Revaluation Depreciation Area

Hi Guys,
I had created a new revaluation depreciation area in OADB transaction.
My question is, this new area should be set up as "area posts in real time" or "Area does not post"?!?
Thanks

Hi,
May I add some more information regarding posting indicator 1 in OADB:
You can have more than one area posting real time to general ledger, however not all of them can have APC values.
In most cases, depreciation area 01 is set with indictor "posting to GL = 1" and manages APC
values.
Please check the definition of your revaluation area in that way that the depreciation does not manage APC at all (T093-VZANSW = "0"). In this case you can use also posting indicator 1 for your revaluation area.
Kind regards,
Brigitte

  • Activate a depreciation area

In OAYZ for an asset class I have a revaluation depreciation area deactivate (area 44).
Now I must insert with AS91 in a company with the same chart of depreciation new assets in this class but the user want to insert value in this area (area 44) actually deactivate.
If I activate this area there are problems with all the other assets of the other companies that are in this class?
    Thank for the reply.
    Best regards.
    Roby

    Hi Roby,
if the depreciation area 44 is active in OAYZ it is available if you create a asset via AS01 or AS91. Then you can deactivate it in AS01 or AS91. This can be done in the tab strip "Deprec. area". If the asset is saved there is no more possibility to activate the areas. So, when you create a asset you can decide if you want to have the area 44 in the asset or not. This has no impact on other assets. If you would deactivate the area in OAYZ it would have a impact on assets which you create up to now, but not on already created assets. If a asset is already created it is not that easy to implement a new area.  (Then there would be a little bit complicate procedure with RAFABNEW).
    Hope this clarify your question.

  • Post revaluation to selected depreciation area of an asset

    Hi,
We are using depreciation area '01' for posting to GL accounts and '02' for fiscal reporting. It turned out that couple of assets had wrong depreciation key specified for depreciation area '02', which resulted in wrong depreciation calculated for '02' in last 3 years.
We would like to correct it now, once we discovered this issue. One of the ideas was to create new revaluation transaction type which is active only for depreciation area '02', which will only change value of asset in that particuaral area without affecting correct '01',
However, after configuring new transaction type in AO84 and assigning it to '02' depreciation area in OAXJ, when I tried to run ABAW for this asset - it gave me error AA 380.
'Inconsistency between the specifications for transaction type Z11 and for the depreciation areas in chart of depreciation PTI.
Depreciation area 02 is defined (in Customizing), so that it is required to take over values from area 01. However, one of these ares cannot be posted to, due to the specifications in transaction type Z11. This combination is not allowed.'
Is it possible to configure postings only to one depreciaton area? If not - is there any other easy way of revaluating only one depreciation area for an asset.
    Thank you,

    Hi Blaz,
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to increase the value of the asset in depreciation area 02, because due to wrong depreciation key it got fully depreciated last year in 02. I want to add the value to 02 which should have not been depreciated in last 2 years. Is there a way to increase its value using ABAA?
    Thank you,

  • Add depreciation area to old assets (revaluation area)

    Hi guys,
I've created a new depreciation area for setting revaluation of assets. This new dep area only contains revaluation of assets (we'll only have revaluation and depreciation of this revaluation in this new area), so I've configured it to manage only revaluation values. Acquisition values are not allowed.
In OABC i've put "00" in the area where this new area takes values from, due to i don't want thhis new area to copy acquisitions values from area 01.
I've made the rest of the configuration also, to support revaluation transactions (mov 800) in this new area. But, I've got 2 problems now:
    1. The new area i configured is missing when creating a new asset in AS01. However, when using AS91 the new area shows up. Any idea of why this happens that way?
    2. I cannot add the new area in old assets. When using AFBN a message appears: "Depreciation area 20, which you want to create as a new depreciation area in chart of depreciation PVPE, has no depreciation area defined for value takeover. This may be be correct for normal operation, however for the purposes of creating a new depreciation in the productive system, you have to enter a depreciation area whose values are used as base values for the new area."
Message makes sense, because my new area is not copying values from any area (in tcode OABC i defined 00 as dep area source). The question is.. is there any additional tcode where i can add the new depreciation area to old assets?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    there are the following steps:
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :
3.1 - Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
The system will copy all the past years values from
               depreciation area 01.
3.2 - Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
    4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.

  • Revaluation of depreciation for prior year in alternative depreciation area

    Hi,
I have a problem with a couple of assets. We are using 2 depreciation areas - one for statutory depreciation that is posted against GL accounts and one for fiscal purposes, which is only statistical.
For some assets the depreciation key in the alternative, fiscal depreciation area was wrong in last two fiscal years. Is it possible to reopen that old fiscal years and change the depreciation area to correct one and revaluate the depreciation only in that parallel depreciation area? If yes - which steps should i carry out in SAP? This depreciation area does not affect GL accounts posting - so I hope it is possible.
    Thank you,
    Karol

    Hi Murali,
    Thank you for your reply.
My only concern is - I don't want to affect the other depreciation areas (in case anything changed in their depreciation keys).
Is there a way to just open past years only for this particular depreciation area and to rerun depreciation just for it?
I thought of OAAR transaction - undo year end closing by Depreciation area - just to focus on it. Do you think it might work the same as AJRW, or should I use AJRW?
Can I  run AFAR only for the selected depreciation area and it will not affect any other depreciaton area? We are using 4.6C version.
    Thank you,
    Karol

  • Asset Revaluation: Depreciation calculation not hiting revaluation accounts

    Dear All,
I have to revaluate assets. I have done the configuration as follows:
    1. Assignment of Balance sheet and Depreciation accounts for revaluation.
    2. Configured depreciation key so that it will calculate the depreciation on the replacement values.
    3. Selected 'check box' for 'Post Revaluation' in posting rules for my company code.
    4. Defined the depreciation area for posting of acquisition and production cost and depreciation.
    5. Selected 'All values allowed' for 'revaluation' in required depreciation area (01).
I am posting the revaluation on the asset through transaction 'AB01', after that in the depreciation posting run an accounting document is getting generated for revaluation on APC. The entry is as follows :-
    70 Revaluation acquis. and production cost a/c    x x x
    50 Offsetting a/c revaluation APC                                    x x x
This entry is correct as per the revaluation scenario but, no accounts are getting posted which are assigned in 'Account assignment for revaluation on depreciation' i.e.
    1. Revaluation accumulated ordinary depreciation a/c.
    2. Offsetting account revaluation ordinary depreciation.
System is not postign values on 'revaluation of  depreciation' to these accounts. System is  posting the depreciation revaluation amounts to normal depreciation accounts i.e.
    1. Expenses a/c for ordinary depreciation.
2.Accumulated depreciation account for ordinary depreciation.
The required 'depreciation revaluation' accounts are not getting posted (in any period depreciation run).
Is there any other revaluation configuration that, I am missing here or is there any other way to post to these two 'revaluation on ord. depreciation accounts.' Can anyone shade light on this problem.

    Dear Rohit,
Thank you very much for your reply. I followed the same procedure posted by you. While executing AR29, system is giving following error.
Revaluation data does not agree with date of depreciation posting*
    Message no. APERB023
    Diagnosis
You want to execute the revaluation posting in period 011/2010. This requires that this period was the last period posted by the depreciation posting run. No other period may be posted after that. The posting run for this period is also not allowed to be still outstanding. According to the log table, the last run posted was 009/2011.
The asset value date of the asset is 01.04.2011 and have to revaluate this asset in current posting perid (9). The fiscal year is  from 'Aprl-Mar.
Could you please let me know the following things:
    1. Is it necessay to select the checkbox for 'Post automatically' in the offsetting accounts.
    2. I have created one transaction type 'Z80', it has an account assignment as 'Debit transction'. The posting type options selected in this transaction type are as follows
    a. Post gross --> Yes
    b. Do not post to affiliated company --> Yes
    3. I should use the same transaction type/configure a new one or use any other std. transaction type in 'AR29'?
    4. Is it the case that system takes current date as posting /revaluation date in transaction AR29, because from the error it seems that it is considering the curent date.
    5. Which options from the 'control data for posting' should be selected from ' New valuation of an asset' tab page of 'AR29?
    a.With depreciation write back.
    b. W/out Dep. write vback
    6. If i change the inputes in AR29 transaction, system is giving the following error:
    ''No records were selected''
    7. What should be the correct inputs in transaction 'AR29'
    Please help.

  • Logic of different Depreciation Areas

    Hi,
Kindly tell me the logic of different Depreciation eys?
    Regards

depreciation areas are used to calculate different values in parallel for each fixed asset for different purposes. For example, you may require different types of values for the balance sheet than for cost accounting or tax purposes. You manage the depreciation terms and values necessary for this valuation in the depreciation areas of each asset.
SAP allows you to define up to 99 depreciation areas, you can manage many different types of valuation (Customizing: Valuation). Depreciation areas are grouped together, according to the requirements of a specific country or economic area, into a chart of depreciation
You can post both the asset balance sheet values and the depreciation values from the individual depreciation areas to separate balance sheet accounts or income statement accounts in the general ledger. You specify the accounts individually in the account determination key for each depreciation area. Define the account determination key in FI-AA Customizing and specify the key in the particular asset class
Usually you need to post more than one depreciation area in parallel to the general ledger if you are creating different financial statement versions. You can define any number of balance sheet versions per chart of accounts in FI (General Ledger) for this purpose. For each balance sheet account and income statement account, you specify in the financial statement version the balance sheet position or income statement position in which the account values should appear
The depreciation areas in a chart of depreciation have no automatically defined features. You determine the features of each area individually, based on the basic structure, which is the same for all depreciation areas. You can make specifications for the following levels for each depreciation area:
At the chart of depreciation level
    At the company code level
    For legacy data transfer
Features at Chart of Depreciation Level
    Use
You can specify the following features for a depreciation area at the chart of depreciation level (Customizing: Valuation ® Depreciation Areas).
    Features
Posting Values from Depreciation Area to General Ledger
You can automatically post asset balance sheet values (APC/ proportional value adjustments) and depreciation from each depreciation area to the corresponding general ledger accounts. You can choose whether values are automatically posted immediately online in Financial Accounting (at present, only possible for one area per chart of depreciation; with two exceptions: investment support areas managed on the liabilities side, and areas solely for revaluation), or are posted automatically at periodic intervals to Financial Accounting.
In addition, you can specify that only depreciation (no APC values) should be posted automatically. This type of posting might be useful for depreciation areas for cost accounting depreciation.
    Managing Certain Values
In the definition of a depreciation area, you can specify if the area should manage acquisition and production costs (APC). Areas that do not manage APC are, for example, depreciation areas only for value adjustments shown on the liabilities side (for example, investment support).
In addition, you specify in each depreciation area whether the net book value of assets in the area is allowed to be positive and/or negative. The system rejects any posting that leads to a net book value that contradicts the rule you entered.
Allow negative net book value in all areas
    That have depreciation below zero
That are intended for value adjustments shown on the liabilities side
That are derived depreciation areas, and can have negative values because of their calculation formula.

  • Posting assets to some depreciation areas

    Hello SAP Gurus,
I have a Chart of depreciation with :
    01 Corporative area (principal ledger)
    02 Local area (local ledger)
    03 Revaluation of local area
    07 Fiscal area
    08 Revaluation of fiscal area
Question is, how can I post to local or fiscal area without posting to pricipal area 01 ?. Using FB01 with a movement class that doesn't post on area 01 throws the followin error :
    &CAUSE&
You have entered a transaction type which only updates depreciation
areas, which are not automatically entered in the General Ledger.
Therefore, no document can be created for Financial Accounting. In the
transaction you have selected, however, you can only post business
    transactions with documents.
    &SYSTEM_RESPONSE&
    &WHAT_TO_DO&
Via the menu bar 'Postings' and pull-down menu 'Miscellaneous', you can
post without a document. Alternatively you can enter a transaction type
which updates the depreciation area and has automatic entry to the
    General Ledger.
How can I do that without destroying the local balance for the local ledger. I need to user the counterpart account..
    Help in advance.

If I understood you correct, your depreciation area does not post values in general ledger. And you wish to post something to that depreciation area and to have contra account in GL? That is not possible; or your depreciation area posts to GL and you will be able to use transaction type that corresponds to this requirement, or your depreciation area is not posting to GL and you have to use ttype which is not updating GL.
FB01 requiers creating of financial document and your ttype is saying that posting is related to depreciation area which does not post to GL. So, this is not possible. If you need posting in that depreciation area (which does not posts to GL) you need transaction like ABSO, not standard FI transactions.

  • Depreciation ares

    Hello all,
I have a question regarding the depreciation ares. We have (besides the others) one for revaluations and one for statutory reporting. But what we want is the depreciation for a revaluated asses to finish at the same time as that in the statutory. How is that possible?
    Regards,
    Niki

let me explain a bit more in detail - the revaluation area posts the delta between the APC value and the "new" value and when you revalue an asset usually it is at some point during the lifecycle of the asset, not in the beggining hence you cannot simply put the same useful life for the revaluation. Anyway, the answer is quite simple, its available in SAP help - there is a "takeover between depreciation areas" - You can allow for depreciation areas to adopt APC, as well as depreciation terms, from another depreciation area. You can also specify that the takeover is mandatory, and that no changes are allowed. In this way, you ensure that two areas are always supplied with the same values when posting, or that two areas are uniformly depreciated.

  • How to delete depreciation areas when a posting is made in asset accounting

    Hi All,
We are implementing asset accounting to few of our company codes as a new company code start up project. We have opened depreciation areas for tax for one company code and found that we are not going to use this company code for asset accounting.
We have already opened 2 depreciation areas one for tax and the other as difference between book and tax depr in our development client. One of our member has created an asset and posted values to it. Now, we were told that we dont need to open the depreciation areas. When i am trying to delete it system giving error message saying you cannot delete the derived depr as the values have already been posted.
Please advice how i should proceed with the above issue for deleting the depreciation areas. Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rose,
For the below mentioned issue do the following:
    1) reset all the depreciation data ( t code OAGL)
    2)  reset all the asset account co code data (t code OABL)
then u can go and delete the depreciation areas.

  • Unable to assign the depreciation area to co. code

    Hi,
I am getting the below message
Inconsistency between FI company code BHEL and chart of deprec. BHEL
    Message no. AC481
    Diagnosis
You tried to assign chart of depreciation BHEL to company code BHEL. According to its Customizing definition, this company code manages parallel currencies.
The chart of depreciation does not contain a corresponding depreciation area for each of the currency types that are defined in the company code.
    System Response
    This assignment is not possible.
    Procedure
    1. Check the currency types of the company code.
    2. Specify a corresponding depreciation area for each currency type.
Please any one explain the way to resolve.
    Thanks,

    Hello Rajesh,
Please search the asset accounting forum.  A lot has been written on this very question already.  I would have included a link but I have noticed that, sometimes when I answer a question, someone for some obvious reason deletes the question or subject to which I provided an answer.

  • Write up an asset for a depreciation area

    Hi All,
We have 2 Depreciation areas 01 for local, 02 for IAS.
I try to write up as asset with t-code ABZU, but it only takes effect for area 01.
My problem is how to write up an asset which takes effect for area 02 only?
    Thanks.
    Claude

Hi - First determine the transaction type that you are using in ABZU. Eg you use transaction type 700.
Go to tcoe OAXE ( limit transactions per deprecation area) and select the area 02 for display for selection. You can select the always post option if this transaction type should always post for this depreciation area.
    Thanks,
    Zaid Azam

  • Fixed asset Write up Error. ABZU(Parallel depreciation area 32 is not poste

    Hi Sap Gurus,
I am running into an error when trying to post a write up via "ABZU". Here is the error message "Parallel depreciation area 32 is not posted". Message no. AA565.
    Diagnosis
The asset to be posted does not manage parallel depreciation area 32, or transaction type  that you are using is limited to certain depreciation areas, and does not contain depreciation area 32. This is incorrect.
    System Response
    Posting is rejected.
    Procedure
Check the asset and the transaction type.
I tried "Limit Transaction Types to Depreciation Areas" in t-code:OAXE for derpeciation area 01 and 32 but still i am getting the same error. I am using ttype:700. When i look into derpeciation tab in asset master record i have depreciation area 32 is there. Is there any configuration piece i am missing. We are using area 32 as IFRS in group which is copy of 01.
    Any help will be appreciate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Babu

    Hi,
    There are the following reasons:
    1) The wrong transaction type is being used.  Please verify that  you are using transaction type in the 700 series for your write-up.
    2) The transaction type is restricted to certain depreciation areas.   In transaction OAXE the transaction type can be restricted to post  only to certain areas.  If the asset manages a parallel area you  have to extend the posting to include the parallel area.
    3) The asset was created before you introduced parallel currencies and  does not manage the parallel area.  In this case, the parallel  area must be created on the asset or the values need to be  transferred to a new asset that manages the parallel area.
    4) Transacion types 600 and 601 can only be used for assets that have a  calculation key in their depreciation area that allows no automatic  calculation (for example depr key MANU).  The unplanned transaction types however can be used with assets that  allow automatic calculation.
You also need to verify that there are entries in Table ANLB for the  asset in question for the depreciation area.
    5) Your company code uses parallel currencies (currency types 10-co.code  currency, 50-Index based currency, 30-Group currency...for example).  The assets created in this company code must have the depreciation areas for parallel currencies active. You can only do this in activating the depreciation areas with  parallel currencies for all the asset classes used in this company code.
Check transaction OAYZ to make sure the areas are activated for all  asset classes in the co.code.  If not, you will need to       activate these areas and ensure the asset has all areas assigned.
