Return to OSX 4.10 to save files, then re-install Leopard?

Help!
I upgraded to Leopard easily using DVD, but realized that while I had backed up all of my documents, I forgot about my iphoto library or any of my Firefox preferences, bookmarks, address book, etc. Is there a way for me to "go back" to 10.4.10 and either back everything up, or do the upgrade over again using "Archive and Install"??? Suggestions?

How does CS2 Photoshop use OSX to retrieve and save files?

CS2 Photoshop (PS) no longer will open or save files; instead it goes into limbo. I can import an image from the clipboard and edit it. It will save it, but I can't get PS back to working after that.
This began suddenly about 3 days ago. Since then I have cleared the PRAM, run TechTool and optimized the drive, removed and reinstalled CS2, trashed relevant preference files (I think I got them all)—all to no avail. Interestingly it runs fine on another account on the same computer!
I would like to know what files other than the obvious preference files are used as interfaces between PS and OS 10.3.9, and hear any other suggestions that you might offer.
No other application seems to have any problem with filing, including the other CS suite members.

Since it's only your account that's affected, then it must be something in your account.
Quit Photoshop. In the Preferences folder of your account, delete the entire folder, "Adobe Photoshop CS2 Settings". You will of course need to reset all of you preferences in Photoshop. To avoid that if it's not the preferences that are the problem, just move the settings folder to the desktop. Then you can just move it back.

'Unknown Error' when trying to save files from CS under Leopard

We recently upgraded to Leopard, and reinstalled our CS apps. Photoshop and InDesign work fine. Illustrator, however gives us an 'An Unknown Error has Occurred' when trying to save any file. After dismissing the alert, a window pops up, informing us that, 'Can't save preview, but all other information was saved successfully. The file couldn't be found. ID=-43.' This happens when trying to save a new file, or an existing file, when saving with PDF preview is checked, or unchecked. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I deleted preferences on both machines. The Intel seems to be cured. All file formats save, printing, and importing are functioning normally.
The G5 however is only modestly improved. I can now at least create and save files. Printing also functions. However if I attempt to use the template dialog box or to import (place) a file the dialogs crash the application.
My suspect is a corrupt font, but until I have time to track down which one it is, I'll have to limp along as is...

MBP doesn't save files, then crashes - Illustrator

Hi...I'm in need of some direction on what to do here. My Illustrator CS2 program on my first generation MBP decided to crash and not register any of the saves I made before the crash. I had been hitting "Save" in Illustrator for over 2 hours, and when the program "unexpectedly quit" I went to reopen Illustrator and the file only to find a very old version, not a version saved 2 minutes ago.
It's worse this morning, Illustrator CS2 is crashing every couple of minutes, and the "saved" file is a few "saves" back, if that makes sense. I just can't get Illustrator to save my file to disk, or to memory stick, or the anything else. It's like my saves don't register, and almost anything I do in Illustrator crashes the program.
Is this a hard-drive problem? A RAM problem? I have sneaking suspicions something is up with my logic board..anyways, it's the only other problem with the macbook pro (see http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/sho...101#post487101)
any help, advice, or direction would be appreciated.

Illustrator CS3 puts files in the following places…
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Illustrator CS3
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Save For Web AI 12.0 Prefs
~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings
What you can do is you move all/some of these files to you desktop, reset your AI settings and see if your problem goes. By moving them to you desktop you leave yourself the opportunity to put them back if it doesn't fix things by having AI make new ones.

Cannot open or save files after re-install CS4 on Win7 64bit

Re-isnstallation of CS4 on a win7 64bit plattform was no problem. But - I can not open any kind of files, neither *.psd nor *.jpg. Even creating a new file in Photoshop is not possible. I do not get a message from Adobe/Photoshop.
Now I am looking for any idea to solve this problem.

How Save File using script ?

I am using MAC OSX 10.8.3 and InDesign CS5.5
I use this script to save the InDesign file and run this script using Adobe ExtendScript ToolKit CS5.5

But Script give error
can not save "untitle1.indd" under a new name
where "untitle1.indd" is created indesign file name.

Hi Bill,
I think it is your path problem. (Are you able to save this file in UI there?)
Check:
mFile = new File("/var/New.indd");
mFile.isValid;
You can't go forward until above == true;
You could check how your system records a path using this in ESTK:
mFile = File.saveDialog();
select any file and check ESTK console.
Script is creating a new File object with path you can see (not saving anything), so do it same way.
If you will pass above with true save a doc using:
mDoc.save(mFile);

I'm writing a lot on MW word. I use a desktop, a jump drive, and i-disk. Is there a way to have either mac osx or MW word save the same file to all three sites?

no. you either have to save to all 3 places by hand or use some sort of syncing software like chronosync to sync between folders you are saving to.

How can I save files from disc recovery mode?

My Imac wont boot - disc recovery wants me to save files before reloading OSX - how can I save them?. I have a new external hard drive to plug in.

Shouldn't the System property "user.home" reference to that directory on windows? So if you call System.getProperty("user.home");, I think it should return that path at least up to <User Name>. I never really tried it on Windows though.

How can I navigate to a specific target folder when performing a save file command?

Whenever i click on a Save option for a file, I am eventually presented with a dialog box that gives me a choice of Devices, Favorites and Recent file selections. Which i usually stare at knowing that the actual folder I want the file saved to will not be on the list of options that are presented to me. Nor does there seem to be any way to get around of this dead-end, pre-determined save menu and point the save file process to the folder you want to save the file to. So, when I want to save a file to a specific folder that I have in mind that OSX does not know about, how do I do it?

You have me a bit confused. if you are asking "how do i get a dialog box that i can navigate to any folder with" - there is atriangle next to the file name - click it to "open" and a much bigger dialog box with full finder access wil open. Navigate where you wish and save.
You can also add items to your sidebar.

Hello. I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on a MAC with OSX LION. I also have Photoshop CS6 installed. When I double-click on a file in Bridge CC, it always opens in CS6. If I say "OPEN WITH Photoshop CC 2014", or if I drag the file directly to CC 2014 in the Dock it will open in CC. Since I like to double-click or hit return in the bridge, I am constantly having to wait until the file opens in CS6, quit CS6 an then open it another way to get it into Photoshop CC 2014. I tried to disable CS6 by hiding it, but then double-clicking Bridge did nothing. Any ideas why this is happening?

Check and adjust the File Type Associations in the bridge cc preferences.

When I tried save as a file, I get an error msg:
"Could not save (file name) because the file is already in use or left open."
The file is not open anywhere accept Photoshop.

There is a problem with both Photoshop and InDesign, then we can blame wich ever it is.
1. I open a .psd file in Photoshop CS4 by double clicking it in Bridge
2. This image is placed on a page in a open InDesign document.
3. Doing some changes in Photoshop on the image.
4. Trying to save and get this error message (this topics subject)
5. Deleting the image from the page in ID doc, it is the only one in the document.
6. Can't still save file.
7. Closing ID completely and now I am able to save the file.
I tried turning of Live preflight in Indegisn but that didn't help.
So probably the fault is InDesign or the MacOS. I didn't have this problem with CS3. It is a stupid problem because this type of workflow is pretty common and one would expect it to be solved by now.

No option to save files, save as files in inDesign 5.5

The option to save, save as and copy files are grayed out and not an option for me.
I am having to save my files as IDML files and force quite inDesign to close it.
I see that this has been a ongoing issue...but can't seem to find a real solution or reason why this is happening.
Called Adobe today and it took two hours to get a real person, who just had me reinstall inDesign but the glitch returned.
I have been working with some files that were originally made in CS3...but this is happening with brand new files too.

Well, I wrote too soon. Even with Suitcase Fusion 3 installed, the problem has returned. After about 3-4 saves on a document, the option to save disappears as before.
I have someone from extensis (suitcase fustion) looking at my files to see why this is happening.
For now, I am exporting to idml mode, then I am able to save as the actuall indesign file.
I am on a deadline to produce a 40 page mini book for an Artist's Studio Tour that is happening next month, and needs to be finalized for the printer next week.
(I am regretting that I upgraded to 5.5, but..........)
I am still hoping to find out why this is happening. I know there is a reason for it, and I will not give up until I track it down.
I also may need to upgrade my OS with this macbook pro...but that will happen after the book goes to the printer.
Hard for me to recommend using indesign to the other artists here, but I am not giving up.
I have used it for at least 10 years.
