after you work out with this. you can go ahead with the development.
What will be the role of SAP in all this?
Commercial applications of bar code have extended to virtually every industry. SAP in 1999 came up with a product called SAPConsole. SAP Console helped in sending the Barcode data from scanner to SAP system. Typically scanned data form RFID based devices are translated and processed to backend SAP system.
SAP Console is now extended to MI with SAP NetWeaver framework. NW- MI is a part of People integration in NW stack. RFID solutions will need SAP Console & a Telent server. you can even think of working in MI technology, you will perhaps sit in middleware programming while generating tables, BAPIs, and BAPI wrappers.
scope of RFID and its future prospects,
I see there is a lot of scope in SAP in Retail industry. there is one such doc which wil help you..have a look at it.

hope this helps..I a working on SAP-Netweaver MI. There are quite an APIs whcih will be helpful for the development. you can either use SAPConsole.
all the best.

Hi All, As we all know SAP has released AII to support RFID implementation to speedup shipping/receiving process.
Can anyone help me in identifying companies/organizations that have already implemented and running AII for their RFID solution.
    thanks,

Hi Pradeep, Thanks for your response. Wal-mart uses RFID but not SAP AII. I did a google on North American diesel corporation, but did not find one with that name.
Can anyone please give me a list of successful implementations of SAP AII ( especially in North America)
    thanks,

  • Need to read Hex data format for Handheld device. (SAP AII RFID )

    Hello,
we developed a custom screens for packing, unpacking, tag commission.. etc for handheld device for my client. the Serial number field  type is /ain/barcode. Its working fine. but for the new system need to read the Hex format. I created a new field in the screen. but the handheld device is not reading the Serial number in Hex format.
Could anyone suggest me how to read Hex data in Handheld devices. We are using Motorola MC9090 Series.
    Regards,
    Kamal

    Hi
Are you using the reader to read an RFID tag or for reading barcodes.
Ideally, if you read an EPC Gen2 RFID tag, for example, the 96 bit encoded EPC is read and that can be converted to its equivalent  HEX format for posting the observation to SAP AII.
In case of barcodes, the string is read as is printed on the barcode.

  • RFID in 46C - AII and XI or NOT

    Hi,
we are thinking to implement RFID technology, but we don´t have AII and neither XI.
What do you think that is the best way to begin?
What are the advantadges of install AII (including extra cost for my client) and XI.
-Can i integrated RF without AII-XI? How?
-Do you know the cost in price and time to do it with AII-XI?
    We are in SAP/R3 46C.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I hope you have discovered your answer by now, However if it is still open...
-Can i integrated RF without AII-XI? How?
AII is the only SAP product which can help in RF, how ever all communication between R3 and AII takes place using IDocs carried over XI. In case you do not want to implement AII you may scout the market for any RFID device + workflow software, these should be able to talk to the R3 system with IDocs and receive IDocs from R3, thus solving the communication issue. SAP4.6C dose have place to maintain EPC codes on material master thus solving the issue of resolving materials with ID's read by the RFID reader. If the third party tools does not offer a place to persist the R3 material to ID relationships the comparision logic will have to be written in R3, something like and BADI or a user exit.
The next question i guess has already been answered, AII will come with XI and therefore netweaver.
    Thanks.

  • Details about RFID with AII and XI.

    Hi,
I do have few more doubts, we have purchased hand held readers from Symbol and Intermec. As of now we are using .Net as intermediary along with the SDK's provided by them. Can I have the process of integration with SAP either using XI or AII and XI.
Will there be any documentation for the process of Integration I mean the configuration part needs to be done in XI, AII and R/3 systems. If so where could I get that. Our requirement is to have an integration with SAP.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bharadwaj Kolluru.

    Hi Bharadwaj,
On similar lines as you mentioned .I have implemented one of the RFID -SAP application using INTERMEC passive devices.
For the RFID IMPLEMENTATION we were using the VC++(mfc) and the T6 API'S.
Refer one my techcnial paper highlighting the details mentioned above
Direct Link of the document is as under
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c444f8e8-0d01-0010-4d9b-c6ff68e64519.
The case study which I have mentioned in this approach is a demo application.
I should say if you got to implement any of the RFID-SAP application with this approach then you have to do the feasibility study in all aspects both cost and time wise.Hope this should help you.

Q: Are there differences between version 2.1 and 4.0 ?
A: The interface has no changes from AII 2.1 to AII 4.0.

    Hi Sara,
SAP Device Controller Interface is the interface that will be used by device controller softwares to send data to SAP AII and vice versa. Device controllers filter the RFID reads and send a unique read event to SAP AII. SAP AII on receiving this message processes it. It can be the case that as part of processing we also require to send data back to devices/controller or send a command such as tag commissioning. At this time also the same interface is used.

  • RFID - SAP AII

    Hi all,
Need some infomation on SAP AII and also how to relate RFID with SAP AII and also SAP Data base,
How the data will be filtered in SAP AII?
If anyone knows regarding this let me know
    Thanks,
    -Teena.

    Hi Teena,
    <b>SAP RFID Solution Package</b>
The SAP RFID solution package provides a complete auto-ID middleware solution connecting RFID data directly from auto-ID data capture sources, such as RFID readers and device controllers, and integrates the data directly into enterprise applications . It converts raw RFID data into business process information by making the associations from key business rules, master data, and transactions to raw RFID data .
    <b>SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure</b>
Auto-ID Infrastructure is compatible with SAP R/3 4.6C or greater, and it also has adapters for SAP Warehouse Management, SAP Business Information Warehouse, SAP Supply Chain Event Management, SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization, and all SAP NetWeaver components.
Auto-ID Infrastructure is designed to synchronize EPC and RFID information into your ERP systems by providing a complete, multidimensional data model of RFID-enabled assets, including:
    <b>1.EPC number
    2.Asset location
    3.Status
    4.Last RFID read point
    5.Handling unit number
6.Packing hierarchy association (such as item, item-to-case, or case-to-pallet)</b>
It then maps this data to your SAP R/3 system via association to handling units (HUs). Handling unit headers include a standards-based HU number, weight, volume, and dimensions. HU content includes material number, quantity, unit of measure, batch number, plant number and location, and stock category (such as consignment), as well as serial number and inspection lot data.
These HUs are then associated with EPC numbers and are integrated into the appropriate transaction for processes such as production orders, transfer orders, sales orders, delivery (ASNs) and receipt, shipment, picking and packing, and inventory move and packing operations.
Because it is built on SAP Web Application Server, Auto-ID Infrastructure supports multiple communication interfaces (HTTP, SOAP, WSDL, SOCKET/ TCPIP), as well as mobile interfaces to PocketPC 2003 and Mobile Linux (Sharp).
<b>It runs on Windows (XP, 2000, NT), Unix, and Linux, and supports Oracle, SAP DB, DB2, and Microsoft SQL Server.</b>This should answer your query.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pawan P.Khilari

  • SAP AII (Auto-ID Infrastructure) to  BizTalk RFID  scenario

    Hi Everyone,
did some one work on this type of project ....
This project is <b>to develop a connector between SAP AII (Auto-ID Infrastructure) and BizTalk RFID for handling RFID related activities.</b>
    Quick response would be appreaciated.....
    Cheers,
    Raghavesh

    Hi Raghavesh,
If you want to use a Connector to communicate between Biztalk and SAP AII..you can use .Net connector available.
The other way is SAP AII uses XI for Communication...so you can use webservices between Biztalk and XI. The below document should be helpful
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/7521a237-0701-0010-499b-b3285b789c0d
Use SOAP adapter for  BIZTALK .
Use  plainHttp adapter for XI .

  • SAP AII & Sun Java RFID Architecture

    Hello,
has anyone implemented or planned a RFID scenario with SAP AII and Sun Java RFID architecture going togheter?

  • Mobile RFID readers with AII

    Hi
May I request some body to help me understand the difference between using Mobile RFID readers with WebDynpro application ( scan data filling text boxes ) vrs connecting Mobile RFID readers as logical device similar to Fixed RFID readers. Is there pros and cons.
    Advance thanks
    Ash

    hi,
if you use mobile reader with WD (or sapconsole or web sap console)
the EPCs are always transfered to your keyboard's buffer
that's why they appear on your screen - so it's pretty slow
if you want to read 100 or 1000 EPCs if you compare to fixed reader
on the other hand mobile readers are....mobile
so you can cary them around
    Regards,
    michal

  • RFID on SAP BUSINESS ONE

Hello, we are starting a project for making inventory movements using RFID, specially the options "receipts from production" and "sales orders".  I've read about the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface, is this for SAP Business One too, or is it only for another version of SAP? Which solution is there for SAP Business One?, can this be accomplished with the SDK
    I'll appreciate your responses.
    Thanks,
    Vicente

    Hi
the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface describes the interface between SAP Auto-ID solution and an RFID device controller.
    Configuration Guides:
    http://service.sap.com/scm -> RFID -> Detailed Information
SAP AII supports the ALE-interface and the so called classic message interface that consists of an XML command messages (send from SAP to the DC) and XML notification messages (send from DC to SAP). Its based on XML/PML, so you can use it with any system with know to handle XML.
I don't know if the is something special for Business One
