Reward Points - Poster failed to mark answer correct

Is there a process to get an answer marked as correct if the poster fails to do this? I have correctly answered a question but the poster failed to mark it as correct, even though he acknowledged it was correct and thanked me for the answer. The email that I sent him asking him to mark the answer as correct was ignored.

I'm not "demanding" anything, I just think users should be polite and follow etiquette.
Whilst I know there are some threads that are incorrectly flagged as Correct, for the most part these flags help others zero in on solutions that may help them. Of course, they need to understand the particular circumstances of that thread, so just copying the solution does not necessarily help. That is why I go to great lengths to explain my solution.
The first thing potential posters should do is perform a search across the relevant forum and read the threads returned. My experience is that many people just do not do that even after it has been suggested to them. Too many times I've seen several posts being created on the same day for pretty much the same question. In a lot of cases, posters just want an answer to their question that is enough for them to resolve their issue and allow them to move on. Of course, it helps them if they spend time to analyse various solutions and follow the advice that best suits their own situation - I always try to find at least three different solutions and check them all before proceeding. However, if the user does do a search and finds several solutions that are the same and are all flagged as correct, they can be pretty certain that they have the solution they need.
I would also say that flagging solutions as Correct in response to people that are new to answering threads encourages them to continue to take an interest in participating in the forums. Human nature being what it is, if you never receive even a thank you, you will give up.

  • Recovery Point creation fails because change traking has been marked inconsistent

    I have a Hyper-v Cluster that is backed up using DPM 2012 SP1, for the last week when recovery point creation attempts to run I receive the following error message.
    Change Tracking has been marked inconsistent due to one of the following reasons
    1. Unexpected shutdown of the protected server
    2. Unforeseen issue in DPM Bitmap failover during cluster failover of one or more datasources sharing the tracked volume. (ID 30501 Details: The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057))
    After this error it performs a consistency check, it completes and a backup is stored, but as soon as it does another recovery point creation it fails again with the same error.
    I have a Server 2012 R2 Hyper-v cluster with 2 virtual hosts and a quorum disk acting as the deciding vote. The backups completed for a month prior to this with no problems. No event seems to have triggered this problem it is just completely out of the blue.
    I have update roll-up 8 on DPM and have both hosts within the cluster updated. They seem to consistently fail on one virtual host and intermittently fail on the other virtual host.
    The event logs do not have any errors other than Event ID 1 VDS basic provider

    Lets see if cleaning up all the filter bitmaps clears up the problem.
    To get to a clean state please delete DpmFilter* files from “System Volume Information” using following steps.
    1. Open an administrative command prompt and run:
           C:\>fltmc unload DpmFilter (run on all cluster nodes)
    2) From one of the Cluster nodes, run:
           C:\>psexec -s cmd  (psexec is
    www.sysinternals.com tool used to run cmd under system account)
    3) In this new command prompt (running as system) run:
           C:\>CD C:\ClusterStorage
           C:\ClusterStorage>For /d %i in (volume*) do del /s "%i\System Volume Information\DpmFilter*"
    Note: The * includes (DPMFilterBitmap{Guid}, DPMFilterStatus, DPMFilterLog, DPMFilterTrace*)
    4) verify files are deleted by running
            “dir /s /b DpmFilter*”
            exit
    5) Then load the filter again on all nodes
           C:\>fltmc load DpmFilter (on all cluster nodes)
    6) Run DPM Consistency check against all the VM's to re-start normal protection.

    Yes, a lot of the original posters do not come back; as far as I'm concerned, the points system should be abolished - period. Most of us help here because we want to and/or enjoy it. Additionally, by reading - and helping when I think I have a solution or idea that may benefit the poster - I keep learning myself. And, in a way, it's a way to pay back (or forward) for help I've received here. There aren't that many special priviledges for points. And, thank goodness, this is not a social networking site, popularity contest, high school (or kindergarten for that matter) or a blog, so there is no need for "votes". The day a "vote" or "like" becomes mandatory, I will stop contributing.

    Disc Utility, +when repairing permissions booted from the disc+, found many permissions errors. Booted back afterwards from the Mac HD in Safe Boot, to repair permissions again, it seems all those corrections were reversed, and repairing permissions again, booted regularly, not in Safe Boot, DU found no errors. DU booted from the disc, apparently, has a different idea of permissions from the actual, installed OS.
    The following is from DU booted from the OS when it reversed all the corrections made by DU booted from the disc:

    And before all of this, Console, set to bounce, and to bring log to front, crashed. This never happened before. I copied that report, but won't get into that just yet. Will wait to see what happens next.

    After Goods Issuance of Stock Transfer Order:
    I did a capturing and posting of Excise Invoice referencing the Goods
    Issuance Material Document (of STO) using transaction J1IS. Excise
    Document is created succesfully and displayed in the pop up message,
    but FI document is not displayed in the pop up message (but it actually
    got created in the system).
    The pop up message looks like this:
    "Excise invoice 001020026 generated. FI document is ."
    Is there a SAP note to enable the FI document number to be displayed in
    the pop up message?
    Will reward points for any helpful answers.

    Run transaction FIBF.
    On the menu click on - Settings -> Products -> of a Partner -> Activate
    here maintain a new entry:

  • DPM (2012R2 ur 4) Azure Online recovery point creation fails

    I am using SCDPM 2012 R2 UR4 to backup some files on premise. I created a backup vault - installed the Azure Agent on DPM (registered it), I downloaded the Azure Backup Vault credential file and provided it during registration process (it showed the correct
    subscription and region) and configured online backup.
    The backup to azure fails with Windows Azure Backup Agent cannot connect to the OBEngine service.
    I already re-started the service - no problem. No firewall locally - not sure what ports are required on outgoing company firewalls (didn't see anything in the documentation). I also created a new backup vault in azure and did the same procedure again. But
    the result is the same. Please does someone have any other ideas?

    Are there any events in the application event log after the failure ?
    Can you look in the CBEngineCurr.errlog in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Temp directory after the failure and see if you can find an error that will point you in the right direction.

  • My order has shipped and I've received part of it, but NO REWARD POINTS yet????

    As the Subject points out, I haven't received the points yet and the website says the points are not rewarded until after shipping.  I'm just wondering where they are?  I have only one account, I logged into the store site prior to purchase, I have only one card, The Sony Financial Services Card which I used to purchase Sony's brand new 4K tv. My Sony account/Sony Reward Points were already linked as I've already received/used Sony Reward Points prior to this purchase of the 4K TV.  So what could be wrong?  Why am I not showing any points for this latest purchase of the TV & 4K video player (they're running a special for a free 4K video player for the purchase of the tv I got, and I have already received the 4K Video Player)? I'm set to receive the shipment of the TV tomorrow between 10am-2pm Central.
    Anyone have any ideas as to what may be going on?

  • Access Point utility fails to enable Internet Shar...

    I have an subsidy unlocked Lumia 920 and using it with a T-mobile SIM (USA).  Access point enables MMS and Data on the device, but I can't seem to get Internet Sharing to work.  I've already verified with T-Mobile that internet sharing is enabled on my plan, but the device keeps telling me that Internet Sharing is disabled.  This failure is also true for a subsidy unlocked Lumia 720 that I have.
    I've verified that Access Point configures internet sharing correctly in the Lumia 925, but it seems that the access point utility fails to configure something on the Lumia 920 and 720.
    I'm using the latest version of Access Point, released on 7/18/2013 (v 3.7.2.15)

    Have a look at Post # 131 of this resource as using latest "access point" fixes MMS so it will work, but it breaks Internet Sharing. If you want to to setup Internet Sharing you would need to reset device (http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/support/faq/?action=sin​gleTopic&topic=FA140408) and setup T-Mobile APN manually as here: http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/32597?start=120​&tstart=0
    Lumia 925 is already using the Amber update, so hopefully issue should be fixed upon it's release within next few weeks.

    As Craig has written. The point system is currently down. That is for all, not only your user ID.
    As all of you know by now, we are having stability problems. I guess they come with the success of having over 250K members and a lots of users. (Even though SDN was down a couple of times we still clocked in at over 1100 posts last week.) 
    It is not a trivial problem and to limit the influencing factors we have decided to take our home grown point system out of the equation. Next to a host of other factors availability was improved by 5% from the day before.
    We will let you know once it is back and also will give you a detailed account of what was going wrong.
    Isn't it true for SDN too: You only know what you had once it is gone. (Well, actually not there for a while.)

  • How do you know if users have a history of marking answers?

    In Stack Overflow, you can easily see if a user is going to acknowledge your help by looking at their acceptance rate. I am finding it frustrating, however, that my answers on the Adobe forums are often ignored in favor of answers I feel are leading the user in a wrong direction, simply because the other person giving an answer had more red "bars" under their name.
    I have helped many users, and many of them have come back and thanked me.  However, none have marked my answers as correct or even helpful.  I would like to concentrate on helping users who are willing to mark answers as correct or helpful, so that those bars reflect the amount of help I am actually giving.  Where can I look to find out which users have a history of marking answers?

    Hi, Amy. I'm not sure why I'm persisting in this, but:
    This thread seems to have wandered off a bit.  Just so it's clear, I was asking a technical question (how to see who does and does not mark answers as correct)
    That wasn't clear...just to be clear in return:
    This forum provides no summary reporting of a user's marking of answers.
    However, if you are truly inspired, there are some things you can do.
    If you look at a user's page, under Stuff > Discussions, you will find a tabulation of the threads started by that user. E.g: http://forums.adobe.com/people/Amy%20Blankenship?view=discussions
    Those are, of course, the only threads that a user could have awarded points in. The tabulation shows which threads are designated as Answered () and which are not (). Whether a user marks a question as Answered is not the same as whether they award points, but I think you will find that there is a reasonable correlation.
    If you are even more interested, a script to open all those threads and determine whether they have offered Helpful or Correct answer designations is not very difficult, if you are experienced at writing tools that scrape web pages. Given that most users have less than 100 threads, it is probably not a violation of this site's terms of service (either implicitly or explicitly) to suck down those threads in an automated fashion, and certainly should have no appreciable effect on the server (a question one should always ask when considering automated retreival of data from someone's web server).
    So, to summarize: I) This forum software does not keep a running total of this information that is available to us II) You can get a pretty good proxy for it by taking a quick look III) You could write a simple script to calculate it for you with a little bit of work.
    Also, there is a moral hazard: Users who do not mark answers as Correct or Helpful are no less deserving of help than those that do. Many are unfamiliar with the cultural/social protocols of this site, and that should not be held against them. That is, however, merely my opinion, and certaily it is arguable.

  • "HTTP Post Failed" when trying to unlock 6212 Clas...

    Hi,
    Here is my problem:
    When I run the UnlockMidlet applet on 3 different 6212 Classic phones, it fails with the error message: "HTTP Post Failed".
    I have successfully unlocked 16 of these phones in the past 10 months following the exact same procedure.
    The provider is T-Mobile.
    When I launch the applet, it says, "Connecting to server", then "Connected to server" and then displays the error message mentionned above.
    Could somebody help me figure out if:
    1. The Nokia server is down,
    2. T-Mobile is somehow blocking the connection to the unlocking server?
    The T-mobile access point name is epc.tmobile.com if it makes any difference.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really don't know why it stopped working.

    It's working today! All 3 phones unlocked without problems.
    I am guessing the Nokia service was down for the last couple of days. I wish I knew where to look to find out if it's up or not.

    How to give points: Mark your thread as a question while creating it. In the answers you get, you can assign the points by clicking on the stars to the left. There are 3 radio buttons. Depending on the level of help you have got with the answer you can award points.
    You also get a point yourself for rewarding (one per thread).
