RFC connection not disconnected on timeout/logoff.
Dear Sir,
We have two systems of ITS, one with ITS 620/patch 16 connected to ECC 5.0 and second, with ITS 620/patch 4 connected with 4.7.
The one with patch 16 is perfectly working while the one with patch 4 have following problem.
1. ~event=logoff doesn't close the RFC session to R/3.
2. After the timeout period i.e set in ~timeout and ~usertimeout parameters set in global services, the RFC connection doesn't get closed.
Can this be a patch level problem?? or do the following R/3 parameters with 0 value have impact??
a. em/stat_log_timeout
b. gw/deallocate_timeout
c. gw/reg_keepalive
d. gw/timeout
Please guide...
Hi All,
We are facing the same problem. but we are not using ITS, we are using
WAS 6.20 on CRM4.0
Problem is: Open RFC connections build in the system, are not closed after the user sessions are closed / terminated
Can anyone help us to solve this problem.
Thanks

RFC Connection remains open after portal logoff
Hi,
We have configured Universal Worklist in our EP7 EHP1 SPS4 Portal.
When a user connects to the Portal and launches the UWL it creates an RFC connection to the backend ECC. However, when the user moves away from UWL iview or logs out or closes the browser the RFC connection in the backend still
remains and is released only after the timeout value reached as set in ECC.
Are there any settings on the portal or ECC to release the session immediately once user moves away from UWL or logs out of portal ?
Thanks,
Savy.Hi my friend
It costs time and resources to establish an RFC connection, therefore it is not immediately deleted but maintained by the system to be reused. But in case there're special purpose to control RFCs, here're 2 parameters to do so:
The parameter gw/gw_disconnect is a timeout in seconds to close the TCP connection between two SAP gateways if there is no RFC connetion on it for the given timeout. But if there is an active RFC connection onit it will not be closed even if there is no traffic on that RFC connection. Thats why you need another parameter.
The parameter gw/keepalive is used to periodically check all active RFC (and other) gateway connections if there was no traffic on them for the given time.

E61 GPRS connection not disconnecting
Hello,
I have recently updated my E61 to the latest firmware 3.xxx
Now I have noticed a strange thing where built in email client does not disconnect from GPRS at all, unless I manually disconnect it.
With previous firmware 2.xxx and my settings of "Check every 30 minutes" it would start connection, check email, then disconnect. Now, connection is always ON even though the setting is still set to every 30 minutes.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to make it behave as before, disconnecting after checking email?
Any help will be appreciate it.
ThanksThis is simply an educated guess as I'm short on time right now, but will look into the issue in more depth later.
Have you checked your connection options (tools, settings, connection)? There is an option for GPRS connectivity there. The available options will be 'When Available', and 'When Needed'. I'd start by checking the firmware update hasn't changed this option to When Available.
If that is not the answer, I'll research the problem more thoroughly.
All the best,

Some connections not disconnecting
I am running QTSS on OS X Server 10.3.9
We are streaming 5 live video streams 24/7, each originating from a dedicated Mac Mini using Wirecast software as the source. None of the streams are using the announce protocol, just straight unicast. We also host a few on-demand videos too.
Our server is accumulating "dead" connections (outbound to the internet) for 2 of the 5 live streams, and none of the on-demand videos. I define a dead stream as one that has been sitting at "0kbps" for hours or days.
Other than the UDP ports that the streams are pointing at, which have to be unique to distinguish the streams, all are configured the same.
I have tried stopping and re-starting QTSS, and re-booting the server. This does, of course, clear out the accumulated connections. But, they just start building up again as the affected streams get viewed.
Any ideas? This bug has been fixed in 4.1.1b. Below is the bug ID.
Software Version 4.1.1b Resolved Caveats
The following caveats were resolved in software version 4.1.1b:
CSCsu65835-The port mapper (port 135) freezes when non-port mapper traffic is connected to the port and the EPM application accelerator is enabled. EPM server port 135 is used by certain applications to exchange dynamically generated end-ports for data transfer. Non-EPM-service traffic for server port 135 can be affected, which leads to application unavailability. Not all applications that use non-EPM service on port 135 are affected. Most typical enterprise applications such as the Outlook client and Exchange server (e-mail) that use the EPM service are not affected. However, other applications such as Mobile-server retrieving voicemail from the Exchange server, can be affected by this caveat. -

There is a RFC connection not working connection test fails.
I found out the RFC is using a a program id that is not registerd.
When I register the program on os level like rfcexec -r -a <program_id> -g <hostname> -x <sapgw> the connection test on the rfc works.
The problem with the rfcexec is that it just works as long as the os session is active.
From what I´ve read I need to configure this on java side in the web dynpro content administrator.
Can you help me with that ? When I try to click Create jco destination I get an error.Hello Vioar,
rfcexec is only a standard program for testing, you sould not register it for your application on the gateway.
Since you are getting "User is not allowed to read any data..." - did you logon with the correct user? Does this user have enough authorizations?

Establishment of the RFC-connection
Hi!
I am about to set up the RFC connection to SAP system from SAP Solution Manager.
The following connection between the systems/server was configured:
my server --> SAP Router 1 --> SAP Router 2 --> SAP System
How should the RFC-connection look like?
The errors I getting are:
Logon Connection Error
Error Details Error when opening an RFC connection
Error Details ERROR: timeout during allocate
Error Details LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host on host dzla9005 (wp 1)
Is there some special SAP notes for that issue?
Thank you very much!

Error 'Program not registered' while testing RFC connection PI_RFC
Hi Basis Experts
I am having problems while testing an RFC connection PI_RFC in one of our PI quality system.
Here is the Error log
Logon Connection Error
Error when opening an RFC connection
ERROR: program PI_RFC not registered
LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host bp1xeuaa202 / sapgw01
DETAIL: TP PI_RFC not registered
Details COMPONENT: SAP-Gateway
COUNTER: 15866
MODULE: gwr3cpic.c
Details RETURN CODE: 679
We tried restarting the JCO-RFC provider service in VA,also tried restarting the Gateway service, tried registering the RFC using below command
rfcexec u2013g PI_RFC -a bp1xeuaa202 -x sapgw01
rfcexec u2013D PI_RFC
the command didnt gave any output also in SMGW tcode we didnt get the entry(PI_RFC) under system type as registered server.
Also we tried changing the Gateway hostname and service name in SM59.
Still we are facing the same issue, can anyone please help us in resolving this issue.
Regards
SyedHi,
It seems to like problem with your program is not registered. As suggested by spantaleoni, you can go through.
Here Program Id must be case sensitive. Once again check with your program Id.
And, you have to register your program id in Visual Administrator.
Goto Visual Administrator:
In that Select Cluster>Server>Services-->JCo RFC Provider
Then enter the Program Id and gw host & service.
Hope this helps to you.

thanks for your reply.
./rfcexec -a(PROG_ID) -gssapprod -xsapgw21 &
The syntax you're providing refers to UNIX systems, but I did similar thing on our Windows system - I tried all of the following methods (unfortunatelly without success):
rfcexec -a(PROG_ID) -gssapprod -xsapgw21
full_path_to_rfcexec.exe -a(PROG_ID) -gssapprod -xsapgw21
rfcexec -a(PROG_ID) -gssapprod.domain -xsapgw21

BOEDGE - SM59 Connection RFC = Program Not Registered
Hello,
I installed on a server Windows Server 2003 SP1 32bit:
- BO Edge 3.1 (BuildVersion = 12.1.0.914)
- Java Connector 2.1.9
- Integration Kit for SAP 3.1 SP3 (BuildVersion = 12.3.0.601)
I see on the CCM (Central Configuration Manager) my services correctly started:
Apache Tomcat -- Running
BW Publisher Service -- Running
Server Intelligence Agent -- Running
I installed on the BW server the transport order of BOBJ INTG for "BOBJ INTG for SAP XI 3.1 FixPack 3.1" (BuildVersion=12.3.1.684).
I created a RFC connection type TCP/IP and test my new connexion and I have a error message:
Connexion Erreur connexion

An idea?Hi,
In Central Management Console ie, Admin application of BOE, you need to configure the BW system. Use the below URL,
http://<serverhostname>:<port>/CmcApp
After logging in Select the Authentication and SAP as authentication type. Regarding how to configure, follow the configuration steps mentioned in the below article:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/a00ee3b2-5283-2b10-f1bf-8c6413e0898f
Once you import the roles with the above configuration, the user with which you are validating the RFC connection will be imported in the BOE.
Now, verify the RFC in the BW system.

I've been searching the forum, manuals, troubleshooting, etc., and haven't come across any solution yet. Or even this particular problem described or experienced. I wonder if anyone might have an answer, or steer me the right direction. I am new to this stuff, please bear with me.
My iPod nano has power, the screen lights up, battery icon shows fully charged, but one second, or maybe less, after it's connected to the computer, the only thing I get is the 'do not disconnect' warning message. No action, not even a pulsating battery icon. (It does that, right, when it's charging?) Even after 20 minutes, with the battery icon on the 'pod screen showing a fully charged battery, I don't get anything on the iPod screen, just the 'do not disconnect'.
I did many resets with the hold and menu and center buttons, and even a restore for the iPod, losing the little music I had on it, and still, the 'do not disconnect' is all I get. I have been closing iTunes and ejecting safely (I believe) via the finder. Remotely, it turns on, though I have nothing on it to listen to now. A few more tries at connecting to the computer, but still all that shows is the 'do not disconnect' message, and I can't do anything.
I've had the computer and iPod a little over two weeks. A few days ago, I did update the latest iTunes software, and today was the first time to connect the iPod since then, if that might have something to do with this and maybe solving it. Everything was fine up till today. Now, I'm kind of stuck here.
Any ideas?
Thanks

It's perfectly normal behaviour. When the iPod is connected to the computer you will always see the "do not disconnect" screen.
If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
You can do this by clicking on the iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes or the eject icon to the right of the iPod in iTunes. With a Mac, you can also drag the iPod into the trash.
If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music. -
5th Gen iPod freezes on "Do Not Disconnect" screen when connected to Mac
My iPod freezes on the "Do Not Disconnect" screen (partially backlit) when I plug it into my computer. I have a G4 eMac with standard USB connections. The ipod firmware is up to date.
This freeze doesn't occur ALL the time....just occasionally. The iPod does not appear on my desktop or in iTunes when this happens. I have to wait until the iPod discharges its battery completely before I can use it again (this sometimes takes a couple of days!).
Does anyone have any ideas? Or is anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks....

G4 eMac 700mhz Mac OS X (10.4.9) 768 MB RAMThanks for the replies.........I can't seem to find a solution to this....its annoying to say the least. Its just happened again this morning, though it's successfully sync'd on the last few occasions....it seems to be quite random.
One thing I've noticed is that it synced OK when iTunes wasn't open when I plugged it in. It appeared on the desktop, then I opened iTunes. This morning though it froze when iTunes was already open, so there may be an issue with iTunes (I updated this weekend to see if it was any different with the new version). I guess this will happen if you've got the ipod set to open iTunes automatically when connected too.
So, no solutions as yet.......I'm gonna get onto Apple to see if they have any answers. I'll get back to you all on this one.
PS: why no firewire capabilities on the new ipods?

My ipod was connected to my laptop and in the 'Do not Disconnect' mode. My computer rebooted after security scan and now my iPod is stuck in the 'Do not Disconnect' mode. The iPod will not turn off, nor will my itunes recognize it is connect.
Try a hard reset of the iPod. To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
