Rewards Auctions = Horrible

By the looks of other posts, everyone else is having an issue with the Rewards Auctions.  Thanks for giving us points but if you can't actually use them, what's the point?  I don't want to use points to get a discount on a gift card or other merchandise.  If you earn points for spending money with Verizon, we should be able to use them to actually purchase items with 100% points, like other really great rewards programs.  Take a look at Marriott Rewards and see what I'm talking about.  Verizon needs to fix this or just get rid of the program all together.  Absolutely horrible.  In my opinion, it's the worst rated rewards program of all time.
If anyone from Verizon wants to send me a generic, calculated reply, I'll look forward to it.

The "Gift Card Deals" are for the most point 10% off. Not much at all.
The "Local Deals" are from Entertainment Book, and local coupon magazines/mailings have similar deals.
The extended time auctions are just insane.

  • Verizon Rewards Auctions bids all went to ZERO last week. Can I get confirmation from other players?. September 8th 2014?

I just need confirmation from other members. If they experienced all the auctions stopping at zero as if they won the auction. Than waiting about 15-20 seconds and than they would start back over. This was in extended play. I'm not talking about the 10 second start over. They literally went to zero for awhile than started over. Also people still bidding on auctions that were at a zero time limit for over a 1 to 2 hour period.. All of which all of them had points above up in the 100,000 levels? on small items. This happened around 9-10Am in the morning on Semptember 8th, 2014. IT WAS NOT A BROWSER ISSUE.

I certainly want you to enjoy the program thenicker2015! I apologize for the time you have spent in effort to resolve this. I'm confident our Verizon Wireless Smart Rewards Center can provide a resolution. Please teach out at 866-962-3713. Thank you.

  • Auction Bidiots

The Verizon Smart Rewards Auctions are a total joke, if not an outright scam. I've tried a number of times and the same thing keeps happening whether it's something I'm bidding on or just keeping an eye on. Nor does it matter if it's the cheapest garbage that no one in their right mind would want, something really nice, or if there's 100's of one particular item. In the last few minutes of an auction it 's like all of a sudden people show up to bid going from under 50 to as many as 200-300 bidders, bidding goes insane, points go from under 10,000 up to 80k-90k, and often over 100,000 points for such ridiculous items like the never ending supply of the $25 Verizon wireless gift card. Never mind that the bid button goes dead in the last few seconds. What is the point of an auction where it's impossible to compete fairly? If by some miracle you win an item, who gets the points? Where or who do they go to? They must be of some value to someone if verizon has to resort to allow such nonsense just to let someone win something like a lousy $25 under gift card for 80k-90k points that has very limited use in one specific place.
This is the exact same thing that happened on E-bay in their first couple of years. Often a seller would have friends bid on an item to artificially drive the price up and create false interest. Other times people would bid on an item with no intention of completing the deal. All too often people would wait until the last few seconds and do a berserker bid. Then there were always the jerks that used bot-ware to make sure no matter what they won at any cost. They were called 'Bidiots'. E-bay pretty much put a stop to those kinds of scummy practices. Verizon wireless needs to do the same and stop this deceptive, unethical, and unfair practice and give everyone a fair and level playing field.

For what it's worth, I was starting to think the same thing after losing a handful of auctions today, the first I've tried by the way. Just a few minutes ago I won a restaurants.com gift card. So....while it seems like ********, it apparently is not.

  • Verizon Rewards Partners???

Does Verizon have any idea that some of their partners in the Verizon Rewards program are complete scams?  I won an auction in the Verizon Rewards for a $25 Restaurant.com gift card.  As I have come to learn, this is a complete scam.  I can't use this card for $25 at any of the local restaurants listed, but rather can only use $5 at any one restaurant, in any one visit within any one month!  What a crock of horse dung.  Then to top it off, I find out that some of the local restaurants won't even accept the paltry $5 certificate as they say that Restaurant.com doesn't reimburse them so they no longer accept the certificates.  Come on Verizon.....display some ethical business sense here and drop these jokers from your rewards program.  The rewards program is scam enough without making it a multi-company conspiracy by working with the Restaurant.com pirates!

No, please re-read.  I read as much of the terms and conditions as I could at the time, and with the belief that I was bidding on a $25 dining gift card.  Now even you would have to admit that you would believe that a $25 gift card meant that the card had a retrievable value of $25 towards a dining experience at any of the restaurants listed (and I did check to see what was available in my small rural area).  The fallacy of the transaction is that sure, its $25 but $5 at a time and redeemable at the rate of $5 per visit, per month, per party.  Compound that disappointment by the fact that it may not even be redeemable at the locations listed, due to difficulties between the provider and the restaurants.  I'm voicing my complaint here with Verizon for participating in such a shady practice.  Sure, everything may be within the letter of the law, but it doesn't mean that its ethical or right.  Verizon wants to use the rewards program to try and generate business and/or brand loyalty.  I'm voicing my displeasure with the result of the transaction.  Do I want my points back?  No, not really since the rewards auction process is such a calamity to begin with.  However, maybe my rant can prevent someone else from falling into the same trap.  The advice here is that if you plan to bid on an auction, I would highly, highly, highly recommend skipping over any of the aforementioned dining gift cards.

  • SMART REWARDS ARE SO FRUSTRATING

Smart Rewards Auctions are the Most FRUSTRATING thing. The people who created it, needs to be a customer & try it themselves.
This is not a fair program.  I have tried about 60 auctions & Never won. It has stopped on me being current leader at ZERO and then hold that for about 10 seconds & then change!!!! I only do points only because I have no chance of the ones with a timer. I don't have enough points & its ridiculous they make people click on a auctions for 4 hours!! Seriously please stop they way you do this auction.
I never had a problem/attitude against Verizon till now

Yeah, I have pretty much given up on it and I am one who has always loved online auction sites. Generally if you are smart enough to walk away when some over-eager bidder takes the bidding way too high, you can get some good deals.
But the design of this site is either a reflection of how poor the rest of the Verizon web site design is, which is pretty bad, or it was created specifically to make it hard, if not impossible, for someone to win a bid for less than what they want to allow. The suspicious pause at the end, before a sudden final update of a few bids that knocks you out of the winner slot, makes me think that the game is rigged and so I no longer waste my time with it other than to run a test now and then to see if anything has changed.
Fortunately the last of my contracts with Verizon will expire in January so I can continue to focus on paying off a couple of edge devices and shop around for a company that might have more restricted coverage, but does not feel that the customer is an expendable nuisance.

  • "Rewards" Program

The rewards program is horrible. I have almost 40,000 points but you cant really use them on anything. If I want a gift card I still need to pay out of pocket?? I do not know of any other "rewards" program that runs that way. The auctions are a wast of time. The final straw with it was today when I was logged in and waiting for the daily deal when it came up I added it to my cart and it showed 1 item in there. When I clicked on my cart to check out it was gone. By the time I went back out the cards were all in cart. This is a huge rip off and going forward I opted out of this program.

I have the same number of points as you, and really think it's just the luck of the draw if you can get anything.
I managed to get the $10 card today.  The past 3-4 times the page will sit and sit and eventually go to the next page with all items already in carts.

  • Can I use my Verizon Smart Rewards toward an iPhone 6 upgrade?

Can I use my Verizon Smart Rewards toward an iPhone 6 upgrade?

No.  Best you can do is try for auctions on gift cards, or look at the daily deals at 2pm EST for points only cards.

  • My Bestbuy reward status changed and is incorrect

I just logged into my account for first time in over month and I see Best Buy moved me from premier silver to basic and I spent well over the $1500 requirement last year.  I know many and i mean many of my purchases never got credit for reward zone points after the changes best buy made to policy when using points or finanacing offers but to not get the credit for the items being purchased $$$$ wise makes it horrible customer service.   Also I see all my points I have been saving up with the points banking option for points has removed my points and gave me a coupon I dont plan on using in time you have set it up to expire and I am asking and expecting this situation to be fixed.  I just dont understand how best buy can keep messing up this program and expect its customers to stay loyal.

Hi goku8169, and thank you for reaching out to us on the forum,
The My Best Buy™ program recently went through its downgrade process, so if your account does not have Elite or Elite Plus status, then you may not have qualified. To have requalified for Elite Plus status during the 2013 calendar year, you would need to have spent $2500 on eligible BestBuy.com and Best Buy store purchases.  If you spent $1500 in 2013, then you should have qualified for Elite status, which would still allow you to bank points.
I used the email address you registered with the forum to review your My Best Buy™ account, and I believe that I can clarify what status your account should have.  To go over your account in greater detail and ensure it is in-fact up-to-date, I will be sending you a private message.  You can check your private messages by logging into the forum and clicking on the envelope icon located at the top of the page.  I look forward to further speaking with you.

  • Very Urgent----Followon Docs after Auctions...

    Hi SRM Gurus,
We are using SRM 5.0 with LAC. I am able to create aucitons and publish them and the bidders are able to submit their bids online.
But iam not able to see the bids, when i click that auctions under "Process Auctions". Similarly when we click the Bidder/Bids in the header, the "Bid Status"coloum is empty.
Can anyone help, Am i missing any config steps or should it come automatically?
    Thanks,
    Bert.

    Hi Bert,
to access supplier bids, you have to wait for the end of the auction.
At that time only the supplier bids will be "finalized" and available from "Process Auctions".

  • What kind of reward program is this?

I encourage Verizon Wireless Customer Support to answer our questions and hear our complaints!!
1.) Why are the auctions set up the way they are? Why is it impossible to win one even with tons of points?
2.) Why can't we just save up a redeem points towards things that are on the auctions?
3.) Some people may be happy to spend $100 and a ton of points on a pair of sunglasses but not me. I will never buy anything that is listed under the merchandise because this stuff is way too pricey for me; I already struggle to pay my cell phone bill so how about being able to use my points towards my bill?
4.) Please look into the auctions and change how they are run, they obviously are not fair; ebay runs fair auctions these are not and If Verizon claims they are I want a detailed explanation on how they work.
Thank you in advance if I do get a truthful actual reply from Verizon, so far I am a very very unhappy rewards person who spends over $300 a month to Verizon because it is my main internet. I usually love Verizon and have nothing bad to say about them but this reward program has me angry: I would rather no reward program than this mess of a program!!

I agree, this is the most useless rewards I've ever seen.  Even for a gift card purchase, all it gives is a 10% discount (about a $5 discount on a $50 gift card, really!), and I can't even use more of my points. I don't understand why they are forcing how much points you are allowed to use.  And many of the products are expensive products that I wouldn't buy to begin with.
I will need to check out if it's worth using for data usage, if not then, I don't see the need for these points. They should have an option to use for donating to a charitable organization, at least it would be useful for something (maybe they do and I'm not looking in the right place?)

  • Is anyone else having trouble registering for Verizon Smart Rewards?

Over the past two days I have been trying to register for Verizon Smart Rewards.  I have tried doing so in both Safari and Firefox.  I log into my Verizon Account. In notifications section it says I have 24,800 points and click the link to learn more.I click "Register Now" and at this page (My Verizon Online Sign In - Verizon Wireless) I check both boxes "I Agree" and click continue.  I then get a message that says Registration Failed! Please try again later!  Yesterday I called the Verizon support number and they had the same result.  The only advice they had was to keep trying.  Is it broken?  If so, are they fixing it?  If not, is it user error?  Getting very frustrated!!!!!!!

It's a crappy program anyways. Have you tried from your cell phone. It works but you can't do the auctions from your cell phone. When I asked customer service about that they didn't have a real answer. And don't worry with only 24,800 points you won't be able to win most auctions and if you do your points will be gone in one auction. It's a bunch of **.

  • Smart Rewards Nightmare

The Smart rewards program is getting harder and harder to get any kind of benefit from. The auctions changed from 1-2 points per bid to up to 100 points per bid now making auctions cost over 100k when they used to be 3-8k points. I moved my attention to the daily deal instead to use my points for $5-$10 gift cards. Now the site crashes, things disappear from my cart, there is such a small quantity of gift cards and too many members logging in that crash the site. I also called customer service to complain and they initially told me it was my computer, but my computer is great and I have verizon internet as well. After speaking to 3 or 4 supervisors over the last 2 months, they admit there is a problem with their system, and low quantity of cards and they consider it like a game to see if you can get one, because it is only there for A FRACTION OF A SECOND at 2pm. I'm getting so mad about how much of my time they are wasting, and you have to speak to a supervisor to get them to tell you the truth to avoid having to compensate you for the broken system, and misleading benefit. I'm a 10 year verizon customer with 5 lines by the way. Thanks for a huge frustrating hassle verizon.

"Verizon costs more than any other cell service. Sprint is offering to cut your bill in half and pay your termination fees."
They may pay your early term fees, but make sure you are reading the small print.  As per the sprint website: Sprint Half Price Event.: "Discount applies to base monthly service plan only. Exclusions apply and new plan features may not be an exact match."
It only is half off the data (what data package are you on?), which is a savings, but it requires you to go into their easy pay program. That is like the edge. So you would have to pay anywere from $15-25+ per month per phone.
With 5 phones that is $75-125+ per month.  That eats way the discount, plus it could cost more.  Then you would have to figure in the less coverage area.  They also require you to give them your old phone or you would have to pay $200. If you have to cancel them early then you have to pay the amount in full right away (so is alot more then the Early Term Fee.  Scroll to the bottom of the page linked about and see everything there. Plus there is a lot of red tape on their data. To me the value is not there.
You could be paying more and they do not have the smart rewards program.  Even when it works (maybe rare. lol), you do still get the value of it.
