I've updated to 21.0.004 via FOTA , though the backup was taken, it was not necessary to restore, all the apps and other details such as contacts remains as it was. any way I feel of restoring in any case of a missing item.
it looks to me that the Web Browsing is very very faster than earlier
all sensors are there.
GPS is working very fast
touch screen is very smooth than earlier
no problem on ring tones
but I was just wondering, are there any way of unlocking the phone without using the switch and by means of touching the screen only? because it looks that the switch tends to loosen/may break with repeated use.

N93 suggestion for new firmware

The N93 does not allow for multiple button press (at the same time), which disqualifies it for gaming. That's to bad, because it has a 3D-accelerator chipset, TV-out, good buttons and landscape mode... PLEASE consider fixing this in the new firmware, PLEASE!

The most logical solution is to add a function to the firmware to navigate through albums or playlists.
The shuffle already has the ability to restart the playlist by pressing the play button 3 times.
Next playlist (or album) could be: tap '>>' 3 times ... while paused press the '>>' (because who really needs to fast forward while paused on a SHUFFLE that you can't see how far you're fast forwarding) ... while paused, press and hold the '>>' button.
And to put even more options (but might be too confusing or comlex).. would be to have different functions depending on whether or not shuffle or continuous play is selected.
IE: when most people are using shuffle, they still like to shuffle playlists or sets of music that they chose ... when people are using continuous play, they usually are listening to albums.
And to top it all off, even allowing people to manage their own firmware would be amazing, but make troubleshooting tough for the bonehead users. (Letting people decide what series of buttons would do what function).
Regardless of the way to solve the problem, shuffle's DO have a problem of being nothing more than 1 playlist, i think many would agree... yes?

New firmware v42.0.004 for C6-00

Seriously no performance improvements in v42 I've tried it - its just that we feel there is a bit improvement in performance with every update though that ain't true .... The only improvement i noticed is the new browser with browser bottom buttons bug fixed... And low ram is not a gardware issue if they have put low ram chip inside the device then they should have optimized the software to handle it ... The os itself takes damn 80 mbps of available ram how can you justify it

Nokia 5230 wishlist for new firmware

Solve the restart problem.
Make it possible to drag the text down to continue reading rather than to select text.
Make the qwerty keyboard and camera useful.
Alternative to use the scrollbar in applications and gallery.
Remove the sluggishness and improve performance.
Integrate symbian3 features and ultimately provide upgrade to symbian3 os.

@sonior - you obviously do not know what you are talking about regarding s^4. Multitouch and hd recording is not what makes it not possible on the 5230- but rather the multiple homescreens, and the graphic effects and etc. The 5230 itself is incapable of supporting the platform. Its easy enough to make a s^4 without HD recording and multitouch. Just give it a resistive screen and a camera incapable of hd recording. LOL.
The s^3 platform itself has 3D graphics and multiple homescreens, things which the 5230 cannot seem to handle if we base upon the N97's performance. There is simply too small RAM, to slow a processor and a lack of a GPU.
The N8 in comparison has a proc more than 200mhz faster than on the 5230, a GPU more than 4x better than the iPhone 3G GPU, and twice as much RAM.
The N97 with almost exactly the same internal hardware as the 5230 cannot even handle its current features properly, what more s^3 or s^4.

Suggestions for New Firmware to X6.

Word suggestion to be included when typing message or text.
Can include 2 or 3 desktops.
Can integrate the file location of Gallery(Sounds and videos) with Phone/Mass Storage device.
Can give new icons/Colors for each number [MOBILE (Home/Business)]
Include smiley's.
Birthday Reminders in Calender taking from contacts.(As like anniversary)

Messaging
-Ability to select multiple messages with ease (Check boxes)
-Ability to search within the messages without having to use a Search app
-Ability to predict text in Qwerty mode, correct typos
-Allow users to set the preferred connection to sync emails (Currently it doesn't allow users to choose during first email configuration wizard)
-Remove "show open apps" from option menu (Redundant, this option is already available when holding middle key)
Home screen
-Ability to display notification like older nokia smart phone models (received messages, missed calls) and able to integrate with facebook app to display facebook notification.
-API to be improved to allow apps to integrate with it, allow tweeter notification, facebook, friendster. (Must have option to select/disable)
-Widget support
-Allow adding of more app short cuts (Can use the readily available technique used to display contacts)
Music player
-Ability to search music within player
-Improve music player performance
-Allow music player to update music contents (album art, album info)

-Allow users to disable a specific type of connection from taking place

Some ridiculous logic
Ovi store, ovi music follows the internet settings of the browser. This confuses new users. Ovi store should have independant settings so should ovi music.
Thats all for now. You see nokia, if you improve these features you are allowing millions of customers to be at peace. We buy your product because we still have hope.
The creation of Nokia X6 has dissapointed many customers because of its instability, uniform features, speed. Functionality wise nokia lacks its "smart" as a smart phone. All the features I suggested above is "possible" to be worked on. Improve this features so that more customers will have faith on your future models.

Suggestion for new firmware

i thought it might be very useful if one could skip to the next album by quickly pressing forward two or maybe three
times. i know its not in line with the "shuffle-idea" but sometimes (on a trainride for example) i like to listen to whole albums, and the above feature would make it that much easier.

Hello all, my name's Oscar, and I've just created a little coldfusion framework for work to help us with some of our "legacy" systems (which all use a cms that bakes it's output.) Time for new firmware

Almost every time my TM is backing up, the connection fails halfway through and drags down the internet connectivity with it.
What's up with this dropping connectivity I keep hearing on the forum? Why hasn't it been addressed yet? Don't you think it's preposterous that this device actually went for sale without -apparently- having been tested extensively?

Do like I do - I use my TC for warming the seed-trays I use for planting special herbs that can be used to make the TC less annoying.

New firmware for Nokia C7-00

After a quick search around, i get completely lost about the right and safe firmware for this phone.
There are some issues ready to be fixed, so im guessing nokia is working on that. Having that said, i see to many firmwares, to many versions, to many sources, absolutely no oficial news on that.

Actualy, even i dont input my product code, when i select the phone, immediately i get: There are no software updates available for this product yet
So, i understand there is zero releases for this phone, since its exists....
Hope im wrong.
Paid big money for a phone who doesnt identify the sms sender.....

Why no new firmware for E71 (product code:0569371)

Now, normally I would not care but over the last couple of months everyone keeps blogging about the new firmware for their E71.
I have paid a full price for mine in the US (Newegg) so that I would not be constrained by some provider limitations.
Well, now I find out that everyone else in the world, including the US, but that one product code (0569371) has received their updates, some even two and I am still stuck on the original 1.0 release.
Can anyone one over there at Nokia explains this to me like a 4-year-old, why does Nokia punishes owners of this particular product?

Having exchanged a few polite emails with NA Nokia devission I got this today:
"Nokia is consistently working to improve our product services and realizes the software update is important to you. I regret to inform you, that I do not have a release date for the firmware update to your Nokia E71 device. Please continue to monitor the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) for updates for your device. "
So, I have decided to go on a mission to provide potential North America buyers of the Nokia phones sold in US about the support they can expect. Do I think this will help? I doubt it, but what else can I do? Class action suite?

Problems in new firmware version of nokia 5800 xm

1. display goes dull...... 2. in music player there is no find option, so i have to find a song from 8000 songs.....it takes long time to search a perticular song. 3. maps are not displaying as before..(in version 31 ) so i request to nokia to release the new version of firmware of nokia 5800xm as soon as possible.else release version 31 as it was again..... desperately waiting for new firmware...........

What version are you using? v50?
1. Display goes dull because of power saving. You can set the time to how many seconds later does the display go dull
2. There is no find option, but there is a search app in the internet menu (it searches phone contents as well)
3. Maps not displaying means the maps data on your card is not compatible with maps version.

X6 new firmware

Guys, since I have updated to v 30.0.003, I cannot find any new firmware e.g. 32.2.002 till now (I have enabled the auto update) Any1 can help me ? I have tried to search for new firmware in my phone and ovi suit, but I still cannot find the new firmware, please help

Its still not allowed for discussion here, as changing your product code would also give Nokia Care viable grounds for refusing to fix your device if any problems occur during the process. Simply put, changing codes would be a violation of Nokia policy. Its not allowed by Nokia. Nothing stops you from doing so, but Nokia can refuse further services to you from the Care Centers.

X3-02 problem with new firmware, "waiting" on home...

Hello,
Today I've got new firmware 6.02 via Nokia Ovi Suite. After that on Home Screen on one of the bar word "Waiting" appeared.
I can't delete this, can't set something else instead. In Home Screen settings that bar is inactive.
I've tried reinstall firmware, remove battery for some time but nothing helped.
Please help.

Pls check the memory in use for ur contacts. If u've assigned favourite contacts from phone memory, & they are duplicated d/t any cause,eg being saved 2 times or both sim & phone memory in use then it leads to the msg waiting. To avoid this, set the memory to phone & delete duplicated contacts from the phone memory.
I'm not sure what do u mean by bar inactive as after reinstalling firmware all bars are activated. One for fav contacts, one for communities, one for shortcuts

Looking for updated firmware for MDHD500-N 31704000 R IOMEGA Network Hard Drive

I'm looking for newer firmware for my IOMEGA Network Hard Drive, model MDHD500-N 31704000 R.
My current firmware level is K1.04 L1.0 W1.1 but I'm encountering weird write commit kind of problems. Low level formatted the drive already and did a factory reset.

I still have upnp av error while I try to access the disk throught a media player connected on my TV, but the rest of the K108 firmware is totally functionnal on my drive.
I keep a backup of the firmware file, and I can upload it to everyone needed it, (specially if you can't download teh firmware from the link I post below)
Hope it could help someone...
Does someone know if it is possible to get a low level access to the drive and to the code its running (I need to debug my upnp problem...) ?
