Reverse Scrolling of G580

Hi Guys,
Just got a new G580 Lenovo and im already getting headaches.
Im assuming thanks to windows 8 the scrolling has turned "natural" and decided to reverse itself which if i didnt have to use many different PC's for work id just plain suck it and get used to it but i can see myself getting irritated at forgetting when i should be reverse scrolling and when i shouldnt.
How can i disabled this? I've checked the standard Synaptics settings and i get the option to have vertical scrolling on, or off. Thats the extent of the settings i get.
Its using Synaptics Touchpad V7.5 (Driver version 16.2.10).

And whilst im posting, has anyone successfully installed windows 7 on a default pre-installed windows 8 laptop?
After giving up on getting the machine to attempt to boot from CD i got a Windows 7 Enterprise CD onto a bootable USB however only to find that the OS partition is GPT and not MBR (So the install threw a fit and said no). Without trashing the entire drive from another machine has anyone formatted the _OS partition and managed to get windows 7 on it? Dont really want to wipe the entire drive as ill lose the recovery partitions.
Cheers guys and Merry Christmas!

hi Rbrewer,
Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
Reverse Scrolling is a feature on certain Synaptic Touchpad Device, if you have already tried to install the Touchpad Driver v16.2.10.3,try to upgrade the Synaptics Touchpad Driver to v16.2.1. If it doesn't work, disabling this feature is not currently possible (unless you uninstall the Touchpad driver itself and use the windows generic driver)
In downgrading Windows 8 to Windows7, you will need to convert the GPT partition to MBR in order for you to install Windows 7. There are tools on how to convert GPT to MBR without losing data, check the following:
1. Gdisk, discussion here.
2. Disk Management Tool, discussion here.
For all other, the general way to convert GPT to MBR is this guide.
Goodluck!.

  • Reverse scrolling in iPhoto

Lion reverse scrolling works in Safari and iWork apps, but not in iPhoto. Is there a way to make it work?

When they introduced Lion, Apple changed the direction of scrolling that results from a two finger swipe on the trackpad. When you swipe down, the page moves down the way it does on an iPhone. In Leopard and earlier systems, the page moves up when you swipe down. Although we got used to it, this is really counter-intuitive. Apple made the change in Lion to make it easier for people who are migrating to the Mac from the iPhone and iPad.  When I wrote my question, scrolling in iPhoto was behaving the way it used to under Snow Leopard. I have since done some maintenance on the system and iPhoto is once again scrolling as it should.  I have no idea what made it misbehave.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • OS X 10.6.8 Reverse Scrolling ???

OK...I understand the logic behind Apple's decision to "reverse" the scrolling direction in Mountain Lion.  What I don't understand is why I now have to use multiple devices (iMac with mouse & OS X 10.6.8, MacBookAir with trackpad and OS X10.6.8, iMac with trackpad and OS X 10.8, iPhone) all with various scrolling directions.  My OS X 10.6.8 machines need to come into the iPhone scrolling world and offer "reverse scrolling" as a preferences setup option.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but the latest OS X 10.6 does not offer "reverse scrolling"......is that correct?  Really?  You're kidding!
By the way, Apple, retro-engineering Mountain Lion to "reverse scroll", is not the answer.  You must also allow 10.6 and other OS X's to behave like an iPhone (and Mountain Lion).
    Cheers,
    BottomFeedr

Yes, 10.8 with trackpad can be set up to scroll as 10.6.8 with trackpad.  But if a user were to do that, those machines would scroll opposite that of an iPhone.  10.8's "reverse" scrolling was introduced so that a 10.8 machine would behave in a fashion similar to that of an iPhone.  I wish to have all my devices scroll like an iPhone.  Therefore, I'd like my 10.6.8 trackpad machines to reverse their scrolling...not the other way around.
    My 10.6.8 trackpad device:
    Apple>System Preferences>Trackpad>
The available options/settings include no fewer than 15 variables.  Only one of these mentions anything about scrolling, and that doesn't include a reverse option.
Of course I checked System Preferences before I posted.  As you said....duh.
Can anyone else offer a solution?
(My appologies to the community.  I really didn't mean to offend.)

  • Set reverse scroll direction for guest account

Is there a way to set the default scroll direction to reverse scrolling for the guest account?
    Thanks.

No: all settings are restored to default when the guest logs out. But you could create a managed account for visitors, with suitable restrictions, then that would hold any setting you made. Of course its contents won't be deleted when they log out, which can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on circumstances.

  • Stop reverse scrolling with microsoft mouse

Please accept my apologies if this question has already been asked and answered.  I searched but could not find the answer in this forum.  I recently purchased a Mac Mini computer running Lion OS.  I use a microsoft mouse and keyboard that came complete with drivers for the MAC.  I am experiencing two intermittent problems relating to mouse action and cursor.
    1.  The first problem is with reverse scrolling.  Somehow, and I can't recall how, I managed to disable reverse scrolling.  However, intermittently my computer reverts to reverse scrolling.  Often I am able to fix the problem by rebooting the Mac.  On other occassions this does not work.  I have researched the issue online and have read the articles about turning off reverse scrolling in the mouse and track pad sections of System Preferences.  However, this option is not available presented when I access these windows.
    2.  The second problem deals with cursor size.  I use my mac mini a a media center connected to my TV.  To make the navigation easier I have made the cursor as large as possilbe using System Preferences - Universal Access - Mouse Tab.  However, frequently the cursor reverts back to the minimum size on its own.  When I access the appropriate section of System Preferences I note that, according to my configuration, the cursor should be maximized.  I can re-establish the maximum size my making the cursor smaller and then making it bigger or conversely by rebooting the Mac.
Any assistance on these two matters would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Wayne

I have issue #1 randomly reversing scrolling direction, what is wrong? My system Mac Mini with Microsoft Mouse / Keyboard.

  • Os x 10.8.3 bootcamp reverse scroll direction

I just installed 10.8.3 on my retina and the new windows 8 driver with a fresh bootcamp install.  Good news is the bluetooth works to keyboard and trackpad, both my external thunderbolt monitors work, the resolution is now correct at 2880x1880.
Only problem so far is I can't figure out how reverse two finger scroll up and down on my track pad.  It wants to go as if I'm rolling a mouse ball.
how can I reverse that? I don't see anything in bootcamp preferences / trackpad to do that.

As far as I know, natural scrolling is only for OS X, not for Windows, unless Apple has added this feature with the most recent drivers. However, if you want the natural scrolling, you can try using Trackpad++ > http://trackpad.powerplan7.com/

  • In Win7, I've set all flipflopwheel registry entries to 1, reversing scroll direction - everywhere except Thunderbird! (Even works in Firefox) Ideas?

I'm a Mac user in a Windows world. I like "natural scrolling". I've reversed all the windows scrolling by changing all instances of "flipflopwheel" in the registry. This fixed it even for low-level software like Synergy, which lets me use my keyboard and mouse across both my Windows and Mac computers.
Any idea why Thunderbird would be reading the mouse directly, and if that's really what's happening, how to change it's interpretation of the scroll wheel to match the rest of the OS?

Right-click on the YouTube video.  Does it say About HTML5 or About Flash Player?
If it says About Flash Player, then go to the mixer, open the detailed view to see all the sliders, and make sure that the volume for the Flash Player slider is not muted.

I may have been able to resolve my issue. I held shift while opening Illustrator and opened it in a bare bones mode, then closed it and reopened it without getting the error message. Good luck to you.

  • How to reverse scrolling for trackpad?

I just downloaded Lion last night, and the scrolling goes in reverse to what I'm used to. Is there anyway to fix it without downloading anything? I don't have a mouse, and I only want to use my trackpad. I'm using 10.8.5, so my system preferences page looks a lot different than everyone elses.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,
I know you dont want to download anything, but other support posts have said this works good:

  • Any way to reverse scroll wheel zoom?

I love the option+scroll wheel zoom in the After Effects timeline and was always annoyed that many of the Apple Pro apps didn't support this. Recently switched over to Premiere, and glad to see the scroll wheel works in the timeline as well. However, it's reversed! In AE, when you scroll forward, you zoom IN... in Premiere, you zoom OUT.
Any option somewhere that allows you to invert this? I keep getting all messed up as I go back and forth between the apps.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

Stephen, I so agree with this.
In Audition and FCP it works the correct way too. Pr Pro just feels all wrong and it's doing my head in.
The software is great to use, but the zoom is incredibly confusing, considering all the other applications I've used in the past all work correctly.
I can only hope that they don't start changing things like Apple did with the reversing of the track pad in Lion. bad move there in my books (just one reason why I don't need to upgrade).
    Cheers,
    Steve

  • "reverse"scroll wheel function in LR 3.4.1 under lion

i have just noticed that when i go to the HSL/color panel and hoover over a point in my image, that the scroll action works in reverse.
that is, if i hoover over, for example a red area, and without clicking down, just roll the scroll wheel, that the slider shows neg numbers when i roll up and positive numbers when  when i roll down.
this was exactly the opposite of the respone under SL. unable to post screen image.
    any ideas?
    thanks
    vince

thanks very much for your reply. i notice that i can the  uncheck "scroll directiom: natural" in trackpaf prefs and produce the same reslut. i have unchecked in both pref panels in this regard.
    thanks very much,

  • How to Reverse Scrolling Credits? Help!

I need a way to reverse the scrolling credits in iMovie 11. I want them to start at the end, and scroll backwards to the beginning.
    Anyway to do that?
    Thanks.

Make a project that contains your scrolling credits, and nothing else. SHARE it using Export to QuickTime. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the codec. Import this movie back into an iMovie Event by using File/Import Movies.
Now you can use this clip and go to the Clip tab of the Inspector and select Reverse.

  • [solved] Reverse scrolling direction ala Mac OS X Lion?

I spend a big portion of my time on Macs, and the balance in Linux. I have come to really like the "natural" scrolling implemented in Mac OS X Lion (enough so that I have found a way to have it on my one Snow Leopard box, as well). Is there a way to do the same with GNOME 3 and GNOME shell under Arch?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Two Finger Scroll Reversed in Modern Apps

Hello, I have a new Thinkpad Yoga and for some reason two finger scrolling in modern apps is fixed to reversed scrolling (scrolling down moves the page up and vice versa).  Both horizontal and vertical scrolling are affected.
I have the latest Ultranav drivers and I unclicked "reverse scrolling" from the options.  Desktop Apps scroll normally.  Also, when I use the edge scroll it works as expected on both desktop and modern apps.
I'm thinking that there are separate entries in the registry for scrolling in modern apps or something like that...
    Thanks!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi, thanks for the help.  Unfortunately I have already tried that.
I figured out it has something to do with how the latest UltraNav driver treats the touchpad in the Win8 modern environment.  It simulates a touch screen when using two fingers.  I installed the generic Synaptics driver which solved the problem but created a new one.  Namely, it does not turn off the touchpad when using the Yoga in tablet or stand modes.
Another solution was to go into the registry and disable the TouchInjectionAction Key.  This helped in some apps but others wouldn't recognize scrolling at all.
    I'm honestly at wits end...

  • Since latest updates - Gnome Shell, scrolling is reversed

I upgraded a bunch of updates relating to xorg earlier (testing repo is enabled). Since rebooting, the scrolling on my touchpad is reversed. I really don't want this.
A bit of googling suggests that to enable reverse scrolling you must edit ~/.Xmodmap, but the file is non-existant, so it technically shouldn't be enabled in the first place.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Edit: I just noticed if you scroll on the left side of the touchpad, it scrolls the right way. If you scroll around the top and bottom it scrolls too. It seems like circular scrolling is permanently on and also reversed. Very strange.
