I don't know what happend but archlinux.puzzle.ch seems to be pretty slow these days. While I got ~ 2.4MB/s before, now I get about 150KB/s. I'm sitting in ZH-city and my router is connected to Cablecom.
BTW: Has archlinux.worldweb2000.com something to do with puzzle.ch? pacman connects there everytime I sync my packages..

How to share and update one iTunes master library on an external HD between an iMac and iBook
Hi. I am in the process of consolidating and switching gears from storing my iTunes libraries (which have roughly the same files) on both my iMac and iBook (both OS 10.7.5) to creating one master library on an external hard drive (Canvio Connect 2TB) and sharing that between both computers, updating the laptop (which I use less frequently) when necessary. I wanted to know if this is possible and if so, how to go about doing this in a way where I don't lose any data and am able to maintain it efficiently. Thanks!
There is a library file on the external drive that contains a list of all the tracks you have put into iTunes. The list points to media files iTunes plays are on the external drive too. Using the instructions I provided you tell the iTunes application on each computer to start up using the library file on the external drive. If you add a file to iTunes while using computer #1 the file will be copied to the media folder on the external drive and the library file on the external drive will be updated to show there is a new file. When you plug the same drive into computer #2 and start iTunes it takes the file listing from the library file on the external drive. You are using the one library with each computer and it exists only on the external drive which both computers use. They are truly sharing the same single copy of the library.
I have a box with objects inside and a list inside with an updated inventory of the objects. I give the box to you. You take some objects out and put some in and make a note in the list of what you have done, then put the list back inside and hand the box to me. How do I know what changes you have done? Simple. I open the box and look at the list. It's the same list that was in your hands only moments before. I add a few objects and update the list, put it back inside the box and hand the box to you. How do you know what changes have been made? Simple. Open the box and read the list which was the one I updated moments before. The only copy of the list is in the box so neither of us is needing to keep our own copy of the list updated.
Everything iTunes needs to generate your library listing is in the iTunes folder, but it doesn't have to be on the computer. In your case it will all be on the external drive and each copy of the iTunes application on each computer will look and use the same identical library file on the external drive as you pass it from computer to computer. Once you have set this up you can delete the entire iTunes folder in Music from your computer because the application will no longer be using it. The only thing "iTunes" left on the computer will be the application itself, but each copy will have been told to use the library on the external drive.
Okay, enough. I've said the same thing about 4 ways now. -
Update SharePoint list with project finish date on Project.Updated event
Hello,
I want to update a column in a SharePoint list with the project finish date when a project is updated on Project Server. My OnUpdated event handler is being called ok, but if I change the project start date Project Server runs an asynchronous republishing
on the project, and my event handler ends up being called before the finish date is update by the republishing job, so the code writes the "old" finish date on the SharePoint list. The solutions I could think of are:
Identify the republishing job on Project Server queue, pool the queue waiting for it to finish, then read the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
Include a custom job on Project Server queue after the republishing job, that reads the finish date and update the list item in SharePoint.
I don't know if any of the solutions are feasible and how to implement them. Has anyone coded something like this and/or have a better solution?

LiveCycle data services uses it for its messaging implementation (basically it configures the server to multicast messages to all the listening clients...even in a clustered environment across different LAN/WAN).
In most cases the default configuration will work fine, the problem is that if you are running a firewall on the server (or your local machine...i.e. windows firewall) the ports that JGroups uses for its communications can be blocked. In a local environment its easy enough to disable windows firewall and bounce your server to get things working.
In a production environment you need to open the ports that JGroups is using. These settings are in the Global Administration settings (as mentioned by WorkspaceUser above). If you export it and look at the JChannelConnectionProperties you'll see the ports its using and you can set your firewall to allow communication to those ports.

WSUS Hangs on "Unused updates and update revisions"
In our environment we have not cleaned up WSUS updates in a while, probably about a year. I have been tasked with cleaning it up and optimizing it. When I attempt to run the WSUS Server Cleanup Wizard, it hangs on "Unused updates and update revisions"
and doesn't do anything. The wizard then disappears and I am taken back to the WSUS Console where I see the following:

When I click copy error to clipboard, this is what is copied:
The WSUS administration console was unable to connect to the WSUS Server Database.
Verify that SQL server is running on the WSUS Server. If the problem persists, try restarting SQL.

In my research, I have found several solutions, and have tried a few of my own. Below I will list the ones I have tried:
1. Run each item individually. IE, run superseded updates, then run expired updates after that finishes, then run unneeded update files after that finishes, etc. This did not work
2. Stop the WSUS IIS service and run "wsusutil.exe removeunneededupdates" this also did not work
The solutions I have found, but am hesitant to try (due to the fact that we are in a live production environment) are the following:
1. Re-Index the WSUS Database according to the following link:

A little about our environment - 8,000 computers, WSUS and SCCM are on the same Server 2008 R2 server, we only have the one WSUS and SCCM server, so nothing downstream as far as WSUS is concerned.

I have started going through and declining updates, and then going through SCCM and removing any expired updates from the SCCM side as well. I am now down to 3822 unapproved updates in WSUS, with a total of 13304 updates.
At this point I am STILL UNABLE to run the cleanup wizard to clean up any of these. It still hangs when it runs, and only on Unused Updates and update revisions. I have even tried running powershell scripts and command line utilities to clean WSUS up, and
still just hangs. I am pretty much at a loss, so any other advice would be appreciated.
One more question, should it resort to this: What impact does resetting WSUS have on a live environment, with 7000 plus computers? Should I have to resort to it, is this something that is going to cause any major issues?
We do plan on preventing this in the future by running the database defrag once a month, and running the WSUS Server Cleanup Wizard once per quarter, but getting there sure is proving to be quite the challenge.

My husband's iphone4 seems to have 2 apple ids. The one listed in the featured section of the App Store is the correct one. The one that asks to be signed into for purchase and updates is also mine, and the incorrect one. Hence, our devices are linked. How can I remove my apple Id from his phone so that there is no connection between the two?
I think it may be because he got his phone first and not seeing a future issue, I set his phone up to my already existing apple Id used for my iPod. If I connect his iPhone to our pc, can I create his own apple id account?

I have a new email address and updated my apple id/icloud with the new address. I updated on my iPhone, but i'm keep getting a pop up to enter my password with my old email address listed for iCloud/Apple id. How do I get it to go away?
Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID. -

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch and just did the update to IOS 5. Now I can't connect to my Netgear wifi router. My iPhone connects fine along with all of my other laptops etc. I have the router set with WPA-PSK [TKIP] security and an access list. I've confirmed the mac address is included on that list and that the password is correct. Under choses netwrok I select the network and it just goes into a spin. I have tried removing the password and the access list settings and it still will not complete the connection to the router thus no internet access. The routers firmware is also up to date. This thing worked fine before this update and I've already tried to restore from backup. Any ideas or is the wifi nic bad in this thing with the new apple firmware update? Any fix?

How to Loop through another list and update a column with SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflow

I am trying to get my head around the new 2013 Workflow Engine and SharePoint Designer 2013 Workflow Text-Based Designer.
I have two lists.
List A has 2 columns: Title, Completed (Yes/No)
List B has 3 columns: Title, LookupListATitle, Completed (Yes/No)
All the 2013 Workflow components have been installed and configured and I am selecting the 2013 Workflow option in SPD
I am trying to set off a 2013 Workflow when an item in List A is edited to Loop through List B and select items where the LookupListATitle column's value is equal to the Title value of the current item, and set the value of the Completed column for those
items in ListB to "Yes".
I have the Workflow configured like this:
Stage: Stage 1
IF Current Item:Completed equals Yes
Loop: 1
The contents of this loop will run repeatedly while: ListB:LookupListATitle equals Current Item: Title
Update item in ListB.
(The dialog options for the update item action as follows:
List: ListB
Field: Completed, Value: Yes
In the Find the List Item section
Field: LookupListATitle
Value: Current Item: Title)
Transition to stage
Go to End of Workflow
When I update an item in ListA and set its Completed column to Yes, I would expect the Workflow to find all the items in List B where the Lookup column is equal to ListA's Title (there are 2) and update their Completed column to Yes. But it doesn't work.
When I look at the Workflow Status it says the Internal Status is "Canceled" and the information pop up has the following alien language (and may be truncated):

I understand that you wanted to update the items in the other list (Participants) where the Course equals the Current Item.
You need to use “Call HTTP Web Service" action and “Build Dictionary" action to get the Maxid and then loop Participants to update the items.
You can follow the steps as below to achieve what you want:
Create a custom list named Courses, add columns: Title(Single line of text), Course ID(Single line of text), Course Finalised (Yes/No).
Create a custom list named Participants, add columns: Title(Single line of text), Course(Lookup), CourseFinalised (Yes/No).
Create workflow associated to Courses, start the workflow automatically when an item is created or changed.
Add conditions and actions:
The HTTP URL is set to
https://sitename/_api/web/lists/GetByTitle('listname')/items?$orderby=Id%20desc and the HTTP method is set to “GET”. Then the list will be order by Id and desc.
Then if Course Finalised is equal to Yes, the CourseFinalised of the associated items in Participants will be updated to Yes.

How come Java 8 is not listed in my plug-in checks and updates?
I recently updated Java to Java 8, and when I clicked to do my plug-ins checks and updates, Java is not listed anywhere, whereas the old Java (Java 7 and Java deployment 7 update) were there and listed as needing an update. Is there a reason it isn't listed? Do I have to go to Java's site weekly to check for updates?
Firefox is a 32 bit application, so you need to install the 32 bit Java version.
Java 7U55 is still secure (i.e. no known security vulnerabilities), so if there aren't any issues with Java 7U51 then there is no need to update to Java 8 at this moment and you can wait til Java 8 becomes available via the automatic Java updater or via the java.com website.

Sum child list items and update parent total using javascript
I have a SharePoint 2010 Parent/Child list setup using a lookup field to join both the lists, this is working well.
The Parent list contains requisition requests and the child list contains related item details. Each of the related child list items has a 'Line Item Total' field. I need to aggregate the Line Item Totals in the child list and place the result in a 'Requisition
Total' in the parent. So for any given parent record the sum of it's related child 'Line Item Totals' is reflected in the 'Requisition' total in the parent row.
I am struggling with the JavaScript code below. I am trying to aggregate Line Item Totals for a given Requisition#? Could someone please review and advise?

Rick RofeI do something similar for a PO Header/PO Detail set of lists. I use SPServices to pull the data.
I put this code in the child edit page - so any time any child is edited, the parent is updated. I get all children records and total them up (except for the item I'm displaying at the current time. I add that value in directly from the form itself.

SAP HANA Current Revision and how to update
Hi All,
I would like to know how we can check the current HANA IMDB server revision version, are there are specific Linux commands to check the revision on the HANA IMDB server? Also I would like to take your inputs to learn how to update the revision for HANA server. Can this be done using the HANA unified installer?

Thanks for the inputs, thats very helpful. The HDB version command gives the HANA version and revision details. Currently we are on HANA 1.0 SP3 Revision 20 and looking forward to upgrade to Revision 21.

I would like to know if the only way to update the HANA revision from 20 to 21, is to follow the steps in the HANA automated update guide and set up the components for automated update, then do a revision update? Is there a manual way to do it, but none of the HANA guides mentions how to manually download a specific revision package from SAP service maket place and update the revision version. Please let me know if I missed any guide that talks about this?

New update are listed on the app icon. When I click update all I'm prompted to enter password. When I do, the progress bars go away and nothing gets updated. Tried logging out, reset iPad, and nothing seems to work. Keeps asking me to enter password.
I've been having the same problem for days and just solved it. Tried going to Apple ID and had all the same problems you did in the second paragraph. I signed out with my current username on the ipad under settings--->store and signed back in with my oldest apple id and password. Now the apps don't ask for a password to upgrade. I too had a username that wasn't an email address and had to change to one that was at some point. That's what caused the problems. Hope this can work for you.

I have Library having metadata column when a document is uploaded i need update another list with metadata column of

but i did not see the the List column getting updated.But when i use the code to update a column of single line of text
it works fine.But when i do it for multi select metadata column in debug mode i could see its giving null value even though Library had column value.
Any pointers on how to update Multiselect metadata column programatically on itemeadding event in library to a list will
be helpful.You need to use the TaxonomyFieldValueCollection class. The following code is from SP2010 but should still apply in SP2013. It is an example of updating multivalued taxonomy fields.
