Returning the macbook for a higher level macbook?!?!??!

Hi all,
I just got my macbook 13 aluminum (2.0 GHz) on 14th April 2009 which was supposed to be delivered to me on 7th April, but because my office was closed so I got my macbook on 14th Arpil 2009. I would like to ask if I can return the current one and get a higher level one which is macbook 13 aluminum (2.4 GHz), as I found that the backlight keyboard is great and I want my macbook with faster performance. In fact, I returned my macbook to Apple before because there was a scratch on the keyboard, and Apple gave me a new macbook 13 aluminum which I am currently using now. So because I got my macbook on 14th instead of 7th because of the delivery problem, base on the 15 days policy, should the date starts on 7th or 14th? And am I suppose to return it and get a higher level one, i am willing to pay more for that.
Thanks!

You'll need to contact Apple on that. There are a few ways they can handle it. First of all, they usually consider your original purchase date for returns. If you have had yours replaced, the replacement date is not usually considered the original purchase date... so you're likely past your 14 day return period. If they make an exception, as you know, you typically have 14 days to make a return... that return period should commence on the date you accept delivery of the product. Provided you have documentation to show when the product was delivered, they may commence the 14 day period from that time. There is also generally a 10% restocking fee for returned products. The only way to know for sure is to contact Apple. This is just a user-to-user forum and Apple will not respond directly to comments posted here.

  • Error: Maintain settlement rule of the sender for a higher level WBS

    Hi,
I dont want to maintain the settlement rule for a higher level WBS. How can i configure this in such a way that i dont get the following error:" Maintain settlement rule of the sender" while doing CJ88. Maintaing a separate Settlement profile for a higher level WBS is an option but we are looking if something else could be done The problem is that there are no actuals booked against, say, level 2 WBS but when i execute CJ88, i get the aforesaid error. How can i ensure that only the lowest level WBS ask for the settlement rule and not the levels above it. I have already removed the Investment profile from the higher level WBS but still getting the same error.
    Regards,
    DPil

    Hi,
It is a type Capex WBS and Biling element is not checked. In fact i get a warning while doing the settlement: WBS is neither a billing element nor an account assignment element.
    Diagnosis
WBS element  is not indicated as either an account assignment element or as a billing element in the master record.
    System Response
The WBS element cannot be assigned to an account.
    Procedure
Correct your entries or add the missing indicator to the master record for the WBS element.
But this is just a warning. On pressing enter i get the error :Maintain settlement rule of the sender "

  • Design considerations for wrapping higher level process

So Ive used workflow now on a few projects and have become comfortable building/coding with it.  Recently a discussion was started to design a new process to automate a part of the business Im in and there are several different departments, each with
their own different functions and processes that they perform.  During this discussion, the thought came to me - why stop with just the "small" picture where I was using WF to contain and execute business rules, but also wrap the higher level
    abstractions also.
For example, a department performs steps A, B and C.  Each step might have some branching in it (if/then etc).  Its only the "steps Im using workflow currently.
Above the department, there is another layer, lets call it "group".  There would be several different groups, each with its own departments, some with the same name as other groups, but the internal structure might be different for a given
department between groups.  So this means that if I modeled a department in one group, I cant assume I can reuse that department in another groups workflow.
My main unknown however, is how would a user interact with a workflow that was this high level.  Abstracting higher levels, means users dont need to interact with or execute the whole workflow each time, only a part of it.  So am I looking at pausing/resuming
the bigger workflow?  How can I "skip" to a certain stage or area of a workflow, bypassing the stuff that has already been done?
Correct me if Im wrong, but this seems to be where I need to look at bookmarks?
In my case, something similar to an order in a shopping cart is what would be the input type for the bigger workflow.  There are several different groups of users that have to set or add properties to associated objects (sql tables) related to the order
before it can be marked "complete".
How would you tie together a "wizard" type concept with workflow?  This seems to be the type of model we are considering.  A user takes an order a few steps, then another user from a different group/department adds some attributes and
the workflow/wizard continues a few more levels down.  Finally, after all the rules have been matched and required data provided, the workflow can "finish".
    Hope my description seems clear.

If you want to skip to certain state or bypass what stuff that has been done, you need give logic judgment first. Bookmarks are the mechanism that enables an activity to passively wait for input without holding onto a workflow thread. When an activity signals
that it is waiting for stimulus, it can create a bookmark. So bookmark is available for you during create this application.
Here are some workflow applications, see:

    hope it helps.

  • How to restrict from creating the  Network for  1st & 2nd level  WBS

    Hi All,
In our project structure we have up to 5 levels of WBS, In some cases we have creates  3 level also . Now we want to restrict creates Network for first two level WBS  , actually we want to restrict user to Create PR for those WBS so if we restrict them from creation of Network for 1st &  2nd level then they not able to create PR for same  .
    Thanks,
    Virendra

    Hi Virendra,
I can suggest you other way round solution.
If you are sure that those two WBS will not take any actual or commitment cost, then its better to NOT to mark those WBS elements as Account Assignment Element. I mean, if you do not set the indicator of Acct. Assignment Element (Untick Acct Assignment Element) on those WBS, then user will not be able to create Networks on those WBS Elements. Try this on your development or quality client and let me know if it works.
If it works, then you just need to disabled the Acct. Assignment Element indicator for those two WBS element and you can achieve that through substitution and field selection of WBS as well.
    OR
Just look at OPSG settings at tab component. Just look if that can solve your purpose because your requirement is to stop PR from those WBS element. (I am just wondering if you can stop user from creating/change material components from those WBS-Networks)
    OR
Go for User Status and set it to on those WBS Elements. Object Types will be Networks and Network Header.
    OR
Try to achieve a validation or substitution where in you can mark Res./Pur. Req as 1 (Never) only for those two WBS elements. In this way user cannot create PR on those two WBS elements.

  • What are the specifications for Internal Hardisk 500GB Macbook Pro (Mid-2012)?

I need to purchase a new internal hard disk for my Macbook, I'm gonna go for 500GB space.
Now. I need to know the specifications. I don't want suggestions, because I live in India and I may not be able to purchase the harddisk which you tell me to.

Will any of the above two harddisk work with my 13 inch Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) model?

Drive #2 would be your best bet - except for the fact that it's a 3.5 inch drive and you need a 2.5" x 9.5mm drive.
Look on your site for HGST 7k1000 drives - 1TB and it will 'fit' your machine exceptionally well.

    Here's a good one.

  • What size SSD does the 13 inch 2012 entry-level MacBook Pro use?

I want to upgrade my 2012 13" MacBook Pro to use an SSD. I know that MacBooks use 2.5 inch laptop drives, but what are the sizes that MacBooks support?
    12.5mm, 9mm or 7.5mm etc...?

Most if not all SSDs are of the 9mm size and have a rubber bumper on them to make them taller, the 12.5 size. you can take the bumper system off most of them to make them fit into a 9mm space. But your Mac will take any size UP To 12.5mm. Not so for the optical bay.

  • In the market for a 15in i5 MacBook Pro but whats up with all th problems?

I'm reading the board and it's making me not want to buy with all these issues on here.

It's worth noting that these Forums are mostly inhabited by people experiencing some sort of issue and are not at all representative of the wider community, many of whom are probably delighted with their purchase and not having any issues at all - i.e. this view is distorted.
That's not to say some hardware and software problems don't happen from time to time but usually Apple move quickly to fix/replace dodgy hardware and release firmware and software updates as needed.
All Apple hardware comes with a 1 year warranty so if you purchase and there's anything wrong you don't have to be concerned about it being fixed or replaced free of charge. You can also extend your AppleCare for an extra two years if you feel this is worth it.

  • Low spec iMac and MacBook pro OR high spec MacBook pro 15inch

I am about to buy my first mac for college. I am going to use it for photo editing and general use. I don't know whether to buy the low spec MacBook pro 13 inch 2011 for £999 to take to college everyday AND buy the low spec iMac 2011 for £999 to use at home on my desk.
    OR
Buy the MacBook pro 15 inch 2011 to use at college and at home.
I know that this option is cheaper and that I can hook it up to another screen but I can't decide which option is better.
    What do you think?

For college your going to need a portable machine.
Also your going to be using that computer in various enviroments, outside etc., where you can't control the lighting like overhead lights and windows, so a built in anti-glare screen is your best coice to see the screen at nearly all times. (after market anti-glare films are expensive and peal off, bubble, collect dirt, need constant replacement etc)
The 13" doesn't have a built in anti-glare screen option, the 15" and above do.
If your not going to 3D game, then the 2.0 Ghz 15" MacBook Pro.
If you are going to 3D game, run HD video, use a larger monitor better, and generally want the machine to feel snappy longer, then the 2.2 Ghz 15" and above is your weapon of choice.
The 13" sized screen is a bit cramped, the integrated graphics tend to make it overheat (search ASC for details), the 15" is about right for most uses and the 17" is a monster.

  • Sugestion for a higher level of security in APEX

I have noticed that APEX's developer interface supports page groups but you cannot use page groups to manage security. In most of the programs I build, it would be very useful to be able to blanket apply security settings over a group of settings in one location rather than having to go to each page. Example, I have a program where you have to be in a database table to be able to access a large part of it. I would like to be able to go one place group those pages together and then set an authorization scheme and or conditions that would apply to every page in that group and not just a single page. I would also to not just have this set the page level security but retain the ability to tighten up the security to fine tune the access to individual pages in the page grouping if required. I have many cases where I really need a compound security setup where multiple authorization schemes are checked. I know I can build new schemes but it would be more efficient to be able to layer them to form my security setup from lower levels of security (designed to cover a general group of pages) to strongest (designed to be applied to one or more specific pages) in a way where their effects would compound and you would need to pass each of them in order to be authorized to view the page.
I don't know if this is practical but its just a thought for the future.

Actually... yes, that is 1 of the 2 reasons I posted here.
Reason 1: That those that have the administrative and moderation access in this forum, also has access to the account information of the members that have signed up here. Which pretty much every forum software package grants the rights to those of the administrative/moderator staff. Or at least at a minimum could reply to the post, with the information that I am seeking.
Reason 2: This is a discussion forum, and I thought... people come here to help one another. And as I listed before, we tried the LEGAL contact page on Apple.com, no luck there. We tried going via iPhone developer program information contacts... dead end. And our legal contacts did in fact try to reach out to contacts that we also did have on file... and those also ended up in a dead end.
So excuse me for using yet another avenue of communicating with Apple and people who may also have or are going through the same situation.
As for the sarcastic replies... I know exactly why I am getting them, and hence why I returned them. I am absolutely no stranger to the anonymous world of discussion forums. But if you want to continue thinking that everything is just like slicing a piece of apple pie, and serving...
Then you seriously underestimating the complexity of issues like this.
All I did was come here to ask for some assistance when every known avenue has turned up to be a dead end. I thank the person that provided at least another avenue, that may lead to proper solution.

  • Maxed out MacBook pro or Mid level MacBook pro with Retina?

I am entering my first year in university in the next couple weeks. I am going to be studying commerce for the next 4 years. I want a macbook that will last me for the 4 years and still be a good product at that time period. Now I am wondering if I should spend $2000  on the maxed out MacBook pro or 2600 for the midlevel MacBookmacbook pro with Retina display. Looking forward to great feedback. Thanks

It depends on how far you want to go - and how much you want to spend - in maxing out the computer. Let me visit the Apple Store -
The 'base model' you should go with is the:
    15-inch: 2.6 GHz
    2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    750GB 5400-rpm hard drive
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
    Built-in battery (7 hours)
This will be a 'stock' item and has the maximum amount of RAM that Apple will install and is $2,199. The only modifcation to make on this model is the CPU and hard drive, as it also comes with the maxed out VRAM for the NVIDIA graphics card. I wouldn't go for the extra speed bump on the CPU - it's just not worth it. What is worth the extra money is an uprade to the hard drive - from the 750GB 5400-rpm to the 750GB 7200-rpm for an extra $50. If you really want to max it out, of course, you could add the $900 option of the 512GB SSD, but I wouldn't do that - simply too much to pay. So for $2,249 you could get:
    15-inch: 2.6 GHz
    2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    750GB 7200-rpm hard drive
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory
    Built-in battery (7 hours)
...and have a very fast (not warp speed, but fast) computer that should you ever decide to upgrade, you can.
As for the Retina display, it's simply something that I would not invest in at this time. The 'base' model, with only 8GB of RAM is $2,799.00. Increase that RAM to 16GB, and you're looking at $2,999. The extra $750 just isn't worth it. And with few applications taking advantage of the Retina display (if they ever do) you're going to be looking at pixelated tools, text, etc., for who knows how many years. You could get by running only Apple applications, I suppose, but I'm just not ready to be placed in that kind of restrictive mode... are you?
    Just my 2¢, again...

  • Contact Point for a HIGHER level of development licensing for iPhone?

I know about the Enterprise Program.
I know about the Individual Developer Program.
I am looking for a contact point, for which our legal team could contact for a development/licensing agreement that doesn't fit within either of those two programs.
The company I work for is not small potatos and is a major player in the market we are focusing on. We are still far from of till we have a complete product, but our legal team wants to start discussions now with Apple... so everything can get worked out by the time we are ready to go.
So if one of the Apple folks see this, I am sure you can see my email address in my private profile... please email me directly. If someone else happens to know, please post it if you can. Even if it is just a number, that I can call to talk to someone... to get the next phone number to call.
I hope that all made sense.

  • Summing up the price of the sub items and put it in the Higher level item

    Dear Experts,
I have got one requirement from my customer.
The requirement is while creating the Sales order (in VA01), in the line item the customer will enter the Material, Quantity and Higher level item for the line item.In Condition Tab page price and Condition will be entered.
My requirement is at the time of saving the sales order the price of the lower level items has to be summed up and this price has to be put in condition tab page of the higher level item.
This is my requirement. Is it possible?if yes please explian me how to do this.
If anybody not able to understand my question please reply back to me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ashok.

    Hi
Here u need to find user exit that suits ur requirement like user exit that will trigger while saving that sale order and in that user exit u are able to access that tables where all the lower level item prices stored and condition table where price stored. Then u can do sum and update that sum into condition price table. So search for user exit that suits ur requirement.

  • Running a Sub-VI and monitoring data that is generated on a higher level VI

    Hi All,
This question must been there before, but I cannot find a suitable answer here on the forums....
I have a 'top-level' VI that does a lot of things. I also have a sub VI that runs a frequency sweep on a piece of equipment. This is done with a for loop.
    Problem:
I want to monitor/access the data that is generated in the for loop (See attached, the 3 wires within the green circle I want to monitor).
    2 Questions:
How can I access the data on the wires (within the loop) from a higher level VI?
How can I then run this VI in a higher level VI while the higher level VI is continuing and not waiting for the sub-VI to complete?
I tried using a Que but I cannot seem to get that working.
    Any suggestions?

The queue is a good way to move data from a running subVI to another VI.  Your problem is that if the subVI is inside a loop in the main VI, that loop in the main VI cannot iterate until the subVI completes. The solution: have the sub VI running in parallel - not inside - the loop.
Look at the Producer/Consumer Design Patterns (at File >> New... >> VI >> From Template >> Frameworks >> Design Patterns >> Producer/Consumer.  This may be more than you need at the moment but will show how the parallel code process works.
