Returning library book early crashes ADE 3.0 in Win 8.1
Every time I try to return a library book early using ADE 3.0, ADE crashes. The book is returned, but this is surely a bug in the product.
Any fixes?

Hi,
It will be really helpful if you could share the crash logs with us.
You can find crashlogs in "Console" app.
In Console App, you need to click on the "User Diagnostic Reports" in the left sidebar and then there you will find report for ADE (something like "Adobe Digital Editions_<date>_<machine-name>.crash".

i have a Mac OS X 10 w. Yosemite download. am having trouble downloading library books to ADE, v. 3.0, which i would then like to transfer to my Simple touch Nook. I did find a book that i had checked out from the library in the documents file. however, the book wants to open in iBooks. i want the book to go to my Simple Touch Nook and i thought that i could only do that through ADE, v. 3, which i have downloaded (several times). however i can’t get the library books to download or go to ADE anymore. I reauthorized the computer, using an Overdrive authorization, but i still can’t get books to download to ADE. i believe that before all this trouble, i had an ADE authorization. I was wondering if i should de-authorize the computer (but don’t know how to do that) and re-insert an ADE authorization. (but of course i don’t really know how to do that either). i have spent so much time one this matter that i can’t remember what i’ve done. Nook and Apple say that this is an ADE problem, and i have reviewed the discussions in the Forums, but so far i haven’t found anything exactly on point — or perhaps i just don’t recognize an answer that is staring me in the face.

When I use Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 to return a library book I get the following message, "If this borrowed item was fulfilled with one or more other items, returning it would also return all of these items". What does this message mean?
Might want to have your MacBook looked at.

Error message downloading library books
I cannot download or return library books - getting an error message - E_adept_request_expired - tried downloading Adobe digital editions 2.0 and got the same message - Help
That is often down to incorrect time, timezone or daylight savings settings on the computer running ADE.
If that doesn't help: ADE2.0 will not handle library books when used in conjuction with some eReaders (including but not only Sony PRS-350).
Try replacing with the less buggy older version.

There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0 (and 2.0.1). Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library. -
.ACSM file doesn't full download, crashes ADE 4.03 on Mac
Help, everytime I download a more restricted library book to my ADE on Mac it crashes. I have the log.
If I download a free for the whole world to use book , such as James Joyce Ulysses, I am offered from the start an .epub version which is fine. I can open those. Thus, the problem seems to be centered on accessing the book through the .acsm system.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled ADE 2x now.
Any I have reauthorized per my librarian and it did not help.
Why are the .ascm files not working? How can get this to work?

I have a library book in ADE that I want to return early. The instructions say open the book, click on Item Info to do this. But when I click on Item Info there is no option to Return Early. All I see is File Path info on the book, the publisher info, date borrowed, etc. but no Return Early option. Anybody help? Thanks!
Look in the top left corner on ADE screen. You should see a little thing that looks like 3 books. Try clicking on it. To return a book click just before the name of the book and you will see options listed.I think this will help, hope so.

Working on a MAC with a Kobo. ADE won't let me read DRM books - 4.0 crashes when opening library books (EVERY. SINGLE. TIME) so I installed 3.0 and now I get an "activation error". I have it authorized to my ID....WHERE IS THE STAFF TO ANSWER QUESTIONS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? I have wasted hours on this and I'm getting really annoyed.
Thank you! This worked. But now I copied my files back, which was successful. But the last file did´t work. I even loaded this file from the bookstore. When I try to load this file, ADE crashes and gives me the following report:

ADE crashes opening library book
Digital Editions will no longer transfer a library book to my Nook. I get the following error: "Adobe Digital Editions quit unexpectedly." I'm running OS X 10.10.1 and ADE 4.0.2
Follow-up... it turns out this problem was caused by a corrupted e-book file. The test is to download another e-book, then try to open it. At my librarian's suggestion, I tried this and it worked. They will try to fix their broken e-book file.

I reloaded ADE & deleted the book and borrowed it again.

Before this books seemed to download ok, but when I bought some books from KOBO some of the library books disappeared and others would only display table of contents, and would exit when I hit next page. Not sure what version of ADE I was using then. KOBO suggested I install 4.0, but sent me a link to 3.0 and I tried both. I called asking if I could return the KOBO and they walked me thru deleted both KOBO and ADE and reinstalling over several hours and borrowing more books, and it crashed. I tried several more times re0initialing my reader but not the 2 apps, and restarting it several times (was actually trying to get it to reset) and it finally started working until I tried to borrow this book.

KOBO now says it is an ADE problem and won't help me with it or let me return it. (Wish I had got a Kindle)I tried 3.0 and the latest book now opens and ADE says it is on KOBO after I drag it there, but when I disconnect and open KOBO itself it is not there.

My Adobe has stopped allowing me to move library books from my PC to my KOBO (both show authorized on the ADE. the message reads : CE_COPY_NOT_ALLOWED - No permission to copy book. It used to work. Any easy fixed for me?(I already tried uninstall and re-install)
Welcome to the Club! Got the same Problem and had a really hard time reaching the Customer Support because they were down due to maitenance! Just wrote to their experts chat and hope to get an answer in this life!
I tried to authorize my Computer and eBookreader with a new Adobe-ID, but it says I've done used this ID too often, even though it was brandnew! Can't copy my just-purchased eBook because "Copying is not allowed".
I hold my thumbs for you that Adobe solves this Problem fast enough. Other ways I'll sell my eBookreader and buy the Kindle-Reader from Amazon and say GOOD BYE to Adobe! -
Is anyone suddenly having trouble using Adobe Digital Editions on a Mac to download library books? I have been using this to load books on to my Nook and suddenly, out of nowhere, everything is downloading to the Finder app. ADE pops up like it always has when I download from the library website, but the book does not show up there.
Has something changed?1. iTunes won't offer cloud downloads for songs that it "thinks" are in your library, even if it "knows" the files are missing. If you've exhaustively searched for the missing files and there is no prospect of repair by restoring to them to their original locations, or connecting to new ones, then delete that tracks that display both the missing exclamation mark and are of media kind Purchased/Protected AAC audio file. Don't hide from iTunes in the cloud when asked, close iTunes, then reopen. You can download from the cloud links or iTunes Store > Quicklinks > Purchased > Music > Not on this computer > All songs > Download all.
2. Why? Not sure, perhaps 3rd party tools or accidental key presses combined with previously hidden warning messages when trying to organize the library. There is a hint that using the feature to downsample media as it is synced to a device may also be involved, though I've not replicated it. Whatever the reason a backup would protect your media.
