Revisiting: Swapping Rotation of texts and graphics using DWCS3? Yikes! Javascript?

Question

I had to leave this project for over a month (similar dialogue with Murray Ace on 4/14 and 4/15)  But I'm back, and am confused as ever. But let's see if I can now provide you enough detail to help. the only reason I'm posting this again is because the original post is over a month old.  I apologize if this causes a problem with duplicate entries on your forum.
I want to swap sections including text (referred to as a "slideshow"?) on a class / work website project.  I built most of the site site already, and saved this the hardest part for last. I did NOT set the site up using AP, and due to the restrictions of the server this site might run on, I cannot use FLASH.
On 4/15, Murray Ace gave me a link to www.malsup.com/jquery/cycle that provided coding for a particular effect (called a "cycle"I wanted to use named "turn up".   But at this point, I am completely, completely LOST. I downloaded the entire plug-in and saved it as both a txt file and a .css file.  I see lines of code, and just don't know what to do with it or how to incorporate it into MY site with MY style sheets. I don't know where in the downloaded code to type in the names of my fields, etc.  I understand the concept of javascript, I just don't know how to do it or use it.  I'm a dreamweaver boy, not a programmer --- yet.  But I can tell you what I have set up:
I"ve designated a container field which I've named "#bottomslideshowdiv".  This div is nested within a couple of other divs, and is included in an "editable" field of a "child" page of a template.  I have designated this child page as my home page.
I have four separate divs I've created within the #bottomslidedhowdiv" container I want to swap out labeled "#swap1, #swap2, #swap3, #swap4. In those containers I've included a table where I have a photo, and two text areas.  I THINK they should all be the same dimension --- when I preview it in a browser I see some funkiness but I can probably fix it if I can figure out how to use the code provided (or any other method) to do the swap out. You will note that when they appear in the browser, they all appear one after the other.
There could be some funkiness or problems caused with the way I set up the initial containers and divs for the home page that might cause problems --- this was my first attempt in working with divs, and I've used this home page as a template for the rest of the site.  If possible, I'd like to leave existing divs and formatting as is. When I build my NEXT site I will use the lessons learned from this site. There's some other funkiness as well through the site, but for a first pass it's okay.  I did mention this was a class project, right?

My hope was to fix this page, and make it the index page.  I'm sure you've guessed I have backups all over the place, including a backup for the style sheet.  I assume I should be adding the javascript to the existing style sheet.
If there's an easier way to do this that doesn't involve flash or involve me completely recreating my home page or template, please let me know.  . (There MUST be an easier way --- we see this all the time on websites!)
