Revert ipad to earlier time?

I continue to have a difficult time with outlook mail program.  I messed around with passwords trying to fix problems and have made a mess of it.  Can I restore my ipad back to 30 days?  thanks. jazz

I think I remember discussing this one with you.
You can revert your settings to an earlier time if you have a backup that predates the mail problem. However, you have to have a backup that goes that far back. Most users don't have multiple backups but you can look and see if you do.
Without connecting the iPad - Launch iTunes and from the iTunes menu go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. You will see any and all iDevice backups in that window. If you have an older backup then you can restore from that. But turn off auto sync first. There a line at the bottom of that same window that says Prevent iPods, iPhines and iPads from syncing automatically. Check the box next to that, click OK, quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to your computer and you will have to start iTunes on your own. Right click on your iPad name in the left sidebar and select - Restore from Backup. You can select the backup in the window that pops up.
If you can't see the sidebar (if you are using iTunes 11) - from the iTunes menu go to View Show Sidebar.
Caution .... When you restore from a backup, you turn back the clock on every app on the iPad. Any current photos will be deleted, any app data will be reverted. If any of that is important to you, import your photos from the camera roll to the computer and transfer any documents that you do want to be reverted to your computer as well.

  • I want to revert my Macbook Pro 13" to earlier time?

Yesterday I mistakenly opened Entourage in Office 2008 and clicked on the MYDAY option. I just wanted to see it but never used or enabled Entourage. To my surprise, every-time I restarted the computer the stupid MYDay icon would appear in my Dock. I couldn't get rid of it. I finally put Entourage in the trash but the MYDAY icon continued to appear. I searched on spotlight and found a, I believe, MYDAY .pist file and threw that in the trash, at which point the icon no longer showed up. However, since then I have encountered an electrical clicking noise that randomly occurs. After disk repairing, verifying, etc, and finding no problems, I clicked on the mute button. When mute is enabled, no random clicking sound. But when I turn mute off, occasionally I will hear the electrical click noise. It's not all the time, but from time to time.
If I can't find the cause or it doesn't just go away, I would like to revert my system to an earlier time, say the day before yesterday. I don't use Time Machine on this computer, but I have Time Machine backups on my Imac. What is the safest and most sure way to revert the system on this computer to an earlier time without at the same time maybe carrying over the problem that may have been caused by yesterday's missteps. I read that perhaps my computer is from time to time trying to connect to MyDay or Entourage, even though they are apparently gone.
Additionally, yesterday my wifi station malfunctioned and my airport was, without me knowing it, constantly scanning and trying to connect. I realized this because Iphoto would freeze up every-time I used it and I would have to force quit to get out of it. When I turned Airport off, the problem no longer occurred.
Perhaps one of these two malfunctions above have cause this slight electrical clicking sound to start up. It isn't occurring very often now, but it is still disturbing when it starts.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

If you look below, I believe I heard this clicking sound and it was while in Safari. Something is said about not being able to find function pointer........etc. Perhaps this is not connected frequent log message. I was on my secure banking site at the time, but I've never had this problem before. The question is whether this is connected to my original description of the missteps that I thought led to the clicking. However, for example, there was no clicking at all for hours this morning. (I'm in France).

  • Time capsule keeps disconnecting intermittently. I have reverted to an earlier firmware (7.6.1) but I am still having an issue. Any suggestions?

My time capsule keeps disconnecting intermittently. I have reverted to an earlier firmware version (7.6.1) but this has not solved the problem. Any suggestions?

    Disconnecting what?
    Wireless?
    Internet?
Local lan? Hard disk in the TC?
    Pray be specific.
When it is disconnected how do you fix it?
If the computer is plugged in by ethernet and wireless turned off, does the problem stop?
There is a bug .. well several really in the networking of Mountain Lion.. which seems to be worse with the TC.
It will lose access to the hard disk on regular basis. and it is just that .. a bug.. a reboot of the TC fixes it.
Did you use all very short names for TC.. wireless and disk name?
Is the issue with Time Machine? Or what and how are you using the computer that causes the problem.
Pondini has listed several solutions or work arounds for TM. See C section of his KB. on troubleshooting.

  • At Mozilla's suggestion I reverted to an earlier version of Firefox but it still shows 3.6.12 how do I know which verison I have?

I have filled out crash reports, I have scanned all the questions, I have answered emails from Mozilla, I have deleted almost every Add On--many of which I liked...but only yesterday did I see a notice advising if I was still having problems to revert to an earlier verison of Firefox. The listing only gave me one option--compatible with Windows XP Service Pack II (I am running Windows 7, Home Premium 32 bit). I chose that option and other than having to "Allow Firefox to make changes to this computer" box appearing each time I launch, nothing seems different. I checked under Troubleshooting and the screen form reads I am running 3.6.12 !! (my nemesis).
So what version am I running? Is it still 3.6.12 but set for compatibility with Service Pack II for XP? That doesn't make sense. But Sync won't work still, the same sites show only text, et. etc.I dislike the the format of IE8, but it doesn't crash and it shows all my sites correctly. Is it better to just use that? I was about to download Firefox to my Android, but I think I'll stay with Google

To check your installed version, open FF, go to "Help" and click on "About Mozilla Firefox." The panel that is displayed will show your version.
If it shows 3.6.12, instructions for going back to an older version can be found at
    [[kb.mozillazine.org/Go_back_to_an_old_version_of_Firefox#Older_version]]
It will also give you links to two ftp sites with many older versions listed.

My ipad has upgraded to IO6, but is now no longer recognised on my mac (10.5.8) or my itunes (10.6.1). What can I do? Can I revert ipad back?

You can't downgrade the iOS on the iPad.
Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and reboot the iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

if this is the first time to happen in this version of the app. then it may just be a flaw with that version, if you have already un-installed and re-installed the app then it will just be a waiting game at this point until youtube hears and it and fixes it

  • How do I turn off automatic save? Or How do I revert to an earlier version of my file?

I just installed Lion. I use numbers, and I wish to revert to an earlier saved version of my numbers file, as I lost data (blank sheet this morning) last night. I did not close the file overnight, but did this morning in an effort to open an earlier version of the file. How do I open an earlier version of my numbers file? Can I do this only if I make continual "running" backups of the file, or is there a way that Lion saves an earlier version a la Time Machine. Thanks much. Vince

We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
Have you tried closing all apps via the iPad's multitasking bar and then doing a soft-reset and seeing that helps ? To close all apps :
iOS 7: double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag each app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
iOS 6 and below : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Syncing only ONE iPad at a time and auto-checkin frustration

Good morning, I am trying to update my class set of iPads using configurator but when I plug the iPads in, the sync and charge cart will only update ONE iPad at a time (even through I'm connecting 7 devices at a time).  The other 6 iPads are showing as being connected but are left hanging with the message "trying to authorise apps".  I can consistently update one iPad at a time but I can't do a batch (or all).  Any tips?
Also, when I connect the iPads, it skips the prepare stage and goes straight to supervise.  It automatically checks the iPads in and starts checking for iOS updates etc.  This is when it will update the ONE iPad only.  It goes ahead and deletes everything off the ipad and then reinstalls everything - which is fine except that I've added additional apps.  I have to wait for it to finish going through this process (20 minutes later) and then I can go in and select the new apps and the backup configuration - but then I have to wait another 22 minutes.
Please help me ... someone!  This is very frustrating.  I'd appreciate any tips.  Sincerely, Anne

    @dananova,
It sounds like you need to either increase the number of dynamic IP addresses your router will hand out or change some of your devices to static IP addresses.
Check the router manual on how to change the dynamic IP range of your router.  If you don't have a manual, you can go to Belkin's website and download it.
To change the IP address of your iPads to static addresses, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and tap the ">" next to the name of your wireless network.  DHCP should be highlighted.  Write down the all the settings on the screen. Next tap the Static button.  Enter the exact same information that you copied from the DHCP screen with the exception of the last 3 digits of the IP address.  Enter a new 3 digit number in this spot.  Generally the original IP address will end with a low number such as 009, so pick a number that is not that low but less than 255.  I would suggest a range of 240 to 250, unless the original IP range falls near this range.  Also make sure you use a different 3 digits for each device you set to use a static IP address.

  • Can I backup my Ipad directly to Time Capsule

Is there a way to backup an Ipad without connecting directly to a Mac or PC?

can I backup my iPad directly to Time Capsule?
    In a word, no.
The iPad backs up to iTunes on your Mac or PC. Then, the Mac backs up in turn using Time Machine to the Time Capsule.
Your other option is to backup the iPad using iCloud.
See this Apple support document for complete info on iOS backups:

  • I have yosemite on my iMac.Can i restore to an earlier time from my external hard drive when i had Mavericks installed?

Hi all. I have Yosemite on my iMac. Can i restore via my external hard drive to an earlier time when i had Mavericks on my iMac? If i can which operating system will i end up with? I would like to do this because i prefer Mavericks to Yosemite. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've never seen that problem, but others have reported it. Maybe you should search for those other topics. You might try the following:
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Then download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite.
Then download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Creating external boot disk from an earlier time?

I've put a lot of progs on my MBP. No probs with that, but for my work, should it ever go down, I'd like to have a boot-able external drive with only the progs I need at the time so I can be back up and running asap. (Yes, I know I should have thought of this earlier.)
I could uninstall all the new stuff, create a boota-ble drive, then re-install...
    but I don't want to.
So is there a way to create a boot-able drive from an earlier time using TM? so that, for instance, it could boot up to what it used to be a month ago? In theory all the data is there in TM to do just that...
    or
Here's a workaround: Can I take the MBP to a month ago and create a boot-able drive, then use TM to come back to the present?

Try restoring from the previous TM backup to a clean disk or partition. Then use SuperDuper or CarbonCopy Cloner to create a bootable clone.

  • How do I transfer my pictures and videos from my iPhone and IPad on the time capsule?

How do I transfer my pictures and videos from my Iphone and IPad onto my time capsule?

You cannot use Apple TV.. again the TC is not a media device and has no media extensions.
You can store video files on the TC.. but the ATV must work either via airplay so you run the video on an ipad for instance and send the screen view to the apple tv or you have itunes running on a computer.
BTW a WD live TV can play video files from a TC.. because it is a true media player.. the Apple TV is not a media player.. it is a streamer.
