    -Q
    Or if we don't have debug[external command] normally not included in standard MS$ package,
    it can be done by my way instead with ASCII chars by writing directly to machine code:
    copy con bk.com|bk {CTRL+M}
    176.230p144144230q195 {Enter}          /* Hold "ALT" and write the numbers, for non numbers use regular keyboard chars. */
    ^Z  {Enter}                                        / * Press "CTRL+Z" then hit "Enter */
    Reboot machine, CMOS settings will be forced by BIOS to reset to their default values, due invalid checksum.
    Where:
    176 ==> ALT+176
    . ==> .
    230 ==> ALT+230
    p ==> p
    144 ==> ALT+144
    144 ==> ALT+144
    230 ==> ALT+230
    q ==> q
    195 ==> ALT+195
    ^Z  ==> CTRL+Z
    9 bytes long. {Last char "^Z" doesn't count, its termination flag}
    Output while typing will looks as:{They{visual symbols} may vary, but it its cosmetic and doesn't matter}
    copy con bk.com|bk
    ░.цpРРцqє
    ^Z
    Where:
    "░.цpРРцqє" <==> B02E E670 9090 E671 C3 in HEX LE order and become to:
    Code: [Select]
    MOV AL,0x2E
    OUT 0x70,AL
    NOP
    NOP
    OUT 0x71,AL
    RET

    Prepare Your Mac for Sale
    Boot from the OS X Installer Disc One that came with the computer.  After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.  After DU loads select the startup volume from the left side list then click on the Erase tab.  Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then click on the Options button.  Select the one pass Zero Data option and click on the OK button.  Then click on the Erase button.
    Note: You can skip the Zero Data option if you are not concerned about removing sensitive personal data from the hard drive.  If you choose to skip this part of the process then it is possible for others to recover data from the hard drive.  The Zero Data procedure will prevent others from getting access to your personal information.
    This process will take 30 minutes to several hours depending upon the size of the hard drive.  After formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Now complete the OS X installation.  At the completion of the installation do not restart the computer.  Instead just shut it off.  The next user will be presented with the Setup Assistant when they turn on the computer just as it would if new out of the box.

  • Recovery CD/DVD does NOT reinstall original factory settings...

    I have a ThinkPad X60S that has a recovery CD set that you can create/burn upon initial startup. The discs installs ALL the OE software that came with the system automatically or selectively. THIS INCLUDES THE X60S SERVICE PARTITION, so you can get a brand new hard drive and return to original factory state without any issues.
    Now with the 3000 K100, I am trying to put a new hard drive in but using the discs that came with the system, it only installs VISTA. The other disc is for device drivers. The other OE software and the LENOVO TOOLS are not even there. Moreover, the SERVICE PARTITION is NOT restored on the new drive.
    Question: What happens if you have to replace the original drive if it dies?

    you wont get a service partition on the new drive even if you use rescue and recover.service partitions are only provided with factory
    installed hard disks..it might not be  a problem after all u got the recovery discs isnt it?
    Cheers and regards,

  • How To reset Safari window size back to original factory setting?

    How To reset Safari window size back to original factory setting?
    I resize my pages often but I don't want to always keep them at random sizes. I want to know the proper method to reset the webpage size back to it default size. Right now it's too wide, and I click the green plus button in the upper left corner and it goes down to a very small size, I click the green plus again and it returns to the Too Wide size. I just can't seem to get it to go back to the default size.
    Thanks for your help!

    You could try this.   Set the safatri page to your convenience by dragging the bottom right hand corner of the page.   Quit safari, then immediately relaunch.   It should start up the same size as it was before you quit.  Then ...
    Go to Safari > preferences and set the page as your home page.

  • Can the original factory SMC firmware be restored?

    I installed the lastest SMC Firmware Update , and my fan is runninng constantly, something it did not do before.
    I also added 2Gb ram at the same time so im not sure if this is related (i did check that the tempreture sensor cable was plugged in)
    Anyway is there a way to restore the original factory SMC firmware so i can see if that is the issue?
    Thanks

    Unfortunately, No.
    Apple has a firmware restore utility. But, it only works in the case of a failed update. In the event of a successful update, you can't go back.
    As for the fan noise, many people have reported that with or without the latest update that installing more memory in their system has resulted in increased fan speed.
    It's weird. But, not uncommon.
    Some people have reported that putting their original memory back in returns the fan to normal speed.
    Now, there is no reason that this should happen. But, it does.
    It is common that people will forget to reconnect the wires properly, and that can cause a faster fan speed. But, you say you checked that.
    Also, some people have reported that there is a foam seal or rubber seal inside the computer that can cause the fans to be noisier if you disturb it.
    I hope this helps.

  • I restored my ipod to original factory settings, now it won't work

    After restoring my ipod to original factory settings (to solve a problem of some of my songs that wouldn't play) I tried to put all of the songs on itunes back onto my ipod. Now, itunes is giving me this message saying it can't read my ipod and that I should restore it again. I can't restore it again becuase my itunes won't acknowledge that my ipod is plugged in or anything. Is there another way to restore it?

    Is this the error message that you see?
    "Disk cannot be read from or written to" error syncing iPod in iTunes.
    If nothing else works, you could try a format of the iPod in Windows. A full format does a check and remap of bad sectors on the iPod hard drive, and you would need to restore the iPod as normal (using the iPod updater) afterward. This can also work when the iPod is recognized by the computer, but not by the updater. It's usually a last ditch troubleshooting effort.
    First, put the iPod into forced disk mode.
    See: How to put the iPod into disk mode.
    On your PC, go "my computer" and right click on the iPod, then choose "format". Ensure the settings are at "default" and that "quick format" is not checked. Now select "format". It will take a while, but when that's finished, restore the iPod using the updater.
    If you need to, reset the iPod to exit disk mode.

    ok...so I had to restore my computer back to its original factory state:( now I have lost all my music on itunes. Can I get them back??  if so, how??

    You can download everything you purchased from the iTunes Store without having to pay again:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Here is the procedure for your reference, using iTunes 10.7. The procedure and screenshots for newer versions are contained in the above link.
    This assumes what you purchased is still available in the Store.
    Open iTunes and click on iTunes Store on the left
    On the right you will see this
    Sign in with your Apple ID, then click on "Purchased" (with the orange blob)
    On the summary page that appears select the tab "Not on This Computer" on the right.
    On the list that appears, select what you want and then click the "Download" button.

    If you made backups of all of your photos and your catalog file using some third-party method (i.e. not using the PSE catalog backup command), then you should be able to restore everything.
    Step 1. Put the photos in the EXACT SAME LOCATION as before. For example, if they were in subfolders of C:\Users\<username>\Documents, then they must go into the exact same subfolders of C:\Users\<username>\Documents.
    Step 2. Move the catalog file to wherever you want it to be, and then double-click on it.

  • How do I reformat a macbook air to original factory settings?

    I am trying to reformat my macbook air to original factory settings. I don't need to use any of the files currently on the HD, so just a clean wipe is all I need. Can anyone help?

    I think there is two ways of doing this. The first way would be using your disk that came with your MacBook Air and it would also be the best way since that will ensure that everything is back to normal factory settings, however if you don't have the disk you might just wanna try another method. The other method is creating a new user account named "Administator" (or whatever you prefer) and then logging into that account and deleting your account (the one that your trying to restore). This will delete all files and user-prefrences.
    *Note: Method 2 won't delete any applications, to do this you would need to use an app called AppCleaner.

    Well, to paraphrase the old line, "What're you gonna believe, that email or your own lying eyes?"
    The first thing I'd recommend trying is to power down your iPad (press & hold Sleep/Wake until the red OFF slider appears, then slide it to shut down), and then boot it back up and try again. You're resetting a bunch of state signals by doing that and this simple action (the first of a series recommended by Apple in your Users Guide) will quite often clear up these sorts of problems.
