Reverted back to 8.1 from Windows 10 but desktop doesn't display now....

I just reverted back to Windows 8.1 because I was having issues with 10.  It looked like everything would be fine but now the desktop doesn;t show up.  I can move the cursor around and press control alt delete and use the options there but thats about it.   I was trying to boot the computer into recovery but I can't figure out how to do it.  I'd restore the computer to factory settings if I could at this point.  Is there a comand or anything I can run in task manager to do anything?   I am currently on hold with HP but that's going to be a long wait so any help would be appreciated. Edit:  I spoke to support and they were unable to fix the issue so we did a factory reset.  Luckily it was a new computer and what was on there was backed up already so no big deal.  I was trying to figure out how to delete this topic so if an admin wants to feel free to just delete it as no one commented or viewed it.

F11 would do the trick to restore the computer back to manufacture settings as long your restore partition drive is not disturb and to edit or delet the topic would be at your upper right corner above your post and you click on edit which i can not remember and you have to be logged in to edit your post

  • To revert back a transport request from prd to dev server

    hi experts
how to revert back a transport request from prd server to
        dev server?
a transport request has been wrongly transported
and it has make major changes in production server,
now  we want to revert back that request , we know the   request no.
    regards
    pankaj

All you have to do is create an order of transport type "Transport of copies" in PRO.
I give you the steps to follow:
    1. Go to SE01 and create a new order (remember the type "Transport of copies").
    2. Enter the data of the order of transport that is going to come back.
    3. Enter the target, here is where you asign the target system to carry the request.
    4. Now just add the number of request to the new request you just created.
    5. Finally released the request from this transaction.
    6. Check on the queue of transport in DES, the request must appear there.
    I hope you serve =)

  • Skill Search works fine from search center, but it doesn't work from Lync client

My environment consists of Lync Server 2013 and SharePoint Server 2013.
I configured skill search and it works fine from search center, but it doesn't work from Lync client. An error appears says"error occurred during the search, please try again".
I configured these URLs in my client policy
    set-csclientpolicy -identity global -spsearchinternalurl http://<Sharepoint Server>/_vti_bin/search.asmx
    set-csclientpolicy -identity global -spsearchcenterinternalurl http://<Sharepoint Server>/searchcenter/pages/peopleresults.aspx
I checked these URLs from the browser and they work fine.
I disabled anonymous access to _vti_bin, but no change then i checked lync log but i didn't find any error then i used Wireshark and found that when Lync client contacts Sharepoint, Sharepoint responded to it with internal server error http 500
Please advice for what to do

  • How to revert back to Snow Leopard from Lion?

Foolishly I just jumped straight in, downloaded Lion and installed it, and well... I really don't like it.  It's not a patch on SL.
So I'm trying to work out the best way of reverting back to Snow Leopard.
    I have:
    My Snow Leopard install disc.
A SuperDuper, bootable backup from 48 hours pre-upgrade.
A Time Machine backup from 48 hours pre-upgrade.
I'm fairly sure that just putting the SL install disc in, isn't going to work.
I think I have a couple of options.
    1. Erase the hard drive completely, and then do a fresh SL install, then restore the last TM backup.
    2. Boot from the SuperDuper backup, then restore the last TM backup.
I'd prefer option 1, as this gives me a clean install (I hope).
Before I go ahead, can anyone:
    a) See any problems with carrying this out, or
    b) Suggest a better, safer method?
I'm a bit concerned that SL was an upgrade to an existing OS, rather than a complete OS in itself, so I'm very wary of what might happen if I wipe the drive then put the disc in, hoping it'll give me a nice new version of SL.  Might need to go and do a bit more reading up.
    Thanks.

    For ref.
Dragged and dropped copies of important files (Docs, Pictures, Downloads, Movies etc) to a spare drive.
Printed off any docs that I absolutely could not afford to lose.
    Shut down Mac.
Attached USB drive with SuperDuper backup, and powered up drive.
Powered up Mac, and immediately pressed the option key.
From the window that popped up, chose my USB drive as the boot disk and pressed return.
Mac powered up running Snow Leopard from USB drive.
Started Disk Utility, and erased the disk labelled 250.06 GB Fujitsu.... etc  In the 'name' field, entered 'Macintosh HD'
Started up SuperDuper! and copied my backup over Macintosh HD.
Incidentally, the first step it took was to erase Macintosh HD anyway, so I could probably have skipped the first erase.
Let SuperDuper! do it's thing for 90 mins.
Once it had completed, closed the machine down (it wouldn't let me eject the USB drive, as presumably it was still using that as the boot disc).
Detached and powered off USB drive.
Pressed Mac power button and crossed fingers...
And goodbye annoying Lion, hello again, good old Snow Leopard!
Didn't even need to restore the last Time Machine backup.
I may take another look at Lion again, further down the road, when hopefully Apple will have realised that OS X and iOS are two completely different animals, and that we don't all want our Macs behaving like our iPads.
For now though, I'm sticking with SL.

  • Can I revert back to Snow Leopard from Mountain Lyon ?

Since updateing to Snow leopard my computer has become very slow.  The nice man at the White Cathedral said it was because of the age of my computer (bought 2007) and he wouldn't advice me to update to this level.  I now wish to revert back to Snow Leopard.  Is it Possible and how do you do it.  I have a complete Time Machine backup on an external drive.
My computer is an iMac, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB SDRAM.

Thanks to everyone for their help.  It would appear that I want be able to access my documents from the Mountain Lion Time Machine backup disk after I have reverted to Snow Leopard.  I guess I'm just stuck with a very slow machine.

  • How do I revert back to Snow Leopard from OS Lion without losing files etc

I need to revert back as my work VPN cannot operate with the java cocoa version that is part of safari due to the OS Lion upgrade I performed.  I have done a ton of work on my system in the last week and don't want to lose any of it - and no I didn't use time machine.  HOw much am I going to lose when I uninstall Lion and then reinstall Leopard?
Thank so much for your help,
    cmw

First, do a full backup of your current system.
Reformat your hard drive's main partition that you want to revert to Snow Leopard from Lion. This will delete EVERYTHING on the partition, which is why you need to do the backup first.
Reinstall Snow Leopard from the installer media you own.
Download then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Combo Updater.
Run Software Update repeatedly until there are no updates left to install.
    Reinstall all your third-party applications.
Connect the backup you made of the Lion system and copy over your data. You should only have to copy over the files you know about within your own user account folder.
If you do this right, you'll have everything back in Snow Leopard with no loss. If you do it wrong, well, that's another reason we made a backup all the way back in the beginning of this process - you can always start over.

  • Reverting Back to Lightroom 5 from CC

I currently have LR 5 and PSE. If I go to CC, and find I don't use the CC features enough for the cost, can I revert back to LR 5, upgrade just LR5 to 6, and cancel my CC?  Will I lose anything, such as work I did in CC?

The files created in CC can not be opened in LR5 but they can be accessed & worked upon in LR6.

  • Reverting back to Mountain Lion from Mavericks via Time Machine?

    Hi all
I'm wondering if anybody has successfully downgraded from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion. I am fed up with all the bugs with Mavericks...I should never have upgraded. However, I did make a system backup via Time Machine before upgrading. I'm not sure if it is possible to go back, though. Has anyone successfully done it via Time Machine? I'm also having trouble getting to the restore menu - I have a PC keyboard (which works fine for the Mac), but it doesn't do anything when I hit Command (well, the PC equivalent) + R or Option when I restart. The only thing that seems to work is Command+Option+R, which takes me to the Internet recovery, though I'm not sure if I can go back to my old system via Time Machine on that. Anyway, would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Boot OS X Recovery by holding ⌘ r (two fingers) while you start your Mac. OS X Internet Recovery, which you were able to invoke with your non-Apple keyboard, will work just as well.
Once the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, select Restore from Time Machine Backup.
Select the TM backup of your Mountain Lion system prior to upgrading - their backup dates and OS X versions will appear, so you will be looking for the most recent backup of your system when it was running OS X version 10.8.5.
When it completes, your Mac will restart and your previous system state will have been restored. After that, uninstall any third party software and system modifications incompatible with Mavericks before contemplating an upgrade.

  • IPad 1 reverts back to first screen from any program.

my ipad1 closes my safari or any regular app i'm working on and reverts back to iPads first screen.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

  • I just moved to Mac from Windows and my desktop is still visible when I use Photoshop.

Most people who switch from Windows to Mac find it unsettling to see the desktop when they start Photoshop. This is the way Mac works and has since the beginning. What you are looking for is the Application Frame. This is a new feature in CS4. You can find it towards the bottom of the Windows menu.
If you are using a version prior to CS4 there is no Application Frame. You can change your desktop to gray; many do this; or you can hit the f Key for Maximized mode and once more for Fullscreen mode. This is the closest to the Application Frame in CS3 and earlier versions.
CS3 is the only version with the Maximized mode, but all have the Fullscreen mode.

I dont know the answer yet, but i have noted what appears to be a bug in 10.9 in how it handles folder dates.  Right now i am seeing folder modified dates changing randomly ot "today" - whatever date the parent folder was opened.
In the past my folders "modified" date was always the same as the last modified date of the items within.  But this only moved down ONE level - if a subfolder's entries were updated the "gradfather" folder did not update.
But now severa people are reporting random, incorrect folder dates. I hoep this will be corrected soon, but who knows?
