Returned mine today

I returned mine today and Office Depot did not want to refund my money even though I had until 1-7-12 to return it according to my receipt. They finally did refund my money but was not happy about it. But I give them credit for finally doing the right thing. I wish everyone here best of luck and I did learn a lot since the only tablet I had before now was a 1999 Fujitsu 10" Stylistic Tablet running Win 98 (Still works great, but kind of heavy! !) and a 2010 7" Pandigital <$80 tablet that also works great (but resistive touch screen). My main reasons for returning the product are listed below in case there are other folks on the "fence" right now as far as return dates are concerned. I think this will be a fine Android Table after the kinks are worked out but I suspect it was released too soon.
Reasons for returning:
1. I live on SS and had to save the $300 over a period of months. Can't take a chance on a product that had so many fails in only one week of ownership.
2. Constant loss of WiFi even when device was only a few feet (less than three) from the router. All other WiFi devices in my house work fine even at the furthest distance from the router in my house. I did try a different router (to improve streaming) but there was no change. At its best it would only go one room away before losing signal (small house, one wall, no metal between router and device).
3. Device would cause constant buffering after the HDMI cable was plugged into my TV.
4. Device caused constant buffering even when not using HDMI cable.
5. Lock ups. Freezes.
6. GPS didn't work (not that I would really use it....but still....I paid for it.)
7. Fear it would die after my return period had passed.
Again I think this will be a great product when the kinks are worked out. And I suspect there are plenty K1s out there working just fine right now. I think $300 is a LOW price for the K1 if everything worked. I will really miss it since I really liked it (even if this post makes it sound otherwise). I will consider buying another one after checking in at this forum now and then to see if things are better.

I can relate to the on SS and counting pennies idea. I just got my K-1 two days ago after returning a Nook Tablet to Barnes and Noble. I got tired of "workarounds" to use the device as I saw fit. Last straw was when they did a "security update" that blocked all sideloading of apps. No complaints though, as I was on Lenovo site looking at the A-1 when I came across a deal for the K-1 at Staples. Took a few phone calls but got the last one anywhere within 100 miles. I don't think I'll be returning mine.

I haven't had it long enough to have everything figured out but Android Market recognized my account from my smartphone and setup some key paid applications without having to buy them again. Nice.
Weirdest thing so far is not being able to connect to my Lenovo X-60 laptop via the proprietary USB cable (running Linux Mint). It works when booted into Windows and I can send data to the K-1 from there, but so far I haven't figured out the workaround to connect in Linux.

Not unless you recover it.
What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if it is connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi or cellular. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

• Updated my ipad yesterday and today can't connect to the internet by wifi or cellular. Have tried on 2 different wifi routers, one by Verizon and another by Comcast. updated 2 iphone 5S and ipad mini today and all 3 work fine. Any suggestions?

Updated ipad yesterday to 7.0.6 and now can't connect to internet. Tried cellular, Verizon and Comcast. Updated 2 iphone 5S and ipad mini today and all work fine. Any suggestions?

Has the unit EVER been jailbroke?
If "No," first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

• I got mine today....

Yes I got mine today, but not from Best Buy... After going to a few BB locations, it appeared to me that no one knew when they can expect inventory. What was also evident was how confused the reps were of the issue. I know that they are left out of the loop and really dont know, but in my opinion no matter what the issue is "I dont know" is never an acceptible answer, especially in a customer service type field.
I went to a local Apple store and they had plenty in stock (no white though).
It is in my opinion that either BB underestimated the demand, or really dropped the ball on this launch.

Well, I agree with much of your post. Our company was kept mostly out of the loop from Apple. I am happy you finally got an iPhone 4, even if it wasn't from us.
Rest assured, this feedback has been heard loud and clear (mostly because of this community) and the appropriate leaders are already aware.
Thanks for posting!

• I received an iPad Mini today for my birthday

Alright so, as the subject says, I got a new iPad Mini today for my birthday. At first it was working perfectly. I was able to connect to the network, download a few apps and then all of a sudden, it lost connection. I tried multiple times to get it to connect again. Nothing. So I went online and tried different things; resetting network settings, resetting general settings but nothing worked. So I went on the Apple website and chatted with someone. They had me update the software (it starts off with 6.1.2 I think, so I updated to 6.1.3). After that, it worked perfectly again...for a while. Once again, I lost connection. Tried resetting the router, resetting everything again. But nothing worked. So I got on the Apple site again, and was told that it was a hardware issue and to exchange it. So I did, and the new one doesn't connect either. Now I'm ****** and about to say screw you Apple, but when the iPad was working I loved it too much to do so. Any suggestions or comments or solutions? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

• Lost my ipad mini today

Hi, i lost my ipad mini at school today i was in the classroom and left it down of my school desk, there are cameras and i am pretty sure that i left it there. I have my ipad registered and i can track it but i want to know if it is possible to look the last location and time of my ipad before turned off.
sorry my english hope someone understands

If the device is turned off it will not show up on the map at all unfortunatley. However as OrangeMarlin stated you can set it to lock the device next time it connects to iCloud. Good luck!!!!!!!

• Got mine today...any tips?

Well, I got my MBP today, on a fluke. I went by my University bookstore and low and behold, they had MPB's in stock. I about fainted right there. Since I am a law student, I get the student discount, so I went for the 2.16/100/2MB RAM.
I have not opened it yet becuase I have a paper due tomorrow. (Yes, it's agony waiting...) Are there any tips, suggestions, etc. that I should know before booting up and transferring files? I'm a recent Mac convert, so I don't know all the ropes yet....
Bob, it looks like we have the same configuerations, so I hope mine works as well as yours.
Thanks in advance...

There's no accounting for taste.
(Sorry, I couldn't resist: I'm a K-State grad. KU is a great school for law and medicine.)

• Should I return mine too?

I just noticed that I too also have the psu making the weird noises and it also comes out at the macbook. I've got the moo as well but the thing is that they are not that loud. I'm worried that if I return it that I'm gonna get one thats worse and am gonna be wishing that I kept the old one. What do you guys think I should do? Are there really macbooks out there that have no problems at all or do they all have the problem and the user doesnt notice it?

well thats the thing. If its quiet enough I can hear the whine. As far as the moo goes. I'm just worried that if I take my macbook to the library or to class and it starts mooing its gonna be pretty freakin embarassing. Do you think they all do this and the people that say they dont just dont hear it? or are there really macbooks out there that really dont whine and moo? and is the whine and the moo definitely that can be addressed with an update? the moo I would really like to get rid of since I like to record and you can actually hear the moo in the recordings. Itsa condenser so it picks up EVERYTHING. and the whine 'm just worried that its gonna mess something up. It used to be dead quiet aside from the mooing but now today I got home and noticed that the noise from the psu crept up into my actual macbook itself now.

• Got mine today-headphone socket broken and can't download itunes 9!

As the title says, got my 5th gen nano today, the headphones plug has to be wiggled to get any sound and I can't seem to download itunes 9 - if i get the nano replaced in the morning will it work with itunes 8?
Thanks,

I'm not sure about everyone else, but when I plugged my 5th gen into the computer for the first time, I got a message saying 'This device will not work with your version of iTunes, please upgrade to the latest version' -Or something to that effect. I had iTunes 8 and I would have preferred to stay with it, but I was forced to get 9 Oh well...
So to answer your question, a new 5th gen Nano most likely will -not- work with iTunes 8.

• Ok so I got my mac mini today and I am trying to set it up but my wireless keyboard does not sync up. I have tried entering the code that the mini displays but still cannot get past the sync keyboard screen. Since I dont have a wired keyboard ...any ideas

Happy Thanksgiving. Any ideas on how to sync up a brand new man mini with a wireless keyboard. My attempts at following the directions have been frustated so far. Entering the numerical code has not yet led to a successful sync up.

• New Mac Mini today, no picture with HDMI

Good evening,
I just picked up a brand new Mac Mini late 2012 model to use as a HTPC through my AV system in the livingroom.
I connected a HDMI lead to my Mac, changed to the correct source & switched it on. I can hear the start up chime through my speakers but my TV remains blank, just black. I tired in another HDMI port but the result was the same.
I don't have a PC, so have no monitor & I was going to get a loan of a mouse & keyboard to set up before I get an app so I can use my iPhone as a mouse/keyboard.
Does the very first set up have to be done through a monitor? How can I get the picture on my TV? (Pioneer PDP 5080 LXD)
Currently sitting with a £500 brick :(

The following may be painfully redundant to you, yet I hope it helps you solve this HDMI issue.
WIth the Mac mini and TV powered off, disconnect the Mac mini HDMI cable.
Power on the TV and do the following settings:
Select the desired HDMI port.
Home menu > Option > HDMI Input > Video > Auto.
> HDMI Input > Audio > Auto.
Power off the TV. Reconnect the Mac Mini HDMI cable and ensure a good connection. Power on the Mac mini and let it boot up, before turning on the TV. Now, switch the TV to the appropriate HDMI port. You may have to twiddle with your mini display settings in system preferences, and possibly cycle power to the TV.
I believe HDMI ports input4 and input5 accept HDMI video and audio in from a computer, while ports input6 and input7 are strictly HDMI video in. This Pioneer model supports HDMI v1.3. You might reconfirm that your HDMI cable supports this version of HDMI or higher.

• Gave PE8 enough chances, returning it today (if i can!) Be warned!!

I am tired of this program...
Ok, the only shining star in having Premiere elements 8 is the community forum that discusses the issues with it. They have been helpful in what I feel is ultimately a losing cause.
Starting with creating something as simple as a slide show (which I was told PE8 is not good for, so why buy it???). It cant handle large amounts of photos, it locks up frequently with the:
"running low on memory, save now!" message that we all know.
And I have a dual core, overclocked with 4gb ram and a ati radeon 4800 vid card (oc'd too) that are all running stable even with the program running.
I gave up on the slideshow that I spent many hours putting together, cant render a file to dvd, the program just shuts down on its own
Next up, DV capture. I have plenty of available space, it starts capture and randomly shuts down, one time 25 mins in, another time 2 mins in to a video capture. It doesnt have an error message, it just shuts down.
So I figure maybe its my camcorder (sony dcr trv240), tested with 2 other programs, windows media maker and cyberlink powerdirector/producer. Both pulled the file in without a problem, not to mention they load up in seconds vs PE8 which has a 60 second splash screen to start while it loads
So if anyone has any magic cure, I will try again. Based on what I read on the boards so far and the fact that the post most people are going to is the one about program lockups, I think that is a telling sign that this program is garbage
Maybe if I spend $5,000 on a system it will run, but if I have that kind of money then I would buy a professional suite of editing software.
Be warned if considering this program! Do not purchase unless you enjoy frustration around every corner!

I m not sure I understand what you are asking.
