Reveal item in Finder opens Preview

Hello, strange issue.
When in spotlight and I click CMD+return to open image in Finder, the app Preview opens instead.
Also, when I am in iPhoto and in File…Reveal in Finder it also opens the image in Preview rather than Finder.
I've looked through all keyboard shortcuts and settings but can't seem to find a solution to this.
Any help would be immensely appreciated!

If fruhulda's suggestion doesn't work I think your Launch Services database is corrupt. Use a third-party application like OnyX or Maintenance to rebuild it.

Yes, cmd-option on a file you choose in Spotlight and the path will appear at the bottom of the Preview window.
EDIT: Also, if it is bookmarked the path is in Bookmarks.

  • To find open line items as in FS10N

    Hi Friends,
I need your advise since I don't know the accounting funtionality happening in FS10N open items with standard tables (open items).
The open line items available or showing in FS10N which is not stored in open item tables like BSIS,BSID or BSIK. Some are saved/available in cleard items tables such as BSAS,BSAD or BSAK. But if i consider for my report purpose, ther are other line items of the same document which are coming up in my report those are cleared and not needed as per requirement.
My FI cons says, those document stored in cleared items table(which are still open items in FS10N) are still need to be cleared.
*******In FAGLFLEXA table, i couldn't able to find how to filter a document which is open or cleared item.
Please help me how to differentiate and get my open line items from the tables as same as stored in FS10N.
    thanks & regards
    Sankar.

    Hi,
Let me explain the link betwee tables so that you understand the flow. All accounting documents are stored in BKPF (header data) and BSEG (Line item). From BSEG, the line items are identified according to their account types - K (vendors) D (Customers) and S (GL accounts) and copied to their secondary indes tables.
Each of the above account types have two tables (also called secondary index tables) -
S - BSAS (Cleared items) and BSIS (Open Items)
K - BSAK (Cleared items) and BSIK (Open Items)
D - BSAD (Cleared items) and BSID (Open Items).
Now as per your question, FS10N is for GL acoount balance, so you need to refer to BSAS (for cleared items) and BSIS (for open items).
If you could explain your rquirement in the report, I can try and give you a logic.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks and Regards,

suggests a method for removing items from the "open with" menu that shouldn't be there.
I have NOT tried the above, so use the usual cautions (backup beforehand, etc.).

  • Cannot create new folders on desktop. Cannot drag new items onto desktop. Desktop in Finder opens with Terminal. Not sure if this has anything to do with upgrading to Mavericks but I need help if anyone has ideas. Thank you.

I can no longer create new folders on my desktop. The option to do that is now light gray on the drop down menu and can't be selected.
I cannot drag new items onto desktop any longer either.
The Desktop in Finder opens with Terminal.
Folders and items on Desktop open and work normally.
Not sure if this has anything to do with upgrading to Mavericks but I need help if anyone has ideas.
    Thank you.

Take these steps if the cursor changes from an arrow to a white "prohibited" symbol when you try to move an icon on the Desktop.
Sometimes the problem may be solved just by logging out or rebooting. Try that first, if you haven't already done it. Otherwise, continue.
Select the icon of your home folder (a house) in the sidebar of a Finder window and open it. The Desktop folder is one of the subfolders. Select it and open the Info window. In the General section of the window, the Kind will be either Folder  or something else, such as Anything.
If the Kind is Folder, uncheck the box marked Locked. Close the Info window and test.
If the Kind is not Folder, make sure the Locked box is not checked and that you have Read & Write privileges in the  Sharing & Permissions section. Then close the Info window and do as follows.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    xattr -d com.apple.FinderInfo Desktop
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You should get a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”). Quit Terminal.
    Relaunch the Finder.
If the problem is now resolved, and if you use iPhoto, continue.
Quit iPhoto if it's running. Launch it while holding down the option key. It will prompt you to select a library. Choose the one you want to use (not the Desktop folder.)

  • Finding Open Box items

I know this has probably been asked before but since the term "open box" can refer to many different subjects I didn't want to sniff through 20 pages of results to see if I can narrow down an answer. I just wanted to know if there is any way to see what items my local Best Buy has on Open Box status, or do I just have to call/walk in to see this? It would be nice to find out on the web if there is an item that is Open Box, and I can just drive over on my lunch break to see if it's still available. Thanks.

Sometimes they put them up on the Best Buy website on the store's particular page with a link to some open box items the store has but I've only seen that twice and it's a recent development that nobody seems to be utilizing.

  • Finder Icon Preview Quicktime?

I was wondering if there was a way to see the first frame of any movie files in a directory as a preview in con view..
I'm coming from a windows background and when I look in explorer I can see an image from the film clip as its icon...
On my new MacBook Pro, I can set the folder options to icon view and see jpeg images, however the avi files just have a quicktime logo on them...no real preview...
Is there a way to do this on Mac OS?
    Thx!

I don't know of a way to see a preview in the Finder window in icon view, however if you change to Column view, and in the View->Show View Options you check the boxes for both show preview column and show icon you will see a preview of any movie format that QuickTime understands. Furthermore, you can actually PLAY the movie in the preview in the Preview column, as well as just see the first frame.
If you want to stay in icon view, you can select a file, then bring up the Inspector window--hold dow both the command, option and i keys. Open the Preview section of the Inspector window. Again, you can play the movie as well as see the first frame. You can navigate around using the arrow keys, and each newly selected item displays in the Preview section of the Inspector window.

  • Keyboard shortcut to open Preview?

When I want to scroll through a folder with pictures, I usually drag the folder from the Finder to the Preview icon in my dock. Is there a way to open Preview with a keyboard shortcut?
I know about pressing the spacebar to open Quicklook, but I prefer Preview.

Maybe there is a simpler solution, but you can bind custom keyboard shortcuts to services.
So to open the items in a folder in Preview define a Service "OpenFolderInPreview" and assign a keyboard shortcut to it in the keyboard shortcuts tab of the "keyboard" system Preferences.
    To create the Service:
Open Automator and create a new service. Set it to receive files and folders.
Drag a "Get Folder Content" action to the workflow.
Drag a "Open Images in Preview" action to the workflow.
    Save and name the Service.
    To register the Service:
Open "System Preferences" and open the "Keyboard" panel.
    Click the "Keyboard Shortcuts" tab
Click "Services" in the left column.
Select your new service in the right column; click the "Add Shortcut" button and press a Key Combination.

  • How to find open orders and open quantity

    Hi abap gurus,
i want to find the open orders with the quantity  means those orders for which we don't have goods issues(and partial deliverys is also possible). i get this scenario but i don't know how to start.
i think i should go to VBUP table and get all the orders
which have overall status GBSTA = 'A' OR 'B'.
So from this i will get all the open orders but i need to find open quantity also .
please tell me how can i find out and  which table do i need to use.

You need to check between delivery line item table as well sales order line item table.
Sales order Line item table : VBAP
Delivery line item table : LIPS
if order qty and delivery qty are same then there is no open qty if not then there is open qty.
    Thanks

  • Viewing animated GIFs in the Finder and Preview

I was wondering why my animated gif images do not play while I view them in the preview in the Finder or Preview. I know it plays when I view gifs in Explorer and was wondering why doesn't the Finder/Preview.
I would really like to be able to view the animated gifs without having to open either Safari or Fire Fox to view them.
    Thanks

    Welcome to Discussions.
Apparently Preview lost that functionality a few versions ago. And Quicklook also doesn't seem to do it. Someone said that Pathfinder plays them, http://www.cocoatech.com.
If you don't want to use a "big" program like Safari or Quicktime, then your best bet is to use a quick and easy image viewer like Xee http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/xee.html.
Set it as default application by selecting a gif file, press cmd-I. Choose Xee under Open with and click Change all.

  • HT2506 After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks

Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
    1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. If there is more than one item in the folder with the words "Flash Player" (not "flashplayer") in the name, open the respective Info windows, check the version numbers, and delete all except the latest. You may be prompted for your login password. If you get the same error after doing that, re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    2. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    3. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    4. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.

  • Get-Item: Cannot find path ' ' because it does not exist. While running Powershell script.

I am trying to run a PowerShell script to upload files into a SharePoint site in an Azure environment...the script works fine on my local machine, but every time I run it in Azure (remotely), I get errors. Here is what my simple script looks like...

    $docLibrary = $web.Lists[$docLibraryName]
    write-host "docLibrary:" $docLibrary
    $files = ([System.IO.DirectoryInfo] (Get-Item $localFolderPath)).GetFiles()
    write-host "files:" $files
    If ($contentType = "ContenttType1")

    #remove file extension

Again, I can run this on my local machine and it works just fine, but when I attempt to run it on the Azure environment I get this error...
Get-Item : Cannot find path 'C:\powershellscripts\12653_B7045.PDF' because it does not exist.

What strikes me first is the fact that the file its looking for is in the "C:\Upload\Test Upload\My Documents\" directory, but the error keeps saying "C:\powershellscripts\" which is where my script resides and not the files I want to
upload into SharePoint. When I step through the code, all the variables are holding the correct values. The $localFolderPath shows the name of files that I am attempting to upload, so it recognizes them. But once I step through this particular line of code,
    the error occurs...
    $files = ([System.IO.DirectoryInfo] (Get-Item $localFolderPath)).GetFiles()
Is this an error caused because I am remoting into the Azure environment? Has anyone dealt with this issue before? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks
Update: quick thing I noticed is that these two lines of code are returning null values. Again, is this handled differently in Azure or remotely? I ask cause this is the way I know how to do this, locally.
    $docLibrary = $web.Lists[$docLibraryName]
    $files = ([System.IO.DirectoryInfo] (Get-Item $localFolderPath)).GetFiles()

"...square brackets are wildcard characters in Windows PowerShell..."
When you use cd without a parameter it uses the -Path parameter. In this case you'll have to escape the square brackets so they are not considered wildcards. Each of the commands in the first example does the exact same thing.
    cd 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd -Path 'Learn PowerShell `[Do Whatever`]'
cd (or Set-Location) also has a literal path parameter (-LiteralPath) that does not require using an escape character (`) before each of the brackets. Hope this helps.
cd -LiteralPath 'Learn PowerShell [Do Whatever]'

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
