"Return to Portal" OCS 10.1.2

Does anyone know how to change the URL of the "Return to Portal" link that is used on the different navigation pages? I've seen ways to fix it on version 9 but not on 10.1.2.

Hi,
You need to change it in OID. With the 10g version there is a new feature called the service registry. Take email for example under cn=VirtualServices,cn=Email,cn=Services,cn=OracleContext
there are a number of different URLs that can be modified, including the return to portal link.

We've done it on a seperate AS 10.1.2.0.2, it works and i'ts normally a supported configuraiton. Of course you will also need an OCS database to store ocs data.

Is there anyway to change the image returned by portal.wwsec_app_priv.logou

We have customized the Portal logout page using the example inside ipassample.jar. But our designer have designed another icons for success/failure logout status and we have no idea about how to change the images returned by portal.wwsec_app_priv.logout.
Is possible to make change? And how we can do it?

Hello Friends
We are in the process of designing a workflow to, amongst other things, send an email notifications to employees informing them thet their Pay statements can be viewed via portals (My ESS). Within the email we need to ask the employee if he/she wants to be reminded in 24 hours with another email.
I am wondering if in the past you have sucessfuly:
- Put a company logo in email being sent with the Send_Mail task thru workflow
- Used SEND MAIL too send a link to portals ?
- Allowed to employee to click on "Remind me later" in the email and update the workflow to send a
follow up email in 24 hours.
Example of email is as per below:

You have received an e-mail delivery from XXXXXXXXXXXX that your Payroll statement is ready for viewing in ESS.
To log in to ESS, go to LINK
Click on the Remind me button to receive a reminder in approximately 24 hours

In Workitem you can bring the Logo, But in the email you can send as attachment only.

OCS 10.1.2 using Oracle Internet Directory R3 (10.1.4)

Hello people...
Somebody knows if it is possible that OCS 10.1.2 can use an existing Oracle Internet Directory 10.1.4?
Documentation specify compatibility with OID 9.x versions and obviously OID 10.1.2 and Certify list of Collaboration Suite for Identity Management specify only version 10.1.2 and no for the new latest version 10.1.4.
I think that both documents were written before the release of Identity Management 10.1.4. Are you test in your environments this configuration? works?

A para in a metalink note states that ocs 10.1.2.3 portlets can be deployed on a portal 10.1.4 using IAS 10.1.2 infra structure(but i donot think that oid version is 10.1.4 ).

HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error from Discoverer Viewer to Portal

HI,
I created a tab with a list of workbooks created with Discoverer Viewer and published with Discoverer Portliest Provider (List of Database Workbooks). Another tab contains four Discoverer Worksheets created with the same account. Everything works well but if i click on a report in list and open Discoverer Viewer, when i return to portal and go to tab containing worksheets i see message "HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error" and i'm not able to do anything. I only can close my browser and i must reconnect to portal!
Can you help me?
My portal version is cg (9.0.4), i'm using Windows 2000 ESP and Internet Explorer 6.
I tried with Olin and Mazola but result did not change.
I used a public connection bud i tried a private connection too. Nothing happened.

The application.log file, under the OC4J which running your Discoverer provider, should give you some hints about the problem you're facing.

What is the best backout plan while doing the PORTAL export/import? Is cold backup of the Portal instance a good idea?

ldapsearch -h %OIDHOST% -p %OIDPORT% -D cn=orcladmin -w %IAS_PASSWORD% -b "cn=IAS Infrastructure Databases,cn=IAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext" -s sub "orclResourceName=portal" orclpasswordattribute
... substitute the %OIDHOST% , %OIDPORT% and %IAS_PASSWORD% for your values.
This should easely return your Portal schema password.

Controlling visibility of Web Dynpro Java iView in portal WDJ page

I should be able to use the WDPortalUtils interface in my Web Dynpro Java DC application to get the name of the iView in my Portal WDJ page using IWDPageService method getVisibleIViews(). My intent is to add another iView to this page and programmatically control the visibility of each iView from my WDJ application.
-> Instructions I have found through my online research indicate I should not have to specify a sharing reference because I am using the WDJ framework, but I tried it anyway. It didn't work.
-> I have added DC epbc.prtapi._api public part to my used DC's, and specified dependency at both Build time and Run time.
-> My portal page template is of type Web Dynpro Proxy Page.
-> My iView template is of type Web Dynpro Proxy iView.
-> The Page Content view of my page shows the 'visible' checkbox set for my iView.
The following statements in the wdDoInit() method of my DC's view controller should return the portal name of my iView:
IWDPageService pageService = (IWDPageService) WDPortalUtils.getService(WDPortalServiceType.PAGE_SERVICE);
String[] iViews = pageService.getVisibleIViews();
I get no compile time errors or runtime errors when I execute these statements.
BUT...
Instead of a String array, I get back a memory space pointer.
Example: [Ljava.lang.String;@664e664e

The last thing I can think of is the method is been called before the portal page has been rendered completely, which may lead to the faulty results.
Is it possible to move the getVisibleIviews() to a method which is called later in the phase (for instance, at the bottom of wdDoModify or wdDoPostProcessing) or, even better, in an onAction event handler when a button is clicked?
If this doesn't work I'm afraid I'm running out of options and i would file an OSS message with SAP

Returning table structure from Web Service...

I have a web service which retrieves data from a database table. I want to use this web service from my Visual Composer to display the data on the screen.
I want to know how to return the table structure from my web service. Currently i am returning a string array (only one row of data) from my web service and displaying it in the VC. But i want to include the names of the columns as well.
I tried using 2D String[] and HashMap, both didn't work for me.
Any ideas?

I recommend to pass the headers in seperat variables and the data table in a array.
I did something similar, without the header, because they are fixed in my scenario.

Portal reports(some) under monitor tab timed out

Hi,
Some of my reports unsder montior tab just getting timed out or no rows returned. Portal version 3..9.8.3
I have more than 600000 rows in wwlog_activity_log1$, and log2$ tables. They are switching every 15 days.
All of the objects related to this reports are valid.
I have total 28 indexes on both tables.
Can some body shoot some idea why some of these reports not working ...??

You are right.. If I truncate both log tables It will work fine.. but after next day I will have same problem.
With in a day I am getting approximately 18000 trasactions
I am unable view reports even for two days.
But I cannot rotate logs every day..
Is this a BUG or any work around for this..?

Webcenter portal - architecture question

in our webcenter portal application, we are following this 3 tier architecture.
1. presentation - webcenter portal
2. middleware - soa services
3. source systems
data from source systems is retrieved by multiple mechanism depending on data.
some times it's as simple as select query directly on database
some times it's api provided by source systems
some times it's procedure, batch/script program call
now for portal, what we said is that all communication with source systems will be via soa services.
however i was thinking when it's select query on db type situation, should i escape soa services and use database control (entity, view etc) in my application itself and get required data? i feel it'll improve performance, however not consistent design.
if we go with consistent design (all communication via soa), soa service will execute that query, build data objects, and return to portal...
what's your opinion?

This a typical discussion you get with enterprise architects.
In a pure SOA environment they will say you always have to go through the service bus and WebCenter is just a consumer of those service without any exception.
A service need to be a separate, independent deployment module. That's their concept to base the discussion on but when you plug this in WebCenter by using business component, you violate that concept so you need to go through the bus.
That said... I don't really like the idea for WebCenter to go through the service bus if you are controlling the DB itself. If a 3th party is controlling the data or you don't own the data than it might be better to go through the service bus so other applications can profit from the work.
If the data is only used in Webcenter just use business components directly. If later on, another app wants to use the data as well it should be fairly straight forward to refactor BC to SDO and use those in webcenter.
I believe there is a specific ADF BC adapter for SOA that uses RMI instead of regular XML for DB operations which should make everything a lot faster so when it comes to performance I don't think you will have to consider one or another.
You just have to consider whether or not you want for a true service oriented architecture and not just use the ESB as an integration layer.
That said, it's my personal opinion and will probably not reflect Oracle's opinion per se :p

Forbidden portal front page after viewing webmail (Collaboration Suite rel 1)

Collaboration Suite rel 1 (Same problem existed on 9iAS rel2)
After logging into the portal, I am able to go to the webmail page, and it logs me in, setting a cookie OHS-SERVERNAME-PORT#. When I click on the return to portal link, a 403: Forbidden is returned. If I go in and manually delete the cookie (which is a mod_osso cookie), I am able to the view the page fine. Anyone have any luck with this, having both portal and webmail on the same system? Thanks.

I am facing the exact problem, just that my application is running on Windows platform.
The cause of this problem as I understand is, because the Portal server with which we wish to register the producer is not WSRP enabled.
The producer and the Portal Server communicate using the WSDL protocol, hence the URL
http://mac.ultralab.net:8888/hotseatPortlet/portlets?WSDL, is the one that we woule have to provide with WSRP standard enabled Portal Server.

Portal User ID in Discoverer

I need to create a condition in Discoverer that uses the Portal User ID value to limit data (homegrown VPD).
Can anyone provide code that Discoverer can run to identify the SSO Portal user id? The Disco USER function returns the eul login userid (and i need the sso/portal userid) I searched the forum and found a couple of thoughts. I tried to create a function that returns:
v_user := portal.wwctx_api.get_user;
or
v_user := portal.wwsec_api.id(upper(p_user_name));
but the function (in the eul schema) return the error: Error(246,13): PLS-00201: identifier 'PORTAL.WWSEC_API' must be declared.
I suppose 'real' VPD will get configured eventually (bigger fish), this is a short-term solution.

I'am facing a quite similar challenge here but I am looking for another solution:
We'd like to pass a parameter from Discoverer via the Application Server down to the database WITHOUT using SSO as it is not useful for us.
We start the Discoverer from our own portal via URL-Parameters and it would be nice if we could just add a certain, user correlated, parameter to set up our vpd.
Are there any possibilities to do that or does it only works with SSO?

Combine pt://return with named anchor tag

I have a situation where I need to use the pt://return transformer tag in order to return to portal. However, I would also like to scroll/focus the page to a named anchor tag.
In other words I have this html on the page that the user is returning to:

What are you returning to? A My page, or community page, or other? I'm including some tricks I have used in the past to get the browser to go to a URL on the portal server... they might be worth a try.
If it is a community page you may be able to use a transformer tag and javascript to send the user to the location.

Installation of Enhancement Package 1 in SAP NetWeaver 7.0

We have install the Enhancement Package 4 in the server ECC 6.0 with EHP3.
But, before we need install the Enhancement Package 1 in SAP NetWeaver 7.0
The actual Kernel is releae 700 level 185.
We download the kernel 701 for Windows 64 unicode with SQL, and we install in the system, when we start sap the part java don't started the process sapcpe.exe "could not be started" .
We have tried with the kernel 15 and 23 of release 701, but this don't ok.
We can connect to the part ABA and JAVA, but the Kernel isn't update, and in the console of sap the process sapcpe.exe is in red with the message could not be started"

Because when we import the packages of ECC 6.0 EPH4, the system return the error:
"OCS package SAPK-701DHINSAPBASIS requires at least Kernel Release 701 with patch number
0000"
And the package SAPK-701DHINSAPBASIS is a prerequisite for import the package with the release 604 (ehp4).
