Returning a Laptop

I bought a laptop from Best Buy about a week ago or so. I'm not really liking it so I want to return it, and I know exactly what I want to get in return. If I do return it do I have to set the laptop I'm bringing in to its factory settings or will they do that for me after I return it? Thanks for any info.
PS Its a Lenovo Yoga 2 11 if that matters at all.

Hello crazyozzie02,
I'm sorry to hear that your new Lonovo Yoga isn't working out like you'd hoped. You ask a great question though!
Our friend Alex (avm5689) offers some great advice and I underscore his recommendation. While you don't have to reset the computer yourself, it is highly recommended that you ensure that any personal data that has found it's way onto the device be removed to ensure your privacy.
I'm grateful that you wrote to us and I hope you're able to find a computer what will suit your needs!

  • Can I return my laptop

I bought my laptop around the beginning of March 2011. I am very dissatisfied with it and was wondering if I could bring it in for a refund. The computer is a Dell Inspiron.

I'm sorry, but you only have 14 days to return a laptop. You could send it in for repair if there is an issue with the device.

Stephylei you will want to download the Mac versions of the installation files.  If you purchased the software from Adobe, and choose the download option at the time of purchase, then the download will be available under your account.  You can find more details at Find a download link on Adobe.com.

  • Would like to return my laptop

    Hi all,
I purchased T500 through online with Bill me later option.
My laptop was supposed to delivered today through UPS, but as I was away I couldn't get the laptop.
They left a note and I may get it tomorrow.
But I still didn't receive order confirmation to my mail. I called the customer support thrice to send me the order confirmation. They said they'll send the order confirmation but I never received it.
I'd like to return the laptop. Is there a way I can return the laptop without any charges as it is still unopened?
    Thanks

    Mixed.
Phone support for my ThinkPads has been excellent.  I think that's still done by IBM in Atlanta.
I just today called about my son's Xmas present - an IdeaPad Y550P.  Totally different experience.  The support "tech" I got on the phone - in the Phillipines - was quite nice, but that's about as far as it goes.  She didn't know her product and didn't know the terminology.  She confused BIOS with recovery media several times.  Figure that one out...
I'm still pleased with TP support but IPs, that's another thing entirely.

  • Should I return this laptop? Ebay purchase. Please help - need more than one opinion! College student here

First, it was an amazing deal of $525 for a 2011, 6gb RAM, 640 GB hard drive.
BUT, i took it to the apple store and they said I should return it because...
    1) the screws on the bottom meant the seller refurbished it because they arent apple screws
    2) the hard drive failed their test which was sad for me to see
    3) the RAM sticks are two different sticks, one apple stick and one something else
    4) the keyboard only lights up in the middle which the apple people think is water damage but they cant really tell without opening it. they wont open it because of the screws.
The reasons I dont think I should return it are....
    1) I can get a squaretrade warranty so if it does break I can return it
    2) $525 for a 2011 mac laptop is sooo good and unheard of, but I may be able to find another similar deal on craigslist so this might not be a valid reason
    3) i've been heavily using it for a week without any issues
    4) i dont want to spend more new hours searching for a laptop
    5) i might not be able to find one on time for when school starts
BACKROUND INFO #1: it has ZERO dents, scratches, or dings - nothing else except whats listed above is wrong with it
BACKGROUND INFO #2: I am a college student who has had 7 PC's crash in the past 5 years. I gave up on PC and invested in this mac. I'm tired of losing my files and forgetting to back it up into my emails every week.
so looking at all that, what do you think I should do? AKA if you were in my shoes you would do what?

Now you know why it was $525.  Also realize you are getting a computer that isn't a warranty computer.  How much did you save?
Read the fine print on the Squaretrade warranty.  Make sure they won't turn it away for the same reason Apple does.
Can you live without the light?  Even if it got wet in the past it boots now.  If I buy a used car and the radio doesn't work but I get it for a really good price then I figure that's part of it if I can live with it and it doesn't interfer with day to day use.
It would be nice to know why the hard drive failed their test. Obviously if the computer boots it isn't total toast.  Clearly somebody has been inside the computer to add RAM and maybe change the drive?  That doesn't freak me in a used computer.
Maybe somebody can comment on non idential RAM but with some computers with RAM from a reputable upgrade source it doesn't matter.  Post the exact specs of the second chip.
My only question is, how up-front was the person from whom you bought the computer?  Did they tell you about the light?  It isn't a critical part but it is something you can assume to be working unless they tell you it isn't.  If they didn't, what else didn't they tell you?
Screws will freak Apple Service because they only look at stuff where they know 100% what's been done to it and nobody not-certified has messed with it.  I have done all kinds of things to my computer that would have voided the original warranty 20x over but it long ago went out of warranty.  It purrs.

  • Return/exchange laptop just purchased

I just purchased an Asus laptop on 8/13 and am thinking about exchanging it for a laptop with a bigger screen, but hopefuilly the same specs (i.e. Core I7, etc.). I have the receipt and manuals that came with it but do not have the original box it came in. Will that be a problem? Please advise. Thanks.

The box isn't an issue. As long as it is in like new condition and you bring it back within the 30 days with the receipt, you are good to go. Remove your personal data before doing so.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • How do I back out of FF-4.0 & return my laptop to FF-3.6? My Verizon MiFi is no longer recognized. OS=Windows Vista.

My wireless local area connection was working fine before I thought I could improve "things" with this latest browser upgrade :-(

You can downgrade to the previous secure version which is 3.6.16 like this.
    * Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.16] and download it to the desktop. If necessary, download the file with IE8 and choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
    * Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
    * Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    * Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.

  • Can I return my new laptop to lenovo because of its quality problem?

IBM is one of the best brand as I know, especially showing us not only high quality of products but the service.
But now one thing happened to me, if I don't have this case I can't believe. I found there is something with the laptop(T61 Model 7658CTO) the same day when I got the new laptop on June 3rd, 2008. Then I call 800, a lot of 800 calls,at last I were told that I should contact send it back first if I were to get another new one. Three days later I got the box sent by Lenovo, and I return it back in terms of what the paper shown.
Unfortunately the problems of the laptop still exist when I turn on my laptop after it repaired. What's wrong with my laptop, this is new one, I think IBM should provide high quality products.
I don't know how to describe the weird sound , it sounds like two or more micphone opened clost to each other. It is very harsh.
I want to get one new laptop from Lenovo because of the quality of product and customer service or can I return the laptop?
I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Like Obama says... yes you can
I did it last week because I bought an iPhone 4 as a wedding gift but then I changed my mind and wanted an iPad, so the bride could use it together with the groom (while the phone is personal).
I returned the iPhone to the apple store and I paid the difference to buy the 32GB iPad, no problems
I didn't opened the case, but the guy at the apple store told me I could have returned the phone even if it was opened. It must be undamaged tough.

It's yours. No returns allowed after the return date unless the store management allows it. Since you have had it for over a month, you could have easily decided it wasn't the right one for you and returned it within the acceptable amount of time.

  • Can I return my macbook air that I brought during the holidays (Thanksgiving)

I was gifted a Macbook air during the thanksgiving season, and since I am a computer science developer ( a student to be precise), I want to return my Mac and opt in for a Windows machine ( so that I can get enough software support if needed, there are several people around me with a pc). I was wondering, how can I return my laptop ? What are the terms and conditions ?
    Thank you in advance.

I would think you cannot return a product after the return date has passed.
Call the Apple Store and ask them.

    Hi swarandrose,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I don't think that this is possible,
Best way to get some information about this is to call Lenovo Post sales team.
Try calling Lenovo Sales team and ask for options.
    Hope this helps

  • Can I return my Macbook Pro and get a refund?

I bought my Macbook Pro 2 weeks ago (July 16th). I bought it with the student discount, and they also gave me a 100 dollar gift card to the Apple Store. I would like to return my macbook and get a refund however, because I see that a new macbook pro came out. It has better specs and costs the same price. What the heck! Anyways, can I return this laptop and then buy the new one?

The return period is 14 days.
You are very close to that now.
If you really want to do that get down to theApple Store fast and you might still be able to do it.
Personally with the difference between the two models, I don't see it as that big of a deal to get the newer model.

  • Return/exchange declined

I tried to return a laptop and I was declined because I was told I returned to many items within a 90 day period.   How pathetic is this? I buy laptops, tablets and desktops online usually open box to save money. Several of my purchases recently were open box that I bought online and when I went to pick them up, I noticed scratches on the screen and top side so I returned the laptops while I was still there.
With that being said, I purchased a new Dell 2 in 1 13.3 core i7 that is a nice computer but a little heavier then what I thought it would be. So I took it back to Best Buy to exchange it for a Macbook 13.3 and my return was declined because I had to many returns even though  I just wanted to exchange it.
How pathetic is this?  I buy laptops, tablets and desktop computers from Micro Center, Staples and Office Depot and I have never been declined on a return or exchange as long as its within the time frame of the return policy.
I can assure you I will never buy any electronics from Best Buy unless this issue is resolved.

    Hello kas720,
Welcome to the forum! Picking out the right laptop can be quite a difficult task. I'm sorry to hear that the Dell 2-in-1 you purchased didn't live up to your expectations as it was heavier than you desired. I can imagine it may have been surprising to be denied the return of a product, especially if you were within the Return & Exchange Promise.
The Retail Equation (TRE) is a separate entity from Best Buy that helps monitor return and exchange history for various retailers. It has been set in place to keep our prices as low as possible for our customers by tracking returns and exchanges on an individual level. For more information, you may check out our forum post about TRE here.
With that said, it is not meant to cause such disappointment with our customers. I am truly sorry for any frustration or inconvenience that this return denial may have caused you. If you should have any other questions, please let me know.
