What all tools (MS and Non-MS) are available to Review and document existing SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 Environment? I am aware of following:

Autodoc (is it still available)
What all should be included in such a review and recommendations?

Is there a way to change an existing SCCM 2012 site server intranet FQDN name to lowercase?

Does anyone know if there is a way to change the intranet (not internet) FQDN name of an existing SCCM 2012 site server to all lowercase letters? You used to be able to do this in SCCM 2007.

I had a problem with WSUS updates not working via SCCM 2012 R2 during an operating system deployment. When examining the c:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log I found the following errors:
WARNING: SendRequest failed with hr = 80072ee2. Proxy List used: <****:8080;****:8080> Bypass List used : <(null)> Auth Schemes used : <>

After a LONG time researching this error I found it was related to the fact we were using a WPAD proxy implementation and apparently this doesnt cope well with uppercase characters for the WSUS server URL. I changed our GPO to be using lowercase lettering
but when examining the WindowsUpdate log again it still showed as being in uppercase. In the end I found that despite what your GPO setting says, this can get over written by the SCCM site server's own published WSUS location. You can check this by entering
the following command:
wmic /namespace:"\\root\CCM\SoftwareUpdates\WUAHandler" PATH CCM_UpdateSource
Unfortunatelty in SCCM 2012 there is no GUI way to amend the intranet FQDN used for the WSUS location so I then turned to directly editing the database (which anyone will tell you is not recommended, but by this point i was DESPERATE!).
In the end it solved all my troubles so if anyone finds themselves in this situation, you can fix it by going to the SCCM database and within the table 'WSUSServerLocations', change the WSUSServerName to be in lowercase letters.

Prestage content no longer working after SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 update

I run SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 on a Windows 2008 R2 server.
I upgraded to CU1 in June, and today is the first time I've attempted to pre-stage a package since then. After pre-staging my package and getting the content out to the target DP, I went to properties of the DP, checked the box "Enable this
distribution point for prestage content", then hit Ok.
Next I went to distribute the content to the DP, however after going thru the wizard, nothing changes. There is no pending status, waiting on prestage content, that I had seen in the past when doing this task. I can go in and run the wizard
again, and the target DP shows up in the list, like I'd never initiated the push before.
Normal (non-prestaged) distributions work fine.
In troubleshooting this, I also noticed that I looking at the site status of the target DP, there are no status message entries for since I upgraded to CU1 (for that matter, none of my DP's have any entries since CU1). I did see a similar issue like
this in the forums

Execute report error SCCM 2012 R2 CU1

Hello guys, my Customer have a SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 all part of SCCM is working exept the reporting.
I have install the reporting role and the installation succeeded on install but when I run any of the report we have an error:

Yes but, where is the place to add name and password? I have use the same account that I have take to install sccm. I have seted the name when i have installed the report role is it the place you talked?

This is known to happen if you modified any of the default reports
I've seen that happening even in my lab (and and customers) where I am sure that I did not modify them. Just delete them (they should be prefixed with "_").

Update membership is taking too long to update members in the collection - SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1

Hi,
We have a standalone primary site server hierarchy (SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1), Not only with this upgrade.starting from the SCCM 2012 SP1, We had an issue that members in the collections are not being updated as expected (like SCCM 2007).
I have created about 20+ query based collections with the normal with the "Full schedule" option but not used "Incremental update" option. Also i have observed that after a day or so..members are appearing.
anyone had solution to this, why this collection update membership in SCCM 2012 is improper?

Hi Torsten,
We have about 25 machines in each collection, My collection condition is based on the package (Ex:if the package is not installed on the machine, it will appear in the collection to target the package),
WQL query looks good, I have used the same logic for all the collections with different package.
I did not see any error in colleval.log, all the collections are evaluating properly,but I can see .CEP files in COLLEVAL.BOX which has 0 KB size.
Any Idea?

SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 to CU5?

We're running SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 now. I wonder what the biggest advantages/reasons would be to upgrade to CU5 (have read some of the release notes but am curious what your opinon is on this topic).

CU4 is the latest cumulative update for R2.
Organizations should plan to regularly apply cumulative updates to deal with known issues in the product. Remember that the release notes only cover major changes - there are often dozens or more changes not listed in the KB article. Don't wait to experience
the pain - fix the known issues.

SCCM 2012 SP1 CU1 Exchange connector error

I made a thread about unmanageable devices. I had this error too after updating my environement. In my scenario this particular error only occured after I updated to Exchange 2013 CU1. Therefore I believe this error is an Exchange related bug.
SCCM 2012 with Exchange 2013 gave me this error:
ERROR: [MANAGED] Invoking cmdlet Set-ActiveSyncMailboxPolicy failed. Exception: System.Management.Automation.RemoteException: A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'IsDefaultPolicy'.
SCCM 2012 CU1 with Exchange 2013 gave me the same error:

WinPE Error Capture and Deploy Win7 - SCCM 2012 R2 w/ CU1

Deploy and Capture: Windows 7 x64
SCCM Primary single site server: Server 2012 R2
Version: SCCM 2012 R2 w/ CU1
Environment is Hyper-V on Windows 8.1, deploying to a Gen1 VM with a legacy adapter.
I am running into an issue whilst building a lab environment. I have built a Capture and Deploy TS (using the standard TS, ie not MDT although this is integrated) and deployed to an imported machine using the MAC address via PXE. Custom Client package has
been created and put against the TS.
The machine picks up the PXE response and boots into the SCCM WinPE environment and I choose the TS. The only currently available TS is the Build and Capture.
It runs through the TS restarting at various points as expected and then after the Client Manager package is installed it restarts and runs the TS... at this point it starts saying. "Initiating Hardware Devices.." (or something to that effect).
It does this for about 15 seconds before I get this error:
Windows PE initialization failed with error code 0x8022001B

I am unable to get the cmd prompt up at this point and it will restart and carry on a normal build, no TS running, meaning no capture.
If any can advise, please do.

Hyper-V should work fine without any drivers injected, and you did your VM correctly.
During this error, what you see in a back ground, ConfMgr wallpaper or Windows 7 black first-run screen "preparing/first run"? I´m just thinking, is there any chance, that you have additional restart step set to boot to WinPE, instead of booting
to default OS?
Otherwise, you will need to be able to Access CMD with F8 for more troubleshooting. Make sure you have F8 command Support enabled on boot image and re-distrubute it. Or create new boot image as Peter suggested.

Have Existing SCCM 2012 Config mgr and want to build new config mgr

I inherited an environment that had an SCCM 2012 Configuration Manager server setup and migrated from 2007 I believe. It is very polluted and not setup correctly to utilize any of the new features. Everything I try to implement either does not
work or throws errors.
I would like to remove this server from the environment and stand up a new SCCM 2012 server. Is this possible to do easily?

Yes this is possible, but I wouldn't call it easy. You've got to rebuild your environment and if you're not migrating your old objects, like your packages, it can be a lot of work. Also, don't forget that you'll also have to bring all your clients to your
new environment.

Install Updates task not working during Build and Capture in SCCM 2012

Working with a new SCCM 2012 installation.
We are trying to get a Build and Capture TS to install all updates for Win7SP1.
All packages are deployed to DP, build and cap machine is in a collection with all updates deployed to it. Agent installation parameters include "SMSMP" "SMSSLP" parameters. Machine is not being attached to the domain during OS install.
Updates can be pushed to existing domain machines, so obviously the updates themselves are working.
The task sequence works correctly to install the image, but "Install Updates" task just sits there and eventually times out. (No indication of updates being installed.) If this task is working, shouldn't I see a Downloading Updates progress bar, or was that
eliminated from 2012?

Same issue for me except I'm running 2012 R2 my B&C runs forever on Install Software Updates, eventually just rebooting and coming back to the login screen of Windows 7 without ever finishing the Install Updates.
Been working on it litteraly for weeks.
1- Tried adding .Net 4.52 as an application installation thinking maybe it would resolve the issue
2- Tried installing via Run Command Line + DISM all hotfixes that require 2 reboots as per (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2894518)
3- Tried to simply REMOVE the same hotfixes from my Software Update Groups alltogether.
4- Injected all applicable software updates through Offline Servicing in the SCCM Console (Schedule Updates) on the Windows 7 DVD wim file. That way my logic was that once it would hit the Software Updates, there would be a lot less to install.
I'm at the point where I had to open a case with Microsoft Premier Support as of yesterday. So, nothing new to report yet. But yes, this is a true pain in the ***.
For the sake of comparison, I am running 4 Update Groups: one containing patches up to 2012. Another one for 2013, 2014 and 2015. I have patches for Windows 7 + Office of all categories except Service Packs.
If someone has any ideas, feel free to chime in.

IBCM Migrating existing SCCM 2012 Clients

Hi, We have in our current environment 120,000 endpoints configured on CAS with 3 Primary sites. All the clients are currently setup for SCCM 2012.
We started new project to introduce IBCM in the environment and here is the question on the clients, what is needed to setup the existing clients for IBCM, so basically when connected on the "Intranet" they will use infrastructure on the Intranet
and when connected to the "Internet" they would use our infrastructure we installed in the DMZ with Public DNS entries etc....
what I like to understand is what is needed on the existing clients to configure them to be IBCM aware.
I've done some testing in my Dev environment and managed to configure client using https and PKI Certs.
Few questions on this
New Client Installation parameters
currently we have installed all our clients using following command line "/Service SMSSITECODE=AUTO" I've left out the other parameters but basically the current clients are not IBCM aware
New install command I'm using: /Service /UsePKICert SMSSITECODE=<SiteCode> CCMHOSTNAME=<FQDN MP>. With this command line the client gets installed on the Intranet I can see it does recognize the Certificate, however when I switch
over to the internet, checking control panel applet it's still saying "Client Certificate: Self-signed" ==> Would this not switch to PKI? to be clear for my Intranet I don't use https but just http and I would like to keep it that way.
I've tried using the script I found on TechNet and that does set the Internet MP, but checking the properties of the client it still shows "Client Certificate: Self-signed", even when connected on the Internet.

Background is R2, but clients are not yet upgraded (SCCM 2012 SP1), they will be upgraded aug-sept time frame, using the built-in upgrade process, obviously after doing our testing :-)

==> How is the client then going to find his Internet Management Point? I know the clients gets MP List every 25 hours I assume that would include the Internet MP's, is that the way the client will find the internet mp?
Checking the logs on 1 client I can see in "ClientLocation.log"
               Client is internet
               Current internet Management point is <empty>
if I check the control panel applet - "Network", the Internet MP is empty for that particular client.
I will have full infrastructure available in DMZ, currently doing my testing in DEV environment, have to be creative in faking Intranet/Internet using 2 separate networks
Follow-up question.
If I understand you correctly, I don't have to change anything on the installation params that I'm currently using. This assumes clients have valid certificates and can access CRL.

OoB Problems with SCCM 2012 SP1 CU1

Hi around, perhaps somone has tried this things out already and has a little hint for me.
After we got OoB Managment to work under SCCM 2007 we switched to SCCM 2012 now i have some problems bringing it to work again.
We use a Verisign Certificate for Provisioning, the Firewall Ports (9971 on Server and 19992, 16993 and 16995 on Client) are opend. The autoenrollment is active. DHCP 06 and 15 are set and configured.
The IIS SSL Settings are configured to accept Client Certificates and the Bindings are set to the Web Server Template. We tried to configure it using the Verisign Certificate but it didn't work that way either.
The Webserver Template is build after the Step by Step guide from MS.
The Verisign Certificate was build the same way, Organization Unit is set to Intel(R) Client Setup Certificate. It was imported in the Personal Certificate Store, exported and implemented in the Enrollment Point.
The AD Group exists and the Oob Managment Server has the permissions it needs.
The Oob Managment Point was configured like shown in the MS Step by Step guide.
The Client i'm testing with was fully unprovisioned.
Now the only Status i get is detected and when i try to discover AMT the amtopmgr.log brings the following errors.

We double checked the admin Account in the OOB settings but the password is right and i can manually log in to the MEBX with it.
Has anyone some suggestions what could be wrong?

By the sounds of thing the problem is with your certificate. Can you manually provision a Certified to any of these systems?

Hi, I have some issue with the reports,
Can I reinstall the SCCM Reporting Services Point role without delete or change the SSRS-DB (just reset the SCCM SSRS function)?
I have saved/backup the custom made reports.

Yes you can remove and reinstall the Role. I had to do this recently on our SCCM 2012 R2 due to an issue with the reports not loading. Found out that the problem with reports was from the upgrade to R2 from 2012 SP1 and was able to run
a command to re-register the reports with WMI. I actually removed the role, uninstalled reporting services feature from SQL, deleted the report databases, reinstalled the SQL feature, configured the reporting databases again, added the role back, and
ran the following command.
mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof"
This allowed all my reports to register as they should have and run without errors. If you are having similar problems, you may be able to just run that command to get reports running without all the extra work I did. For us we were getting an
invalid Class error in the srsrp.log.
