Reverse audio file in Logic Pro x

I have done everything that has been told in discussions and it still will not work, advanced options and audio checked, highlight loop and hit file in editor, go to functions and see reverse but the only heading that is usable in functions is the gain, wont let me use reverse, any ideas?

Since the change is destructive you need to convert the loop into a new audio file, otherwise any other projects that use that loop would be looking at the reversed version.

Unable to edit audio file in Logic Pro

I am putting together some apple loop samples in LP 8, just some simple rhythm stuff-
I have a sample that I want to edit in the sample editor window, but I get the message:
"This audio file cannot be changed!
Volume or file is locked"
My editing choices are greyed out.
I went back to the source files to look at the permissions there-(eg, are they read only, or read and write).
In almost all cases they WERE read only, but even when I changed permissions, still got the same error message.
Also, it seems strange that the apple loops would be read only in the FIRST place- To think that I would need to change permissions at the source file of every sample I wanted to edit-each time i worked with a sample....!!! i mean that just doesn't make sense, right?!?!?
Any ideas?
BTW- I opened the same sample audio files in soundtrack pro and was able to edit them fine as I normally would (no messing with permissions, etc etc)

The thing with the Apple Loops is that since editing in the sample editor is destructive... if you did something to an apple loop that was used in other songs all those songs would now have that altered loop.
So for the apple loops you have to save it as a new file before you can edit it.
As far as the other files, just a guess here, but maybe since Logic was already looking at the file before the permissions were changed it remembers the state of permissions when it opened it.
It makes sense that your permissions need to be read-write because the sample editor changes the file as it performs its actions.

Can't import audio files into Logic Pro

I have some original compositions previously recorded on a Windows PC that I want to work on in Logic Pro. However, despite converting them to .raw, mp3, apple tiff and having the original file as. Wav, Logic Pro doesn’t recognise them; they’re all greyed out when I try to import or open, even though they play ok in I-tunes? How can I resolve this?

.raw is not recognized by Apple. What format is this? Is this an audio file format?
.mp3... well, if you like that kind of degraded sound...
.tiff is an IMAGE file format. Whatever made you think this would work?
I think you have renamed the file extensions one too many times...and the Apple machine is confused. Try starting over.
Also, try to look at the info pane for each file, and make SURE it is seen as a .wav file AND that the file is set to read / write, not locked.

Missing 'Export Track as Audio File' command Logic Pro X 10.0.6

Hi - I have just installed Logic Pro X (v10.0.6) for the first time, having come across from PT.
For some reason, Logic appears to be missing some key 'Export Track as Audio File' commands from the menu. The shortcut Command + E just makes the screen flash and nothing happens. I also appear to be missing a lot of other basic commands along with this, based on what I have seen online from other users. Please see screenshot below of my file > export options:
I have tried reinstalling but the same problem occurs.
Could someone please confirm if this is normal, or how I might be able to fix if not? FYI, I am running OS X 10.9.1..
I am hopefully just missing something obvious here.

So an experienced DAW user that hasn't previously used Logic, would get the limited installation.
The more people you try and and protect from themselves the more generic (i.e. limited) the solution.

Slicing Audio Files in Logic Pro 8 - tutorial!?

Anyone seen a reasonably good tutorial on using the Logic Pro 8 audio editing facilities to slice up loop/non loop audios?
I've been digging around and haven't come up with anything that explains it very well yet.
It's the more in-depth stuff I'm interested in

You will have to use an external program to slice up loops (chop) I use Recycle to chop up loops and output it as a soundfont, then I drag and drop the soundtfont into the User>library>application support>Logic>Sampler Instrument>Soundfont( make a soundfont folder if you don't have one) once you put the soundfont in the folder you can open it in the ES24 sampler just make sure to click the refresh button in the ES24. You can also use the apple utility to slice loops, but I do;t use it so you might find out how to use it in the forum. Hope that helps. I am trying to export all of the separate audio files from Logic Pro X so that I can transfer them into pro Pro Tools, however it won't let me do it without the panning information. The option to untick panning is greyed out. How can I do it?

I have exported the separate audio files, but it contains the panning information. When the export pop up window opens, the export with panning information box is ticked, but it is greyed out so it won't let me unselect it. How do I fix this problem?

Audio File Format - Logic Pro 9 - Prefs

What File Format are you recording in? I have a book
that says to set the Recording File Type to WAVE (BWF).
I've always recorded in AIFF. What settings do you use?

Wave BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) is pretty much an industry standard now, the main difference is it contains "time" location in the file header. When imported into other MIDI/Audio sequencers the file will move to the correct start time. It makes moving projects between various programs or between Mac/PC platforms easier.
However, if that's not something you will be doing AIFF is fine, there is no difference in sound between AIFF & WAV.

Exchange audio files in Soundtrack Pro

Im experimenting with mastering audio files in Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1.
I am wondering if I can swap audio files in and out of the same project file - so I can keep the same STP effects settings while changing the audio file version from v1 to v2. Does this make sense?
As a side question... would it be better to convert the output from 24 to 16 bit (and dither it) in Soundtrack, or let that happen when it imports into iTunes?

Didnt know how to remove the original clip from the STP arrange window - or whatever it's called in STPro. So I could go no further in my perverse science experiment.
It also appeared that I could only import an aif but not a wav?
I gave up on STPro and did what I needed to do in Logic, which I use regularly.

PS. I used to use an old PowerPC version (1.0.3) of STPro and loved the way it visually showed the change in the waveform when you added each efffect. It appears that the new version (3.0.1) does not allow you to do this anymore? You can render or flatten the effects to see the final waveform, but then you are dead in the water and cant make changes?

Create a play list that you wish to burn. Select playlist, the file from main menu which gives to an option to burn the playlist. A pop up box appears allowing you to select burn speed and disc format.

i managed to open an audio file and placed it in the sampler,i can play t sample in the little keyboard in the zones section, howver i dont know how to play it with my controller... the sample shows in C1 on logic's keyboard but if i play C1 on my controller nothing happens... how can i fix this?
Also, i noticed the sample plays from beginning to end once i click on it, how do i do to just make it last until i release the key? like a logic sound??? (in case i want to play a small portion of the sample only)

Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!
