Reverse Sync iPod Bookmarks to my MBP

Hi,
Don't know what happened yesterday, but I did something in my Safari bookmarks collections menu and all of a sudden all of my bookmarks were gone (hundreds, neatly organized, and very necessary to my work). After panicking, it occurred to me that they all still reside on my iPod Touch, but now I'm afraid to plug it in because a two-way sync will erase all of the bookmarks on the Touch, too.
Is there any way to somehow save the bookmarks from the Touch, or one-way sync them to the MBP?
I have searched the web quite exhaustively, and it seems anyone interested in reverse-syncing iPods just wants to rip the music.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the discussions,
First of all, disable autosync and backup your ipod manually by right clicking on it in the device list and choosing backup. After that at least your bookmarks can be restored on your ipod again, just in case.
See this article about syncing: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
Bookmarks sync two ways, so if you set up new bookmarks on your mac, your bookmarks should be merged during the next sync, from the ipod towards the mac and back.

  • Ipod touch Safari not syncing Safari bookmarks with my MBP over Mobile me

    Hi -
Just got a 16 GB Second Gen iPod Touch yesterday. I also opted to try out the free 60 day trial of Mobile me. For some reason the Safari on my iPod will not sync with and show all of the bookmarks I have on Safari on my MacBook pro. I went back and checked the settings and signed out and signed back into mobile me and reset what is synced, but still did not work
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    M.

    1) Make sure you login to iTunes with your MobileMe account.
    2) Make sure you sync your Mac with the MobileMe System Preference Pane.
    * Be sure to go to the Sync tab and select Bookmarks.
    3) Sync your Mac.
    4) Now in iTunes, goto the Info tab. It should state that Your Bookmarks are being synced with your iPod/iPhone using MobileMe.

  • Reverse sync-ing of iPod to iTunes?

I made a HUGE mistake!! About 2-3 weeks ago I d/l'd the 7.0.1.8 version of iTunes (CD Driver 2.0.6.0 and CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.0).
It worked fine to watch an episode of Heroes.
Then this week I opened up iTunes and there was a series of pop-up prompts that I (mea culpa!) ignored and I just kept clicking on "Next" until it got to the last one which I think asked something about my library and if I wanted iTunes to do it or if I wanted to manually do it. I answered yes. I am completely at fault, I just kept clicking through without really reading the prompts.
My whole library was scanned for about 20 minutes or more, something about gapless backups. Then when it was all done, I realized I had duplicates and triplicates of songs in my iTunes.
I went to "Show All Duplicates" and clicked on Select All and Delete. That deleted the whole library. Fortunately I had it backed up recently to an external USB hard drive. I repopulated iTunes via the backups. It still created duplicates which I am painstakingly and manually deleting.
HOWEVER, while the restore did restore my playlists, they are not all populated. The SmartPlaylists were re-created and repopulated. My personal playlists were re-created but were not populated.
I have not synced my iPod since before all this occured. Is there a way to reverse sync iTunes from the iPod to restore my settings and populated lists that are still on my iPod?
Thanks for any advice, insight, or suggestions offered!

  • Sync Ipad bookmarks to Macbook

    HI,
a new Ipad 2 without bookmarks synced to my macbook, thus deleting all my bookmarks on the Macbook. I still have my bookmarks on an Ipad 1. I 'd like to sync those back again to the macbook, but can not find a way to do that.
I have a mobile me account but dare not to sync, because it tells me more than 25% of my bookmarks get changed, and will delete the bookmarks a just put there again. `changing the settings the other way around won't help I believe, because there's nothing there, otherwise they would have synced correctly the first time.
Is there no app taht can read safaribookmarks on the Ipad? delicious wont do it I believe.
    Anyone please?
    Thanks,
    Marius

    Hi Judie...
It seems like everything I read gives instructions to sync the bookmarks from Mac to iPad. I want the reverse.
Not everyone has issues with Safari / iCloud bookmarks and keep in mind, iCloud syncs your bookmarks automatically across platforms, not just one way.
There is a way to reset iCloud syncing.
On a Mac open System Preferences > iCloud. Deseled the box next to Safari then reselect it
On your iPad tap Settings > iCloud. Switch Safari off then back on. It can take iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

  • Sync iPad Bookmarks to MacBook Air

Hi! I just spent days organizing my Safari bookmarks on my iPad (iOS 7.1.1) I would now like these bookmarks synced to my MacBook Air (Mavericks). I did this a year ago, too, and wound up with a gigantic mess and many wasted hours. I was so frustrated with iCloud that I just turned it off completely and lived with the stupid mess.  At the time I Googled and learned others were having the same problem. Has iCloud evolved in any positive way over the year that would allow me to achieve success? It seems like everything I read gives instructions to sync the bookmarks from Mac to iPad. I want the reverse.
Thank you for any help you may provide!

  • Get my iPhone bookmarks to my MBP?

I recently had an issue with my HD and had to revert back to a cloned backup.  However, my bookmarks got lost somehow and now I'd like them back.  The weird thing is that they are on my iphone, but not on my MBP safari browser.  How can I 'export' from iphone to MBP?  I have a MM account and syncing is on, but it's not syncing to Safari on my MBP?  Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • How to sync Safari bookmarks between various Macs?

I own a desktop iMAC and a Mac Book Pro, but most of my work is done in the iMAC, However, I'd like to sync my Safari bookmarks in my MBP in order to have the same bookmarks in it too.
Being a mobileme subscriber, I have set it up in the iMAC and the MBP to sync the Favorites too. But it doesn't seem to work as the bookmarks in my MBP are completely different from those which I'm after, i.e. the ones in my iMAC.
    Where am I going wrong?

    HI,
    Try MobileMe: Resetting sync data
Then open System Preferences / MobileMe - Sync
Select Bookmarks in the list and click Sync.

  • Reverse Sync?

Ok, so this isn't so much a technical problem as much as it is just very very annoying, fist-through-the-wall, situation.
Long story short, I had to do a full system restore on my computer for unrelated reasons. Naturally, this will wipe all the songs I had on iTunes, my library, everything; so, I moved everything to a 400 GB Portable Hard Drive I bought a little while back. Everything transferred over just fine to the PHD, however, when I tried to move it back to the "Music" folder in my re-formatted computer, not everything transferred, and what didn't, is missing.
So now I have iTunes on this computer, but with less than 1/3 of my former library. The only upside is that my Ipod still holds all the songs, playlists, etc from my old computer, as I haven't updated it yet.
The question is: Can I somehow reverse-sync my ipod to iTunes, to recover all of the music that's still on my ipod, but somehow missing from my PHD?

iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • Reverse Sync Software

What is the recommended software to do reverse sync? I need to move music from an iPod to my iTunes w/o erasing the iPod.

  • Sync ipod to a different computer and different itunes account

I bought my dad an ipod and put a bunch of songs from his CD's on it using my computer and bought him songs from itunes using my account. Now he wants to use itunes (his own account) to put more songs on it using his computer. When we plug it in it wants to sync it to his computer and says that everything will be erased off of his ipod. Is there anyway to add to it with out erasing the hundreds of songs I put on there already or even get the songs on the ipod onto his computer?

The following documents might be of some assistance with that:
    Using iPod with multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
Copying music between authorized computers with iTunes for Windows
Although the last document refers to purchased music, those techniques (with the exception of the reverse sync of purchases) can also be used to transfer songs that you've ripped from CDs from one PC to the other.

  • Sync Safari Bookmarks

I own an iPhone 3G with OS 3.1.3. Today after a sync with iTunes 9.1 (79) on my MBP with MacOS X 10.6.3 I noted that the Safari bookmarks on my iPhone were not in sync with my laptop.
After a first look, as I understand, now I need to sync the bookmarks through the mobile me cloud.
Is it so? If yes, I don't want to send my personal data (email, calendar, contacts) over a cloud. I don't trust a cloud. So, please, is a way to sync these data as I was used to do with the previous versions, that is directly without passing through a cloud? Thanks

With a MobileMe account, you are not required to sync contacts, calendar events, or Safari bookmarks over the air with your iPhone or with your Mac, but not doing so defeats a purpose or benefit with a MobileMe account.
Even when syncing Safari bookmarks over the air with a MobileMe account on an iPhone, you can also sync bookmarks direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process, but doing so may duplicate the bookmarks on your iPhone. You can do one or the other, or both at the same time.
If Safari bookmarks are not syncing properly when synced direct via the iTunes sync process, try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application in your Applications folder.
Are you syncing Address Book contacts and iCal calendar events with your Mobile online contacts and calendar with your Mac? If so, this is being done over the air.

  • Reverse syncing iphone playlists

I was running windows with 2 harddrives. One with my OS and some applications including itunes. My second harddrive was for storage which is where I kept my itunes music folder.
My OS harddrive crashed and I lost the itunes settings including all of the playlists. However, I was still able to keep my music because it was on my second harddrive.
My question is if there is a way to copy the playlists from my iphone to my itunes. Right now I just have itunes with a bunch of music and no playlists. I want to be able to reverse sync my iphone playlists to appear on itunes.
One issue I am running into is if I allow itunes to sync music it will delete the current playlists I have on the phone which I do not want to do obviously.

    George Coghill wrote:
I have discovered that the issue with unchecked playlists syncing on the iPhone is caused by the weird fact that iPhone sync will add any/all playlist the items you have synced appear in.
I realize this is an old post, but in case you haven't solved this there is a workaround -- for all music-only smart playlists, add the criteria "Kind Does Not Contain Video" (use the "Kind" criteria, not "Video Kind"). You can still have smart playlists for your videos, and obviously you would leave that criteria out. Only the music smart playlists need this, and it seems to affect all iPods going back several iTunes revisions.
