Reversing pages on import

When importing a long facing-page PM7 document (> 100 pp.) into Indesign CS4 in Mac OSx 4.11, a large number of spreads have the text on the pages reversed left to right. It is fixable by manually swapping the text frames between pages. Does anyone have suggestions as to how to avoid this problem?
A second issue is that all the inline eps graphics (equations that occupy their own line) are misplaced by several lines and stuck into a line of text. They can be manually removed and reimported in the correct locations, but can anyone suggest how to avoid this extra work?

I haven't found a way to prevent the page reversal, but it is not difficult to manually correct these errors. A bigger problem reared it head since. One file containing a large number of in-text eps equations crashed ID during conversion. I found that I had to remove all the inline equations in PM7 (replacing them with the equation number in text on that line as a record and placeholder) to get it to convert the file. I then re-imported the equation eps files to ID and that ultimately solved both the crash problem and the misplaced equation problem.

LR 5.6 *VERY* slow moving from Library page to Import page

I am running LR 5.6 on Windows 8.1 64-bit with a 3.8 GHz processor.
I am having trouble getting to the page to import files. Once I click the "Import" button, it takes about 3 minutes to switch from the library to the import files page. I have set the default image location to a folder on my local hard drive, so it shouldn't be trying to connect to some location on my network. Once there I get to the import files page, it says "please select a source", at which point I now have to wait another 4-5 minutes before I can select the folder/card with the images on it. Once I finally get there, it takes the normal amount of time to populate the screen with thumbnails and then import them (i.e., runs as expected).
To make sure it is not a problem with my catalogue, I started with a fresh one. I have 3 images in it, and the problem did not improve.
It almost seems like every time I go to the import screen, LR is searching all my drives, all my card readers, and my server. It seriously takes about as much time as performing a search in Windows File Explorer on my whole system. Other than that, I can't think of how it could take this long. Is there a setting I need to choose to tell LR to just stick to my local system? I am going nuts with this problem. I'm having trouble even working with it, because each time I want to switch between screens I have to find something else to do for almost 10 minutes. It's really hard to play with settings because of the sheer amount of time it takes to get to the import screen. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, as I can't seem to find any other forum posts describing a problem like this.

Okay, I figured it out, and it's partially a hardware problem. It turns out that LR is scanning my USB hub (which has an empty card reader in it), and for some reason that takes LR about 8 minutes to execute. If I disconnect the hub, the LR problem goes away. Note: there doesn't appear to be a problem with the hardware itself, just in the way LR interacts with it.
It looks like I'll be adding myself to the list of people who wish there was a way to exclude file locations in LR. There doesn't seem to be any way to address the problem (although I would really like to know why it only started when I switched from LR4 to LR5). :-(

Lost reverse page orientation in page setup in CS2 going from 10.4 to 10.5

I do a lot of hi quality printing for CDs & DVDs using Photoshop CS2. With OS 10.4.11 in page setup from the file menu, I had three icons (for landscape, portrait, and reverse portrait). Now with 10.5.8 - I have only two.
Some programs like Preview have a box to check for "reverse page orientation" in the "page setup" menu or in the print submenu for "layout", but not CS2. (Preview prints to fill the page not to accurate size)
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a secret way to bring up the reverse page orientation option that I just haven't discovered?
This really messes me up for precise double sided printing - and it makes me wish I'd stuck with 10.4.

BDAqua came up with the answer, which is to save a reverse version in Photoshop of the images to be printed reverse, and then those images directly in the usual portrait setup in the printing dialogue. This way, I won't be dependent on having a reverse image orientation option in the printer setup. (lost for Photoshop CS2 in OS 10.5)

Reverse page order in pdf?

Is there a easy / cheap tool or method to reverse the page order for a multi-page .pdf document?
I think something like Adobe Writer might do it, but I don't need to do this very often, and was hoping to find a cheaper way, or shareware product...
I can manually rearrange the pages in something like PDFLab, but this can be time-consuming for larger documents...
My printer lets me print in reverse page order, but I can't seem to make it print to .pdf in reverse order?
Any ideas!?

I am trying to import a page from one application to another application in a different work space in the same instance.
In the export file i have changed the target application id and workspace id. I am facing below error while importing the specific page.

I got the solution for the page export/import in between 2 workspaces.
Only thing is we need to do some template related changes in the page, item, region attributes .

You will have to use the text box. A lot will depend on how long the caption is. If it's a one-liner, I can usually deselect the wrap and squeeze it in the space between the picture and the main text. If it's several lines long you will have to use the wrap but you can reduce the extra space. Or try grouping it with the picture.

Reverse page order of PDF

Hi,
I need to reverse page order of a PDF file. I tried Preview and Automator but couldn't find right option.
Printer driver has a reverse order option but when I did Save As PDF, it doesn't seem to work.
I tried a utility called Moonwalk but it does not run on my system with no reason.
Any solution? I prefer Automator action but any idea will be welcome.
What I'm doing is scanning documents. My scanner has ADF but does not duplex scanning. Thankfully, Automator make it possible to combine odd and even pages but the even pages should be reversed before scanning. If there is an Automator action for it, it will be great.

I agree the tone was too sarcastic and perhaps below the belt - so my apologies.
It is so very frustrating to have to wade through pages of superfluous, and in many cases inane, chatter that getting to the heart of the matter is impossible.
As a case in point, we can't even PM each other which is why I have to add this post to a public thread - making the problem worse.
And really, the problem isn't people here, or even in OS X. The problem is Apple.
Apple have for some time become so cavalier and imperious to a such a degree that it grates when we are left to fend for ourselves in this manner. Of course they have always had a touch of the blue-stocking but it beggars belief that they are set to go the way of IBM, Microsoft and Nokia - these org's that have forgotten to treat the hand that feeds it with the respect it deserves. It may be that nobody is sticking up for Apple but adding red-herrings here is only making matters harder.
Let's face it, it's just so self-defeating that anything supposedly this good, ought take this level of involvement, just to do the blindly obvious. You'd expect this from things like Linux, Openoffice etc. where the effort relies mainly on volunteers (in their spare time to a large degree). But with the amount of dosh Apple sit on - and continue to take - it seems only too clear where this is going to end and no amount of the 'cool factor' is going to change that.
Something's gotta give - wish this stuff would work - just so fed up! :-(

Reverse page printing-not available with 10.5 & Photoshop CS2

Re printing images - With Tiger (10.4), I had the option for portrait, portrait reversed and landscape. When I upgraded to Leopard (10.5), I lost the portrait reversed. Instead there is a "reverse page orientation" square to check in the layout panel in SOME programs. It's there in Preview, but is NOT in Photoshop CS2 where I really need it. Oddly enough, in the summary panel (with Photoshop) reverse orientation is even mentioned as not turned on, even though there is no way for me to do it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make this work with my current setup? (10.5.8 & CS2)
Does 10.6 resolve this issue? (I realize that I can't install it on my current Power PC computer)
Do updated Photoshop versions (CS 3, 4 or 4) solve it?
In the next 4 - 5 months I'm planning to upgrade to a Mac Pro, but for now I'm trying to get the most I can out of this old computer. Problem is - I'm not sure if even the new system would give me what I had with 10.4. It's a shame to LOSE function with system upgrades, when one hopes for more function.

I confused the matter by saying reverse page printing rather than reverse page orientation (or reverse image) printing which is what I meant.
I use it for double sided printing in which I need the back side printed in reverse to come out properly.
The problem with using preview for printing is that I lose the dimension measurements which must be precise for the work I do.
But - that's a GREAT IDEA to save a reverse form of an image in PS, and then use that for my back side prints. I don't know why I didn't think of it myself, but THANK YOU for the insight. I appreciate the help very much

HP 8620 printer two sided printing reverses pages

Is there a way to change the order that this printer prints double sided prints? It prints last page first, so if it is 3 pages pages 2 & 3 are one page and page 1 is just one-sided. Need this to be reversed. Can you do this in the Mac driver?

I understand that you're experiencing issues when duplex printing from your Mac OS X 10.10 Computer to your HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer. I want to thank you for including all of the detail regarding the troubleshooting steps you have already completed in your posts. At this time I do believe that there is either a driver corruption on your computer with the HP Officejet, or an issue with the file that you're attempting to duplex. If multiple documents are experiencing the duplexing page order issue than that will rule out a corrupted document. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Step 1: Reset the Print System:
To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion' as the steps are the same for your Mac OS X 10.10 Operating System. This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Officejet back in at this time.
Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
Next, please click here for steps on how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' as they are the same for Mac OS X 10.10 and follow the steps to complete the uninstall process.
Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.
Step 3: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
Go to the Utilities Folder
Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
Go to Apple
Select System Preferences
Select Software Update
Click Update Now
Install your available updates
Restart your computer
Step 5: Add the Printer:
1. Please click here to download the correct drivers for your printer.
2. Once the website opens select the Download button on the top left
3. Once the download is complete, please follow the onscreen instructions to install your printer
4. Once the installation is complete, I would like you to check your driver to ensure that the HP Officejet driver is being used and not the AirPrint driver.
5. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
6. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list.
7. If your printer is already listed, remove and re-add the printer to confirm communication with the Mac. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer
8. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer
9. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that you have the HP Officejet driver selected and not the AirPrint.
10. Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Reverse Page Numbering

I need to create a saddle stitched booklet that will have 2 covers. It is for a training that is split in to two sections and we want to have the first session be pages 1-40 and then for the second session we would like participants to flip the book over to the other cover and proceed through pages 41-80 to the center on the booklet. I can do this by rotating the copy on the second half of the document and placing it in reverse order. The prolem is the page numbering. Is there a way to do it automatically. Could the files be set up in two separate files as normal files and then combined whey I output the booklet file? Any ideas.

This comes up from time to time. I would make two documents. If it's going to be commercially offset printed, I'd also let prepress impose them together, then it's their headache, but in any case, if you need to construct a single file for output, place the pages from one doc two into new pages added to doc one, starting from the back. If you use Scott Zanelli's Multi-page Importer Script, you can start at the first blank page and the script will import in reverse order and rotate 180 for you automatically if you say please.

Reverse Bank Statement Import

I am trying to test a reconciliation with a new bank account that we setup with a new process. I ran it the first time but the date on the "Clearing Date" field was wrong. So I need to delete the import and re-import the bank statement information. However, when I try to reimport it gives me the error "Statement Already Exists." I tried doing a purge with the concurrent requests but that didn't work.
I am working in our test system so I am not touching production data.
I would like to reverse (or delete the data from the tables) and then re=import the bank statement import and auto reconciliation package.

I guess this is one more to the yet long list of translation problems. What you say is also true for the "subpage" smartlink (it displays all versions of a same pages) for example ....
i'm afraid we'll hav to wait for a major update.

How do I get Pages to import references and post the information as a footnote from Logos Bible Software?

I want to move to the iPad as my only computer, but am a bit frustrated by the loss of some features in the IOS version of Pages. I need the ability to create structured outlines with footnote and endnote capability. Logos Bible Software imports many cross references and properly annotates passages that I copy and paste in Microsoft Word on my PC, but I cannot get pages to do the samething on my iPad. In fact I really miss the outline generation capability in Pages. Is this something that will be addressed? Are there workarounds?

Can't remove ghost object in Pages doc imported from Word

Hi there,
I imported a Word .docx into Pages '09 for it's better layout and figure handling capabilities.
I ran into a few issues with page numbers from Word being converted to background/master objects, but overcame that pretty easily.
The problem I now have, is that it seems one of the figures from the Word document has become some kind of unselectable ghost object. Which is only apparent because text is inexplicably wrapping around an empty space.
I've tried all the tricks I've found to select background and master objects with no luck. Has anyone encountered this before?
I'm attaching a jpeg of a screenshot of what the document is doing. Invisibles are on, so you can see that there aren't spaces, tabs, etc or an object. Yet the text is wrapping as if an object were there.
I've already made edits to the file, so I would really prefer not to have to delete figures from the Word file and re-import to Pages to fix this...

Ah great, it worked!
A warning to others, exporting to Rtfd and re-importing to Pages seems to have removed many of my tables and figures from the original document, in addition to the weird ghost figure. I was planning on cleaning up the figures anyway, so this is not a problem for me, but others who try this should be prepared to lose many (but not all, oddly) of their inserted objects.
