Reverb/delay as send effects....put on a aux or bus?

hi, i want to make a template...so i have various effects ready to use on inividual tracks, via send knob.
would i put the effect on an aux object or a bus object?
ive noticed we can create aux channels in the mixer, but alos bus channels in the environment.
how have you guys/girls set up your send effects? ive always put effects as inserts on individual tracks, but ive seen way too many people use reverb and delay as send....just seems quicker and easier to try things out.....and other benfits, ive read.
have you guys/girls set up any other effects apart from reverb and delay as send effects?
thanks.

Since version 8 Logic automatically assigns Busses to Auxes unless you have created some Busses in the environment beforehand.
So in one of my main templates for electronic music and soundscapes I have 4 Busses in my Mixer which I need for Bus recording and other stuff, these are not assigned to Auxes. My effect Busses start with Bus5/Aux1 and I have some Space designers in there, Reaktor 5 effects like graindelays, Lurkers (sequenced delays) and other combined FX Plugs, Auto Filter, Stereo Chorus, Supa Phaser, Ringmodulator.
So for trying things out you simply open the corresponding send, if you later decide to have the Aux effect directly on an Instrument/Audio track you can simply copy it over with commandaltdrag.
I find Aux tracks better because I can send the signal to other Auxes for creating even more complex FX chains, Busses don't have sends so they can't be used like that.

  • How to put a delay between Sender Adapter processing ?

    Hi,
I'm using FTP type and I schedule the sender each 1hour. In that time, plenty of file has been added into the source folder.
The files are like this <file_name_###>.txt where the ### are a incremental number. PI can takes all of them in order thanks to this patern : <file_nme>*.txt, but when processing it takes all the file in one time.
I would like to put a delay between each file. Is it possible ?
    Kind regards
    Joseph BERTHE

    Hi Joseph,
I need it because the receiver is a RFC adapter so I call a BAPI. But I want a unique call. So When the first file is eaten by PI it executes the BAPI, but during that time no one can execute that same BAPI. So I want to put a delay between each file.
    > Delay between Sender Adpter Processing will not be possible .
But you can make the Interface work in EOIO fashion . by that your inputs will be processed one after the other .
Make the parameter "Quality of Service"- Exactly Once in order at your sender adapter level for this.
EOIO (Exactly Once In Order): Here Messages are delivered with the same queue name as in the same sequence that they were sent from the sender system. Message processing will be asynchronous in this case.

  • Sending vocal tracks to an Aux channel with reverb

Sorry for this question that may have been answered somewhere else.
I'm trying to add a single reverb plug-in to 6 vocal tracks. I've bussed all 6 to an Aux channel via bus 1, setting the input of the Aux channel to bus 1. No sound. I can't seem to find the correct routing. Anyone know the answer to this simple task. I'm coming from ProTools where I had no problem with this.
    Thanks.

Are you actually sending some of each of the six tracks to the bus?
(little knobs next to the bus assignment under "sends")
Do you have the Aux or any of the 6 tracks muted?
DO you have the master muted?

  • Long delay when sending non-btinternet mail

We are using Outlook Express/Windows mail client, and there is a long long delay when sending mail.
It just hangs saying "Connecting..." in the status bar. Receiving email has no problems.
Eventually it sometimes works or sometimes just times out.
The smtp server is not btinternet/yahoo but our own email server, which we have been using for 10 years. There is no problem pinging the smtp server. e.g. smtp.ourserver.net
It works without delays on other (non BT) home/business networks.
We have tried plugging other laptops into this home network and trying to send email (to the same mail server) - same problem.
It therefore seems to be peculiar to a BT Hub or BT as the ISP.
The problem seems to have first appeared when an upgrade was made to cater for future fibre optic services.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Today I started from my Firewire-device with 10.4.11 and had ichat running from there. I chatted with my friend, who is on 10.5.1 - no problems at all. (so my router is not causing the problem, as I thought)
Starting from 10.5.1 again I opened up Activity Monitor and found this message every 10 secs !

I remember that I installed Little snitch some time ago and removed it manually. Then today I run the official uninstaller for it. Still I cannot get rid of this activity. May be it has to do something with the text delay in ichat? How to delete all Little Snitch processes? How can someone find these data?

  • Does anyone know if one can set a delay in sending mails?

Does anyone know if there is a possibility to set a delay on sending emails, using Mail 5.0 in Lion?  Often I write emails and send them too quickly...

    Hello:
    To my knowledge, no.
Mail 5.0 automatically saves a draft a few seconds after you begin to compose the document.  You could just quit Mail (also saves draft automatically).

Is there any way I can delay the sending of email, eg to be sent at a later date? Thanks Ellis

you can save an email as a draft. then at a later day you can go to the drafts mailbox and send it. if you want to schedule an email to be sent automatically at a later date use Mail Scripts

  • Run OS command to delay FTP sender on UNIX?

    Dear experts,
    I have a scenario FTP -> PI -> FTP.
I get about 30 files in at 1pm and the FTP sender adapter channel picks them all at once. But I need a minute in between each file, so the sender adapter picks files one by one every minute and not all of them at once.
I have been following the following thread:
    http://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2037561
and there is the Windows command mentioned:
    choice /C:a /D:a /T:2>nul
Our PI system runs on AIX though and I am not so familiar with OS commands
on UNIX. Does anyone know the equivalent command for to run on UNIX?
Thank you for any help with this,
    Peter

    Hello,
I found the command for UNIX (AIX), it is called:
    sleep
    so putting in
    sleep 30
into "Run Operating System Command After Message Processing" makes the FTP sender adapter pick files every 30 seconds, no matter how many are waiting in the FTP folder.
I hope this is going to be useful to others as well.
    Best regards,
    Peter

  • PR Workflow delay in sending a notification to SAP inbox of approver

    Hi All,
We are experiencing a problem in PROD regarding the time delay of workflow in sending the PR to the approver in his SAP inbox.
The current set-up is expected to be operating in runtime. However, we experience delays in the notification.
In runtime graphics, the workflow stays in the background activity. The workflow is expected to just swiftly run the background activity and move to the next activity.
May I know the steps on solving this error?
    Thanks in advance.

  • My Ironport C170 delay to send the email to some domain

I found the problem at my IronPort C170, It always cannot sent email to some domain and show message detail code 4.4.0 or 4.4.2, then put in the queue. But I try to set to use as relay to another SMTP server, it can send mail very smoothly. Do you have any ideas that I misconfigure?
    Thank you

Hi Billy, if you move mouse cursor over the number of spam messages on page Monitor>Spam quarantine, what URL address you see?
    Something like https://www.domain.com:83/Search?auth=13900f1d2a029b017464c596a88bb7a8?
Can you resove "www.domain.com" to correct IP address of your ESA server?
Are Spam Quarantine>Spam Quarantine HTTP & Spam Quarantine HTTPS enabled at Network>IP Interfaces>Interface page? Do interface's IP address & spam quarantine ports match to URL address (does www.domain.com resolve to this IP address) at Monitor>Spam quarantine?
Is there any firewall blocking this connection?

  • Delay between sending messages

Hi, I sometimes need to send 500+ individual emails and just about every time I end up with errors messages, saying "too many messages", "mail server not responding" etc and reading my ISP's FAQ they recommend sending an email a
minute when sending large volumes (500+ is certainly not a large volume, but..), so I've been looking for any rules or plug-ins etc that would enable me to run a email merge, generate 500+ unique emails and then send a message a minute, so with 600
messages it would take 10 hours to send them all. I am using Outlook 2010 (pop3). Thanks

    Hi,
There is no feature in Outlook to schedule sending a message per a minute for lots of messages. We can only schedule sending time for individual messages by using Delay Delivery option in Outlook:
For your cases, please find any third party tools to achieve it. Or we can contact Microsoft Outlook Develoment forum for more suggestions:

  • Long delay between send button and actual send in mail

When sending messages in mail, there is a long delay between the time I hit the send button and the actual sending begins.  Message and attachment size have no bearing.  The delay is usually about 30 seconds, but sometimes longer.

There was info in the detail window when I opened it.  Also, it was not immediately connecting to the server, but when I clicked back on the regular mail window to send a test message, the server connected instantly.  Below is all that was in the details window:

  • Long delay when sending normal text message

Whenever I send a standard message, there is always a long delay (8 secs) before it sends. I know it is not aol because it is all the time. I am running 10.5.1 on my macbook with iChat 4. I have tried reinstalling ichat including removing all pref files. Still no luck. Any help would be great! Thanks.

    25.12.07 25.12. 15:18:29 com.apple.launchd[138] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent[654]) Exited with exit code: 1
    25.12.07 25.12. 15:18:29 com.apple.launchd[138] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
    25.12.07 25.12. 15:18:39 com.apple.launchd[138] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent[655]) posix_spawnp("/Library/Little Snitch/Little Snitch UIAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/Little Snitch UIAgent", ...): No such file or directory
I remember that I installed Little snitch some time ago and removed it manually. Then today I run the official uninstaller for it. Still I cannot get rid of this activity. May be it has to do something with the text delay in ichat? How to delete all Little Snitch processes? How can someone find these data?
    Thanks for Feedback

  • IMessage: intermittent delay in sending

I sent a message at 8:55 pm to a friend using iMessage saying that I would be arriving at his house in about 15 minutes. I watched the SMS go - no alert of any kind that it had been delayed. When I arrived at his house, he still had not received the message. We checked phones and while doing this, my message arrived on his phone at 9:09 (i.e. 14 minute delay). I then checked my phone, and it said the message had been sent at 9:07 or 2 minutes before he received it. This clearly wasn't the case. Other times it has been fine.  But this strikes me as a serious situation because 1) the data the phone shows about sending and receiving times is inaccurate and incorrect,(and texts can be used as legal evidence),  2) the intermittent nature of this situation makes it highly unreliable, so gives me little faith in the operating system if such a fundamental function as texting works only intermittenly and 3) there has been no official response to this from Apple, although numerous people have identified the problem over the past months.
Any suggestions? For the mean time, I've tuned iMessage off.

    Thanks for replying.
My friend's phone was definitely online, as we had pre-arranged that I would message before I left to say I was on my way, This is also not the first time this has happened, so I'm pretty sure there was not an offline cause.
I have changed my Caller ID to my Apple ID rather than my phone number, as you suggested, so I will see whether this fixes the problem. Because it is intermittent, it will take a while to check. For interest, why would my Apple ID work better than my mobile number?
    Thanks.

  • Reverb / compression/ ?? 'effect'

Hi, I've been trying to create a particular sound but so far without success, so any tips would be gratefully received !
I'm using Ivory plug-in solo piano and am aiming for
    1) a soft, very clear piano sound
    2) the feeling that the piano is right in front of the listener- not far away on a concert stage
    3) a dreaminess-sense of otherworldliness - to the overall sound (which I thought a reverb of say, 4 secs would suggest- but it blurs the sound too much)
    4) NO glittering, metallic hard tones
I started with a clean Ivory sound (no reverb), added a very clear reverb (VSL Convolution Reverb) and then routed this to another bus where I have tried out SD reverbs of about 3-4 secs.
But the result wasn't what I want.
I added compression, but the piano sounded stunted.
Would love to hear any ideas from you ................ Kay.

May I ask exactly which settings/controls you mean by 'dynamics' ? - which can be used in quite a wide sense.
There is literally a knob in the Ivory plug in interface called 'dynamic range', or at least there used to be. I had an older version of Ivory at the studio but don't have it on my laptop. Find that knob and turn it down. Then turn the 'timbre' knob down low too, and the 'gain' as well, quite low. Then boost the 'key noise' quite high, and make sure the sustain resonance sample set is also activated (the soundboard) - try a few different ones and boost the level of it too, until you get as much of an exaggerated soundboard sound as you like. Also make sure the release and soft pedal samples are on too. Set the 'stereo perspective' setting to 'performer' as opposed to 'audience'. You can also try narrowing the stereo width a little too, I find it's better less wide when you are using the piano in a mix, or more wide if your piece is piano only. All of these settings will exaggerate the 'intimate' sound of closer miking, because (especially with judicious amounts of key noise and resonance) you get to hear all of the wood and mechanics of the piano like you would when you're up close and personal, as opposed to just the strident piano tones of a grand piano coming through. IMO, Ivory is the best of all the piano plug ins for this particular kind of intimate sound, precisely because of these key noise and resonance samples. Also, but making the timbre quite dark, the gain quite low and the dynamic range low, you can easily play a very soft performance with that intimate sound, without having sudden too loud, too bright notes cutting through and ruining the mood. If the sound is too woolly like this, correct for it with some quality EQ (or try the treble setting in Ivory itself). I find that a Pultec EQ with some bright air (8k or 10k) can really work, but be careful because it can also reveal some warbling artefacts in the Ivory samples which is a bit of an unfortunate fault of this plug in.
I have some music I've written with these kinds of settings in Ivory, I can send you an mp3 if you want to hear it and see if it's the kind of sound you're looking for, let me know.
