Revision level issue in Material Master maintenance

Hi All,
When I try to change the revision level for a certain change number in our production client in the material master I get the following error
Priority of revision level E is too small
I have checked in CC13. But I could not find anything relevant.
There are a number of revision levels available in the dropdown list.If I select some of the last revision levels available in this dropdown list in the material master the system accepts it readily but if I select any of the earlier revision levels in the list the system throws the above error message.
Please can someone tell me what is wrong here.

Hello,
I use My SAP 6.
I have implemented OCM. It's used for 2 things:
- The first is for revision level in the Material Master.
- the second is for the BOM.
Today, the customizing is good, it's work.
My need is to have the same change number for those 2 evolutions: for the material master evolution and for the BOM evolution.
It's possible, and how?

I do not think this is possible. Service level is usually used for safety stock planning.

Problem with Revision level for a Material

Hi All,
I have a problem with Revision Levels for a Material.
I want to know the Revision Level for a particular Material for BOM Creation.
Can anyone please let me know from which Table or Funtion Module can I get the Rev Level, once I pass MATNR (Material) and AENNR (Change Number).

Organization Level screen on Material Master

Hi experts,
I am trying to use User Exit or BADI which runs Organization Level screen on Material Master.
However, I don't know which one I should use...
Could someone help me to tell me the User Exit or BADI that I'm searching for?

This problem is caused by the program design.
In the R/3 System the low-level code is only ever increased and never reduced when the product structure is changed.
The low-level code is not reduced for reasons of performance and is thus greater than absolutely necessary. The larger low-level code does not disrupt the MRP however, that is, the material can be planned correctly.

Add MARA-ATTYP - Material Categor to Material Master Maintenance or Display

HI Experts,
How can I configure to display the MARA-ATTYV - Material Category Field as editable in the Material Master Maintenance or Display in MM03? Is there a set of values for this field?

Hi Cecilio,
The field MARA-ATTYP can only be changed in a retail system , transaction MM41 and MM42, it's not available for trx. MM01, MM02 MM03.

Multiple Revision Levels for a Material

Today, Tyco Electronics has many manufacturing sites located around the world. A given material may be manufactured in multiple locations. When Engineering determines that a given material must change revision level, they determine a date that this new revision level becomes effective. Unfortunately, not all manufacturing sites can be ready to manufacture to that new revision level. In fact, based on tooling, one manufacturing site may manufacture to both the old and new revision level for a period of time until all of their tools/dies have been switched over. In addition, customers may require that only the latest revision be sold to them. Does anyone else have this requirement/issue today? If so, how are you handling this within the SAP R/3 system since material revision is at a global level and there is no component revision level field on the bill of material. Requirements are to sell at a material/revision level, plan to a particular material/revision level, stock at a material/revision level. Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.

Which strategy shall I use for picking?
Can you please guide me what material master data fields are required for these strategies.

Issue In Material Master Creation.

Hi All,
We are migrating from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6.0.
We have created a Test system in 6.0 which is replica of our existing Production system in 5.0. I have checked relevant config settings everything is ok.
While doing testing we observed following issues:
1.) We are not able to Create Master Data which is Material Master, after entering all relevant information we are getting error: erro Log for the same says:
1.) E MG 144 : The field 'Care Code' is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry MARA-CARE_CODE
2.) The field 'GI Proc. Time' is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry MARC-GI_PR_TIME
3.) E MG 144 : The field 'Purchasing Across Purchasing Group' is defined as a required field; it does not contain an entry MARC-MULTIPLE
Please sugest if there is any SAP Note we need to implement for this.

Hi Prashant,
the 'required'-state as well as the occurance of a field on a screen
can be customized. You should proceed as follows to resolve the issue:
1. Call transaction OMSR
2. Press the 'Field Name'-Button, enter a field there, for instance
    MARA-CARE_CODE, and press enter. This will lead you to the
   settings for that field.
3. Now press the button with the green arrow on the right to the field.
   By this, yopu reached the screen where field selection can be
   maintained, the decision whether the field should be required
   is customized.
4. The above list is the list of fields which are customized together,
   as a field selection group. The below list defines whether the field
   is required. If you dont use that field at all, it should be
   sufficient to take care that for no field reference, 'entry required'
   is switched on.
5. Now proceed the same for the other fields, which have not been in
   the same field selection group.

Service Level in the Material Master

Hi -
Can the service level field in the material master MRP view be used to drive additional demand independant of safety stock? Meaning, is there any way I can enter a service level and have it increase demand even if I am not using it to calculate safety stock?

I do not think this is possible. Service level is usually used for safety stock planning.

Excise Duty material master maintenance

I am trying to maintain the Excise duty settings at Client level in the basic data screen of my finished goods material master and I am encountering the following error message:
"Authorization missing or no tax warehouse created for tax type BI

Product Hierarchy Levels in the material Master.

Plz let me know the Levels to which product hierarchy can be maintained for a Finished good in its Material Master.
What I know it is 9 and is limited to 18 characters.
The T- code for it is v/76, and is maintained thru it, but while I am trying to maintain 4th level it is automatically taking 3rd Level. please point out the mistake which i must be doing.

Here i am furnishing small example
1 step allowed 5 digits - 00001- Electronics
2 Step allowed 5 digits- 00001 - Home Appliances
3 step allowed 8 digits- 00000001- Steam iron
The above hierarchy can be assigned in material master as 000010000100000001

Archiving issue in material master

I am trying to delete the material master through SARA t.code
1.enter the archiving object MM_MATNR
2. then click write button enter the varient name(zarc..)click maintain
then enter the materials ...tick the radio button production mode..save the varent
3.then come back click the starttime click time immediatly
4.come back click spool parameters
5. then comeback click deletion button then enter user name
6. then click select archive files..her popupscreen displayed but there are no files.....
i have faced issue thre ..so next step how can i proceed..pls guide me any one...

Material master Maintenance-Mass change

Hello All,
We have around 2200 records (material masters) for which the following changes are required.
1) Where Valuation Class is "AAAA" or "BBBB" or "CCCC"or"DDDD" replace
all Purchasing Value Key with "2"
2) Where Valuation Class is "NLAG" and Purchasing Value Key is "4" or
"3" or "2" then replace Purchasing Value Key with "1"
Kindly suggest which is the best option out of mass maintenance(MM17), LSMW and BDC ???

For BDC You have to depend on ABAPer and it will take more time to develop.
As you can easily view the maintained material master and you have already the required changes, you can easily handle this using MM17 also.
You can prepare LSMW also if you have some time in your hand

Issue in Material Master custom tab

Hi Experts,
I have developed a tab in material master using SPRO -> IMG-> Logistics General -> Material Master -> Configuring Material Master -> Define Structure of Data Screens for Each Screen Sequence . Its called Costing3.
While executing mm03 and selecting costing2 and costing3 its showing perfectly. But when i select costing3 alone its showing the below error.
*Maintenance status of field MBEW-ZPLD1 does not correspond to status of screen*
How to correct this? Is i missed anything in SPRO setup?
Any one Kindly help me out.

Issue in material master update from presentation server using BAPI....
