Returned to store for service and ended up with New computer

I returned my MacBook Pro 2.0 to my Apple Store for a New top case due to mouse problems. The part took over 3 weeks to come. They said it would take about 30 minutes to fix. After about 2 hours had gone by I started getting nervous. they finally came out and asked me if I was having any other problems with it and I said other than it ran warm none. They tried to boot it and it would start and then stop. They also said the fans were starting but then turning off. They captured the comptuer and gave me a new one. Serial on this one was a week 15 my old one was 8606. My first one had no whine and neither does this one although this one seems to run cooler by far. I also played with a 17" while I was there and that was running cooler than my first MacBook. Anyways they did right by me and I am very pleased.

I do have my thesis backed up on a disk, and have been trying to work on it when I get a chance. My issue right now is that I work 55 hours a week, and all of these are when the computer labs at my school are open. The only current option I have been able to come up with is to use my girlfriends computer when she is not using it, but she is a Law school student and working on her own papers at the moment.
It kind of sounds like I am up a creek right now. I purchased my MBP becasue of a bad experience I had with Dell after getting a computer stolen last year, having actual people and a store to go to was a big draw for Apple for me. I so far have been happy with the service I have gotten with my MBP and the Applecare plan, I guess it is just my past history with computers that worries me.

A little background first; I purchased my MBP in June of 06, it has the 2.16 ghz core duo processor and 1 gig of memory. I have not had any problems or worries about it, other then it seeming to run hot, since then. A week and a half ago the MBP started to act funny. The left half of the screen looked like a tv with bad reception. The computer was fully functional, only the screen looked weird, and sometimes when I would changed the screen angle the screen problem would go away.
I took the computer into the local mac store last sunday and when they looked at it they said it was probably just the LVDS cable, and that it should be a 2-3 day fix. Having not heard from them I called yesterday and asked what was going on, they said that they had replaced the LVDS but the logic board was also bad and needed to be replaced, and that it should be done today. I then recieved a message last night that 'something else' was wrong with the computer and they had to order another part and that it would hopefully be there 'soon' and that my MBP would 'hopefully' be fixed 'soon'.
Right now this worries me for two reasons; One is that I want to know what could be going wrong with the MBP, I don't have any info and it worries me. The second is that I am finishing my MA thesis right now and not having a computer to work on is making this nearly impossible. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone know if the mac stores have loaners one can get while a comp is in the shop? [yes I know how stupid that sounds] Any advice is welcome, thanks.

  • An older style Ipod has over 10,000 songs on it.  The original computer that contained these songs on itunes has since been replaced.  Can itunes/match get the songs from this ipod to store in match and then put on new computer/itunes?

Can this new service of itunes/match allow you to retrieve songs from an older style ipod, store them in match, and then download them onto a new computer/itunes?  The original computer that contained these songs has since been replaced b/c it broke down.  There were alot of songs on there and now I can't get the songs onto my new computer.  Can match work from ipod > match > computer?

Only if it is an iPod touch that you can turn on iTunes Match.

Did you make a backup of all the  important files on this computer before it broke down?
    Try this -> http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/
Then backup your computer after you recover the items.

  • Invoice not updated for Service and limit items

    Hi All,
For service and limit we are not able to see the invoice document in the "Related Documents" tab in the Purchase order.
For material I am able to find the entry in the tab but the invoice statistics data is not getting updated for service POu2019s and also for limit item POu2019s.
Found a note for the same : 1462644 - Empty statistics in PO in case of Extended Classic Scenario but it works only for material line items only.
Please let me know if any config change need to be made else if there is any SAP note that would resolve this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Issues are usually network related
What is your internet speed? www.speedtest.net
6mbps is required for instant HD (you can switch to SD in the settings)
If on wifi try ethernet and www.istumbler.net to rule out interference
Make sure you're using your ISP's DNS

  • IW31/32- Change Date Restriction choices for "StartPoint" and "End"

    Hello,
In IW31/32> Operation tab> then "Dates" screen.
Is there a way to change Date Restriction choices for "StartPoint" and "End."
Start Point: there are 4 choices: Must Start on, Cannot start before, cannot start after, start from resource planning
End: Must finish on, Cannot finish before, finish not later, finish from confirmation.
We want to limit the choice to 2 optiions on Start and End/ in addtion change the text.
    Is this possible.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
No its not possible  to accomplish this in standard using configuration functionality.
You may able to accomplish restricting the values on the drop down through the implicit enhancement functionality available in ECC 6.0.
You will have to make  a screen modification to make the associated start point/ end point key text editable.

    - You can only sync an iPod to one iTunes library/computer. You can however, manually manage music and videos among different libraries.
Go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
    - If y wnat to switch syncing libraries/computer see:
go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device>Set up Syncing>Sync your device manually and follow the instructions.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced media like music is in the iTunes library of the second computer it is very easy.

My serial number is C38JL043DTWD but lose from last 3 week and 28 October expire for service and support coverage how can I claim?

Sorry, but I don't understand your question. If you are questioning the stated expiration date of your warranty, when did you buy the iPhone and from what dealer? You may wish to post in your native language if you are uncomfortable posting in English.

  • Terminal key bindings for Home and End

I am recording this here in the hope of savings others some time.
It is often stated that the following Terminal key bindings have to be asserted to get Home and End keys working as intended:
    \033OH
    \033OF
I find this misleading as it is neither what most people would type nor what they would see.
    I type:
    escape O H
    escape O F
    This results in:
    \033oh
    \033of
which works as intended but using 'shift' to produce the capitals depicted in most notes about this will not work.

My default bindings did not work for home and end but page up and page down inexplicably worked with shift. The image below shows the keys and their bindings (eg \033[5~ and \033[6~ stated here for Google!) I applied to Terminal to make home, end, page up and page down behave in the same way as many other applications including iTerm. Remember to type 'esc' to get '\033'.
I started out trying to improve the readability of large manual pages (eg man bash). Whilst the changes above improved things considerably I have now found better alternatives.
I tried iTerm - the keys worked correctly but inconsistencies between the various window size settings did not inspire confidence.
I now use ManOpen.app which I have configured to open when I type eg 'm chmod' in Terminal - I changed the name of openman to m and put it together with openman.1 in /usr/bin. The pages scroll normally and have hot links to other manual items. This is a simple way to vastly improve manual reading. The only slight negatives I have found are:
1 - two preference panes will not open - defaults OK for me
2 - window positions not remembered - since size can be set I can live with this
3 - text cannot be set to soft wrap to window width (misnamed zoom by some applications).
I would be interested to hear if others have found better ways of viewing manuals.

I feel that Verizon has conducted and treated a long time customer in a predatory manner just to make a few dollars. I added a hotspot feature on my Iphone and its called a plan change. I wanted 1 gig and ended up with 4 gigs. If 1 gig was not available I was not informed. Plus the charge for the convertion to a new plan. I called today and I cancelled the plan so I 'm being charged another fee for the plan change. I have really enjoyed working with Verizon but I will have to start looking for another provider.

Then the employees, and you, don't understand EDGE.  It's not a service plan, it's a PAYMENT option to pay the full price of the phone in installments, and have no "contract" or obligation  to stay with Verizon once the phone is paid for, which you can do at any time.  So if you were trying to get discounted pricing, and the reps were talking EDGE, you were talking at cross purposes....
In order to get the upgrade pricing, you need to sign a contract for 2 years of service, and agree to an ETF if you leave Verizon before the two years.

I found an answer to this on another page (I was having the same problem) This worked for me:
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.

  • On my windows Itunes I changed computers and ended up with two of every song. How do I delete the duplicates without doing it one at a time?

I have duplicates of all the songs on my windows 7 computer.  I changed computers and ended up with duplicates of all of my songs. How can I delete them all without having to do it one at a time? thanks!

Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
