Reverse and slow motion

I am very new to i movie can one reverse and make a clip go in slow motion in i MOVIE HD?

Hi eyesa -
Beverley has done the 'finding' for you, but actually, she should not have had to.
Rotorius had explained the steps to find the info you needed in iMovie Help.
...I have tried that and found nothing..
Perhaps you did not operate the search function correctly, because by entering the word 'reverse' in the search box, you definitely will get the answer you needed. I wonder if you were maybe using the Search Discussions in this forum, rather than the Help menu in your iMovie project?
I am only posting this to explain that you can use that very useful Help file to answer many of the questions you may have. By all means ask the forum for help when that does not produce an answer.
I know it's all a bit of a puzzle when you start out:-))

  • HVX200 and slow motion

    Hi,
Despite having read several how-to articles, I am still a little unclear on how to make best use of the HVX200's variable rate feature.
What I have done successfully is the slow motion feature that's described here:
    http://www.studiodaily.com/studiomonthly/tutorials/trainup/5993.html
First of all, is that generally considered the correct setup?
If so, what's the best way to handle something that I might want at normal and slow motion? For example, a skating coming towards the ramp should be at a normal frame rate but on the jump, I want to use slow motion. Would I shoot all of it at the faster rate described above, use that directly in the 24p timeline for the slow motion part and convert the rest the clip to 24p? That is what I assume, based on reading this
section of article on the History Channel shoot:
O’Brien added, “The most useful feature of the camera was its ability to shoot 24 or 60 frames for any particular shot. Having 60 frames to use as a slow motion shot in a 24 frame timeline was the closest I've come to the days of 16mm, where you could dial up to 72 frames for slow motion. The 60-fps shots can be easily converted in Final Cut Pro to 24-fps if we decide not to use the shot as slow motion. Knowing this, we were unafraid and shot anything that we might want to be slow motion at 60 frames. This gave us a freedom we would not have had on film, where a slow motion shot would be expensive to convert back to normal.
Just writing this down is making me think more clearly that this is the best path but opinions would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    fh

  • Are bursts and slow motion videos transfered as they are to a PC

I wasn't sure how to ask this question in short. I have an iPhone 5s and a Windows computer. When I take a burst photo, how does it work when I transfer the photos/videos directly to my computer? (not going through iTunes) Do the bursts save as individual pictures or are they lost? or maybe you can only see them on your iPhone? Also with slow motion videos, I know they don't save as slow motion unless you save them again as if that was real life capture. I do believe that they become slow motion again if i put them back on my phone, as the format is probably the same. Is this true?

Premiere Pro just doesn't do slow motion very well, especially not with 24 fps footage.  You can help correct that:

  • LoSpeed ramping and slow motion?

    Hello
I have some dslr and go pro footage shot on different frame rates from 50fps to 120 fps. I want to be able to ramp the speed on the footage. However I keep running into the same problem "Flicker"...
For example I have some dslr footage shot at 50 fps. I can change the fps in, Modify- Interpret footage, to say 25fps form 50fps to get nice slow motion, but then im stuck with that frame rate for the clip.
If I start fresh and use the speed ramp, I get jerky footage when I change the speed.
Is this an after effects task?
I have seen a few good few tutorials but they always separate the two different techniques. What am I doing wrong?.
Best example is all those lovely go pro video with things flying by then gradually going to a slow mo then speeding up again seamlessly without any flicker.
Im not trying to achieve a super slow frame rate like what you might see with twixter, I just want a nice smooth transition from 50fps to 25fps and then back up again.
Any idea or tutorials would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Philip

  • Looking for DVD player that will repeat a segment (loop) and slow motion

I have iDVD and the DVD player in Snow Leopard, but want to be able to play a dvd in step-by-step frame, and also (especially) to loop round smaller segments. I use it for dance video, and need to see dance moves over and over without necessarily playing the whole segment. Is there any software I can buy/install to do this? Like Cyberlink for Mac? Thanks.

I searched for a DVD player with a jog shuttle -- and you're right. They're all but impossible to find! I havent' found one made in the past 5 years!
I don't know of any way you could accomplish the same thing with software either.
Most DVD players have slow-motion and frame-by-frame features. (Even my cheap $40 Toshiba.) That may be the closest to it.

  • Glitch and slow motion

when i play my music, the song starts normal, and then it starts to glitch, skip, and slow down. Anyone know what to do? Help would be amazing because this is very annoying! Thanks!

Ok so I did nothing and now it's working fine....I guess I just needed to wait for it to load a bit.....
I would still appreciate some feedback on how to avoid this issue.
    Thank you.

  • Problem with slow motion reversed clips

    Hi
I've imported clips into iMovie 11 and can apply slow motion through Clip Adjustments. When I try to do both Slow Motion and Reverse all I get is a still clip. I tried both copying an existing Slow Motion clip and tried to reverse it and tried applying Reverse and Slow Motion at the same time to a normal clip without success. I've tried it with and without Stabilization. Any ideas?

You are not alone! But I have not found a way to resolve the problem either! Could it be a fps problem?

  • Imovie shakes on Slow motion and transitions

Hi everyone, hope someone can help me.
I recently went to a wedding and my mum video'd it. As part of the present for the bride and groom I wanted to get a nice song and put snippets of their day into a small video. I have used either cross-disolve or the other one (overwrite or something its called) in between the clips and I have also slowed one of the clips down to make it look like slow motion. On the computer this was fine and then I put it onto DVD and when I played it through the DVD the transitions and slow motion are really jerky as if its shaking. It doesnt do it all the way through, its really just at the beginning of the DVD and then it settles and the last 30 seconds or so are wonderful. Can anyone advise as to what to do?
    Thanking you in advance
    Tracey

  • Slow-Motion and Fast forward

    Hi,
Let me know if you can implement these functions with OSMF.
    Thanks
    Steve

If you use RTMP streaming with FMS you need to check the docs for NetStream.step() method:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/beta/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/NetStrea m.html#step()
Implementing this in OSMF is not trivial. You'll need to get deep into the OSMF NetLoader APIs (there are lots of posts explaining how to create custom NetLoaders in this forum).
You can also emulate fast-forward with seek() calls, and slow-motion with pause() calls This might be somewhat easier to implement and it will work for progressive content too, but the performance might be much worse than using the step() approach.
Let us know how it goes,
    Andrian

  • Slow motion and resolution

Will using slo mo (fcp HD) change image resolution?

I am in charge of creating some segue sequences that are experimental in nature with layers, loops, and slow motion. The director posed the question that it might be a too severely "degraded" image quality compared to the other "talking heads". I just want to know what I'm dealing with when it comes to pushing final cut's filters, traveling mattes, etc to an extreme. < </div>
    We call those Cool Assignments.
It's not easily answered. The absolute image quality is predictable by knowing how many filters or render steps are in your process. But the apparent image quality may be far better, as noted above. "Pushing" FCP's effects system is easy because it's so limited until you go out to third party tools and then you must have a firm grounding in codecs and compression.
You are going to distract form the heads not by offering up a degraded image as far as pixel quality is concerned. "Degraded" in your case, seems to refer to the deconstruction of the image by deliberate manipulation.
Here's another question, if I create a complicated sequence with layers, mattes, slo mo, etc. then export to a quicktime file to compress and then import it into the main timeline, will this ensure a higher quality overall? < </div>
As Brian and Zap are trying to add, "compress" isn't what you want to do. That's whey many of us move to Motion or After Effects for this stuff and then render to a lossless codec.

  • What is the best afordable/free Slow motion plugin for AE CS6?

Howdy! I am new here and I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for. I need a affordable or Free is even better plugin for AE CS6 to do some editing on GoPro footage and some other High fps video. I really want a smooth and minimal blur effect. Doesn't have to be perfect but better than what I got now. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
    Teflon

MOST PEOPLE do not understand frame rates and slow motion. High frame rate compositions do not improve slow motion. Video works the same way that film does. Shoot at a high frame rate and playback every frame on a projector that is running slower than your camera was running. Simple as that.
Time remapping with frame blending is included with AE. If you shoot with your GoPro at 60 or higher just open the footage in AE, interpret the footage as 29.97 or other standard frame rate like 24 or 23.976, then drop the footage in a comp with the same frame rate and you'll have you slow mo with no problem. That's the same thing as shooting film at 60fps or 100fps and threading up the film in a projector that runs 24fps. If you want to slow it down further use Time Remapping.
The only other really good plug-in is Twixtor, but that's expensive. All others are about the same as what's included with AE.

  • Slow Motion on EX-1

I'm shooting a short comedy with the Sony EX-1, likely for web/DVD. I'd probably shoot the whole thing in 1080p24 BUT I need a few shots in slow-motion by "overcranking" to 60fps - and that is only possible in 720p24.
So, any suggestions as to whether I should (a) do normal shots in 1080p24, and slow-motion shots in 720p24, then mix in FCP; or (b) do everything in 720p24, thus avoiding any mixed format issues?

I guess the reason is to capture at the best quality possible in case I want to move to the big screen or use the higher res version one day. Also, it's nice to have the extra pixels in case I want to do some scaling/zooming during the edit.
You're right, of course, that I'd be up-rezzing the 720p only to compress it again for web/DVD. I'm not sure how much that will muddy it up, but maybe I'll see. (I have another couple days to decide which way to go). That said, I may end up down-rezzing the 1080p, in which case I'll wonder whether it would have been smarter to capture in 720p in the first instance. (Hmm, would there be a difference between "captured as 1080p and down-rezzed to 720p in FCP" footage versus "captured as 720p in the first instance" footage? I'll have to search the boards for that one.)
Thanks again for your insight and advice!

  • Camileo S30 - zoom is ON when Slow Motion is active

    Hi,
I've bought a Camileo S30, and im facing some problems like:
when I active the slow motion system, my camera put all the zoom on, and then I can take or move the zoom.
Another problem is, the photos never come focused every time
I take a picture my photos never come right.

    Hi
The slow motion seems to be available only in video record mode and if this mode is activated the video resolution would be set to 320x240.
    This is QVGA resolution.
Furthermore the stabilization, motion detect, time lapse and slow motion cannot be used simultaneously.

  • Slow-Motion on iPhoto

I don't know if there was an exact answer to solve my problem but i'll ask anyways
I have a iPhone 6 and take a lot of videos and pictures and slow motion videos. I recently updated my iPhoto library with recent slow motion videos which came out amazing, but I have a problem. None of my videos are either no slow motion and they should be or the entire video is slow motion. The way I recorded my videos is  the beginning and end only were normal and the middle was slow motion in all of my slow motion videos. (if that matters). I would like to know if there is anyway to fix it somehow because now my videos don't look right and I can't find another answer anywhere else. I already deleted them off my phone, so I hope there is a solution if not I just lost my really good videos.

Select one of the affected videos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder Window should open with the file selected.
How does it play from there?
