Reverb without dry signal?

I'm using Logic 8.0.2. on OSX 10.4.11. I've set up a "reverb send" by creating a bus send from the inputs to an aux. I've put the Space Designer plug in on my Aux, which is receiving the bus send. I've turned the "dry" setting on Space Designer to "0".
What I'm finding is that the dry signal that I'm sending to the Aux is still getting through, which affects my mix, "doubling" the power of the dry signals that I send to the Aux. I want only reverb from the aux, and no original input signal, like I would get from using a send on a console to a reverb unit.
Here's how I checked to find that there was dry signal getting through:
I set up my bus send, went to the aux that was created and put in a Space Designer instance. Space Designer dry was set to 0. I sent a track signal to the aux with a send. I'm now hearing reverb on the signal. I turn the reverb level on Space Designer to 0, and I'm still hearing dry signal through the aux.
I want just the wet signal, no dry signal. How do I do that?

Dang!! I found it!!! I went into the environment, found the buses that I was using for reverb sends, and set their outputs to "no output." They defaulted to going out the mix buses, so even when I had every channel muted in the mixer, and did a pre-fader send to reverb, I was still getting dry signal.
So, if you don't want to "double" the power of any instrument you send out a buss to some group effect, go to the environment and turn off the outputs of that bus or those buses to your 2-mix. You'll still get signal through your aux channel strip and through whatever effects you have there.
Oh, this will make my life so much easier. Life is good.

I use an apogee duet as I/O interface, the input channels all ok but I get only a dry signal back to the monitors. What I have to do for right routing the wet signals to my monitor? Duet is input and output (speaker) in the mac system and Logic Pro X, core audio is active.

I Assume you mean when you are recording. You have to turn software monitoring on in the audio preferences or you can right click in the transport bar and check off thr box on the right hand side that says software monitoring. That will give you reverb or whatever on the recording channel for listening but it wont print the effect. It is just for listening

"No service 3G" displayed without any signal level displayed

I just upgraded to IOS 6 and after re-entering my APN info and restarting my iPad 2 my iPad 2 tried searching for a carrier the displayed:
"No Service 3G"without any signal level displayed.
The Carrier shows correctly in Settings-Carrier and my iPad 2 seems to be fully operational. Data flow (web browsing/e-mail/etc) on the 3G and Wi-Fi networks are good.
How do I get the carrier and signal level to display correctly?

That's kind of what i was wondering i live in Apartment Building as well top floor We have a Tower 2 miles to the North a Tower 1 mile or less to our South and 1 that's close to 2 miles to our West and is on Another apartment building and the Signal i'm getting is 3 to 4 bars and the 4G the bars indicate CDMA signal only why as the 4G is your Data.. Our apartment is maid out of Brick with Metal Windows the Roof is a Normal flat Roof with a High Grade Roof shingle..
You might Check and see what is in the Building Materials in your Apartment and if you Live in the bottom part of it that might Hamper the Signal somewhat..

Audio interfaces leak dry signal

I have 2 different USB audio interfaces (Tascam US 144 and a Presonus AudioBox) that leak a dry signal. This isn't exactly Logic related but I was hoping someone hear could point me the right direction.
Why would a Line in signal from my interface pass thru to my monitors when I don't have input monitoring enabled? Its a dry signal that is present, even when Logic isn't launched. Its as if I was using a built in input.
The AudioBox has always done this and now the Tascam.

You are direct monitoring in the interface - this is a feature.
If you don't want this, consult your manual to find out how to turn it off. Sometimes this is turning off a switch (turn off direct monitoring) or sometimes you have to use the mixer and deassign the inputs from passing to the interface outputs.

[SOLVED] Disabling "dry" signal (ALSA or JACK)

I'm using VirtualBox to run FL Studio in a virtual Windows box. The problem (ok, not so much of a problem, but an annoyance) is, that I can't seem to find a way to disable the "dry" microphone signal. Probably you don't understand what I mean, so I'll give an example: when using a vocoder type effect, you can still hear the original, unaltered voice "under" the übercool Kraftwerk robot voice, and that is just lame. Still trying to make it clearer: what I'm trying to achieve is the microphone not going straight to the speakers. So, are there any Linux audio gurus out there who can help me?
P.S. Yes, it's a Linux problem, not Windows or VirtualBox one, since I can hear the voice even when VB isn't running.

6602 Synchronize ALL 8 outputs without external signal?

Howdee all..
I have an application that's actually pretty simple. I need to generate pulse trains on all 8 counters of a 6602, and they need to be triggered together via a software trigger (Frequency will be the same, but their delay/Phase and DC may be different channel to channel).
What's the best way to do this?
Can I set them all up under the same task and then call "Start"?
What about using the output of one counter to trigger the others? That output MUST be available as an output signal though. But I can set things up so that it's initial swing is used to start the task.
Does it make sense to physically connect PFI0 to PFI1 and then trigger them off PFI1 using PFI0 as the signal?
Just a reminder, I am using all 8 counters as output.

Right now the code I wrote looks like this (all counters are on the same 6602 card..)...
This appears to work, but I can't be sure that the counters all started together without a scope. So the $64K question is, since they are all on the same card, does the code above start all the pulse trains instantaneously, or will I have to go back and set them up to use a digital trigger (and do that thing with the PFI lines)?

Why doesn't gps work without phone signal

If I am driving through the mountains and lose my phone signal my gps stops as well but a handheld gps keeps working fine.

okay i think i figured this one out
yes it is true that the iphone has a dedicated gps recevier and it is also true that some navigation apps like the standard maps app and the garmin navigator need some kind of connection to fetch the map ..
but the gps recevier is a AGPS receiver, this means it has a standard gps receiver but it also uses the cell towers to assist the gps lock and to speed up the locking process. without some kind of conenction to the tower or a wifi connection, a full gps lock can realistically can take 15 or 20 minutes to get, if you do not know where the satellties are. the gps satellites only broadcast once every like 30 seconds? and with 30 of them it means it can take 15 mintues to get them all
the iphone uses the towers and wifi connection to download information on where the satellites are and then looks for them to speed up the gps locking.
so to the original posters question to why his iphone cannot get a gps lock. well yes you might need a connection to get the map, but if you want to get a lock without a cell phone connection / wifi connection to assist you, you just need to wait 5-15 minutes to get it
and to answer why the standalone gps can keep going could be because some gps units keep 3 or more days of gps coordinates. tomtom calls this feature of obtaining gps corrdinates to speed up gps locking, GPS quick fix.
there are also some chipsets like the sirfstar iii that are known to speed up gps lockng

100% Wet Reverb doesn't seem to work, help?

I have 2 tracks and I want 1 to be 100% wet reverb only. I can't seem to get it working and need some help.

ANYWAY, it is the reverb preset that I was using and NOT the convoluted setup. The 100% wet signal can be heard without the dry afterall.

Reverb issues

I am trying to match up two sets of audio files in a single project. One set (stereo) has a fair amount of "small room" reverb which makes it stand out from the other set of audio files (mono). The quality of speaker's voice is still intelligible but somewhat tinny.
I know that removing reverb is next to impossible even with the best of equipment. My goal is to lessen or bring down the reverb of the small room set to bring it closer to the other set of audio files. What combination of effects would I need to apply to pull this off?
I have tried matching EQ with little to no effect. I have also tried various combinations of EQ, Noise Gate, and a Compressor with some success but it still isn't where I would like it to be.

It sounds like you are aware of the difficulty of the problem and are on the right track.
I think the first thing you should do is sum the stereo track to mono.
That is a great way to cancel out some of the reverb, and then you'll
be starting with mono in both cases.
Small rooms tend to have strong resonances, so if you can sweep a bandboost EQ
to find one or two of the most intense peaks, you can then change the EQ boost
to a cut and reduce the sound in that frequency range. This can help.
The tricky thing in your case is that cutting a typical low reverb frequency
is also cutting out the fullness you might need to get rid of the tininess in the voice.
Expanding (a gentler process than gating) can be added next.
Make sure the attack is fast and try to adjust the threshold and release
to reduce the reverb without destroying the speech. If the track varies
in loudness a lot, this trick might not work at all.
You should definitely add a little reverb to the dry tracks.
Check out the various presets available to you. Sometime reverbs have
small room presets. Try to figure out how close you can get it to the
roomy tracks without making it sound bad.
Room tone can be added at the end. Figure out which set of files has the most
room tone, get a sample of it, and then add it to the other set. If you sample
the roomy track, do so after you've mixed it down to mono.

Regarding the Channel Strip bus send it controls the send level of that channel strip. I do not say Global Input level cause the many hardware mixers has "Master Send & Return" FX faders. It Logic we have these global system faders as well.
1/ The Master FX "Send" is the Bus Level fader.
• In our days we do not use them and the Buses are hidden. You can Assign a Channel Strip in the Logic Environment to the Bus in question ( which feeds your Aux system reverb channel )and control the input level from its level fader.
• You can also insert a Gainer plugin above the Reverb plugin and control the global send level as well.
2/ The Level Fader of the Aux (system reverb)channel works as global FX "Return"

Tracking with reverb

OK, so I am a longtime Cubase user who has made the switch to Logic. So in trying to get around and learn a bit I am struggling to understand how to monitor reverb without tracking it. An obvious use would be when tracking vocals...I need to hear verb but not print it.
Can someone get me headed in right direction?

Setup a send to a Bus/Aux via the send knob from the track you're recording to - insert a reverb Plug to that Bus set to 100% wet - enable the Software Monitoring Button in the Transport window (or use a Keycommand for that) - set the track you're recording to to "No Output" to avoid the phasing issue - done.

New monitor can not detect signal from new referb pc

Monitor is a new flat screen,  model 2310m full HD with  vga, hdmi, and dvi-d connectors and boot up CD which includes pdf manual and video drivers etc..
        PC is a referb Pavilion M9200t first time started since referb with a G-Force GT graphics card (1 gigabite) and dual DVI-D connections. No VGA or HDMI out. OS is vista ultimate that I will probably update to windows 7 if I ever get it set up. Monitor does not get a signal from new PC with DVI-D cable or a VGA cable with an adapter. Monitor works fine with my old XP PC after installing drivers and using the vga cable. New PC has no VGA out, so I bought a VGA to DVI-D adapter thinking that it would have proper drivers for a VGA monitor with no success. I also tried new PC on my old monitor with the DVI-D adapter on the VGA cable and that didn't work either. I can't do a first run setup without a monitor and the monitor won't work without a signal.
       I bought the PC from a friend who decieded to buy a laptop instead and had never started it. He bought it from someone who was selling referbs on E-bay and messed up and accidently started the warranty period or so they say.
        Also when I plug the PC in the fan starts and continues running till I do a hard shutdown, that is holding start button down till the PC shuts off. If I unplug and replug the computer it starts again without pushing start button. Does anyone think it is the graphics card issue or maybe power supply, or just not booting at all?  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.------Thanks in advance.----Larry

            Ok, thats the procedure I was talking about earlier. I did that bios default factory reset just now. First the version 6 and earlier. It didn't work so I tried version 7 and later and that didn't work. I then tried version 6 and earlier again only this time pushed F10 more rapidly and got right in right when I got to the F5 and enter portion. Then I pushed F10 again to save the change and enter again to close. The PC didn't boot up the next screen like the test said it would. So I did it all again and spent some time reading what was on the bios pages but accidently pushed ESC as the bios menu suggested instead of enter to close out   . No boot up screen again. I did another hard shutdown and then unplugged the cord for 5 minutes and this time the PC stayed off when I plugged it back in. The bios are set to default but I cannot get it to start again in safe mode or boot up. So if the power supply is working properly, and the monitor worked in safe mode, then the video card must be good. right?
          So I'm editing from the night before, its Monday morning here in Wi. and I'm sorry to say that after leaving the PC unplugged all night that when I plugged it back in this morning, the dumb thing started again without pushing the  start button.  So the only thing doing a recovery on the bios accomplished was to prove that my the video card can run the monitor in safe mode which is a good thing I guess. Hope someone has an idea as to what else I can try.-------thanks

Verizon iPhone 5 in Brazil - Terrible Signal

I have a Verizon iPhone 5 and I'm in Brazil for my second time with this phone. The signal is TERRIBLE. I don't know if it's a Verizon problem or an iPhone problem, but it's driving me insane. I have a very tough time getting any signal, and even when I have 4 bars and it says 3g, it chugs and can't even send out messages. Here are some facts that I can give based upon other phones:
iPhone 4 on ATT - Works with 3G and gets decent reception and good data speed
iPhone 4S on ATT - Works with 3G, full bars, good speed for data
Blackberry on ATT - Full bars with 3G
Blackberry on Verizon - Multiple bars with 3G, reception is always better than my iphone.
WHAT GIVES? The iphone 5 on verizon is supposed to have the same GSM antennas as the rest of the iphone 5's (ATT, Sprint, etc). This thing is practically useless here and neither Verizon nor Apple want to give me a straight answer. The best answer that they can give me is to go get a local SIM card which I don't want to do for my own reasons. Has anyone had any experience with the Verizon iPhone 5 in Brazil? I'm wondering if it's simply my phone that's broken or if it's actually the Verizon model that won't work. Thanks for any help on this one.

I have a IPHONE 5 64 GB, and came with version 6.0, as updated to 6.1 the 3G signal TIM in Brazil stopped working, same problem reported with VODAFONE. When they started talking about this issue should have updated all versions, not just for the IPHONE 4S. I upgraded my iphone to version 6.1.2 and the problem continues. Can not connect to 3G signal only on EDGE. I have a Blackberry that takes place on the same 3G signal.
APPLE have to solve it as soon as possible. It is impossible to use such a device without 3G signal.
I already restored the network, the device restored, did all the procedures that the telephone company TIM guided me, but they claim it is the fault of APPLE.

Lost signal all evening

Hey I'm in Northern VA and have been without a signal for a while this evening. It's odd since I normally have a pretty great one. Anyone else having this issue?

I don't remember my account password it is under my wife's name. IF you can call the verizon service number. 1800-922-0204 and report the problem they may be able to help. I talked to one of the guys their and he couldn't put a service request out because I don't know the password.
