Reversed iCloud "Document & data syncing" settings

Hi there,
I do have a "really weired" problem.
Using 1 iPhone and 1 iPad (mine) and another iPhone (my wife's) on the same iCloud account.
1) docs (i.e. GoodReader or Pages) generated on my iPad show up on my iPhone, but not on my wife's iPhone. So, my wife's iPhone seems to be "separated" from the other devices, even it's on the same "account".
2) on my iPhone and iPad in "Settings -> iCloud -> Document & Data syncing" it has to be OFF to make Pages and GoodReader show iCloud. If I turn it ON, immediately there's no more iCloud availabe. So this setting is "reverse sensed".
What is more, when I go to "Settings -> iCloud -> Memory & Backup" all devices show the same "usage", only let's say 10MB used it Pages and GoodReader (which is true for my wife's iPhone) even on my iPad there's >10GB of files in GoodReader.
All devices newest iOS.
When I found out files didn't sync to my wife's iPhone (which had the "reverse sensing settings" problem too), I deleted the iCloud account, used a differen account, deleted that too and activated my iCloud account again. That helped switch from "reverse" to "normal" settings.
This didn't help on the other devices (my iPhone and my iPad).
Is there any "RESET on the server-side" to get things running correctly?
Thx & best regards,
Peter

Correction and one more explanation:
Let's say, my wife's iPhone has in GoodReader -> iCloud -> Folder A (with 10 MB) of data-files, but doesn't see Folder B & C,
My iPhone & iPad both have Folders B and C with 1 (not 10) GB of data files, but cannot see Folder A. Everything that's created / moved / deleted shows on the other device (as iCloud is supposed to), but not on my wife's iPone at all.
And what is more, the "Settings -> iCloud -> Memory and Backup" on my two devices shows "10MB used in GoodReader" even if it's 1GB of data in there and "Documents & Data settings" is (and has to be) switched OFF.
At the Genius Bar in Munich Apple Store they were quite puzzled and said there is a Server-Reset, does anyone know how to contact iCloud support for that?
Thx & best regards,
Peter

  • Disable iCloud Documents & Data?

    Hi,
yesterday i got my iPad Air 2 and disable Documents & Data under Settings -> iCloud.
I only sync my contacts, so i disable everything there (not "contacts", but everything else).
After disabling everything beside "contacts", "Documenst & Data" is still shown under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calander -> Accounts (iCloud: "Contacts, Documents & Data").
When going back to Settings -> iCloud, the setting (ON/OFF) for Documents & Data is gone! It is no longer in the List!
I have to logout from iCloud and Login again, then every setting in iCloud is back to standard (nearly everything is ON).
And "Documents & Data" is back in the list (ON).
When i disable it again, the entry disappears again! I can not turn it back on, however Documenst & Data" is still shown under Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calander -> Accounts (iCloud: "Contacts, Documents & Data")!
This is on every iOS-Device i tested it!
iPhone 4S from a friend, iPad Air 2, and the iPad Mini from my dad.
    Must be a bug?!?
    Some questions:
    1. Is there a way to really disable "Documents & Data" in iCloud?
    2. And where can i see which Documents & Data is stored in my iCloud?
    3. And is it possible to simply delete every Document & Data in the iCloud?
Can anybody help me with that questions?
    Thanks!
    Julia

It will delete all your data synced from iCloud, not the whole hard disk. You can turn off each service individually, so you can choose to keep your contacts, calendars, notes...

I believe the documents & data setting was removed with iOS 8.1.  You can delete documents and data by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage>Manage Storage, then tap each app listed under Documents & Data, tap Edit, then tap Delete All to delete it.

  • ICloud Documents not syncing to Mac

    Hi
I have just recently completed a fresh install of Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro. Everything is working fine, apart from iCloud documents on not syncing to my Mac. Everything else on iCloud is syncing (Mail, Calender, Reminders etc...) just not; Pages, Numbers and Preview.
I have tried ticking and unticking the Documents and Data tab in iCloud system preferences, but this has not helped. When I look at the "Mobile Documents" folder in ~Library, the file structure is there but no files.
Has anyone got any ideas on what might be the problem?
    Many Thanks
    James

Save as many documents as you can to your desktop from iCloud.com or from the iCloud document panel in the appropriate Applications.
Turn off document syncing on every device.
On your mobile devices make sure document syncing is turned off not only in the iCloud settings, but also in the settings for each app.
Check the apps on your mobile devices no longer have any documents in them.
On your computer go to system preferences > iCloud > manage and delete any documents you see in your iCloud storage.
    Restart all devices.
Re-enable document syncing device by device, ensuring that syncing is working properly before re-enabling syncing on the next device.

  • I dont see 'documents & data' in settings

  • ICloud Failing to Sync Documents (But not Data)

I use iCloud on my desktop Mac, my iPhone and my iPad. Every single feature of this iCloud three-way commingling is working perfectly as advertised, except one.
My bookmarks sync, my calendar syncs, my notepad notes sync, my Safari open tabs sync -- all lovely.
But Pages on my Mac cannot see iCloud documents (that is, documents created or edited on the iPhone or iPad versions of Pages). I can log into the iCloud website, navigate to the iWork section, and see my Pages documents there in the cloud. I can edit or create them seamlessly on either my iPhone or my iPad. No problem.
But my Mac is left out of the Pages party. It saves things to a place it believes to be iCloud (in the appropriate mobile documents directory in the library), but those documents are not accessible anywhere except from that same Mac. iWork doesn't see them, and Pages on my iOS devices doesn't see them.
The Mac is otherwise syncing all other iCloud services just fine.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled Pages (4.3, from the App Store), toggled and untoggled the checkbox for Documents & Data sync, restarted, zapped my PRAM, and even done a rain-dance. Still no sync for Pages documents to the desktop version of Pages.
Please help me troubleshoot this issue!
    Any and all suggestions appreciated.
(By the bye, my OS is Mountain Lion 10.8.2 running on a MacPro5,1.)

I have gotten to the bottom of it and, as usual in such cases, the actual cause was trivial user error. I report in full here for the benefit of those who arrive at this thread via search.
My problem turned out to be a firewall conflict. I was so concerned with diagnosing some subtlety of iCloud that I forgot to be more methodical about the basics.
In my case, I had initially been using Pages from an iWork 09 DVD installation (from the office) but then switched to an AppStore purchased version of Pages (my own copy). Because these two identical applications lived in different places in my filesystem (the former stored at /Applications/iWork 09/Pages.app and the latter at /Applications/Pages.app) and the outbound firewall rules had been set up Little Snitch for the first instance of Pages specifically, the rules broke when Mountain Lion tried to apply them to the newer instance of Pages.
If anything it's kind of a Little Snitch bug. I guess it couldn't apply the rules to the new Pages (because the file path didn't match) but also couldn't ask me to make new rules since, when it checked, it already had an entry for Pages.
But, like I said, also a user bug, because more thorouglly checking the networking issues should've occured to me much earlier! Thanks for your help, those who chimed in.

  • Mail syncing settings with iCloud without my permission?

I noticed that in ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData there is a file called SyncedFilesInfo.plist which specifies that rules, smart mail boxes and signatures are to be synced via iCloud. I don't remember telling Mail to do that so.. what gives?

  • I need help with 'Documents & Data' taking up all the space on my iPhone

Hello, I have searched for days on the internet for a way to solve my problem but nothing and I really mean NOTHING seems to work at all.
I can't buy any software either.
When I go into Settings>iCloud Documents &  Data are off and have been off all the time. Yet I STILL have Documents &  Data taking up 5 GB of my phone and I don't have much space either.
I have hopelessly tried deleting most of my messages and NONE and I mean NONE of the space has been given to me, nothing changed but my messages completely disappeared. No I do not use iCloud and I have the latest software updates. My phone is not jailbroken. I even tried deleting most of my apps and installing them again but that didn't work either. Photos take a small amount of space on my iPhone.
I really hope someone can help me this is a really big issue for me and I do not fancy resetting the phone back to its Factory settings.
I am new to the apple forum so sorry if this isn't in the right category or something. Thank you in advance. I also do not really fancy going all the way to the centre of the city to go to a Genius Bar.
By the way, a few minutes ago I tried backing up my iPhone and syncing it again and a message popped out telling me that I need additional 4 GB of space in order to let it sync and I do not understand this, Documents & Data take more and more of my space every time I look. Also all the messages I delete come right back when I turn the phone on and off.

  • I can't find how to access/import my iCloud documents in iOS iWorks?

According to the iCloud settings on my Mac, all Documents from Pages, Keynote and Numbers are automatically saved to iCloud.
Everything is iCloud enabled in Settings on both my Mac and iPad (iPad Air, iOS 7.1.1) and Documents and Data is turned on etc.
However, when I open my iWorks (Pages, Keynote or Numbers) apps on my iPad, there seems to be no option to import or open files from iCloud?
This is very frustrating, so if someone could help that would be great.

    Hello annac42
They should show up in the document manger when opening up any of the iWork apps for iOS. If they do not, then check out the article below for some troubleshooting steps to go over including resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.

  • IWork won't load iCloud documents on iOS 6 after update

Pages, Numbers and Keynote won't load iCloud documents. I manually turn on the feature to use iCloud, but it immediately automatically turns off after I load any of the iWork apps on my iPhone. Apple, please fix asap!

Also struggled for a long time. iCloud documents between Iphone and Macbook were syncing, but not with iPad. The following seems to have sorted out the problem (did it only on iPad):
Settings - General - Reset - Reset All Settings
After doing this, all my iCloud documents appeared in:
Settings - iCloud - Storage and Backup - Manage Storage - Pages.
    All devices are now syncing
    Hope this helps

  • ICloud documents not showing up in iCloud

Using Pages I have a number of documents that just don't show up on any of my iCloud devices (including iCloud from my Mac, when I click Open and go to iCloud they aren't there). I have tried duplicating the files and saving them to iCloud but they still don't appear. Any new documents that are saved into iCloud are saved properly, but this group of older files have been heavily enough formatted that copying and pasting would be a pain. I have saved all the old files under a similar tag. They all appear in Finder under the tag and the file path even shows them as located in iCloud, but that is the only way I can locate them.
    Any help would be appreciated...

If you haven't already tried, you might try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Documents & Data, restart your Mac then go back and check Documents & Data again.  If this doesn't help, you might need to try resetting the iCloud Documents & Data service as explained here: iCloud: Resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.

  • ICloud can't sync documents&data

Yesterday I reinstall iOS7 without loading old backup.
when login iCloud, I have a problem like them https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5321569?start=0&tstart=0
and i solved the problem using "find my friends"
today i found that i can't sync documents & data... both on my iPhone and Mac
can't upload iWork documents, can't download & upload Day One
it show 4.84GB free of my 5GB storage. But i can't found data on the "Manage Storage"
have called apple support , still waiting for reply...
    do you have same problem?

Not as part of my immediate issue, but (as I did explain above) 1) this thread deals with rules/sigs vanishing, and 2) that seems to happen a lot, to people who sync AND people who don't, 3) it seems that this problem is sometimes attributed to iCloud syncing when that is not the problem and 4) I was hoping there might be some related Mail issue (besides just iCloud) that *might* help explain things. I aslo said I thought it was a long shot, but....any port in a storm. No offense intended, but it seems that my long shot didn't turn up any useful info.
That said, since i DO have a heckuva lot of rules set up, and having them reside eslewhere might be useful. Is there a way to move rules already in existence to iCloud? If I make changes locally, will they get picked up by iCloud or overwriten? If not, then iCloud won't help me at present.....

  • Icloud document sync broken on one account

I hope the community has found a solution to this...
i have two different icloud accounts. One, my main account, has 20gb of storage, and is my email address. The other, has 5gb, and was opened to test this issue.
when i use the first icloud account and attempt to sync certain application (instacast is the main culprit), the program reports that the program is unable to get data from sync services. when i go into the icloud area and serch for the paritcular document, the ipad/iphone both report, that the program isn't storing data on the icloud account.
when i use the second icloud account and attempt to sync instacast. it works as expected, and sync's across my iOS devices with ease. it does fail from time to time, however, the built-in reset feature does a decent job of fixing the sync issues. else, going into the icloud panel in settings, shows the program storing one document, which is easy to delete, and sync starts to work once again.
i'm guessing that the first account which continues to fail has soemthing stuck somewhere. i've tried to examine the folder on my MBP entitled "mobile documents" within the library, but much to my discontentment, the folder doesnt exist despite my attempts find it or create it.
what gives? is there anyway to purge icloud document sync on my main account?

Your question is about *.Mac Sync*, not iSync. iSync only syncs to mobile phones and PDAs, not Mac-to-Mac.
The *.Mac Sync* forum is here:

  • How to reverse iCloud/iCal sync fiasco?

I can't reverse iCal to not sync with iCloud. Installed new OS and tried (and hated) iCloud for calendar data. How do I restore old settings and keep the iCloud from messing w my iCal?  I would prefer iCal data only on my MacBook, but can't seem to go back, or to delete the iCloud/ICal sync settings.

I've been having the same issue, but I think I've figured it out.
Select a calendar from the list, go File > Export > Export... (not "iCal Archive...", just "Export..."), and save the file. Do this for all your calendars, then disable iCloud, and open each of your calendars with iCal, always selecting "New Calendar" as the destination.
I know, it's time-consuming, and maybe there's a more elegant way, but it works.

  • How can I sync my iPhone 4 with a new MacBook Pro without losing all my data and settings?

I used to sync my iPhone 4 with a PC running Windows XP until the hard drive died. Thankfully, I already had a backup of all my iTunes media (Songs, TV Shows, Movies, Podcasts, Apps, etc), so when I bought a new MacBook Pro, transferring my iTunes library was easy.
My problem now is that I want to sync my iPhone 4 with my new MacBook Pro without losing all the data and settings. I have already used iTunes to back it up and transfered my purchases onto the mac. I just need help to sync the iPhone with the Mac without losing app data, emails, contacts, settings.
Everytime I click on the tabs (to sync contacts, apps, music, et al), I get an error message that reads:
"Are you sure you want to sync apps? All existing apps and their data on the iPhone “Ryan's iPhone” will be replaced with apps from this iTunes library."
What do I do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ryan
