Reverting to 1.1 software?

Can't wait any longer for Apple to fix the Smart Playlist bug. How do I revert back from the flawed 1.2 to the good 1.1? Three months waiting and I've given up on this - it's hopeless!
• How do I do it?
• Disadvantages? Does it play well with iTunes 5.0x?
Thanks...

It is easy to do ... simply
1. Sync your iPod w/ your iTunes;
2. Run iPod Updater 2005-03-23 and do a Factory restore;
Disadvantages? No direct Podcast support ... You can play podcasts, but they appear simply as songs in the playlist genre. Because of this I simply disabled podcast syncing to my iPod. I understand there is a chkdsk corruption problem w/ this release, but I have yet to experience it.
Upside?
1. No more iPod lockups;
2. No more draining of the battery;
3. Smart Play lists work;
It was a no-brainer for me.
My iPod works fine with iTunes 4.9, 5.0 and 5.0.1. I do get nagged about updating the firmware in my iPod, but I don't sync that often (thus the need for Smart Play lists working), so it's not a big deal for me.
Best,

    I installed Lion and now my MS office will not work, is there a way to revert back my original software?

    Back to Snow Leopard from Lion install method
    Read and print out these instructions, your computer is going to be offline and you wil be cutoff from help until your machine is restored.
    Clear the Desktop, Downloads and Trash of anything you wish to keep by placing their files in the respective Documents, Music, Pictures, Movie folders.
    If you have a TimeMachine drive, update it and disconnect for the duration of this restore time. It will be your second backup system and will have to be wiped and setup again after successfully going back to Snow Leopard if it was connected to the OS X 10.7 boot drive. If it wasn't, then leave it disconnected without updating to Lion.
    Backup ALL your Users folders (Documents, Pictures, Movies, Music etc) manually (drag and drop methods) to a (not TimeMachine) external powered drive (HFS+ journaled formatted in Disk Utility) and disconnect, your going to be wiping the entire disk of ALL DATA. (warning, everything will be gone and not recovered)
    Here we go!
    Hold c and boot off the 10.6 installer disk that comes with your computer and second screen in just STOP.
    Look at the Utilities Menu for Disk Utility.
    On the left is the name of your hard drive maker, click it and Erase (format HFS+ Journaled), give it the same name as before, and click Erase...
    This should wipe the drive of ALL partitions (GUID, OS X and 10.7 Recovery, Windows if present)
    When it's done, quit and install OS X 10.6. Then install all your programs from fresh sources and validate/update.
    When you setup a first account, use the same user name as before, this way you can simply drag and drop the content of your previous Users folders from the external drive right back into the new Users folders and everything should work peachy. Links in iTunes to music, playlists and iPhoto links especially.
    Update OS X to 10.6.8 using the Combo Update for best results.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
    (Note: If your original machine had 10.5 and you want the free iLife that comes with the disks with the computer, then you'll have to install 10.5 first using the same c boot/erase/format methods as above, then update to 10.6 via the disk, then Combo Update 10.6.8)
    Final step optional but highly receommended.
    A lot of people use a Carbon Copy Clone of their boot drive to a HFS+Journaled external drive as a "hold the option key" bootable backup in case something goes wrong with their boot drive or need to restore to a previous OS X version..  (in addition to TimeMachine drive for more immediate backups.)
    It's not advised to have a Bootable Clone and a TimeMachine partition on the same external drive, as two drives gives hardware protection in case one fails.

  • Reverting to older iTunes software

    I can't stand the new iTunes format, how do i revert to the previous more understandable version I was using?  I can't figure out how to synch any of my audiobooks for example. It took me 20 minutes to figure out how to select what I wanted synced on to my phone, I'm done with this version.  I don't want to re-learn how to use software I had already mastered.

    The last I knew, I think it should be in the same place in Vista, Win-7 and 8, the iTunes folder for me was
    C:/Users/**user name**/My Music/iTunes
    Dont know why it didnt find it in search... Just a little while ago I added the directions on fixing the "iTunes Library.itl" to restore the files...Is whould be thatlast post on the thread... I will Copy-N-Past all the important info to here (including the original Directions for redownloading the .exe files for iTunes 10.7).

    FIRST: Is the dirrections to downgrade from 11 to 10.7
    SECOND: Is the dirrections to changing the .itl files
    (Please read and understand my warning before attempting to make any changes to your computer, some have sugested to make a backup of the iTunes Library files... I did not, but I probably should have. I do NOT dtake responsability to anything that YOU do to YOUR computer) Thanks, -Spencer1181

    How I successfully ended up going back to 10.7 (following is the process I used to do it, as well as the references I used)
    WARNING: By attempting to follow the procedures that I used... you acknowledge that if there are any purchases lost during the downgrade you take sole responsibility... I took the risk because I have my music on CD's, I regularly backup my apps to CD... and if I lose anything I will replace it myself (even if I have to repurchase it)
    -It took a while, but it worked out...
    1. I downloaded the iTunes 10.7 installer (iTunes 64bit: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1577).
         [ iTunes 10.7 32bit: (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576) ]
    2. I uninstalled iTunes 11 and restarted my computer.
    3. I installed iTunes 10.7 (when installed I was unable to run because the "iTunes Library.itl" file in my computer was from the iTunes 11 program)   I did a file search for "iTunes Library.itl" and opened the file location (my file was located in: C:/Users/Spencer/Music/iTunes)
    -[Note: Community thread that gave me the info I needed to resolve the "iTunes Library.itl" error: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20447382#20447382]
    4. I "right clicked" on the folder Named "Previous iTunes Libraries" and opened in new window.
    5. I located the most current file (prior to the 11 upgrade) and drag and dropped it into the location of the "current" .itl file renamed it to "iTunes Library.itl" and replaced the one that iTunes 11 created. (if you DO NOT delete/replace the .itl file that 11 created with a 10.7 version, iTunes will not open. If done RIGHT,you can now open iTunes and you'll immediately see your playlists where they belong)
    -If done right, it should be sucessfully rolled back to before the upgrade.

    When your trying to restore your previous Library w/Playlists, You will Need to:
    1."Delete" the "iTunes Library.itl" In your Library Folder.
    --->(Located: C:/Users/**user name**/My Music/iTunes)
    2. Go to the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder
    --->(Located: in the iTunes folder mentioned above)
    3. In your instance you will "Right-click" the File named "itunes Library 2012-10-18.itl" and Select "COPY"
    ***Leaving everything else alone...***
    4. Go back to the iTunes Folder
    --->(where you deleted the "iTunes Library.itl" file)
    5. In the iTunes folder, "Right -Click" in on an empty spot and select "Paste"
    6. Now there should now be a new file in the iTunes folder named "itunes Library 2012-10-18.itl"
    7. All you need to do now is to rename that file (That you just "Pasted")
    ------>From: "iTunes Library 2012-10-18.itl"
    ------>To:      "iTunes Library.itl"
    (Basically just deleting the Date)

  • Revert to apple for software updates

    Hello,
    I set a Leopard Macbook to look at our Tiger server for updates not realizing that Tiger does not pull down Leopard specific updates. I set this with Software Update Enabler, and have tried to restore defaults but it still attempts to pull from our server instead. Is there a way to revert back to the Apple Servers for this?
    Thanks,
    JerLaw

    You need to remove all traces of the third party app "Software Update Enabler". If this information is not contained in any documentation, you will need to contact the developer.
    Always beware of any third party software that does not have enough documentation to allow you to remove it.

  • Revert Back to Old Software Nokia 701

    how can i get the old software for nokia 701 back as front camera doesn't work even after downloading scam free
    Moderator's note: Appropriate subject provided.

    Unfortunately there is no possibility to downgrade. If you do an update via PC by using Nokia Suite, you can nevertheless re-install the latest version again in case you had problems. In your case, I would suggest checking other applications on the Nokia Store.

  • How to revert to older software to play ipod  in car stereo

    I have a Classic I-pod with software version 3.1.1. The manual for my Pioneer DEH-P310UB car stereo says it will play the Classic I-pod version 1.1.2. Can I revert my I-pod software back to 1.1.2 in order to play it in the car? I'm going on a long road trip and wish to play this I-pod on the road.

    Yes I do have a Classic, it's not a nano, it doesn't take photos, and I got it for Christmas 2004.
    The iPod classic was not even released until October 2007.
    The iPod Photo (or 4th gen iPod) and iPod with color display do not take photos but can display photos.
    it tells me the software is 3.1.1
    Yes, because the iPod Photo (or 4th gen iPod) uses firmware 3.1.1. The iPod classic (120 GB iPod) uses version 2.
    The iPod classic (80GB & 160GB) use version 1.1.2.
    Is it possible to revert to 1.1.2?
    Possibly but the manual you are reading is not referring to version 1.1.2 for the iPod Photo (4th gen).
    It is referring to version 1.1.2 for the iPod classic (which are only the 80GB/160GB models).
    If your iPod does not have a 80/160/120Gb drive, it is not an iPod classic. It is a regular iPod.
    See this -> Identifying iPod models

  • I updated the software on my ipad2 at work and now it won't connect via wifi

    The 3G works fine and the device connects to the router ok but there is no Internet access

    There is no way to revert to the old software. I doubt that your problem has anything to do with iOS level 4.3.5 per se. It might be an artifact of the update process itself.
    Try the following:
    Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address via DHCP and you won't be able to access the Internet.
    Reset network settings on your iPad (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect.
    Does your iPad connect to other networks?
    If the problem persists do a restore to original on your iPad and recover to the backup.

  • Can I reinstall software without losing iTunes library?

    No probs with my 20 GB color iPod until I updated new software. There's a moral there somewhere...anyhow, after a brief problem where the PC wouldn't recognise the iPod and the iPod software couldn't be updated, the iPod today spontaneously froze couldn't hear any of the music. Reconnected to the PC, again no recognition and tried resetting - hey presto the iPod seems to have RESTORED so the whole library has gone. Tried switching USB ports to no avail, I can hear the connection sound but iTunes still won't recognise the iPod.
    The iPod settings seem to have reverted back to default - software 1.2.1 (but capacity 0 kb and format unknown is that normal?). I'm tempted to reinstall the original software but don't want to lose the 1600+ songs in the library...any ideas?

    You can uninstall iTUnes and not loose any songs or playlist. You need to stay with the current version tho.
    Goto control panel> add and remove and uninstall iTUnes AND quicktime.
    Disable Antivirus, then goto apple.com and download/install the latest version of iTUnes.

  • Can I get the prevoius software back on my phone? I cannot stand this new upgrade. Its awful.

    So I did the recent upgrade on the phone 7.0.4. CANT STAND IT. I wish to revert to the older software. Is there a way to get it back? I have always been an apple fan, never had issues with the upgrades, but this is so awful I may look to another phone. It is slow, I do not like the calandar, how to text pictures, I cant facetime anymore & cant seem to reset it, I dont like how the home button does not bring me back..... I could go on and on. So, is there a way?

    So all of my problems began when I upgraded to 7.0.4.
    One of thie things I always loved about Apple was it was seamless. Its not now. I am so bummed. What I was saying above is that I do not like the way you send pics now, I dont like the small grey letters in the calandar ect. I cannot get the phone to face time. It used to. Now it wont. So, the program is not seamless & not easy to fix. I dont want to have to get an upgrade & then try to fix a bunch of things. Thanks you for your comments- unfortunately its several things foing on. Thants why I was hoping to go & get the old version. But I see that I have missed the opportunity. Darn.
    Merry Christmas.

  • What Type Of Software Do NEW Customers to BT Visio...

    I was asked for advice regrding a friend moving to BT from another provider and having btvision with his package. Note: Not a Youview package.
    I couldnt give him my advice as I need to know the following:
    1(A) If he got his bt vision box NOW, at this instant in time, will his bt vision box operate on the NEW software straight out of the box ?? (B) If so, can he choose to revert to the OLD software once connected ???
    2(A) If he got his bt vision box NOW, at this instant in time, will his bt vision box operate on the OLD sofware out of the box ?? (B) If so, will he then go on the list for the compulsary Software update and await the dreaded email ???
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    It looks as though there are a lot of good things coming soon to BT Vision, including extra channels not on Freeview.
    Unfortunately, at the moment it's a bit of a shambles.  The new stuff isn't here yet, and the new software is buggy and unreliable.

  • How can I un-install Symbian Anna software from C6

    I have updated my nokia c6 device software with Symbian Anna software after that I have facing problem. I want to un-install (revert back to original software) the update.
    Please help me in this.
    Thanks in Advance.

    This question has been answered many times and it boils down to this... if you have a really compelling reason to do the downgrade and state your case to Nokia support there is a small chance that they will accomodate you.  Otherwise you're left to deal with the problem on your own and it is generally not recommended that you fool with flashing yourself.  It's risky and unsupported.

  • HT4428 Since updating the software to version 5.3 I have been unable to use my Apple TV due to HDCP issue.

    Since updating the software to version 5.3 I have been unable to use my Apple TV due to an HDCP issue. I have eliminated the HDMI cable as the problem problem. My Television is HDCP compliant. And prior to updating my Apple TV to the current version all content was availble and streaming beautifully.

  • How do I downgrade to old version of ipod software?

    I'm relatively clueless, and frustrated. We have yet to update our Windows XP 2002 to service pack 2 because of problems we had when we last updated. But, I received a ipod nano (8 GB "red" if that makes a difference) as a gift and would like to use it! Problem is after initially working well, then wierd stuff started happening, so I went to the Apple store and they suggested I upgrade ipod software and itunes, which I did and now the computer cannot even see my ipod. I called for help and they wouldn't tell me how to revert to old ipod software, but I don't even know which version I had and now need to be compatible with service pack 1. I should also revert to an older version of itunes, but again, which one? And, how do I do these changes? Thanks for any advice

    The way iTunes 11 treats audiobooks hasn't changed, but you may have to hunt a little for some of the menu options... You may also find Audiobooks on iPods useful.
    You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
    ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
    CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
    CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
    CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
    If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
    If you still feel the need to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
    See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
