Revenue from Sales Order to Project / WBS

Hi,
I created a sales order and account assigned to a WBS. Sales order was created lets say on 01-Jan-08 and my sales order value is 1000 GBP. my exchange rate at that time is lets say 1 GBP = 1.5 USD. So my revenue to WBS is 1500 USD. Normally the project runs for multiple year. For year 2009 lets say the exchange rate is 1 GBP = 2 USD.
Is there any way in SAP wher in i can revalute the revenue to project from sales order based on latest rate and reflect it as 2000USD?
i did try changing the "Pricing Date", "Billing Date" etc in the sales order to see whether the revenue is getting re-valuated, but was not successful.

I am okay with the actual revenue. The issue is with respect to my planned revenue. As i mentioned before sales order will be linked to the WBS at one point of time and the project can run for multiple years. So the planned revenue is getting calculated based on the "exchange rate" at the time of sales order creation. But down the line, lets say after two years we may have a entirely different exchange rate and at that point in my CO area currency the value can be different if i can re-valuate my initial SO value. the impact of this is in my revenue recognition during RA.
So is there any way in SAP where in i can make the system to re-calculate revenue based on latest / current exchange rate.

  • No revenue update from sales order

    Hi
    I have created SO with account assignment for a WBS billing element. In config I have make the indicator on for revenue value should automatically  update from sales order.
    But neither the revenue from sales order is updating in any of my PS report nor the actual revenue too after billing cycle.
    Does it need some more customisation checking.Cannot find any solution from earlier similar threads.

    To analyze the error, proceed as follows:
    1. Is an account displayed in the sales and distribution document in the condition detail screen (for example, condition PR00) ? Is there a cost element in this account and are you allowed to post sales revenue to it? (cost element category) If the answer is yes, then proceed to 5. If no, then proceed to 2.
    2. Check the relevancy for billing of the sales and distribution document item in Customizing (-> Sales and distribution -> Sales -> Sales documents -> Sales document item -> Define item types).  If 'Not relevant for billing' is entered, correct this.  This will probably clear the error. If 'I' (according to billing plan) is entered, the system only updates sales revenues if billing plan dates exist in the sales document.
    3. Check in Customizing that a billing type is assigned to your sales document type (-> Sales and distribution -> Sales -> Sales documents -> Sales document header -> Define sales document types). The billing type can be found in the 'Billing document' block. The relevant billing type depends on the defined relevancy for billing (see point 2). If no billing type is entered, enter one.  This will probably clear the error.
    4. Check in Customizing that an account determination procedure is assigned to the billing type determined in step 3 (-> Sales and distribution -> Billing -> Billing documents -> Define billing types). If no account determination procedure is entered, enter one. This will probably clear the error. If an account determination procedure has already been assigned, the error is probably caused by an incorrect structure of this plan. Check the plan.
    5. You will probably not be able to correct this error yourself. However, you can provide some information beforehand. Enter parameter MCL in your user master record and valuate it with 'X' (upper case) (-> System -> User profile -> User parameters). You activate an user-specific TRACE function this way.
    6. Change, for example, the pricing date or item value in the quotation or sales order and save the change.
    7. Execute Transaction MC30 for your user ID (/NMC30). You now see a list of all data structures that were set up for the Logistics Information System (LIS) in step 6. Check whether structure S008 is contained in this list. This information is required to further analyze the error.
    8. If structure S008 is contained in the MC30 log, call Transaction SA38, program name RKPSSHOW, -> Execute (F8), enter the number of the affected sales and distribution document and press -> Execute (F8) again. The output list (or the fact that no list is generated) is also needed for analysing the error further.

  • Project Revenue Plan Not Update from Sales Order Item

    I am generating a network and project from the sales order item using Assembly processing. I am using milestone billing on the sales order item and the milestones attached to the project network activities are appearing as billing blocks on the sales order item billing plan. However, the project revenue is not getting updated from the sales order billing plan. Can someone please help?
    I have deleted the billing plan on the billing WBS element and activated revenue planning update from sales order in cusomization for PS. I am looking at CNS41 under the project revenue sched in version 0. Is there a different report I should be looking at?

    HI Venkat,
    You are looking at the correct report & I believe you have also done the necessary customization. If you create a sales order and reference it to a quotation, the related plan values in the WBS element are refreshed automatically.
    When the payment data is recorded, the terms of payment and the customer payment history are taken into consideration. One of the probable causes could be the credit limit of the customer might have been exceeded. Take help of your SD consultant & increase the credit limit for that customer (from the sales document), t-code FD32 if it is permitted in the business.
    After the new credit limit is set execute the following steps:
    u2022     Go to the t-code Change billing request (VA02)
    u2022     Open the required billing request
    u2022     Remove the account assignment of WBS element from each line item
    u2022     Save the billing request
    u2022     Reopen the billing request in change mode
    u2022     Reassign the WBS elements to all line items
    u2022     Now the changed credit limit will take affect
    u2022     Check the Planned Revenue for the said project in CNS41, it should get updated.

    Check account assignement categories in SD for PR creation and See if you can make PR to be created with WBS as account assignement like we do in OPTT.

    Have you made the account assignment as WBS Element in the SO line item. Ift his is done, once you create an invoice from SO the actual revenue will get updated in WBS Element.

    Transaction Flow
    As per prerequisite we need to create following:
    1-       Standard WBS
    2-       Standard Network
    3-       Material
    4-       Link between the Network, Material and Standard WBS;o
    5-       Create Sales Order
    Create Standard WBS
    TCode : CJ91
    Path:  Choose Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Standard WBS® Create
    After entering the data press enter.
    Now select   icon to display the WBS element.
    You can add / delete the WBS element here.
    Remember that For All WBS Element, Operative indicator Account Assigned & Planning Element should be ticked.  Billing element should be ticked for the WBS element that will be assigned in the allocation of material to Std. Network
    Click on   icon to go back to the header.
    Here release the WBS elements.
    Make sure to release the WBS elements. (Remember without Release Status system will not allow to post any actual cost to new created project)
    Create Standard Network
    TCode: CN01 
    Path: Choose Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Standard networkà Create
    Select the   icon to copy from Template.
    Now enter standard Network (Which one you want to copy).
    Here you will link WBS to Network.( it is very important to create a new operative project from sale order ) Then press Enter
    Select the     for choose activities:
    You can create activity here as per requirement.
    You can maintain the relationship among the activities. Now Press the Total Tab :
    Now here you can decide that under which WBS element activity will assigned .
    Save the network
    Create Material
    TCode: MM01
    Path: Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Material master or Logistics ® Material management ® Material master and then Material and create (special or general)
    Create material with using already exist material
    Maintain the necessary setting in Material Master. (It is necessary for Assembly processing).
    Select Sales ORG 1
    Press the conditions :
    The amount which enters here will be the sale value of material. During creation of sale order system take the sale order value from here.
    Select the relevant Item Category Group.
    Maintain Strategy in MRP3 View and save then Exit.
    Assignment of Material to Network:
    TCode: CN08
    Path: Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Network parameters from sales order ® Edit.
    Click the   icon to enter new line.
    Here we will link material to Standard Network & Standard WBS. 
    Assembly Processing
    Create Sales Order:
    TC: VA01/VA41
    Path: SAP Menu àLogistic àSales and DistributionàSalesàOrderàCreate
    Select the Order Type / Sale organization and Distribution Channel
    Enter
    Enter the Required field like Ship to party, PO No. , Required Delivery Date, Material No. and Quantity .Then Press Enter.
    Save the Sales Order and note down the Sale Order Number.
    Sales order number will use the project number
    Check in Project Builder.( CJ20N)
    Now we can see that System has created new operative project in background.
    And it has assigned activities to WBS accordingly.

  • Automatcally create Project from Sales Order

    We are on SAP R/3 4.7. We are currently using Project system for customer projects. We are manually linking the WBS element to the sales order item.
    We are considering to automatically creating project from sale order.
    Can someone offer any suggestions or recommendations?
    If you have already done in the past, did you encounter any issues or concerns that need to be considered?

    Hi,
    As per standard configuration:
    1.) Maintain requirement class in OVZG as 80
    2) Maintain Requirement type in OVZH as KP and assign 80 there
    3) Strategy in SPRO->Project System->material->Strategy and maintain requirment class and requirement type and account assignment there.
    4).Then maintain strategy in strategy group...it would be same as 85.
    5). Then you can maintain item category from SD side and item category group from MM and assign these item categories to SD document type .
    6). Now create standard templates(Project and network activities and make assignment to standard project)
    7). Create configurable material(Variant configurator) in MM01 as KMAT and maintain item category group as same defined above and maintain strategy group in MRP tab same as defined above.
    8). Now assign these Variant configurator to standard network and projects in CN08.
    Look into these setting would definately help you.

  • Copy partner function from sales order to WBS element

    Hello
    Does someone know if it is possible to copy the partner function and its assignment from the sales order to the WBS element?
    In our project, we create sales order with article having a strategy group (85) view MRP3. Thanks to that a network and a WBS element is created in background based on template. In the template a partner determination procedure is maintained => partner tab in the WBS element is displayed (CJ20N) but the partners maintained in the sales order are not populated.
    Is something missing in the customizing?
    Is it possible to do it in standard?

    Hello Tison.
    I guess you have the Project created with a BAPI in your system in background. As far as I have seen I'd try the following in ABAP to create Partners in the Project Definition: BAPI_BUS2001_PARTNER_CREATE_M or the corresponding method ProjectDefinitionPI.PartnerCreateMultiple. This should happen in background when the Project is created also.

    hi..
    can someone guide me how to automatically generate PS Projects from SO USING TCODE HBS0?
    i have been able to generate projects automatically when i use tcode VA41 but my need is to do this for RE using sales browser and creation of Sales Order is by Tcode HBS0.
    when i save the sales order, no project is created. ( Note: Material i used is same one i used successfully in VA41+)

    Creation of project from sales order in SAP Project system is described as assembly processing.
    In the Project System only networks can be generated directly from a sales document during assembly processing. Indirectly the system can also generate work breakdown structures, when it creates the network.
    1.You start assembly processing by creating a sales document for a material. This sales
       document can be inquiry,quotation, sales order.
    2. The system then
        Configures the material, if necessary
        Creates a network using the standard network as a template
        Configures the network, if necessary
        Schedules the network backwards from the required delivery date
        Checks material availability
        Costs the network and transfers these costs to the sales document.
    3. When you save the sales document, the system saves the network together with the sales
        document. If applicable, it also generates a project definition and work breakdown structure.
        The project number is derived from the sales document number.

  • Copying WBS element (a/c assignment ) from sales order  to Service order

    HI Controllers,
    I got one requirement it is , we need to copy the account assignment (WBS element ) from sales order line item to service order line item . Morever same  wbs element shud be used to create automatic settlement rule in service order.
    This should also work even if user changes the WBS element later. i.e, updated WBS element should again update service order and settlement rule automatically.

    You can use Exit MV45AFZB in order to copy the account assignment objects... Use the Form  USEREXIT_MOVE_FIELD_TO_COBL with in MV45AFZB
    You can use the same exit to update your settlement rule as well

  • RRB- Quantity from Project and rate from sales order

    Hi All,
    I got scenerio in my project where project is having resource related billing. Now ap per the client requirement, we have a sals order and projects. All prjects are software projects. Now my requirement is client is looking for a system there billing can be done at projet and resource level. which means if project is having 50 confirmed hours. In - dp91 one debit memo requiet should be created with 50 hours and rate should come sales order.
    Means if on a project 50 hours has been confirmes than in debit memo  request 50 hours should come from the prject and rate to be billed should come from sales order.
    Kindly suggest.

    Thanks a lot for giving guidance. As per conversation above i can feel that we can overwrite the rates from project to condition records in SD. Is there any specific condition type made for RRB as my SD consultant never worked on RRB scnerios. Again reconfirming, in my current system at the time of debit memo request sytsem is taking all cost from project for billing but i want that system should take the confirm actual hours from proect and rates to bill them from SD.

    Currently we are in process of implementation of project related to Club Service for one of the client.
    Concept of this project is - there is "X" company engaged in supporting the different shared services for their client e.g. Client IBM - Shared Support Services of IBM is

    u2022     Software Installation
    u2022     Help Desk
    u2022     Maintenance
    Co.. "X' is performing these services for IBM.    So for Co. "X" - IBM is one engagement. Like this way Co. X is performing such activities for many companies e.g. microsoft, HP, ABN AMRO etc.
    Objective - Get the consolidate report from COPA (Customer wise/services wise/sales order wise e.g. IBM/HelpDesk/10002/10).
    We propose a solution to create a project for each engagement and with WBS element. Each WBS element of different services e.g.
    Project IBM Inc.  100.100
    WBS Element    100.100.IDM 
    WBS Element    100.100.SoftIns
    WBS Element    100.100.HelpDesk
    WBS Element    100.100.Maintainance
    For this engagement (IBM), we are creating a sales order with line items (for services) and account assignment is WBS element.  In a sales order, there may be two lines for one services.   In a particular period, there are many such sales orders for this engagement... Milestone billing/period billing is used depending upon the services rendered.
    Now Cost Object will be WBS Element. So cost and revenue will posted to WBS and from this it goes to COPA.  In a month of May 2009 two - sales order is booked with three different line items with account assignment is WBS element.

    1.There is only one line for WBS element ex. 100.100.IDM with revenue 4000 (combing both the sales order)
    2.There is only one line for WBS element ex. 100.100.HelpDesk with revenue 6000 (combing both the sales order)
    3.There is only one line for WBS element ex. 100.100.Maintainance with revenue 4000
    In above case 1 & 2 we will not have reference of sales order and sales order line item in COPA table. There is only one line for this.  So we can not have reporting to sales order level.
    Is there any way by this the reference of sales order and sales order line will come in COPA for case 1 & 2.
    Please help in this issue.

    Hi,
    For these case (multiple materials with different characteristics); have you consider going to next level of WBS Elements. Meaning; lets say currently you are assigning WBS "Engineering (which is a level 2 WBS)" to all the items in SO. Instead under "Engineering" create 2 or 3 level 3 WBS Elements as E1, E2 etc and assign them 1:1 to your sales order line items. This would eliminate the exit as welll as complex development option. And also will let you get all the data in COPA and in turn you can pull to BW as well for reporting. Just a thought.

  • Sales order assignment to WBS element

    Can somebody tell me Where a Sales order is assigned to a WBS element?
    I am aware that it is assigned to WBS element Field in Item details>>Account assignment Tab. But in this tab page on Sales Order screen, I am not able to see WBS Element field. I am able to see the WBS element field for FERT items but not for DIEN.
    Can somebody tell me where exactly is this done so that I get the WBS element field populated in SO?

    Hope the following will fulfill u r requirement
    1) What is WBS element?
    2) What is the Tcode to get to that screen?
    3) What is the need and pupose of WBS element?
    4) Do we happen to work on Functional module during our implementaion project? 5) In what scenario/situation we will be working on WBS?
    WBS is nothing but Work Breakdown Structure. It is mainly used in Project System (PS) module. Tcode : CJ20N
    For any project defined we must have atleast one WBS. Within this WBS we can have networks. Networks are nothing but the series of activities. Material are used to perform the activities.
    To explain in detail just consider one example:
    Govt of india wants to have Roads to be build through out the india. So Project can be defined in sap as “Connectivity”.
    WBS can be roads within different states like Roads for Gujarat, Karnataka etc.. i.e. WBS Gujarat, WBS Karnataka etc.
    We can define different networks for these WBS like Road Between Ahmedabad to Surat or Between Bangalore to Belgham.
    For this network we can have many activities like Land selection, Land Preparation, Road Building, Final finishing etc etc.
    Hemal’s example was a good example. Project Systems comes into play only when the industry’s business is based on projects like… Construction companies, Engineer to Order scenarios. You may not see anyone using PS module for retail business. As Hemal explained in that example, you have a main project which is broken down into WBS elements. You can use the TC CJ20N to create the project and the WBS elements. Each WBS may have mutiple Networks associated and each Network may have multiple Network Activities as explained in the example by Hemal.
    On the Sales Order, if your client is implementing PS module, you may have to attach the Sales Order to the WBS element it belongs to. WBS element is nothing but a bucket where all the activities belonging to that particular part of the project are captured. In the example, WBS Gujurat will tell you how many Sales Orders were created for the Gujurat sector, howmuch was spent on raw materials, what’s the currect stock ([roject stock) available. How many Production Orders have been confirmed and howmany of them are getting confrmed in the future. How many invoices have been generated or how much revenue has been generated for that particular sector. How many deliveries have been made, what deliverables are still not accomplished.
    So as you can see, PS is the center stage for all the modules that are being implemented like FI/CO, SD, MM, PP in this example. You can have cost centers and work centers defined. You can also have profit centers assigned at the plant level and get reports on varius selection criteria.
    In a complete cycle of PS, like in reality, you initiate a project, you confirm/release the WBS/activities as per requirement, you execute the project and you close it.
    One cannot initiate an activity unless it has been released by the project manager. Everything is accountable here and every dime is counted and at the end you know howmuch did you spend or make on each sector (WBS). Dont get confused with the term sector here… I am using it just for the explaination purposes.
    In one typical example, the company I was working with until not too long ago, had Deliveries from the Project (TC: CNS0). We never used VL01N. We used CNS0 to create a delivery and then used VL02N for confirming the picking quantity for the already created delivery document.
    I hope this should help you at least a bit. I’m not a PS consultant so I may not know a whole lot but trying going to CJ20N and you will see a lot yourself.
    PS concultants are one of the highest paid consultants. Their supply is less and so is the demand. They are expected to understand real world business processes very well and they are generally the center stage of a project.
