Return to previous menu button?

hey hey...
does anyone know if there is a function that when ur in safari or doing something else and you get a txt message... if u hit reply and all that... can you return to the previous screen without going to the home screen?
thanks for ur help!
=)

No, you cannot. Reading an SMS takes you to the SMS app, and to get back to what you were doing before, you need to go through the home screen.

  • Return to previous menu before finsihing a scene?

I have set up menu 1 which gives a choice of viewing the entire progran (story 1) or go to menu2 with buttons for individual scene choices/chapters.
Each chapter marker will return to it's start button on menu 2 if played to the end. (end jump set to appropriate button)
How can I set the same action for a situation where the viewer doesn't watch the scene through to it's conclusion?

You mean if the user is in a story for a single scene, and they press the menu button on the remote? You can set the menu call for each story to go to a specific button from within the property inspector. This should easily achieve what you want to do, if I have understood you correctly.
You could also script this if you were not in a story, or had this set up in some other way. You would set the menu button and end jump to point to a script like this:
    mov GPRM0, SPRM8
    div GPRM0, 1024
    Jump Menuname [GPRM0]
This is a GPRM based button jump, and the GPRM has been set up to hold the value of the last button selected on the menu (which is what SPRM8 does). The div function ensures that the button number (which is in multiples of 1024) is converted to a simple sequential number. You only need to make sure that the menu name is correctly entered in the script.

  • Return to previous menu from video while it is playing

DVD SP 3 I want the person playing my project to be able to terminate his viewing of a video and return to the menu from where he has just come, wherever that is depending on where the viewer is.
Pressing the Return button in the Simulator and also while the (physical) DVD is playing have no effect. The button on the Simulator's remote control is greyed, and while the DVD is playing on a TV a flattened hand symbol appears on the screen. I have tried setting Disc Inspector > General Tab > Remote Control > Return: to "xyz Menu", but no effect, and in any case would not do what I want (please see italics above and below). (I know that nearby in the Disc Inspector I can set the Remote's Menu and Title buttons to go to suitable menus, which helps but ony a very little because the setting is fixed.)
Many DVDs have several long videos and surely there must be a way of terminating, perhaps after a mistake was made in choosing it, or boredom etc. and allowing the viewer to retun to his last menu which will sometimes be two or more depths below "xyz Menu" and different from it and indeed different every time, depending on where he is.
    Any ideas please?

Steve - Drew has already got this covered, I'm sure... the answer is to use a simple set of scripts. The problem facing any author using multiple menus to access the same basic track asset is how to know which menu to go back to.
On some players, using the menu key will go to the last viewed menu, but not all will work this way - some manufacturers seem to invoke their own practices rather than the spec. guides.
What you do is really quite easy... every time that you send the viewer to a menu (be it the start up menu or whatever) you first of all send them to a script. In the script you set a value into a GPRM and that way you can keep track of where the user came from.
For example, your disc starts with a menu... but you set the first play to go to the following script:
    mov GPRM0, 1
    Jump Menu1
From the main menu you want to go to a features menu - set the button on menu1 to go to the following script:
    mov GPRM0, 2
    Jump Menu2
As you can see, GPRM0 (the memory space) has a new value in it. If you want to go back to the main menu from the features menu then set the button on menu2 to go to the first script. This will reset the GPRM value back to '1'.
Now, all you need to do is create a final script which you set to be the menu call and end jump for your track. You do this from the property inspector for the track - use the drop downs for 'Menu' to navigate to your scripts and choose the following script:
    Jump Menu1 If (GPRM0 = 1)
    Jump Menu2 If (GPRM0 = 2)
Now you have a system in place which will take the user to whatever menu they were last on regardless of anything else. You can expand this system indefinitely to accommodate many more menus, and also build it to send you back to the exact button you were last on as well. It's a flexible system!
Keep in mind that the menu button on your handset is intended to act as a resume function as well - don't fall into the trap of believing you can move from menu to menu by pressing using that handset button more than once - a second press will take you right back to the track you were last watching.

  • How to make a return to main menu button

I've only recently upgraded from iDVD (not sure how I worked with it for so long)
    I'm using DVD SP 3
I have made a dvd with a title screen from where you can play the entire film or go to a second menu which contains four chapters.
This seems very basic but i've searched the forum a lot and can't find the answer (maybe because it's so basic)...
How do I make a button on the second/chapter menu screen that will return to the main menu? The kind that idvd places there automtically.
Do I have to make a script (I haven't done this before) or is there some 'automatic' function or ?
    Ashley

    1) Create a button on the chapter menu with the text MAIN MENU (or whatever you want it to say).
    2) Select the chapter menu in either the graphical or outline view of your DVD.
    3) Click on the Connections tab.
    4) Select the MAIN MENU button in the source column.
    5) Select the main menu in the Targets column.
    6) Click the Connect button above the Targets column.
After doing the above steps you should see the main menu in the Target column to the right of "MAIN MENU:Jump when activated" in the source column. Your MAIN MENU button will now take you back to the main menu.

  • Passcode must be reset each time return to main menu button is pressed

I am an IT help desk professional and have come across an issue with the Iphone 4. One of our employees recently purchased one and I installed Exchange on it so she could receive business emails. She had no passcode installed on the phone, but due to the sensitive content of our email, when the Exchange profile is installed it automatically forces it. Now, each time she presses the button at the bottom of the phone to get back to the main menu, it requires her to reset her password. We took the forced passcode out of her profile for now but need to find a solution so she can be passcode protected. Has anyone else see this occur??

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'm not sure if you are referring to how long it's taking or why it varies.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
If your internet speed varies, the time will be recaculated from time to time.

  • How to keep the select arrow on the same button when returning to the menue after finished feature?

    Hello,
just after my primary question is answered and I corrected my buttons there's another one which I cannot answer myself:
I'm putting together a DVD with menues which contain a lot of options/buttons. People who watched the DVD wanted that the select/highlight arrow stays/returns to the button they selected prior. That's because there are so many buttons/options that some people might not remember which feature they just watched. So this means if people select the "Vacation 2008" button/feature the select/highlight arrow should be on the same button after the feature is finished and it returns to the menue.
Since I haven't seen any functions/options for this: Is it possible to do or isn't it or does it happen just naturally?
Hope this isn't too confusing :-)
    Help is appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Chris...

Where would I select "Last Menu" for this to happen? In the properties for the button or for the timeline? And where exactly: "overwrite" or "remote menu" selection?
Not in any override. Don't set any overrides unless you understand exactly how they work, or they will royally mess up your disc navigation.
Normally, you select "Return to Last Menu" for an end action of the object (timeline, slideshow, playlist, etc.) that is playing. You can also set the Menu Remote property for the timeline/slideshow to "Return to Last Menu".

  • Menu button/transitions keeps returning to the main menu instead of staying on the scene selection

maybe someone can help?? please...... Ive had this issue before.. it keeps coming up. I'm using Encore. Everything is good to go. Only issue I have is when clicking "scene selection" it transitions to the "scene selection" page BUT then goes right back to the main menu! None of the other pages do that...... and I tried to see the difference from one page to the next but it all looks correct/the same. I even checked the flowchart too.. BUT stillĀ  keeps bringing me back to the "main menu"! Any help is appreciated.

"You have a main menu button on the main menu that would do what you describe." - I wonder if that is why I keep gettig an orphan alert to when checkig the project!?!?!?
What happens is this: When on the main menu page I click the button to go to scene selections. The transition takes me to the sceen selection page and then jumps right back to the main menu page.
It needs to stay on the scene selection page.. so I can select a scene.
I will clean the cache ad get back to you asap. thanks.

  • How do I make a "Title Menu Button" that is an Arrow?

I am using DVD 08 with iMovie 06.
I set my chapters using iMovie 06. When I shared with iDVD 08 everything looked OK.
I normally do six scenes however this time I wanted eight. In the past when using iDVD 08 (or iDVD 06) there is always a blue arrow in the scene selection menu that when selected would take you back to the main menu.
For some reason I do not have the Blue arrow. I was able to create a new "Title Menu Button" but none of the options I can find is the default blue arrow.
If iDVD defaults to the blue arrow in this location why can't I find it as one of the many choices iDVD gives for a Title Menu Button?

    Hello, Ziatron,
I use the same, iM6 with iDVD 8.
I am not sure I follow you. You mean that you make 6 or 8 chapter markers for this movie?
What theme are you using? If you use a theme that places 6 scenes on a submenu, iDVD will automatically create a second submenu with the remaining 2 scenes. Each submenu has 2 arrows to allow you to go back to the previous menu, or to the next submenu, except the last submenu which has only 1 arrow to go back to the previous menu.
If you want all 8 scenes on the first submenu, you can go to the submenu with the last 2 scenes and select them, then 'Copy' then go back to the first submenu and 'Paste' them. You may have to reposition the scene titles to accomodate the new ones. Be sure to go back once again to the submenu and delete the copied scenes. When you do that, go back to the previous submenu where all 8 scenes are, and you will see that the forward arrow to the last submenu is no longer present, since there are no longer any scenes to be in a separate submenu.
I have made over 100 movies, each with many scenes, but I don't have any submenus that show an arrow to return to the main menu, unless there is only one submenu.
If you want to add an entire submenu....say of extra photos/videos/etc. you can use the + button on the lower left of the iDVD screen to add. A folder will appear on the menu to which you have added the submenu, and when you open the folder, you will see the new submenu, with its return arrow.
You can change the folder icon to just a title using the 'Buttons' tab, but you cannot create navigation arrows yourself.
Please post back if I am missing your question.

  • Using the Menu Button in Remote Control

My question is this: Let's say I have 5 menus. When I go to the 4th menu and simulate it in DVDSP, I then hit the "menu" button on the remote but it always takes me back to menu 1. I know how to change this but I'm only able to select one option which I've set to Menu 1 but is there a way for my client to select a chapter in menu 2 and when he hits the Menu Return or Menu button that it goes back to the menu 2 which he was previously on.

    Hi Charles,
Are you still facing this issue. Is this issue reproducible with every file you want to convert.

  • Checked menu button upon completion of topic

We would like to use the menu button/checked state to
indicate that a topic has been completed and have the checkmark
appear (when the course is bookmarked) if a student returns to the
course later. I have tried to do this but ran into problems. The
checked state appears when the user access the first frame of the
topic and disappears when the next topic is selected. We do not
want it the checkmark to appear until the user has completed the
last frame in the topic being reviewed. I know that there should be
a logical way to use a calc icon/variable to tell the button when
to display the checked button state. I tried putting in an active
if: variable (in the button properties) but the entire button
greyed out . There must be a way to indicate that the checked
button state only becomes active when frame xx has been opened.
The LMS is reading our bookmarked locations -- but the
symbols are not showing when the user returns to the course.
Previously we have done this using separate graphic icons
& variables with our topic menu in a map icon to the right of
the nav framework. In this course, the menu topics/buttons are
inside the framework icon along with the nav buttons, so they
remain on the screen at all times.
Any suggestions? We have tried several different flowlines
    without success.
    The variables we are using:
I have a bullseye icon (indicates partial completion of
topics /checkmark (completed topic) icons that appear using the
following variables: bullseye appears with the following variable
    if CS0004 BE:=1 then
    CS0004 BE:=2
    end if.
the checkmark should appear when CS0004BE:-=3.
The bullseye/checkmark icons are contained in a decision icon
on the flowline above the framework icon that holds the topic
    frames.
The first topic frames begins with the calc icon/varibale
that sets the bullsekye. exanole: if CS0004 BE:=1 then
    CS0004 BE:=2
    end if.
The last topic frame holds the calc icon/variable
CS0004BE:-=3.. But the checkmark does not appear. I
I have moved a checkmark graphic below the calc icon as a
work around in the last topic frame. It tracks the course
completion fine for the user while they are in the course but if
they exit/bookmark & return, the checkmarks are not retained.
The LMS (Pathlore) does however show the completed topics.
I have looked through this forum but not found anything
similar to this problem. I am new to this level of authorware
    programming but learning fast.
    Thanks,
    Diane

What I do is set a variable on the last page of the lesson.
    This variable is
also tracked in a database for when the student returns to
    the course. On my
main menu I use a Decision icon that checks that variable,
    and if it
indicates that the lesson was completed, the Decision path
    places a graphic
of a checkmark next to the menu item (don't forget to set the
    path's
property to Do Not Erase). I don't use the checked property
    at all.

  • DVD doesn't return to main menu when reaches end - Why? How?

My DVD plays through full movie and then essentially just stops at the end vs returning to the main menu. The menu button doesn't even return it at that point. What can I do to make it return to the main menu when it reaches the end?

    I'm having a similar issue...
In all the previous projects I've created with iDVD, the movie always automatically returned to the DVD main menu at the very end of the presentation.
On my current project using iDVD 6.0.2 (787), this is not occuring. At the end of the DVD presentation, the screen continues to stay black until the "stop" button is depressed.
I'm obviously frustrated because I have looked everywhere in "iDVD Help" and within the on-line support discussions for an answer, but to no avail.
I don't think that it's a DVD media issue because the problem occurs on iDVD when previewing (and obviously on the DVD media after burning).
Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a special command, tool, or secret handshake I need to provide in iMovie HD, or iDVD? Any insight is most appreciated.

  • Can I mark menu buttons as visited?

Is there a way to mark that a menu button has been clicked? Using scripts on drop zones or highlight sets or similar? I can set a register to log which of 9 buttons has been clicked, I just can't think of a way to make it obvious on the menu.
If anyone can think of a way I'd be grateful.
    Alison

Hi - welcome to the discussions!
There's no direct way to do this, but you could fake it using a series of menus. However, you'll need a heck of a lot of them for all the possible combinations of nine buttons. You might want to consider breaking this down into three buttons per menu, then creating all the possible permutations for those three buttons, making the graphics as a background image showing the previously selected buttons.
You'll need 6 menus per set of buttons to show all the permutations, I think. You will then need to track which menu has been visited using a simple script, and which button has been selected on each menu. You can then show the appropriate menu background whenever the user returns to your menus.
In other words, buttons 1-3 on the menu operate within 6 different menus showing different combinations of 'visited' background images. You send the user to the correct one of the menus in that set after tracking which buttons they have previously selected.
If you need nine buttons then your menu backgrounds increases to about 300,000 possible permutations of user choices on the buttons. I'd steer clear of that!
Unfortunately, we can't copy the way web browsers work when making DVDs.

  • Remotes "Menu Button" Override

I've created a wedding dvd. The menus use the loop point feature where the first 3 seconds is the transition from the previous menu. If the "Menu Button" is set to "Return to Last Menu", the transition is revealed when returning from the timeline. Not acceptable. So I then created static versions of the menus. A wedding chapter menu, and 2 reception chapter menus. Unfortunately, Last menu won't work since I didn't actually come from the static versions. I would need to actually tell the remotes "Menu Button" to go to 1 of those menus. If I set it to the "Wedding Chapters" menu but entered the timeline from a reception menu, the effect is wrong. I could make the transitions as seperate timelines, but I don't like the pauses associated with them. If a menu button override was available at the menu button level, it would work. If I press a wedding chapter button, it would set the remotes "Menu Button" to return to the wedding static menu. Same for the receptions menu buttons. The loop point feature seems to give me a smoother looking playback versus the timeline transition, which has 2 pauses, 1 into the timeline (transition), and 1 into the next menu. I really like Encore, which is the first solution I've worked with that did overrides. Very handy!! Please add the override feature to the remotes menu button.

Let the battery run down, that is what i did when this happened to mine. When it has run down fully recharge it and it should work!
    Hope That Helps!

  • Won't open homepage on open, won't open web pages from the menu 'open new window', Can't open menu button

Ok, since update to version 31.0, I have been having some problems.
I have tried doing everything stated in the support page about resetting, reinstalling, safe mode, restarting pc etc.
First problem, when I open Firefox no web page loads. It just says New Tab and a blank white page. If I press the home button I am taken to my homepage which is google.
Second problem, when I right click on a link and the menu pops up, if I click open in new window, a new window opens but it just says New Tab with a blank page and no URL information, just blank.
Third problem, the Open Menu button just doesn't work at all. You can click all you like, that thing is not opening.
I am really stuck as to what to do. I have only been using Firefox for about a month and t was good until these problems. If I can't resolve it, I will have to use another browser as it is really annoying.
I am using Windows 8.1 by the way and have scanned my computer thouroughly for both virus's and malware.

Hi zenithtwc, to test whether this is a settings issue, could you do a three-minute experiment?
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
''Don't delete anything here.'' Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like Test731, and skip the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    Can it reach the internet?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.
