RFID Interfaces
Hello Everyone
I'm new to WM and i have got couple of questions......
1. what are the interfaces availble for RFID devices to integrate in to WM module and how do we develop those interfaces as a fuctional consultant........i mean the settings we have to make.
2. how do we configure mobile data entry with SAP's direct RF solution using SAPConsole-verification profiles,RF menus, Barcode Scanning and screen management.
I would really appreciate if you send any excersises and solutions you have to my email: [email protected]
Thank you
Hello Reddy,
On SAP service portal, very well and detailed informations are available for RFID and RF. You need to have OSS Id to get this information.
http://service.sap.com/scm --> RFID
https://websmp210.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700007484742004E/SAP_RFID_new3.htm#publications
http://service.sap.com/scm --> Warehousing --> Extended Warehouse Management in SAP ERP / Extended Warehouse Management in SAP SCM.
Moreover, you will get very good documentation on Catalyst webstie.

MAM2.5 RFID Interface Error
Hello experts,
i try to configure the RFID scenarios of MAM2.5 and get the following error if i want to start the RFID-Reader from the order-management: "E503 Failed calling event handler(InvocationTargetException) onRFIDInsert in com.sap.mbs.mam.order.control.OrderEditMore."
I deployed RFID-ADDON as it is described in SAP Note 791037. The mbsrfid.jar is installed in the webapps\MAM25\WEB-INF\lib folder. That seems to be correct,or not? Any ideas what is wrong with my RFID-Interface Installation?
Regards
FrankHello Sami,
i try to solve problem via OSS and upload SAPMobileInfrastructure folder on sapmats.
Thx for answers. -

A: The interface has no changes from AII 2.1 to AII 4.0.Hi Sara,
SAP Device Controller Interface is the interface that will be used by device controller softwares to send data to SAP AII and vice versa. Device controllers filter the RFID reads and send a unique read event to SAP AII. SAP AII on receiving this message processes it. It can be the case that as part of processing we also require to send data back to devices/controller or send a command such as tag commissioning. At this time also the same interface is used.

Sapscript Syntax to write a RFID Tag on a label with Printronix SL5000r
Hello everybody,
does anyone know the syntax in SAPscript, to write data on a RFID Label with the label printer SL5000r from Printronix. I know you need the command "RFWTAG". But do you also need a special font?
It would be great, if someone could post an example. e.g. to write 1234567890 on the RFID tag.
Many thanks in advance!
BerndHi Andreas,
based on our conversation on the phone:
Have a look here: SAP NOte: 734102
It tells you what is necessars to get it working. I guess in your case the vendor does not deliver the correct driver for the SAP framework. As I said, you need the exact driver for the SAP driver framework. Cause it was not available in our case, we had to develop that one from scratch. But the model you use - if you ask the person that sells it, he was very helpful in our case as well and it was only a question of a few days to get it working correctly with our own JNI Implementation.

RFID tag reading failed - MI 7.0, MAM 3.0
Hello at all,
I try to make RFID available for Mi7.0 SR14, MAM3.0 SR5, DB2e, Windows Mobile 5, RFID Reader - Microsensys CFCard, Passive Tags (non metal and on metal9).
Currently I don't be able to read any RFID tag. The standard software of RFID scanner manufacturer can read them without any problems. I got the technical details of tags from manufacturer of tags too (see pirfmsycfcrd.tagcfg).
So my questions are:
Why the standard MAM application cannot identify the tags at least?
What can be wrong in my configuration or what I did wrong?
How we can write Tags inital for MAM? Software?
Please take a look to the details of my scenario below:
Thanks a lot in advance if you can help.
Kind regards
Andreas Dommes

Usage of DATALOGIC JET with MAM25 and RFID
We are evaluating the Datalogic Jet as mobile device for MAM25. We want to us the RFID capabilities too.
It's not clear if the RFID interface provided by Sap on the MAM Cd , the SAP MRI, is usable with this device.
Anyone has some experience ?
regards
R.Mariani, Ao Sys MngIf you are constantly adding data to an Access Database, the database is opened in process and the Access Jet engine will use a cache of memory based on the size of your physical memory.
Microsoft Jet allocates memory on an "as- needed" basis up to an internally calculated high water mark. The idea is to efficiently use the memory in large RAM systems without the need to adjust Registry Settings.
The high water mark (MaxBufferSize) for Jet is calculated by the following formula:
( (((Total Ram in MB - 12)/4 ) * 1024) + 512 ) KB
For example, for a system with 32 MB RAM, Jet uses a calculated MaxBufferSize of 5,632 KB. You can override this value by setting the MaxBufferSize value in the following HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree:
\SOFTWARE\Microso
ft\Jet\x.x\Engines\Jet
For Jet 4.0, the registry location for MaxBufferSize is:
\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Jet\4.0\Engines\Jet 4.0
You may try to see what happens if you do not write any new recores to Access at all. See if you get an increase.
You may consider changing this value from zero to 0x200 (512KB) which should limit Access and allow you to see if any memory outside of Access is being lost.

Configuration of material master idoc interface to RFID
Hi,
We are planning to have SAP RFID. Once operational, do we need to send SAP Material Master field data to RFID? For ex; when the description of a material is changed, do we need to send this new information to RFID system through Idoc (or some other way)?
RegardsYes. This is available in SAP AII which is configurable. Material Idoc is the best way. Activate change pointers generally (Customizing for Logistics - General -> Supply Chain Planning Interfaces (SCPI) -> Auto-ID Backend Integration --> IDoc Processing --> Material Master Data IDocs -> Activate Change Pointers Generally).
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Naveen -
Hello, we are starting a project for making inventory movements using RFID, specially the options "receipts from production" and "sales orders". I've read about the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface, is this for SAP Business One too, or is it only for another version of SAP? Which solution is there for SAP Business One?, can this be accomplished with the SDK
I'll appreciate your responses.
Thanks,
VicenteHi
the SAP Auto-ID Infrastructure Device Controller Interface describes the interface between SAP Auto-ID solution and an RFID device controller.
Configuration Guides:
http://service.sap.com/scm -> RFID -> Detailed Information
SAP AII supports the ALE-interface and the so called classic message interface that consists of an XML command messages (send from SAP to the DC) and XML notification messages (send from DC to SAP). Its based on XML/PML, so you can use it with any system with know to handle XML.
I don't know if the is something special for Business One

Dear all, some question about mobile application MAM and RFID.
1) I would like to know how many people is using or tested the MAM25 with RFID and in this case wich devices are you using.
Please specify not only the hw provider (Hp, Dell...) but if possible also the model.
We are making difficult to find out devices supported for RFID with MAM25.
2) For myr goals it's ok also if the RFID reader/writer device is not integrated but it's an handheld model (like the iPen Bt Pro from Microsensys), connected to the mobile device (PDA or Win32 laptop) via bluetooth interface.
Someone has some experience on that ?
I posted a message like that in RFID forum, but I did not recive any feedback. Sorry if it's not the proper forum.
Thanks in advanceOut of MAM 3.0 SR3 release note:
RFID Reader: Only the socket communication card (model 6E) is
presently supported for handheld devices only. This card will
support laptop devices in upcoming MI releases. Refer to note
995387 for additional details.
I think there is a plan to expand the driver base upon request. Socket card works fine in the test environement.
Thank you,
Julien. -

1. Do we need a carrier manifesting system to use XSI with SAP? (For example, if we use carrier UPS, do we need a Worldship system? If we use carrier Fedex, do we need a Fedex server? )
2. XSI is an Interface, it's in the name - what does XSI interface <u><b>with</b></u>?
3. Is Fedex really available through XSI? Fedex doesn't promote XSI like UPS does. Is other middleware required to ship Fedex parcels through XSI? (I've read several different answers on this, on these forums.)
4. How big a role do IDOCs play in XSI ? (Can a tracking number be assigned real-time, or is IDOC-time as fast as it gets? Does any printing happen through IDOCs? Does all printing happen through SAP handling-unit outputs?)
5. What is SAP's future direction on express shipping? (Will XSI be continued or expanded? Will express shipping be handled through xCarrier in the future?)
6. Could someone walk me through the process? 1. create a HU, 2. pack the HU, then what? How does the XSI interface assign the tracking number? How does the label print? When/how is the tracking number updated in the SAP delivery/parcel tracking? When/how are electronic/end-of-day transactions sent to the carrier?
7. Is there any way when using XSI to enable an interface to a scale, to automatically receive the package weight from the device?
8. Printing and barcodes - what are XSI restrictions? Are SSCC-18 barcodes supported? What about RFID ?
Thanks much for your help,
Maureen Farrell (<i>I do have XSI technical documentation.zip</i>)Visited another pharma company and heard these answers -
XSI has no functionality without a parcel application to interface <u>with</u> . XSI doesn't assign tracking numbers or service levels.
Through use of the XSI interface, tracking numbers and package status can be made visible in the SAP delivery.
If you use only one carrier, or an XSI-enabled multi-carrier system, you'll need one XSI interface. More than one carrier, more than one interface.
Next year SAP may possibly introduce xCarrier, but schedule/features/relationship to XSI) are not clear to me.
If anyone has heard differently, I would appreciate hearing about it. -
How to run RFID on Standard xMAM3.0
Hi All,
We are doing enhancements to the standard xMAM3.0 Application. We have to do enhancements to standard RFID functionality. I have downloaded the standard xMAM3.0 from service market place and uploaded to webconsole and then assigned MI Client.
I could see Partner Management, Order Management, Notification Management etc., but RFID links was not there. I have checked the code in mam_home.jsp, and this link can be display on the home page if RFID is in active position.
Can any body please tell me, how to activate this RFID to get it run. Do we need to activate this from backend side.
I just want to run the RFID which is there in standard MAM.
I have the PDA of
provider -
ecomp,
operating system --- Windows Mobile CE 5.0,
processor -
ARM
MI --- MI2.5 SP17
Regards,
babu. The usage of MAM RFID scenarios requires mobile devices that support RFID. Currently the devices of psion(netpad with atleast 128 MB RAM) are supported for the use of MAM with RFID. Psion drivers that support the SAP RFID component are available for download at : http://www.psionteklogix.com (Refer note 848799).
For using MAM with RFID you have to deploy some Addon's on the mobile Device:
1. RFiD device .dll driver,(delivered by the hardware provider)
2. RFID device .jar files(delivered by the hardware provider)
3. SAP RFID MRI (on the MAM installation cd) - SAP Mobile Interface software is required to be installed on the hardware RFID-reader device. Details to deploy the required SAP MRI software are given in note 791037
