RFID integration

Hi All,
Could any one please clear some of my Queries regarding RFID integration with ERP
I have gone through all blogs by John Carlson, Michal, marilyn Pratt, but still I'm not clear about
1. Can we integrate RFID to ERP with out using AII
2. Any step by step guides would be really helpfull.
Cheers,
Smith

HI
1. Can we integrate RFID to ERP with out using AII
Basically there are 4 scenarios available in AII4.0 version.
Inbound integration with ERP ERP
outbound integration with backend ERP
RTI scenario (for Returnable Tracking Items) and Integration with Kanban(PP).
For companies that already have deployed a significant infrastructure round ERP,SCM, or CRM solutions, RFID now plays a role in making substantial changes to enhance existing processes. The key RFID-enabling component of SAP NetWeaver is SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure (SAP AII), which forms the gateway for SAP applications into real-world RFID data. SAP AII models and manages RFID processes and provides a business context for raw RFID data. SAP AII works seamlessly with other
components such as SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure, SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence, and SAP Mobile Infrastructure. SAP also provides several preconfigured, RFID-enabled business processes like supply chain execution, asset management, and product tracking and authentication.
2. Any step by step guides would be really helpfull.

  • RFID integrated Mobile Application

    Hi Experts,
I'm woking on developing a simple mobile application.
In the scenario, application will be developed using NWDS and data for the fields of the application will be fetched from a RFID tag.
Experts, kindly forward a simple tutorial on developing Mobile Application integrated with RFID.
    Regards,
    Romi Malik

    Dear Romi,
Refer to the NWDS - MDK help/ Developing mobile applications help under Help->Contents for how to use the RFID api. Development of the RFID integrated smart sync mobile application is in no way different to developing other smart synce mobile applications.
Check out the following notes for released drivers and hence supported models and specific installation instructions:
853397 - Additional Information for the PIOS Architecture.
1057759 - Delivered Drivers for Peripherals in SAP DOE

  • SAP AutoId scenario

    Hi All,
Could you please tell me how many days it will take to do RFID scenario, if the landscape are ready...
Landscape : RFID, SAP AutoID, XI and R/3 System.
    Scenario : RFID -> SAP AutoId -> XI -> R/3 System.
Do we need to do any coding in AutoId?
    Regards
    Sara

    Hi Sara,
The steps to perform the below mentioned scenario, there is a document availalbe for that on SAP Service Market Place. You need a S-User ID for that.
    Go to
    service.sap.com/rfid --> Detailed Information --> SAP Auto ID 4.0 --> Outbond Processing Business Scenario.pdf
    Delivery Processing.pdf.
All these above documents will give you each and every step.
And i am not aware of the SAP XI adapter.
For RFID integration standard XI Content is availalble for SAP XI that will let you integrate SAP R./3 and SAP Auto ID

  • ****urgent help*** What is AII system ?

    Hi,
Our client wanted to run AII application . but we are not sure what is this for ?
    What is AII system ?
How we can use this ? Is there a seperate license for this instance . Can we install AII on exsting R/3 or XI system?
Please suggest asap.We have client discussion very soon.
    - Kristene

    Hi
AII (Auto Id Infrastructure) is an application that helps in a RFID integration.
You can connect RFID hardware devices to AII application and run business rules to enable tracking of assets to which RFID tags are applied.
Yes there's a separate license for it. You can install AII on existing R/3. But better way is to install separately and connect to it via XI.
For more details refer to these links:

  • Help-study material for rfid and sap integration required

please any body can help me to get study material for sap-RFID integration

Here's some additonal ideas from SAP Education:
Education website http://www50.sap.com/useducation.  Although the education website url will not direct the person to any specific courses if you type in 'RFID' and then press enter; seven courses that include RFID are listed and offered through SAP education.
The RKT website(Rampup Knowledge Transfer on Service Marketplace) https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/rkt-rfid will direct a person to RFID specific course material.
The http://www.sap.com/rfid website is another good site for RFID information but does not list education courses.  A person will find whitepapers and introductory information there.
    cheers,

  • RFID Laundry Tag,integrated into RFID-Guided Sortation Program for laundry

RFID systems can be used in a wide range of application since it provides an efficient and reliable means for identification. A typical RFID system consists of RFID tags or transponders which are used for storing and retrieving data via an RFID reader, and an antenna depending on the application.
Do you need to employ a mass of labor to sort the garments by material and throw them to the right washers in your laundry? Do you find it hard to keep track of the garments rented to the customers? RFID technology for laundry, which will benefit the laundry industry in a huge number of ways, such as eliminating errors in laundering orders and inventory counts, may help to figure out the above problems.
Early interest in RFID came from the developers of inventory control systems for commercial laundry processes, specifically for the higher valued rental garments. And the challenge as originally posed for RFID was to provide a means of automatically reading garments without a line-of-sight read requirement and provide a durable tag that could survive multiple washings. As a result, RFID  technology for laundry utilization is in the ascendant.
RFID in laundry application is proving immediate and long term benefits to garment management in process and lifecycle traceability. The DAILY RFID(company name) series includes RFID tags for almost any application. For a full catalog of DAILY RFID durable RFID tag, kindly visit http://www.rfid-in-china.com/products_671_1.html.

  • Help required in UCM BPEL integration

Myself Rahul Dutta from itech Technology Sales Consulting team India.
We are working on a customer scenario where we need to call a BPEL
process when we are checking in a document in the UCM.
The document checkin and the BPEL process triggering is totally
independent (not like UCM BPEL integration where the UCM document will
be released into the repository after BPEL workflow gets completed and
    callback happened to UCM).
The scenario here is I will checkin a document in UCM and it will be
released there but parallaly it will trigger a BPEL process which we
will use to do some notification and workflow staff, but the workflow
outcome will not have any impact in te UCM.
We need your help in implementing tis scenario. How we can sence/trigger
a BPEL process when a document is cheking in. I have though of multiple
possibilities like if UCM can do some update in some table which we can
poll from BPEL or if UCM can call a webservice at the time of document
    checkin or any other way.
Please help us in this regard.
    Thanks and Regards
    Rahul

    Hello Mukesh,
If you want to learn about RFID technology in general
http://www.rfidjournal.com can be the best start.
As you are a expert in XI it would be very beneficial and your learning curve for SAP RFID technogy will be very easy.
    SAP RFID Solution Suite includes:
    1) SAP AII
    2) SAP EM
    3) SAP OER (a new component that encompasses - SAP AII, SAP EM and a data repository for storing RFID events happening across the supply chain)
Scope of XI here is quite important.
You will integrate SAP AII to backend R/3 using SAP XI
You will integrate SAP AII with SAP OER using SAP XI
You will integrate SAP AII and SAP EM within SAP OER with SAP XI.
To learn more about RFID in general and the domains it is being used and useful for you can also look into:
    http://www.bridge-project.eu/
Here you can find a free software deliverable which explains very well how RFID works in warehouses and distrbution centers. Once this is done, you can easily transcend to learn SAP AII and SAP EM
To find basic documentation on SAP AII please refer:

    Thanks & Regards,
    Anil

    Hello Anil,
                 Go through the following websites:
    http://www.rfidjournal.com/
http://help.sap.com --> SAP Business Suite --> SAP Auto ID Infrastructure.
    http://www.discoverrfid.org/
All the websites of the following groups will be very useful.
    EPCGlobal
    Auto ID Labs - http://www.autoidlabs.org/single-view/dir/article/1/296/page.html
    GS1
Plus, very important: There is a project called BRIDGE undertaken by European Union. Here you will find a host of documents
    http://www.bridge-project.eu/index.php/mainpage/en/
There is one free software download also which will help you understand implmentation of RFID in supply chain, thereby boasting your prepartion for understanding of SAP Auto ID Infrastructure.
In SAP, RFID is implemented with different landscapes. Most common landscape is:
SAP AII on Netweaver integrated with SAP EM. Please let me know if you require more info on this

  • MAM25 experiences on RFID

Dear all, some question about mobile application MAM and RFID.
    1) I would like to know how many people is using or tested the MAM25 with RFID and in this case wich devices are you using.
Please specify not only the hw provider (Hp, Dell...) but if possible also the model.
We are making difficult to find out devices supported for RFID with MAM25.
    2) For myr goals it's ok also if the RFID reader/writer device is not integrated but it's an handheld model (like the iPen Bt Pro from Microsensys), connected to the mobile device (PDA or Win32 laptop) via bluetooth interface.
Someone has some experience on that ?
I posted a message like that in RFID forum, but I did not recive any feedback. Sorry if it's not the proper forum.
    Thanks in advance

Out of MAM 3.0 SR3 release note:
RFID Reader: Only the socket communication card (model 6E) is
presently supported for handheld devices only. This card will
support laptop devices in upcoming MI releases. Refer to note
    995387 for additional details.
I think there is a plan to expand the driver base upon request. Socket card works fine in the test environement.
    Thank you,
    Julien.

  • What are the Java libraries for RFID

I need to know the Java classes implemented in RFID infrastructure for processing data and events between readers and tags?

    Hi,
You can install the Java proxy runtime on the SAP J2EE Engine Release 6.40 SP5 or higher.
The messaging system that the Java proxy runtime uses to send messages to the Integration Server must also be installed on the J2EE server.
To send messages from a J2EE application, the application must be programmed against beans that encapsulate all details about the Java runtime. The following classes are generated:
    ·        Proxy classes that send or receive messages using the Java proxy runtime.
    ·        Bean classes as an outer shell that conform to the J2EE standard. The beans call the proxy classes for communication.
The classes must be deployed on the J2EE server together with their J2EE application
see this link for the example scenario http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/f272165e-0401-0010-b4a1-e7eb8903501d

    Hello,
make sure that the interface which is provided by the Psion can be embedded in the ITS Mobile Pages.
Two years ago we  have had massive problems with that and Psion did not deliver a stable interface.
Because of this we mainly do work with a Motorolla MC9090 Device.
If you have success with integrating Psion into ITS Mobile please let me know.
    Best regards
