Rewind a podcast track

Hi all,
What makes the difference between a podcast track and any other track? One annoying thing with podcast tracks is that you can't rewind them. Whenever you start playing them, they start at the position you stopped listening, instead of restarting at the beginning, just like normal tracks.
I understand that this feature might be of some use for podcasts, but how do I disable it for a specific podcast track? How do I make a podcast track behave just like a normal track?
Thanks in advance

Select one or more tracks that you want to change, use Option-I (Mac) or CTRL-I (Windows) to open the info dialog. Change *Remember playback position* to No and click OK to apply.

  • How can i move a podcast track from one podcast to another?

I subscribe to a number of podcasts and  recenly some of them have started downloading to new podcast folders (One of them underwent a slight name change, and the others I'm not sure why). So now, some of my podcasts have two folders: one with the old podcasts and one where the new podcast download to. I want to keep all the tracks, because I reference them from time to time, but I hate having these extra folders. Is there some way to move podcast tracks from one podcast to another so I can consolidate these tracks?

    Use export/import.

  • Podcast tracks in playlists

it appears to be the case that if you add podcast tracks to a playlist and set the playlist to shuffle, the podcast tracks are skipped. is there any way around this? can i reformat the podcast tracks to that they'll play randomly in playlists like other tracks?

yes. select all the podcasts you want to do this to , and go to file -> get info. go to the Options tab, and go down to Skip When Shuffling:. from that menu, choose No. click ok. your podcasts will now shuffle as normal tracks would.

  • Can't import still images into a project or create a podcast track

I'd be grateful if anyone can explain why I can't import still images onto a track like you can easily do in garage band - in garage band you simply create a podcast track, then drag your photos onto it. However in logic, when I open the media browser i can get a photo folder up but it will not allow me to even look at the contents.
Also, why is it that the manual for logic express has nothing about how to import a movie to produce a movie score - and yet garage band can even do this.
    Thanks for any advice.

Have you tried "Working with Video" section of the manual? It's somewhere close to the end...
Logic works with audio, not images. That's why you can't import a photo, because media browser is used to locate audio files, mostly. And sometimes video.
I guess it works this way, you create a podcast with Logic, bounce it to mp3 or another compressed format. Then import it into GB and insert a photo.

  • Enhanced Podcast Not Showing Podcast Track

I created a number of enhanced podcasts using Garageband 09. All of them display the podcast track (artwork) just fine in iTunes. Only some of them display correctly in QuickTime. I was using QT to export them as 3gp files, but some of them show audio only. The one's that show correctly list both AAC, stereo and Apple Photo JPEG in the movie inspector info. Those that don't show correctly (audio only) only have AAC stereo info in the movie inspector. They were created with identical processes via Garageband 09. Any ideas?

I had forgotten that these files were actually duplicates made in iTunes. In iTunes I had a bunch of enhanced podcast files on a particular album. I needed to use some of the files on a different album I was creating. I attempted to not alter the first album by selecting the create AAC version under the Advanced menu. I took the newly created podcasts and did a mass information change to the new album name. It was in this process that the JPEG was lost.

  • Using features of a Podcast Track for Songs ...

I am experimenting with adding a Podcast Track to a Song, and setting up the chapters the same as my arrangement: Verse, Chorus, Bridge, Etc. This allows me to click to a section quickly with the insertion point right where I need it. (This is the only thing I really miss from my VS-1680 -- the location markers to get to a part in the song quickly!)
So far, it seems to work fine. I Share -- Send Podcast to iTunes and it seems to play regularly with no glitches. Does anyone know of why I would NOT want to do this? Is Sending a Podcast the exact same as sending a Song? Seems like the chapter markers can contain URL's and Artwork, but I am not utilizing that. Thanks for any insights...

    no
Guessing I should use the "higher" or "highest" quality settings in the Share dialog box?
it depends what you plan to do with the file.
uncompressed is highest fidelity, but very large in size. mp3 and aac are compressed, making them smaller, at the cost of fidelity.
uploading full quality 44.1K 24-bit files is not very realistic. at the same time, trying to Master an mp3/aac is rather silly since you're starting out with a file that's had 90% of its data thrown away.

  • Editing Multiple Photos in Podcast Track

I'm fairly new to Garageband and I'm using it for enhanced podcasting in a fourth grade classroom. I want to select multiple photos (100 or more) that have already been imported to the podcast track and set the time that they run to 2 seconds each. I'd like to do this all at once. Can anyone tell me how this is done? Thanks in advance.

I don't have a lot of experience with enhanced podcasts, but it looks like GB defaults the length of imported pics to 3 seconds (when you drag in multiple pictures). You can select all pictures in the track and shorten all of them to 2 seconds at once, but you'll create gaps and you will have to re-align them one by one. Maybe someone has an easier solution.

  • Old podcast track only appears in smartplaylist

I have an old podcast track that will only appear in a smartplaylist using the Podcast is true parameter. It's two years old and doesn't appear in any of the other menus on the left hand side. It's also in the iTunes Library.xml file, but directly editing that doesn't do any good, because that file gets regenerated from the binary file.
The actual file is long gone, just the listing in the index remains. Is there a way to remove that listing from the index? Thank you.

    Okay, here's the solution.
I ran over to http://dougscripts.com/itunes/ and installed the Super Remove Dead Tracks script. I ran it and huzzah. It's all good now.
    Thanks Doug.

  • PodCast: problem adding photos to the Podcast Track!

    Hi all,
I was just making my 1st podcast when I encountered a strange problem: I wanted to drag&drop photos from the media browser but not all of them worked!
Some photos could be dropped without a problem (instatntly visible by the green + ball sticking to the mouse pointer) while with others this green + icon doesn't appear and the photo won't drop into the Podcast Track.
I consulted the GB Help but to no avail.
However, I observed the following: all my photos in portrait format work and all my photos in landscape format don't work.
The photos are taken with my DSLR camera and have a resolution of 3008x2000 pixel.
So, together with the portrait/landscape observation: could it be that 2000 pixel by 2000 pixel is the max size of a photo so that it can be dropped onto the Podcast Track?
A double click on a photo in the media browser doesn't open GB's own little photo editor (opposed to when you double click on a photo in the markers track list) so one can't crop the photos within GB.
So, do I need to crop the landscape 3008x2000 images in iPhoto (or any other sim. app.) first?
    Any comments?
Thanks a lot & cheers from Germany,
    Stefan.

    Hey Stefan,
A couple of potential issues here. First off you may be right that there's some type of file size limit issue, either because there's a max filesize built-in, or because since you're able to "scale" your photos for display within the chapter/markers area, maybe GB wants a file it knows it can work with reasonably.
Secondly, I'd be wary of putting lots of large photos in your cast, as that may contribute to giant file sizes on export. The one thing you might want to test is to see what GB does with the photos when you've selected the Preferences>Export>Set Artwork to recommended size for Podcasts check box.
Or maybe try unchecking that box (if you have it checked now) and then see if a big photo can then be brought in.
What I've been doing with large photos is exporting them from iPhoto at a smaller scale, then importing them into a new album, or in the case of images from the web, just adding them to iPhoto and scaling them in GB in the chapter markers area. I also use Photoshop to "pre-scale" but I wouldn't think it was necessary just for a Podcast.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • Recognizing Previously Downloaded Podcast Tracks as Podcast

Hi, I had to rebuild my computer recently and when I reinstalled iTunes it imported all of my music and podcasts with no problem other than many of my previously downloaded podcast tracks show up in the normal library but are not shown in the podcast listing as having been downloaded.
This is a fairly petty issue I know since they still play and all that, I just like to see all the podcasts that I have downloaded and listened to listed under the podcasts tab. Now it looks like I neither downloaded nor listened to them.
It seems to be a mix of .mov and .mp4 files, not any one type specifically.

How about deleting it later? I've gotten some music on a podcast and would like to add it to my music library, but I have a playlist that lists podcasts and I can't find an option to take those songs out of my 'podcast' playlist.
I'm using a mac with the latest OS X and iTunes.

  • IOS5 podcast tracks in an episode

I am subscribed to several podcasts that DJs put in tracks from different artists, and i used to be able to see the name of the track and its artist in each segments in each episode of the podcast, After upgrading my iPad to iOS5, I can only see the titles for each episode instead of the track names inside an episode. How can we solve this?

Create playlists or smart playlists for the Podcasts.

  • Podcast Tracks

Well I downloaded a some podcasts but when I play them on my iPod and one podcast is done it goes back to the main menu instead of the next podcast. Does anyone know how I can make them to keep on playing?

Right now, the only thing you can do is put them in playlists. (the individual episodes). You could set up a smart playlist to automatically add new ones.
Tell Apple it should be different...
    Send Apple Your Feedback
I've sent feedback several times, as I think there should be a setting or way to make them play one after the other instead of going back to the main menu...

  • Photos on Podcast Track

I have created several podcasts created in Garageband & even have them up on iTunes...all going well. However, even though I have my preferences set to configure the photos to 300x300, sometimes the tops of the photos are getting cut off. Is there a solution to this? If not in Garageband, then something to do in iPhoto? Please let me know the fix.
    Thanks!

Thanks. I found out afterwards that there is an artwork editor in Garageband that allows you to position your photos. Thanks for your help as well.

  • Trouble Rewinding when playing a Podcast.

    Hello,
I have an iPod Classic and I'm trying to rewind a Podcast during playback by pressing the center button and then swiping around the wheel.
However, I find that the display quickly skips to the Volume control instead.
Could there be a setting that is wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Regards,

    Do you play 'Video' podcast?
If you are playing a video, it suspends as you close the ipod app.
This happens even in music with video such as video clip.

  • Shifting video clips along a podcast video track?

I have created a short video in iMovie, and imported it into my podcast in Garageband 3.0.4 (104.7). It imports into a Video track, replacing the podcast track. However, unlike other tracks imported it won't import at the position of the playhead, only at the very beginning of the podcast.
How can I get it to import at the point I want, say 30 seconds along the track? Or, how can I shift the video (preferably locked to its sound track so it remains in sync, as you can do in iMovie) and move it along the track further? The video sound will move, but the video won't. I want to record other sounds in Garageband on the male voice track and jingles track, and have these before the video track starts to play.
    Thanks so much!

that's just the way gb works, it's not a video editor.
you would need to add the 30 seconds in iMovie before dropping it into gb.
