RFC model creation problem in NDS

Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem while creating a RFC model in NDS.
After providing all the logon informations to server, the editor says "Connect to SAP gaetway failed. Unknown hostname..."
Where as <b>I can connect to SAP system through the SAP gui</b> using the <b>same logon details</b>.
The Hosts file <b>does have entry for the hostname</b>.....Tried using a newer 7.0.10 version, but problem still persists.......
What might be the loose end here!!!!!!!!
As far I know, NDS uses tcp/ip protocol to connect to servers & the Host file entries should help it in getting connected to SAP.....
Does it use some other layer to connect??? HTTP???
Any pointers are welcome. Thanks in advance..
Regards,
Sandip

Hi Sandip,
It fetches and populates values from SAPLOgon.ini file stored on you machine.
Same file is used to show system list in SAPGUI logon pad.
So, If you are getting system on logon pad then it should show same in the dropdown.
One more point:
Is you backed system uses message server to rought to hte server? If so, then provide Host or IP of the message server instead oh Application server.

Bhavik

  • Prob. connecting to the R/3 thru NDS's SAP Logon Info. while Model Creation

    Hi,
I'm trying to create an RFC model in webdynpro. In the SAP Logon information screen, I entered all the neccessary information on the Single Server Tab (host name, Sys. No., client, username, pwd., lang.). When I click on Next it throws an error message saying that the user name is not authorized. But I am able to login to the system through SAPGUI though with the same information. I'm unsure what the problem is. Could it be a firewall issue, service issue, any configuration I'm missing??? Please help me out!
    Thank You in advance,
    Ashwin

    hey Rich,
Thank you for the help. I know that was a very wierd problem. It's fixed now. What happened was that, we are running 2004s and I wasn't aware of the fact that you need NWDS 7.0 to support that. I was running 2.0.9. I just now installed 7.0.7 and the connection to the backened was established as smooth as a cheese cake. Neways, I just lost a fistful of hair in last couple of days. Hope this info helps somebody who encounters the same problem. Points are assigned to you for your effort though...
    Thank you again!!!

  • Problem in displaying a field in webdynpro using Adaptive RFC model

    HI,
I created a webdynpro application using adaptive RFC model and i have a problem in displaying one of the output fields.
When i execute the function module it is giving the exact value for my output field in this case telephone number (of type STEXT which is char with length 40).But when i am trying to display that telephone number in webdynpro application it is taking only first 4 digits.
i deleted the model and recreated it still it doesnot work.
please let me know how to resolve it.
points will be awarded for sure
    Bala

    Hi Bala,
Whenever you reimport the model server restart is necessary otherwise the changes will not get reflected. You will get an error when you deploy the application. There is no go around except restarting the server as the meta data gets cached in the server as long as the server is runnig. So, Once you restart the server the cache will be cleared.
Check once again whether you are fetching data from correct BAPI field. Still problem persist try debugging.

  • Problem with Adaptive RFC Model.

    Hi.
I have a problem with creating an Adaptive RFC Model.
When i choose a function from function list, that appears, and click next, the model wizard display log information with following text:
<b>[Warning]:     Creating a connection with Metamodel language <en> failed.  Continuing with language <ru>
[Fatal]:     com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: Missing R3NAME=... or ASHOST=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx
    [Info]: .................</b>
The SLD server and SLD bridge is running.
    How this can be fixed?
    Thank you.

    Hi
Open SAPLogon. Select the server profile say "Dev" and click on groups. In the window that appears enter the 3 letter id as System id. This you would get when you logon to SAP and see the right hand bottom corner. It would be a 3 letter "XXX". If not ask your basis administrator.
In the Message server space enter the Hostname or ip address (try both in case one of them doesnt work) of your R/3 server. Click on Generate List. You should get some groups appearing in the view below.
If it works then your message server is working fine. Let me know if that helps you.
    regards

    Bala

    Hi,
    Change this line of code:
    wdContext.nodeZ_cr().bind(input);
    to
    wdContext.nodeZ_Crif_Get_Employee_For_User_Input().bind(input);
    Try executing your application now.

  • Error while creating a RFC model for WD for Java

    Hi,
While trying out the example(TutWD_FlightList_Init.zip) for model programming in the NDS,I got the following error when I try to create a model:

Message          Internal error - see detail information in exception trace
Exception     org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Failed to execute runnable (java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError)
Can anybody help?Is there any place in NDS to see the detailed error message?
    thanx in advance,
    Bhupesh

I modified the xml file as described in the forum. But the error persists.
    One interesting thing is:
When I create model after restarting the NDS,I get the following error:
org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Failed to execute runnable <i>(java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: JCO.classInitialize(): Could not load middleware layer 'com.sap.mw.jco.rfc.MiddlewareRFC'

I get the NoClassDef found error next time onwards,
Where do I get the 620.0.1374 version of librfc?

  • Login failed error while importing an adaptive RFC model

    Hi there,
I am trying to import a adaptive RFC model for a BAPI from a 46D system, to which I have connected using VPN from my WAS J2EE server. I have given the login details as Single server(Not load balancing), and given the user login details. However, I am not able to proceed further because it gives me the error 'Name or password is incorrect, please re-enter'. This is strange because I am giving the correct name and password, and I am able to login to this system through SAP GUI using same logon credentials.
I am confused as to what it is expecting to move forward. I have tried changing case of the user name, restarting my WAS etc. The client is correct, and the login language is EN.
Could anybody have any clues or have you faced a similar problem?
    thanks in advance,
    LM

I have had the same problem.
I think whoever programmed the logon routine at that point should be fired immediately and banned from programming for life! Logging on is a very basic and well-understood task, and programmed gozillions of times since 1940s. Common sense and unwritten rules of programming dictate simply if you make something case-sensitive, then you should accept an input in its original form (i.e. password in smalls, or whatever) but not change it to uppercase and then work case-sensitively. Either this, or you program everything case-insensitively.
Fire that programmer or give him to us gollumvoice

  • Importing adaptive RFC model in NWDS CE 7.1 doesn't work

    Dear all,
I am unable to create an adaptive RFC model in my Web dynpro DC in NWDS CE 7.1.
    This is what happends:
I select create model from the web dynpro, fill in name and jco destinations on the first page and move to the second page where I fill in SAP login information.
After clicking next I come to "Select RFC modules", but I never see the studio logging in to the server system. The result is that I dont find any function modules when i click search.
I am new to NWDS 7.1 so I suppose there is a setting that I have missed.
Have anyone else experienced the same problem and solved it?
I currently have an old SAP system (NW04) and a new system (NWCE7.1). On my PC I have installed NWDS 04 and NWDS CE7.1. The old studio can connect to both the new and old backend system just fine but the new studio cant connect to any of them.
I am very grateful for any help or pointers in the right direction.
    Sincerely,
    Richard Linnander

Never mind. I solved this myself.
It was caused by DLL-hell. I was running an old version of librfc32.dll that was for NWDS 04. Works fine with the version that comes fresh with install of NWDS CE 7.1

    Hi SDN,
I am trying to develop an application using Import Adaptive RFC Model, while creating a model i could not able to connect to the backend system after giving the single server parameters. Thanks for your quick response and informative threads.
Actually in order to import an adaptive rfc model

    Group:
(in Tcode: SLMG i have added the group public also)
    client details:
After entering the required details either in Single Server or Load balancing and clicked the next button  I could not able estabilish a connection to the backend R/3 and get the list of Bapi's or RFc's. Instead i am getting a pop up message "User Name or Password Wrong". I could not able to proceed from here.
But with the same above parameters i could able to logon to R/3 from SAP Logon Pad. I have tried by giving the user name in Cap's and small letters but no use.
As i was strucked at the intial step while creating the model but not during the execution of the program, as far as my knowledge is concerned i think we no need to worry on SLD or JCO connections during the creation of the model. Please correct me if i am wrong and suggest me to rectify the error.

  • Nullpointer exception in SAP code (RFC model related)

    Hi,
Some threads have already been opened on this issue, but none of them give me a solution.
The problem is that a Nullpointerexception is thrown when I create a new Input element (to bind it to the input node of my rfc model).
As you can see in the stack trace, the nullpointerexception is thrown in SAP code.
This happens for all function modules I've created myself (even the simplest ones with no parameters/no code), but for the SAP BAPIs it works???
So this is not an issue related to Javaconnectors/my java code because it works for BAPIs (I'm doing exactly the same).
I've already restarted the J2EE server, recreated the whole application, tested with new applications (to avoid any caching problems) but nothing works.
I've been trying to resolve this issue for several hours without success. It's really frustrating.
    Any help appreciated!
    Jeroen

I suddenly realized there is one last option and it works: I managed to sidestep the problem by doing the rfc via an R/3 SAP system that forwards the call to the CRM system. (The CRM 5.0 system is the one causing the nullpointerexception).
    Maybe some incompatibilities between J2EE/WDP SP14 & CRM 5.0?

  • Access rfc-model over an scheduled message-driven-bean

    Hi there
The problem is, that I've got a WebDynPro Project in which one a RFC-Model exists.
In this project I do also have my singleton-classes which one hold the data of the rfc-model
during the period of their lifetime. I did publish the singleton-pointer/reference in the jndi.
Within the SAP Java Scheduler (there is a tutorial @ sdn) I've created a ejb which
should run for example every hour. This one is of course in an other container (because of that i do use the jndi)
So i run the ejb and get the reference of my singleton over the jndi. Till here every
    thing works fine!
Now I do call a method of the singleton (in the ejb) which should open an jco-connection over the existing model and the following error appears:
Couldn't load new data! Problem found:
Unable to access Task Scope in DynamicRFCModelClass. Either run in Engine, or turn Test mode on in WDModelFactory!
I read already something about this test-mode, but it isn't recommended at all to activate this mode!
So the J2EE has the reference but can't access the task scope. I tried to select the task-scope with the ejb, but
i didn't found any solution till now.
    Has anybody an idea?
    Regards Marco

  • JCO$Exception when creating RFC model

    Hi all,
I'm getting this fatal error when creating an RFC model in Web Dynpro for Java (connecting to a BW system):
    com.sap.mw.JCO$Exception: Missing R3NAME=... or ASHOST=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx
I have absolutely no clue what's going wrong...
The RFC model gets created, but when running the application it doesn't work...
    Any help appreciated!
    Jeroen

    Raj,
    Thanks for your reply.
I had already solved the problem... After a long time I found out it was due to the language: when creating an RFC model one should use the language of SLD.
    kind regards,
    Jeroen

  • Call to RFC model

I need to call the method execute() of RFC model in my webdynpro inside a task.
Input Parameters of abapi are in the context of webdyinpro  that is mapped to BPM context. The problem is that when i run abapi inside wdDoInit() method of webdynpro , the context of webdynpro not yet  initialized.
What webdynpro method i must use to run my abapi???

The issue is that the usage of embedded components comes with a few caveats you need to be aware of. E.g. the following:
Using Web Dynpro component usages at runtime, data is set to Web Dynpro context elements at a certain point of time in the Web Dynpro componentu2019s lifecycle. Consequently data processing of data that is set from an outside (loader) Web Dynpro component, for example from the process desk, should be done afterwards. Referring to the hook methods of a Web Dynpro component, this is after the component controlleru2019s wdDoInit() method.

Hence, the WD context has not yet been injected from the outside in the wdDoInit() call.
